on the main board last night they was talking about a podcast that Jamey Giddeons and daytime confiential did about three weeks ago and they talked about how they wanted to focus on the younger people.apperantely the network wants teens brought in ect. I guess they think they can attract a new generation of viewers? I have to say I'm doubtful that teens would just pick up the show on their own. What they do have though is a lot of GenXers who grew up watching GH who are giving up. If anything, you'd think their viewing habits may rub off on their kids if GH gave them something to latch on to.

I know I'm not up for a teen scene plus RC isn't exactally great at writing teen scenes heck look at the younger 20s for some reason it revolves around Kiki.

TBH..I don't know any teens who watch soaps, not my friends or co-workers kids watch any..Somehow they think there is a market for them..time will tell

Quoting limited to 4 levels deepWTH, is going to campaign for to save a character they may not be a fan of..thats on their fans to do His fans have pretty much burnt that bridge.
IA..Thats it in a nut shell
And that's probably what's went down with Ian B now. People thinking he suppose to stick around because Finola is around isn't accurate.
Eh, that's a lot of assuming. IB's recurring status was open ended until now. I don't know that that's true for the others you lumped in. I think it is open ended for actors like IB, LH, KS and JZ whose characters are weaved into story here and there when needed. Its open-ended because they are available.
I don't think IB's status changed, he is still recurring and could be brought back at any time as with the others. Each time he appears, its part of a contracted block of episodes. Thats how it works. Its the only way to guarantee they will finish a story arc/set of appearances that have already been scripted.
The only difference this time, is that people like ML know what the story is and assume its the end of the character. IB could even think its the end because he doesn't know otherwise either. FH's status has no bearing on any recurring actors.
When TR left abruptly and signed with YR last year, RC had drafted a story outline, possibly breakdowns but FV had not secured him yet. So it was wasted. That is the risk they have with recurring players. Same thing just happened with WK

The biggest problem they have is that they do not promote their own show. How is anyone going to know there are teens on this show to attract teens if you don't advertise? The only way, is to write for the adult set and for the fans you have outside the demos that will bring these kids in.
They are not doing either.

I think the problem is that D/A didn't work out, so they don't see any real need for Duke anymore, especially if they're putting Anna with somebody else. I think RC saw a story related way to write him out and then went for it. Personally, I think that's why Ian has been let go....for now

Trotting IB on screen every so often was just for show like most other things from tptb. How much investment is there really if one half the pair is on contract and the other half isn't?

Judging by how RC writes the vets and supercouples from the past..I don't think he cares at all about story for them, they are just used for a ratings stunt and then are shoved back in the closet or let go.

How much investment is there really if one half the pair is on contract and the other half isn't? They definitely didn't, but they actors were generating anything either. I think, after whatever happens to Duke happens, Anna goes off somewhere (FH to film her movie probably), she comes back gets involved with Sloane and then boom back comes Duke

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
NOP I'm not campaigning either but I don't see why his fans shouldn't even if it's just to show demand for the actor.
Exactly, it's there right as a fan however, they shouldn't be asking other non Duke fans to joined in either.
I don't see the big deal if they ask for support from other fan bases so long as they don't feel entitled to getting it. Some will support anyway, on principle, because there are lots across different fanbases who just feel that vets have been mistreated in general (relative to star recruits from other soaps). Then there are others don't really get it until it hits close to home. But either way, so long as nobody's being nasty, who cares. IA They are ASKING for support. Asking. There's nothing wrong with asking. No one is being chastised for not supporting or being attacked for not participating. If you have an issue with asking that- it's YOUR issue.
