The dark years for me where the aforementioned Monty's Revenge (1988-92, roughly) and the Guza's Reign of Terrible (approx 2002-08).

The Claire Lachrymose years were actually my second favorite period of the show. I thought the characters were all well drawn and true to themselves, the plots were realistic and moving, the dialogue was smart, and she ushered in a ton of great new people. I guess my all time fave time was 1981-1987, but a lot of that was also nostalgia and through the eyes of a kid. I never like the Ice Princess story and most people loved it, it seems.
Monty returned at the start of 1991 and lasted about a year. That year was awful, saved IMO only by the chemistry among its its three big stars at the time in TR, FH, and JW. It took another year before I started watching GH out of interest instead of habit when Labine came on as HW in 1993. I thought she was an excellent writer, but those WR/CL years wasn't nearly as much fun as Monty's first reign in the 80s which is why I still consider those year the golden years.

For pure heat and passion? The only GH couple that came close was L&L. The other super couples were great in their own right, but none of them were anywhere near as hot as S&B and first phase L&L.
L&L wasn't hot to me.

TR & FH is what kept me watching GH. Love me some R&A friends/lovers/colleagues/co-parents/bFF..You name it, they rocks.

Robin was the catalyst for lots of fun stuff with Robert/Anna. Those two would insert their selves in each other personal lives, all in the name of he's my baby's daddy or she's my daughter's momma. hehehe. They were so cute doing that.

I hung on as long as I could but eventually left with Frisco in 91 but by then I thought the show was crap anyway.

Cool. I liked them but never thought they were really all that hot. I just didn't find TG all that hot.

Neither did I, but I was just a kid though even now he doesn't really do anything for me. Was TG considered a standalone heartthrob on mags and stuff or was his fame basically tied to GF as part of L&L?
