COMMUNISM SHINES The Union of Verrusian Soviet Republics has once again proven the benefits of Communism. The government of the Republics has recently undertaken a $100 million program to ensure that its people have the means to support themselves. The citizens of the Republics may now attend government operated re-employment centers where they can seek an education and find employment. Additionally, government sponsored programs are expected to dramatically increase the number of jobs in a variety of industries. Needless to say, the people of the Republics are happy with this move and with the leadership. Results: Private |

ANEAN DIPLOMACY The Confederacy of Allied Colonies and the Kingdom of Emmeria today signed a treaty covering various facets of bilateral relations including trade and military exchanges. Signed in Emmeria's capital the CAC signalled the great importance placed upon Confederal-Emmerian relations by having the treaty signing conducted by His Serene Highness the Margrave von Stormhaven, whilst His Majesty the King of Emmeria signed the treaty on behalf of His people. The details of the treaty include mutual recognition of territorial sovereignty and the exchange of full diplomatic embassies. Emmeria possesses large deposits of natural resources but limited export capabilities/markets, whereas the CAC is resource poor and so relies upon an extensive trading network and large-scale manufacturing and shipping transport. The treaty stipulated the following major economic points: -reduction of importation taxes on timber, minerals, oils, and agricultural products from Emmeria to the CAC. Initially capped at 3% and reducing by 1% a year until a free trade status is achieved for these goods. -guaranteed maximum 10% transportation cost above shipping cost for Emmerian-registered companies shipping Emmerian-sourced products outside their borders on CAC state-owned merchant vessels. -similar tax arrangements for CAC manufacturing, medical, and engineering companies' products within Emmeria -permission granted for Emmerian trade offices to be opened in CAC territory to coordinate trans-country shipping and import/export. Such trade offices shall be granted permanent 5% maximum income taxation status in respect to their fees earned from coordinating CAC-Emmerian trade. Economists and business leaders in both nations are hailing this as a well-made match, giving much needed export opportunities and larger foreign markets via shipping to Emmeria, whilst the CAC gains cheaper natural resource imports on a large scale with reduced transportation security and costs issues and opening the Emmerian market further to CAC manufactured goods. It is hoped that secondary private trade and investment will follow these primary export-import goods to further boost the regional economies. One of the treaty sections relating to military affairs has raised eyebrows and sent alarm bells ringing amongst certain Agathorian commentators. Whilst not forming a military alliance the treaty does establish a formal status of permanent non-aggression between the CAC and Emmeria and initiates an annual year-long exchange programme for 100 officers from each nations military to observe and serve in their exchange partner military's command and training headquarters along with base visits to familiarise each other with their military organisation and operations. Such initiatives are likely to open the prospect of future greater military cooperation as both states develop an understanding of each other's military capabilities which could smooth over issues in joint operations and supply lines. Surprisingly the CAC has also permitted the embedding of 20 Royal Emmerian Army personnel within its Experimental Battlegroup 11 (EBG-11). EBG-11 has been garnering a significant level of interest from regional militaries as it is the first attempt to motorise combat and support troops and additionally adds organic artillery and tank capabilities to the motorised troops. Military analysts suspect that the embedding is to reduce Emmerian fears of an aggressive CAC agenda and hopefully engender a desire for greater military cooperation on the part of the Emmerians. Whilst officially a treaty promoting trade and cooperation there is clearly a secondary aim here, the one which had ruffled Agathorian feathers. Both treaty partners have expressed nervousness over recent calls by the Agathorian Empire to aggressively expand into the former territories of the extinct Arrak Kingdom which it considers itself the successor of, and of which both the CAC and Emmeria are former members/colonies of. The treaty goes some way to establishing a buffer state between the 2 regional powers of the CAC and Agathorian Empire by ensuring there is no direct border causing military friction between them which could quickly escalate into outright hostilities. Some Agathorian hawks are upset that a large innovative motorised combat force is developing on the western border of Emmeria which could potentially threaten Agathorian designs upon the smaller independent Emmeria, leaving their previous vocalisation of a historical right to "recapture" former Arrak lands looking both foolish and impotent. Some regional analysts consider this the opening salvo in an Anean Cold War although others have commented that by establishing a buffer state the CAC may in fact be reducing the chances of a hot war. What is clear is that whilst the CAC and Emmerian populations are celebrating further economic growth, the Agathorian Emperor and His Government is facing criticism for not moving fast enough to stake a claim on their regional ambitions and looking politically sluggish in comparison to the CAC's regional dynamism. The contrast between open Agathorian Imperialism and it's views on the sovereign rights of smaller independent states is not comparing favourably with the CAC collaborative approach emphasising equal relations between economically and militarily unequal states, which has drawn criticism from a number of foreign governments and international organisations. We may be witnessing the birth of the Anean Cold War. (Thanks to Azrael for the Article) Results Private |

Of note, many of these citizens are from The Unitary State of Amestris, The Heavenly State of Guryeo and Union of Verrusian Soviet Republics. Many of these foreign nationals are being held on charges of spying and espionage. Citizens in the effected nations have been speaking out, demanding the return of their fellow citizens. Communism takes to the skies![]() Vostok- UVSR By order of the Supreme Soviet, and with support of the people of the UVSR, the state air carrier Aeroflot has been founded, bringing the UVSR to the forefront of modern travel in the world. The Air carrier is said to be operating in excess of a hundred planes, more than the air forces of several modern countries. Cooperation between Aeroflot and the UVSR military is significant, sharing material, pilots and equipment. Upon receiving the news, many cities and villages have spontanely started the construction of airfields, in advance of air service. Aeroflot currently focusses on rapid delivery of small goods and personnel, and the reliable delivery of large loads through the German build LZ-104, now known as USVR V-1 and USVR V-2. According to inside sources however, work has already started on the creation of a large cargo plane, capable of delivering loads to the more desolate parts of the countries, that don't have airship facilities. The UVSR once again shows the supremacy of Communism, in achieving welfare for it's people and the development of the nation. Results Private |
