There are just WAY TOO MANY fantastic cops shows on Prime time/cable tv with both males and females in charge of top position being clever and battling clever criminals for daytime soap writers to still be writing them so stupid. The only time GH cops were ever smart is when Robert was on the force and they had the dream WSB dream team..But after Robert left that position of PCPD went downhill even with Sean in the position it went down. Sean was written as incompetent too.
The main difference is that the bad guys on GH are full time characters. They are the leads of the show, so the law enforcement has to be stupid. It's why I stopped being a full time viewer in the 90s. I can let go of reality long enough to be entertained but I couldn't stomach criminals as the heroes. OK, I need to add to my post. Because I'm more of a casual viewer I forget a lot of the details. GH has had villains that were not full time characters and it would usually be Sonny/Jason that ended up playing the hero and helping to take them down. That was unforgivabel to me.

Sonny wasn't the whole show, he was just part of it. They had lots of good characters that they could've passed the " Robert's torch" over too being an interesting/exciting good guy, that could lead the charge, I was really surprised that Sean wasn't allowed to do it but he wasn't a lead i don't think, and Well, Luke was back but he wasn't the law and i think for a long while Luke/Laura were being written as supporting character (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong'..There were Mac and he couldn't filled Robert's shoes so they had to moved the dark character Sonny to lead because he had a strong, leading presence.

I'm all for saving Duke from a bad exit, but that's all. I say free Ian from this crappy show.
I'm not really a Duke fan but I have fond memories of 80s GH and I feel that way about all the vets I care about. I'll wait to see how it plays out, but an exit via a "dire twist" does not sound good. I just don't understand the purpose of bringing a popular character back just to destroy and piss off a fan base. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Duke had been dead over 20 years, his legacy and D&A's legacy was better off had they not brought him back. Same for Frisco, gone for 18 years, only to be brought back so everyone can crap on him onscreen for a change. But hell they'd no problem bringing bit player Julian Jerome back decades later and turning into into a romantic leading man with a built in family. THIS!!

When they done the 180 on Duke? I knew his destiny was either Jail or Death. They decided to act like a real mob after they put him in charge. I knew it would be his end. But I guess RC wanted to give him an explosive send off, let him act like a real bad ass mob boss, putting out hits and whatnot and I think he'd get even worse where viewers will be screaming for Anna take him down. That's my theory. IA, But this fan won't be drinking the KOOL - AID

I know a lot of fans were not happy with OLTL 3 coming over but seriously, when they had to give them new characters, why didn't they make RoHo a Q? His brand of humor would have fit well with the Qs.

Roho should've been Eric Q Jr ....ME should've been ex-WSB agent who trained under Robert/Annaand best bud with Frisco with and potential love interest for Anna...KA should've been Liz's young cousin given Liz more family.
