If you're recurring, you get paid for the day's work, so basically you're a ay player waiting to get called in for an assignment. If you're on a contract, however briefly, you get paid a set amount regardless of how many days you work. So basically you have a guarantee instead of sitting around wondering if you're getting a paycheck or if you should be out looking for something else.
Well right now she's sitting at home doing nothing, oh wait she is off promoting a diet program that most likely won't work.
Yeah, but she probably wants her return to be worth her time. I doubt she's hurting for money.

Not the point. She NEVER gets bashed over refusing to come back on a recurring basis. Never. Same way I never saw Robin Strasser or Julia Barr attacked for it.For some reason only Genie gets gruff for wanting to come back only on a contract basis.
I'm not bashing GF but can someone tell me what's the differnce between recurring and coming back for short arc's because she has no problem doing that ..Is it a money thing?

So it's like the difference between an hourly temp and salaried staff?

Genie gets paid very well for her short contracts. Since she said years ago that she expects to be paid what her leading man is paid, I have a theory that Genie gets paid the same amount as Tony does whenever he's on. But that's the reason why she doesn't stick around because they won't ever pay her long term at that rate.
She said that years ago when she was actually a contract player NOT for any of these short returns. In fact, she stated point blank in interviews that had gotten parity with Tony until Jill showed up and slowly started chipping away at it and making one set of rules for the men and another for the women.

thanks, who wouldn't want a contract i mean she's done all the small arcs when they asked her so why not give her something in return Cause she's still Bora Laura once back and they won't write for her. Didn't her last return, brought Holly back just to take her place with Luke while she was tied up in the basement. Then had her leave in the middle of a scene in a HOSPITAL to go off to Paris of all places to see a doctor.

How funny is it that Genie fans are so hoping for Finola to lose her contract in hopes that Genie will then get one by default. She'll still be the same Laura Bora when back and if she's hard to work with like I heard that won't change. Somehow Finola losing her contract won't mean Genie will get it, I don't think granting contracts works that way.
Who the hell said Laura fans were hoping Finola was fired? All anybody is doing is speculating IF she leaves will they money be filtered to bring back Genie. Same way Genie leaving in 2002 cleared up money for Vanessa to come back on an expensive contract at the same time she left.
Oh please they have brought plenty of new cast members on with contracts after Finola. If they really wanted Genie they would have brought her back with or without Finola having a contract. The reason Genie is getting linked with Finola is because ABC told FV years ago, after he signed FH long term, the contract for older vets was finished. He was right.
So it's not that GH doesn't give out contracts. It might be that, besides Tony and Jane, there's only one major, long term GH contract available for classic vet. If Finola leaves they might give that to somebody like Jack, Tristan or Genie, if they're available.

I thought she just wants a contract isn't that why she took Y&R because they offered her a contract and GH wouldn't. I don't know what she wants now. But her big issue use to be that she wasn't paid or given the vacay time that Tony was. She got it when Wendy was still around but felt like Jill was taking it away from her. I didn't know all of this til fairly recently when I saw it posted on the L&L board, where I lurk. That interview wasn't that long ago. So payment might still be an issue.
It's known that Genie got paid very well for her contract at Y&R by the way.

What's the definition of older vet? Michelle Stafford is 50 yrs old. So did ABC mean limit older vets who made their name on GH then?
