September 3rd 1939, 0000 hours The situation on the Polish front is impossible to discern, however a rough picture of the situation has been pieced together by the Foreign Office from reports sent in by military attaches and Foreign Office personnel in Poland, and reports from the Polish government itself. The biggest thing of note is the fall of Danzig. Knowledge of the size and composition of the German forces involved is extremely hazy. Spoiler: click to toggle

Considering Poland is a fully independent state, and we have no armies yet on the continent let alone in Poland or in numbers that would justify us having a say on strategy on the Polish front: we have no influence.

I must insist on a meeting regarding the deployment of the BEF to the continent. It is of the utmost importance that we are prepared for a German strike against France. |

The Cabinet is waiting for you to comment on the size and composition you think appropriate, in the cabinet area. |

What are the chances of a quick diversionary strike at Berlin via the sea? Like what the Jerries pulled at Saaremaa last time. For the near future the western front looks stalemated and something has to be done. |

I do not recommend it, as losses would be larger than gains, and there is only a limited amount of success. |

Fair enough, it's on your lot mainly so if you oppose it. |

Hamburg or Wilhelmshaven would be a better target for any diversionary raids, as the sea lanes could still broadly be covered by fighter protection. It is unclear whether this would have any material effect on their war effort, though. What is the maximum range of our (strategic) bomber aircraft based around Dover? We might be able to risk a raid on key industrial centers if the situation gets worse. |
