Some fans get so ott and over dramatic about stuff. I remember how lots of DnA fans stopped watching when Duke died because they just knew they were going to put Anna with Robert again and how many years did it take for that to finally happened? a few years. They missed out on lots of great Anna stuff because they'd jumped to the wrong conclusions or being over dramatic.
It's a genre that lends itself to the overdramatic. And passionate fans is what makes the wheels go round and round...
There's passionate and then there's obsessive. Thankfully back in the 80's/ early 90's there was no social media, so it was all under the surface. Now its all out there for everyone to see and its very scary to see the obsessions. I am grateful for boards like this because some of the time you can have good debate and discussions about past stories and BTS stuff from back then and it ends there. But some of the stuff on Twitter, is really eye-opening
There's always going to be a few with screws loose, but for the most part, I think Twitter as a medium works as a playground for harmless "obsessions" that people like to escape to with other likeminded people. From what I've seen lots of "obsessed" fans have lives outside these shows, professionals with jobs, families, and other interests. Twitter isn't the whole picture, not for the fans and certainly not for the actors. twitter, FB aren't the whole picture but Twitter & FB are what the network judge things on now. Per NV and some peeps on twitter are plum crazy.

So what? I know fans here on this board that quit watching when Robert Scorpio left the show. The show was actually pretty good during the early Wendy Riche years. But who cares? People watch when they want to watch. I personally won't watch today's GH but I know there are some here that watch just because Anna is still on. Who cares? What difference does it make?
With both Robert/Anna gone it was like an end of the era and a whole new transition was staring, you could almost understand lots of fans leaving then, pretty much like when both L&L had left in at the end of 83. When Ian left and Duke died? Those fans left because Duke was gone and they didn't bothered to stay around and see what Anna done on her own. So what? Are you saying it's okay to stop watching when Robert and Anna left but not when Duke left? What about the fans that stopped watching back in 1981 when Genie left? Was it okay to stop watching then? What about the fans that stopped watching when Tristan and Emma left in 1985? People can stop watching whenever they want. It doesn't make them a "bad" fan.

Hope they are smart enough to scope out agenda's I hope so. I thought it was super OTT for those Duke and DnA FANS to attacked RC on twitter over the Sloane's towel scene with Anna. That was straight up an agenda based move and everybody knew it including the bloggers.

I just think if the EP and HW and networks execs (and other celebs for that matter) are going to use social media to pimp their own projects and agendas (sometimes riling up fans on purpose even), they have to be willing and able to deal with the crazies in a better manner than the crazies deal with them.

That's exactly what they're saying. It's okay to stop when L&L left in 1983 or R&A left in 1992. But other times, it's not okay.

No, what I'm saying is that if those fans were really fans of Anna too? They would've stuck with her. Those fans quit because they fear she was slated to get with Robert, when in reality? Anna had some of the best material during that period as a single mom and professional career woman. I supposed they weren't interested in seeing Anna in that light. They only wanted to see her playing second fiddle to all Duke's drama.

You mean when Genie left in 1982? That was another HUGE transition because laura AND Luke was the whole show and not having Laura? Was a huge lost, remember 31 mills peep tuned into their wedding..It was Luke and LAURA they were a package deal. So no not the same.
