Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Most people will just remember it as the time Mac got an evil twin.

For those who missed a lot of the 90s after the adventure crew left, yeah Mac was on a lot. Most of his stories involved being the good guy who rescued damsels in distress. That plus his romance with Felicia and his fatherly role, soaked up most of Mac's airtime. That's how Mac ended up as the police commissioner, from his good guy days.

After Mac lost Felicia to Luke Guza and subsequent headwriters pretty much knocked him further and further down on the food chain. Tony, Mac, Alan, Monica, Felicia, and Bobbie all started to get phased into the background within a couple years of each other.

Basically it was when Jill Phelps arrived.
Luke(TG), Ugh is the bane of every characters existence on this show. I was so mad when TR left that they forced ES and TG together again (which was a major fail). I really thought JJY and ES had really good chemistry and I think could have been good.
I would of welcome holly with anyone but Bill that lame attempt at L&H 2 was so horrible . :yuk
Putting Holly with Lukelookalike was not only a epic fail but it was creepy as hell. How many would date the lookalike coursing of a man that she dumped prior? Only a nutcase I tell ya.

Mac failed in the "Frisco position". Failed. No head writer was ever interested in writing for him ever again.

This was the point of contention.

Did Mac "fail" in the Frisco position? Yes.

Was it true that no headwriter was "ever interested in writing for him ever again"? No

A 10+ page debate over jack shit. Welcome to DD.

I think it's debatable whether or not any head writer was interested in writing for the Mac Scorpio character. Just depends on what you mean by "writing for" I guess.

In relative terms, I think the character has always gotten the short end of the stick.

Did you watch almost all of the GH years after 1992?

I skipped 1992 but watched from 1994 until about 1998 when I graduated college, and then on and off until the mid 2000s. What can I say? I know I watched him, but he didn't make an indelible impression one way or the other. I think they could've given more and I can't really say that they "wrote for" him. That was my impression.

You can always tell who didn't watch when.

To say Mac wasn't written for in the 90s shows who didn't watch most of the 90s.

It's the same thing when people who obviously didn't watch the 80s swear the whole decade was nothing but camp and cheesy sci-fi/adventure stuff.

And you can always tell who didn't watch GH after Luke/Laura had left the building end of 83, they don't have a clue what went on in the mid 80s through early 90s..It's quite easy to spot them too.

Luke was the bane of EVERY character's existence? Really? :eek
Hyperbole on my part definitely and I apologize. Its just, for this character a lot of vets that carried the show for years when he was gone, were sacrificed at that alter then and definitely recently Its just that, people seem to forget that Luke left in 1982/83, returned in 1984 for the Aztec treasure story and didn't return until 1993. The show was number #1 for the entire decade (until 1989) without him.
So true. word

Mac was in a ton of story in 95, I remember.

He had the romance with Katherine (which had a lot of airtime) that got play thanks to the involvement with Damien Smith and Mac trying to protect her (front burner story), was very heavily involved in Robin/Stone story, played a major role in the Brenda/Sonny wire story and that was the year he had PI stuff too. It was also the silly, classic comedy yarn with Kevin and Mac playing women. Mac was everywhere that year. I actually think, now that we're discussing it, it was MAc's best year.
Heavily involved in stories that center other characters is still supporting. You have NOT proved your argument. His relationship with Katherine was an afterthought to the Damien Smith story because that centered around, guess WHO, Luke. He and Kevin were supporting characters. Even Katherine being accused of Damien's murder was about HER,not Mac

Not the OP, I'm the one who first corrected the person pages ago who said no headwriter was interested in writing for Mac after his introduction and material with Robert.

Obviously that person was dead wrong. I never made any arguments that you and others brought into it. I said I would NOT participate in your petty goalpost moving, where you set up an argument and claim I made it. I'm too old for that nonsense, and frankly you should be too.

My point has been proven. Mac was written for a lot, YEARS after his intro.
Nice try. The goal post was already established. GM tried to make Mac a lead and it FAILED. He was never a lead, EVER.
So spare us your "above all this" mantra.

That was the goal post you or op created. The initial arguement was "no headwriter cared enough to write for Mac"

Mac most memorable story is when he first came on and Robert threw him back in the water..Notice that was the story they choose to feature on that soap net thingy.

LOL that's actually the image I see most often, that and the one of him and Kevin in drag. Even on the weekly throwback videos GH was putting out last year, I don't recall Mac in any of them. That's probably what some mean by memorable.

Some writers do tend to write for some actors like they're creating highlight reels for them that's how invested they are in writing for the character. Even through I do think it's too much sometimes.

Patrick calls himself a lonely widower that's raising his daughter today? Seriously the script writers doesn't know jack but because the actors can't ablibbed or change words? JT left it in? whatever reason it was it just more reason why I ignored the day to day dialogs because the script writers doesn't know what has happened on the show like at all.

It sucks that they're not allowed to ad lib. I know it was encouraged in the 80s and historically some of my favorite stuff were ad libbed.
