Hey, guys, its Allie or TAKE ME AWAY ! on RPG-D!

We all know what happened is horrible, but as it seems that there will be no coming back from something like this I just wanted to set up a place for other admin/staff/members to come to and discuss their thoughts, feelings and plans for the future! Will anyone be restarting their boards or move on to new projects?

Did anyone have suggestions or preferences for new hosts?

This is Soldier of Silence from RPG-D! We're planning on moving our game to a new host and keep going. A couple of my members have helped me find stuff, we have most of the documents and character bios, but I don't even want to think about all the threads we can't seem to get to. :'(

Right now I'm looking at Jcink, IF, and ZB for new hosts.

I'm been hearing a lot of nice things about Jcink lately! You'll have to share a link to your board when you get it going!

Personally, my staff and I all are agreeing to lay our board to rest and do our damnedest to help find our members and their characters new homes within the genre. The Black Jewels Trilogy fandom has a very small community and many of us have all played together in the past so it shouldn't be too hard, but the work that goes into this fandom is very involved and frankly a bit daunting to try and come back from scratch. I know Melissa who admins Darkest Web will be self hosting her board again, so I'm eager to see how that works out for her.

Are the IPB skins compatible with jcink?

yes as far as I'm aware, but I still have to redo the code completely cause I didn't save it. I did notice that the board wrappers are not split like in IPBFree with the header body and footer, is one big box...

Interesting. But that's entirely manageable. Thank you for the information!

We've already got a host lined up for Corus AND Moonlit; now we're just deciding between Invision and SMF. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry Clipsed, can't help you there.

I installed both of my old skins on Jcink. I had to add two things, but it wasn't hard at all. Though I don't see anywhere to link my banner and now back to struggling with codes.

Clipsed. When you say Invision do you mean the paid IPB, or do you mean a version of IPB 1.3 (like Lorreign on RPG-D has)?

IPB 1.3 has quite a few known security holes, the latest version of IPB, 3.1, is wonderful, and SMF, as far as free forum software goes is incredible.

We finally got set up on JCink, although an old friend of mine offered to host us so we might move over. For now though, we've made the best of it. We probably got about half of our threads from the cache and most of our bios.

Then we started a thread about our characters' reaction to the crash and then the move... poor things we torture them so much. It's been so much fun and honestly it's a great moving on tool.
