::: There is to be absolutely no tanking. This means playing obvious third/IR players and sitting/IRing your best players. The exception is if its the end of the season and you are resting your starters for the playoffs. ::: Posting a roster is requirement number 1 as a GM. Failure to do so over time can result in termination. This includes updating a roster after a trade is made. ::: Do not edit your roster until a trade has been processed ::: When a new trade is posted, no other GM's aside from the two involved may post replies until both parties have posted their agreement to the deal. ::: Extended GM inactivity will not be tolerated. If I feel you have been inactive for an extended period of time, you will be fired. If you have a legitimate reason for being absent (i.e. vacation), you must inform the commissioner before hand. ::: During the regular season (and the period after the off-season waiver sim, right before the season starts), you may only sign 2 players every 48 hours. ::: When a player is cut from your team, you may not re-sign him for 1 week. ::: For any and all signings and releases (including those that are parts of trades), you must post them in the Sign-&-Release Thread during the regular season. ::: After you have traded a certain player to another team, you are not allowed to re-acquire that player for one week real time. This eliminates the possibility of people "cheating" when trading (even if it is unintentional). ::: If you fail to send a list for resigning and can't make the sim, your players with ending contracts will not be resigned. There will be an example of how to do your resign lists during the resign period. ::: Draft picks that are 3 years or more away from the current season may not be dealt when trading. For example: If the current season is 2006, picks from 2009 and beyond may not be traded until at least 1 more year has passed. ::: If you can't make the draft sim, you must send a draft list. If you don't, your pick will be CPU picked, and sometimes these are very horrible picks. ::: During the Free Agency period, when bidding for players, you may not place more bids than you have roster spaces. So if you have 13 people on your roster, you may only place bids on 2 more people. ::: Mid and Low-Level Exceptions may only be used on one person at a time during the Free Agency period. If you want to place either exception on a different player than it's currently attached to, you must post that you are retracting the original bid first. ::: You must keep 1 1st rounder in the next 2 years from the current season, for example, if it is 2010, you need either a 2011 or 2012 1st rounder...FBB rule. ::: If you do not edit your roster and bump it after a trade and then a sim occurs, your roster will be CPUed for that sim. No exceptions. ::: Transactions are frozen 1 hour before the sim. For example, if the sim is at 9, no more trades or signings/cuts can be made once 8 hits. This does not include roster editing, which can be done any time up until the sim. Helpful Info taken from FBB Salary Cap Fast Break Basketball 2001 uses a Salary Cap on team salaries. The purpose of a salary cap is to prevent certain teams from signing every player that they want with no regard to salary. The cap is set at 54 mil. There are some exceptions to the salary cap: * A team can always offer a player who played for their team the previous season a contract starting with at 120% of the salary the player made the previous season. The player may receive up to a 10% raise each year in the contract. * Each team has a mid-exception and a low-exception that it can offer players. The mid-exception is a one-season contract for $4,500,000. The low exception is a one-season contract for $1,200,000. * If a player has gone three full seasons without changing teams via free agency, they are considered to have Bird Rights. A player with Bird Rights may be resigned by his previous team without any restriction from the salary cap. The number of seasons a player has gone without changing teams via free agency is reflected in their Bird Years. Player Contract Rules How much a player can be offered by a team is determined by a number of rules. * If a player is signing with a new team: 1. The contract can be for up to 6 seasons. 2. The player can receive a raise each year of up to 10% of the value of the first year of the contract. 3. The maximum value of the first year of the contract is the smaller of the amount of cap room the team has and the maximum salary the player can receive based up his experience in the league(see table below). * If a player is resigning with his previous team and has 3 or more bird years: 1. The contract can be for up to 7 seasons. 2. The player can receive a raise each year of up to 12.5% of the value of the first year of the contract 3. The player can receive the larger of the maximum salary based on his experience and 120% of his previous salary in the first year of the contract. * If a player is resigning with his previous team and has less than bird years: 1. The contract can be for up to 6 seasons. 2. The player can receive a raise each year of up to 10% of the value of the first year of the contract. 3. The player can receive the larger of the team's salary cap room(up to the maximum salary) and 120% of his previous salary in the first year of the contract. * Teams over the salary cap also may offer a player one of their two salary cap exceptions: 1. Mid Exception - one-year offer of $4,500,000 2. Low Exception - one-year offer of $1,200,000 3. Each exception may only be used once per season. 4. Not counting exceptions, you may only sign players for two years at the minimum salary when over the cap * Bird Years: 1. Bird years are the number of seasons a player has gone without changing teams via free agency. When a player is traded, he maintains his bird years. Trading Rules * Each team may give up a maximum of five players in a trade. * Players under salary cap exceptions may not be traded. * A team that is over the salary cap can receive up to 115% in total salary of the salaries it is trading away. |
