All I got to say is that Greg Beecroft wasn't well received as Duke Lavery, my A** clearly he was, not only was he well received, he was becoming very popular....That didn't happened for the recast who took over for Anna and that's because Finola owned Anna, same couldn't be said for Ian with Duke..Greg stepped in his shows and won lots of viewers over and he probably would've won over all of of them if they hadn't abruptly killed the character off.

Wow Greg Beecroft is on that list? And people here said he wasn't accepted as Duke, just show how wrong people here was as usual.
I don't know how accurate magazine polls are either. I have an old magazine that insists that GH is a shoe in for the Emmy's because of TG's amazing performance as Bill Eckert...

Frisco/Tania over Frisco/Felicia?

Pete/Melissa and Grant/Celia? Please. I think they just made the list cause they were on popular shows.

Surprised Quint/Nola and Steve/Betsy are still relevant by 1985.
was Felicia on the show in march 85 yet?
Yes. Felicia came on the show that August. F&F made love for the first time on Valentine's Day, '85 or somewhere around there.

From Afternoon TV 1984 yearbook

Soap fans best favorite couples picks

1. Bo and Hope 2. Luke and Laura 3. Doug and Julie 4. Roman and Marlena 5. Robert and Holly
Amazing how L&L are still there even though they were off the show for years.
Luke/Laura had left at the very in of 1983 and were still mention a lot in 1984 so not surprising at all.
didn't L&L come back in 84 for a bit too?

Was GH weak in the second half of the 80's ? I just got a Daytime TV mag from the first part of 1987 and the Days Of Our Lives actors clobbered the GH actors in the poll.

Actor poll

1. Peter Reckell
2. Stephen Nichols
3. Charles Shaughnessy
4. Drake Hogestyn
5. A. Martinez
6. Jack Wagner
7. Lane Davies
8. Ian Buchanan
9. John Reilly
10. Sam Brehrens

Actresses poll

1. Deidre Hall
2. Kristian Alfonso
3. Fionola Hughes
4. Marcy Walker
5. Patsy Pease
6. Kristina Malandro
7. Erika Slezak
8. Kim Zimmer
9. Mary Beth Evans
10. Arleen Sorkin

I guess Monty was gone from GH around this time?
I don't know if it was so much that GH was weak as it was that DAYS was unfire. They discovered the supercouple formula by copying GH. But they just tweaked it a bit better and there were supercouples everywhere on that show. Once GM left GH, GH got out of the supercouple game although Wendy Riche gave us a little bit different supercouple in Sonny & Brenda. But DAYS stayed the course for a long time and it paid off in all the Daytime TV polls and Soap Opera Awards. Oddly enough, it never did translate too much in the ratings game.
Sonny and Brenda were really different from the typical 80's supercouple on any of the shows, which is probably why they were such a hit. It was something different.
Believe it or not? This is precisely why I liked Robert/Holly over most of the super couples, because they didn't followed the usual super couple path...I liked L&L because they kicked it off and they were the only the original, all the other super couples including Bo & Hope set off to followed the path L&L started....Robert/Holly were the exception because they became a super couple and a very, very romantic one while they were married, they didn't have the big lavish wedding either....They were totally out of left field and a complete shocker.
