I don't analyze why I like the 80s the best. I don't know. I just did. I absolutely loved it. Sure, I thought the 90s was better in some ways but I wasn't glued to it like I was the 80s. I think it was the characters. They were mesmerizing. And the supercouples were out of this world. I loved the adventure, love and romance. The 90s had too much misery.
No couple was as miserable as JaSam. Their whole getting together was one huge weepfest over Sam's dead baby.
What do Jasam have to do with oldtimes GH? ;phew
I just find it funny that fans of JaSam that never watched 90's GH complained it to be too miserable. Please, nothing could ever be as miserable as JaSam.
EVERYONE on current GH is miserable. 5 days a week. You need an anti-depressant after you watch.

I thought the storylines on GH in the 80s were really cartoonish. A weather machine? Some wonky sword from a country nobody heard of? Oil in Port Charles? An energy disk that the Russians wanted? Come on. I don't know why this era is considered the best.
There are exceptions to every rule, but I don't think most viewers in the 80s tuned in for the stories. They watched for the characters and actors and the chemistry that they had with one another. These actors were able to rise above the "cartoon" plots and make them interesting.
Well, I tuned in for the character's and to see their daily life played out on my screen and everything that went with it. I loved the sci-fi elements, romance/love stories, action/adventures, drama, mysteries, murder mysteries, mob stories, chaos in the hospital, practically everything I got from my favorite characters. It was a en great escaped..I had zeroes interest in real life preachy social issues story lines which is why I post in the 80s and vets thread over GH 90s thread.

IA. Plus, I think a lot of the 90s fans are still watching GH as the biggies from the 90s (Sonny & Jason) are still on screen and featured heavily. My guess is they're still longing for the 90s though.

I loved GH in the late 80s. I couldn't even concentrate in school/college because of my LOVE for the characters of Robert, Anna, Duke, Sean, Frisco, Felicia etc etc. 1988/89/90/91/92 were especially memorable years for me. I totally disagree that the 90s were better. I don't agree with that at all.
With exception on Colton( I've never like him) this was my GH, I use to wished away my weekend. for the (cast of 88/89)

Alot of the 90's fans still watching? The ratings don't seem to think so

I don't know but then they started chemistry testing Felicia with Robert and surprisingly I liked them together. They really had chemistry duck.
