Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
This argument started when somebody said vets aren't even on the show at all. You can debate all day long about what writing you did, or didn't, like. That's subjective. But to suggest that GH has less vets now than it did during the hey day is wrong. Flat out, provably wrong. It's just that you, as you admit here, didn't care whether Steve and his kind had any story at all. You were into the newbies and didn't care about GH vets being sidelined. Karma is a bitch.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the argument started with a poster who specifically referenced KW, LH and KS as blink and miss, which over the course of 250 episodes a year isn't far off the mark. And yes, karma is a bitch alright, on GH that is when it gets cancelled for sucking.
GH is old as dirt. How many shows run for over a half century? Did you really think it would stay on forever? Getting cancelled when you're over 50 isn't bad karma, it's legendary. People will be celebrating whenever it goes off, not lamenting that it only lasted for longer than 50+ years.
Actually many are lamenting it now for sucking. They'll celebrate when it goes off.

NOP but you guys are just addressing air time. What about quality of the rest of the show? Did I care that Steve, Audrey, Jesse and Lee were on less and had less impact? Probably not because the show was successful in getting me to care about what was going on in the larger whole. If they weren't able to do that, I'd probably be like why the hell isn't Steve getting a story?

The argument started because somebody said GH only gives airtime to newbies, not vets, which is a patent lie.
There are tons of GH vets getting airtime and story. That's the point.

Here's the argument:
If you love GH vets in general, like from the 70s-90s, you're gonna be pretty happy. Show is full of them in various degrees. There's lots for you to choose from.
If you love only a select few GH vets who use to be huge, like Robert, Holly, Frisco, Felicia, etc, or you were more of a supercouple fan, you're going to be very displeased with GH today. There's not a lot for you.
Overall GH fans, the ones who can get into a plethora of characters, win out. Those watching mostly for a handful of characters or couples from back in the golden years? Disappointment city. Guess what? I totally agree with this. I'm a viewer that was in love with 80s GH and loved the supercouples. Those are the characters I was most passionate about and still care about. I don't mind the other vets but they were never the reason I tuned into GH. So, with my beloved characters getting scraps, and in my opinion, many other less deserving characters getting way more airtime, I tune out. There I said it.
I don't care about the newbies and the former soap stars and I no longer care about characters like Sonny, Jason or even Luke. (Sad). So, there is nothing for me to tune into.

I guess I'm not sure what you're winning exactly. If I just wanted to see my favorite actor, a photogprah would do just as well.
They win out with a GH to still enjoy featuring lots of characters they like to watch. Something we all want, no?
I guess we want different things. I want engaging stories and for my favorite actors to get good material. And if my favorite actors can't get material, then I still want engaging stories in general.
And there are people who find today's GH engaging. Hence "a GH to enjoy".

They should utilize the iconic vets more. GH certainly didn't hesitate to use them to promote the 50th Anniversary. DAYS is doing the same thing with bringing back back Bo and Patch. Those are beloved characters who were 1/2 of an 80s supercouple. But GH has to keep spending money hiring OLTL, ATWT and AMC vets. I don't get it.

An OVER 50 year old show finally coming to an end is not a sign of negative karma.

Well there's nothing much there. I watched about six to eight soaps back in the day and didn't tune in specifically for favorites, I could get into anything if it was written well enough.

This is one of the most honest posts I've seen in this section. Bravo.
