Throwing out some ideas for modeling espers who specialize in using their powers in a particular way. I'm a bit loopy and sleep deprived right now, so this may not make much sense. Specialization should model espers being able to do particular things well with their power. Often this falls into the category of something that would be a deviation effect (ex: Misaka and the railgun). So some ideas: at char gen, buy a specialization at 2 points to cancel out the cost of using any one small or medium level deviation effect and in addition, add 1d10 to all dice rolls for using that particular manifestation of an esper power. 3 points for canceling out the cost of a large level deviation effect and having the same. Additional cost for adding an additional 1d10 to all dice rolls on top of that. Espers basically get 'phantom levels' that only kick in with their specializations. Adding more than two of those is ridiculous and shouldn't happen. Two is already ridiculous though. Not sure how to price that. at char gen, buy specializations for some number of points to add a static 3, 5, or 7 points to all rolls using the specialization. This is a bit weaker than the above. Ideas? |
