Here's the podcast where Logan talked about GH vets and contracts: http://daytimeconfidential.com/2012/08/30/dc-687-tv-guides-michael-logan-weighs-in-on-augusts-crazy-headlines If you can't play it for some reason here's the DD recap somebody did back then: Drops by Michael Logan. A lot of what people hated about GH the last few years is Guza's fault. Jill couldn't tell him what to do and Frons gave him unlimited support. No one could tell Guza what to do. Steve is definitely open to returning. Steve doesn't know how they are going to wrap things up. Logan thinks the plan is to keep things open. Steve's telenovae is pretty close to a done deal. Frank didn't want to answer questions about the length of Duke storyline. Logan knows Ian is not on contract. Logan doesn't know if anybody at GH wants to fight a battle with the network about hiring someone 50 plus. Logan feels that ABC really wants to keep GH. Logan is surprised by turn around by ABC. GH shot some Passion-like, James Reily-like stuff at Long Beach. Logan mentions they brought out many GH vets for the TCA. Many of the "salty, old, farty" reporters at the TCA LOVED GH. The reporters were excited to ask questions to the GH actors. Some reportes were really excited that Jane Elliot showed up. The GH actors were surrounded at the TCA party that night and people couldn't get enough of them. Logan predicts that "Genie will be free" when her contract is up. Logan and Jamey laugh about the fact that FV gives scoops on his twitter, but FV gets mad when other people give out spoilers. |

Well I've lost interest in everything else GH so at least that's something to look forward to if they can make it work with the actors. |

All the most popular characters in this thread were all newbies who took over the show, more than the newbies now do, so I guess this is karma? Didn't none of us give a damn about all the young newbies flooding GH back in the 1980s and almost all of the GH vets getting dumped by Gloria. We don't have a leg to stand on. |

Maybe Ian is getting paid more than we thought? It's not like any of us here know exactly what the actors make. Just a lot of assumptions that he was getting paid peanuts. |

Shorter stints for big time soap talent is becoming more regular. Eileen Davidson was only asked back to DAYS for 10 episodes, which shocked her because her character is being used in a major story: http://daytimeconfidential.com/2015/03/26/eileen-davidson-returns-to-days Sounds similar to our vets. Looks like this is becoming the industry standard to save money but still have big name announcements. |

I don't think the ratings support your argument that nobody gave a damn about the young newbies back in the 80s. |

If you started in 81 you don't know anything about classic, pre-Monty GH. So you excepted GH's vet purge. Gail was NOT a vet back then. She was an aged newbie hire, just like Lila and Edward, who people like you mistook for long term vet talent. By the mid 80s the only real GH vets left were Steve, Audrey, Lee and Jessie. And they all her their stories strip down, airtime cut severly, and became mostly handholders for their kids and scene fillers. There were less vets, on less often in total, under Monty than there are by far under Valentini. |

If that's how you read that comment you need to brush up on your reading comprehension. None of us gave a damn about the newbies pushing out the vets back then. Did you? If not than how can any of us talk, especially since the old vets we love are on more plentifully now than the real GH vets were back then? Who in this thread watched GH before Monty? How many of u really cared how much she destroyed GH's history prior to her coming on? |
