Hmm, Jessie and Angie not in the same league as Nina and Cliff ; Greg and Jenny ? I'd say Jessie and Angie passed them by!

I think writing plays a bigger part than many people want to admit.

Darnell and Debbi had the best modern era supercouple writing ANY supercouple, on any soap, ever got. AMC writers did them very good. As a result their chem was as good, if not better, than ever.

R&A got really good material on NS2.

L&L got amazing material in the 90s and in 2006.

D&A. R&H. S&B. F&F. None of these couples got great writing, or strong story support, in a very longtime.
Robert and Anna had me in tears on NS2. They were so beautiful and compelling. I can honestly say that's when I became a fan.
Lets be honest here. Darnell and Debbi acting their ASSES off. They were completely behind selling Angie and Jesse like nobody in the history of ever loved each other that much. They sold that love story even more than they did in the 80s, when Jangie were a supercouple, but not in the same league of Cliff/Nina or Greg/Jenny.

Tony Geary and Genie Francis sold the hell out of Luke and Laura's love in 1993 and again in 2006. They lived up to their legendary chemistry and worked hard to show that connection from their very first scenes in each of those years.

Tristan and Finola did the same with NS2. In fact they sold a deeper, more mature love on NS2 than they did in the 90s on GH.\

I didn't see that same effort in the acting with Tristan and Emma. Or Tony during L&L's last 2 times onscreen together. I see Ian and Fin only putting in effort when D&A are in conflict, otherwise they play D&A just like Audrey and Steve.
How could you see the same effort with Tristan and Emma when they've barely had any screen time together? The last time they were on GH at the same time, the only time they shared screen time was when air-hog Tony Geary was with them. Sorry, I don't think it's a fair comparison.
Wasn't it 1992 when Robert and Holly had a real sit down with just the two of them alone? They haven't had one of those since then, not in 2006 or in '2012.

R&H's last talked where they got to think back seriously of their past. Yes it was in 1992.

I think with the inclusion of their epic reunion (and absolutely GORGEOUS wedding) they definitely did.

I also knew many people back in those days who just adored Angie and Jesse more than anyone else on AMC. But AMC back then was just an embarrassment of riches with couples, even more than GH IMO.

Off the top of my head I can think of several actors who, even playing the same characters, just lost their spark later on.

Robert and Holly
Max and Gabrielle (OLTL)
Duke and Anna
Viki and Clint (OLTL)
Erica and Mike (AMC)
Patch and Kayla (DAYS)
Edmund and Maria (AMC)
Brenda and Sonny
Edmund and Maria could've been because of their real life break up, though I never saw chemistry with them anyway. He was better with Brooke.

Mike seemed like a different character under McTrash's pen, but I still enjoyed them in the 90's when he returned from the dead and rooted for him over her and Jackson. I loved when she locked him on the big dog cage, lol.

Patch and Kayla had no chemistry in the 2006 return.
I was a HUGE Edmund/Brooke fan. I don't see a lot of those around.

Still, their reunion fell flat too. And I mean even before Maria came back from the dead.

I don't think Tristan or Emma have played Holly and Robert as being madly in love still in one single scene in any year since they both returned.

That's true and that's because the script never cause for it but I do know in 2006? Per Emma she said, she and Tristan tried to insert something into their scene, even if it wasn't on the page and if it was just a look to show their fans that deep down, they do still loves each other but it was never in the scripts.

They knew the writing was craptastic and love that they tried to give something back to the R&H fans who were wondering just WTF is going on here..kudo's to them for trying! :biglove
