When drawing parallels between what Monty did and what FV is doing, the problem for me is that GM and her writers provided worthy alternatives to the vets she pushed out. Viewers liked her newbies and their stories, so yeah maybe the pushback was less in her case.

If RC were to provide something equally engaging, there'd probably be less complaining about underuse or overuse of so and so.
I can't get any attachment to any of RC newbies ;fcp
Me either.I'm still baffled at what the heck Kiki's purpose is.I might have understood when KA was around.I'm not interested in newbie Hayden ect.
Each new one is worse than the last :vomit

I mean I get you need to have newbies on soaps but RC never develops them and tells me why I should care about them ect and I think the 20s group is one of the worse groups I've ever seen on a soap.

Colton and Cheryl in the top 10.

Ewww.
yea, but Cheryl was the love interest of the top person on that list..So it's fitting that she'd be in the top ten or 15.

For me, killing off Duke gives me one reason not to watch this show. Yes, Cartini have brought back the vets but there's no substance to them and there are a million newbies (and other former soap stars) that eat up my show. I can't invest in any of them because they're not on enough. Except Sonny. Again. And Jason and Carly. We seem to never truly get a break from them.

I thought under a new regime, things would be different. Geary and Benard wouldn't be catered to as much. But things are still the same. And while FV and RC didn't butcher our vets like Guza did, they didn't do much better with them.

I guess I'm just over this show. I'm scared to watch what they're doing with Luke. He's not the same character I grew to love. But as long as Geary is happy, right? Forget about the fans.

Bye, bye GH!
See you next week. :lolz
I actually haven't watched GH in months so I highly doubt I'll be watching next week.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep

The OP specifically referenced KW, KS, LH as the ones whose usage could be counted on one hand (yes, a hyperbole).
All three of them have been in over a 100 episodes each since they were brought back.
all together or as each character totals ?
As of last moth:

Finola's been back for a little over 3 years. She's done 322 shows.
Ian's been back 2.5 years. He's done 142 shows.
Lynn's been back for a little over 2 years. She's done 108 shows.
Kristina's been back for almost 3. She's done 91 shows.
Kin's been back for about 2. He's done 84 shows.

Take a look at how many vets were left on GH, and their episode counts, by the time Gloria was finished changing the show:

FLASHBACK: 1988 Episode Counts

Hello all – for some fun and nostalgia here are the episode counts for 1988, compiled through viewings. This was the year Anna was captured by Grant Putnam and lost her baby with Duke; Sean and Tiffany were married; Duke infiltrated the Jerome mob and was pursued by an obsessed Olivia; Julian faked his death for the first time; Tom and Simone had daytime’s first interracial marriage; Tony and Lucy divorced; Monica had an affair with Ned; and Felicia searched for Frisco’s killer.

This was the year we were introduced to Julian and Olivia Jerome, Colton Shore, Lord Larry and Lady Arielle Ashton, Harrison Davis, and Katherine Delafield; and the year GH lost Jake Meyer, Patrick O’Connor, Grant Putnam, and Filomena Soltini.

Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as I did!! I hope to have 1989 finished before the end of the year.

General Hospital
Number of Episodes in 1988: 257

9. Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) – 132
20. John Beradino (Dr. Steve Hardy) – 88
31.Rachel Ames (Audrey Hardy) – 57
37. Emily McLaughlin (Jessie Brewer) – 37
Kin had just returned in 1988, so he'll doing pretty good.

but that doesn't amount to much for the year except FH and she has a contract

It's funny how much we debate and complain about seeing our folks for just 50, 60, a 100, 200, whatever episodes when Primetime show fans only see their own leads for 12-24 episodes per season.

We're so spoiled :lolz
