Actually mobbed up Duke has made me want him and Anna more. They have a much more interesting, electric dynamic with some conflict. That kind of "should I/shouldn't I" with them is one of the things that made them intriguing back in the day.
The problem with this reunion is that they got back together after Duke had been off the map for decades. Anna had a full, developed life and personality, while Duke just sorta became her purse holder. Now, today, I feel like Duke is coming into his own and it's providing the kind of drama that I think could fuel a more exciting attempt at D&A.

Can Duke be redeemed? I used to love Duke, and thought Duke/Anna would always be a great, enduring GH love story. Now, Duke has been totally ruined, pledging his undying allegiance to that murderous thug Sonny and wholeheartedly doing his dirty work. Can he not hear himself when he's talking about having people killed? He's not even his own person anymore, just Sonny's puppet, constantly propping his master and protecting his "business." He even had the nerve to try to weigh in on the Avery custody issue with Michael. The best part of last week was the verbal smackdown he got from Michael. I would love to see Duke and Anna eventually reunite, but not with her caving and deciding she must love him despite the choice he made. Instead, I want to see him come to his senses before it's too late, turn his back on Sonny and help Anna put all of PC's mobsters behind bars. http://boards.soapcentral.com/showthread.php?994127-Can-Duke-be-redeemed
I enjoy mob Duke. It's been exactly the shot in the arm both the character, and IB, needed since his return.
ia Duke being n the mob and playing a real mobster, not the fake nice mobster nothing like we've gotten from years from Sonny/jason. It doesn't make me want him with Anna but it works for his character and make him at least interesting. I say if they're gonna do mob? I want to see the real kind, deadly and dangerous. However, wish Duke could've achieved all of this power on his own and not being a Sonny's puppet, that's the true downside of it. Lately, Ian has been more interesting playing villain over playing the romance with Anna even back in the day? They got boring really fast and now in the 21st ? it's excruciating boring. I think Ian is in his element when he's playing villains.
Just like when he was playing Faison. He did a fantastic job with it and viewers were really loving him esp when kicked Jason in the water but as soon as they brought him back as Duke? It went downhill. He's definitely more interesting as a villain. OMG he was so good as Faison-Duke.

I don't see anything wrong with people finding fan events embarrassing. I'm a fan of a couple scifi and fantasy series and I hate stuff like comicon. I have never been to any fan events or actor events and I can't see why I would go.
I won't go to those fan event simply because I don't want to get that close to the actors. I love loving them from a distant and it has nothing to do and it has nothing to do with how other normal people may look, act or whatever. I run across various, different people with different shapes and sizes with different looks by just going to the groceries stores/malls/casinos/movies/jobs why do people that goes to soaps fans events get singles out? It was a mean thing to say period.
Okay, if you want to be all politically correct about it and ignore the truth, that is your prerogative, I suppose.
Interesting how we discuss actors looks here all day long, but as soon as someone makes a comment about fans looks the entire world comes crumbling down. I don't even see where anybody was being mean. I don't either. It's no different than anything said about other actors on the show or the writers. Heck, the writers get the worst of it usually.

This reminds me of an interview TG gave I think last year. He talked about his issues with L&L over the years since their return and said one of the big things standing in the way of them today is that nobody has bothered to flesh out Laura since Genie left the show. We don't have any real idea who that woman is.
So as a big L&L fan it's hard for me to even know who they would be together since nobody has bothered investing in her in a long time, not in any real way. Same issues were there for Duke and Anna. Until now.

I agree. I think IB is better at playing villains. The romantic hero type he just can't sell and thats been obvious. As long as IB is happy with the material, and I don't think he would not be considering the amount of screen time he is getting, then all is good. I willing to bet that bet Ian is really loving it. I know he couldn't possibly been happy playing Anna's purse holder and doing much else.

OMG he was so good as Faison-Duke. I thought Ian was MUCH better than Tony in his imposter story but of course Tony got all the kudos and Ian got none.

I don't want him with Anna for the simple fact that professional, smart women being tempted by mobster has been done to death with Sonny and every professional female that has came in contact with him. That story is old on GH.
I think at this point? Both Duke/Anna need to be move on FROM EACH OTHER TOTALLY....As you said? Duke hasn't been fleshed out and he need to evolved, his entire world in the 80s was just Anna, whereas Anna has been around and LIVED.

If I could've brought back any 2 actors back to GH permanent it would definitely be Jack Wagner and Tristan Rogers.. I absolutely adores them together off screen. I know that Robert/Frisco bromance is so underrated but it's simply the best to me.
