Inspired by "My Daughter” by Reena Narayan. I instantly made me think of my inner child. It is something that I keep with me as I enjoy almost everything I liked as a kid and still get a feeling of joy when I go down the toy aisle of Target. This poem would be talking to someone’s inner child.
"Mikey"

I wrote this when I couldn't sleep the other night. I was playing with structure. Hence, the name.

My favorite is Cell Block 420B.

I really liked the roses poem, the one sentence version, and revised one. Not to sound sappy, but it painted a picture in my mind (that sounded sappy anyway didn't it?)

Do you write things besides poems? like are you working on a large piece or short stories or anything like that?

I actually have a short play that I wrote, but I don't really intend on putting it up since its like 8 pages. I'm unsure. I'd really like to turn it into a short story because I don't like plays.

You can always upload it as a .doc if you don't want to copy and paste the whole thing, that way it's easier for me to plagiarize in my creative writing class (Only joking :P)

Yea I think short stories are better too, they let you show your writing style better, plays is just dialog and actions

I have added a new poem at the bottom of the first post. It was an inspiration from another poem I read for class that had to do with the author's daughter. I don't have kids, but I do have an inner child. This is probably one of the most true-to-self poems I've written. Feedback is always welcome. If you liked it tell me what you liked, if you didn't like it tell me what to work on. Hope you enjoy.

I really liked that new one, it's an interesting concept to have the dialouge within the poem, which really works more than I expected it to be. It's really true and heartfelt. The only problem is that the last line "Mikey grabbed the controller and forcefully handed me the controller, as if I had a choice." sounds redundant, unless you did it on purpose, it should be changed to "Mikey grabbed the controller and forcefully handed it to me, as if I had a choice."

Good work

I'm glad you bring that up, because there was a line that I liked better that I forgot to write down. I'll change it now.

I like the new one, especially the format. I once had an assignment to write a story in a shape of what the story pertains to. It was terrible. Keep it up
