This season that just ended City spent £76,000,000 on players. £67,000,000 of that were for three players who are in their starting lineup. The year before that they spent £154,750,000. £143,500,000 was spent on players who are regularly in the starting line-up.
Basically in the last two seasons City has spent £200,000,000 on renewing the core of the team. Not to mention the £100,000,000s they've spent the two seasons before that.

In the last two seasons United spent £80,100,000 on their own core renewing quest while Arsenal have spent £67,650,000 and Chelsea have spent £182,100,000. Chelsea is close to City money wise because of it's own rich owner who wants trophies but since Chelsea didn't even make it into the top 4 this season no one pays much attention to their spending habits though I do believe (I could be wrong) that in recent years clubs have complained about Chelsea's spending as well.
