To bulk is to eat 500 calories(or more) above the amount if calories you require a day to maintain your weight. Along with protein, and fat, and carbs, but that is annoying to explain. When you bulk, you gain a lot of muscle, but you also gain a lot of fat. A bulk is usually followed by a cut, where you eat 500 under the amount to maintain. And obviously you have to exercise so you don't gain pure fat. I have done this so many times, and I am currently bulking again. I'm eating 3300 calories a day, which is fucking hard for some reason. Anyone have any high calorie foods to eat ? It doesn't have to be perfectly healthy, but I also don't want Doritos or chocolate bars. |

I never did the whole bulk and cut thing, but you can just buy carb powder and put it in anything. But in general anything low gi is fine. Bananas, brown rice, quinoa (this can be turned into porridge, used as a rice/pasta substitute and i had it with pretty much anything when i was serious about strength training, but those all should work i guess. |

I could definitely put bananas in the shake. What was your routine when you were strength training ? |

Never drunk a weiss beer. How does it taste? I googled it and I see there are like 2 brands that I could get easily, but is it even worth it? (I only mean the taste not the weight gain bullshit) |

In terms of diet, I was a little bit lazy about it at times so I never felt it was worthwhile to bulk and cut because I'd consume a ton of shitty food every week. (university lifestyle - alcohol, pizza, chips, chocolate, biscuits, mcdonalds and stuff) So I would do the 20-40 grams of protein per meal, with adequate (maybe about 20-30 grams carbs with each protein intake - didn't really care whether it was good or bad, the only time it would matter was if it was after training). Breakfast: cereal+protein powder/quinoa+protein powder Snack 1: whatever i felt like + fruit lunch: left overs of dinner or eggwhite omelette with chicken pieces, spinach, mushrooms and cheese pre training snack: protein shake (+creatine if I was taking it at the time) + banana&peanutbutter sandwich post training snack: protein shake dinner: whatever i felt like, usually meat+veg+rice/quinoa/pastry/bread. but sometimes id go out for dinner, or order in or whatever. before bed: casein or any slow release protein. it varied a lot when i trained sometimes id be more strict, other times i wouldn't be. but thats kind of a sample menu. id eat between fixed meals and stuff, it was mostly junk food tho. depends on how seriously you're taking it but you can cut the shit out of most meals. in terms of gyms days: monday: legs tuesday: chest triceps wednesday: back biceps thursday: rest friday: shoulders saturday: biceps, triceps, lower back sunday: rest i never stuck with one exercise consistently. but i still did the standard ones: legs: leg press, lunges . never changed my routine because of back problems, so the exercies when i was in a seat/lying down were the ones which suited me best. chest: dumbell press, incline bench press, cable flys and then a few others to mix it up each time. back: chin ups (wide grip, and inside grip) 3 sets, 12 reps each. seated row and then a few others to mix things up. i never did dead lifts, i've got lowerback problems so too risky. shoulders: military press, plate raises, lateral raises, others still mixing it up. biceps+triceps: should be straight forward. edit: dunno how the diet would work for you, i have a good metabolism and when i was training i was also playing soccer which was 3 training sessions a week and 1 game on the weekend, so i was able to keep fit while not eating too well.
