Brevis Village. At last. The first big step in her adventure had unfolded as she entered the village. It was a bit of a dreary day, despite it being high-noon, it seemed like night, due to a low covering of dark clouds. Anyone who was outside, had retreated to the poke-center if they didn't live in the village, or to their houses if they did. And naturally, it was Ilyana's first-stop to get out of the coming rain as well.

It took Ilyana all of 2 minutes to find the poke-center, would've been faster if the small center hadn't been hiding behind the poke-mart, making her practically walk up to the mart before being able to spot it. Stepping inside, lightning flashed behind her, sillouhetting her form, which would've otherwise been a grand entrance, except after the flash, ended, she jumped as the first big splitting thunder of the storm started, ruining the image for all of 1 trainer, and 2 other people probably in to retreat from the coming rain.

If you can't laugh at your self, who can you laugh at, and so Ilyana laughed a bit nervously, embarrassed at jumping, but it seemed she hadn't really thatered much more than a glance from the other, except for the Nurse Joy that, if Ilyana hadn't known better, having heard of the extensive family, would've thought she was back in Virda Town. The Nurse greeted her, with a smile and a wave.

Ilyana walked up to the desk, laying a pokeball on the table which contained her pokemon, Hood. A young Abra whom started the journey with her. "Mind taking a look at him, Nurse Joy?" she asked, as the Nurse took Hood into the back with a nod. While waiting, Ilyana found her way to a vending machine, purchasing a chocolate bar. A glance around her told her where the vid-phones were.

Stepping up to one of them, she picked up the tranceiver, planning on calling her Uncle. It had been 5 days since she'd left Virda Town, starting her adventure. To her, her life had already been threatened once while teaching Hood the TM her Uncle had given her, when a tree collapsed and they'd barely gotten out of the way. She dialed the number, putting the phone part to her ear.

"Hello?" someone said on the other side, speaking into her ear, his voice a nice rememberance for Ilyana.

"Uncle!" she said smiling, though no image on her screen popped up.

"Ilyana? That you? It's nice to hear your voice, I take it you made it to Brevis no problem" his voice spoke through, a little fuzzy. "Sorry about this, there's no camera on this phone."

"That's fine, and Yeah, made it here no problems, thanks a lot for the TM, Hood learned it no problem." No need to make him worry about already almost dying from a fallen tree. Thinking of the tree reminded her of the thing hidden in the trunk. "Hey Uncle, your into researching weird things, right?" she asked.

"Yeah, you find something cool or something?" he asked, chuckling a little. "Just show it to the camera, I can see you." he said, and with no strings attached, the little disk she had found in the trunk of a tree, floated up between them on its own. "Ah, that's a TM disk, much rarer than the one I gave you. What's the serial number on it?"he asked.

"Serial Number?"

"Should be on the back." he said, mentally face-palming, as the disk spun showing the back to Ilyana. She had only looked at the one side when she'd found it. "I can't read it over the vid, it's too fuzzy."

Ilyana listed off the numbers on the back, and after a few seconds of thinking, his voice spoke in her ear again. "That must be the one that contains Flash." he told her. "I gotta go, I'll talk to you later, Ilyana, and good luck" and he hung up, busy with his own things.

"Flash huh?" Ilyana said hanging it up, munching on the chocolate bar. Flash, a move that presented a sharp increase of visible light, blinding the opponent, and lowering their accuracy. "Kinda like lightning" she said, standing up, moving to a table to enjoy the rest of her chocolate bar.

It didn't take long for the local nurse joy to finish checking up on Hood, and Ilyana left, almost right away, stopping only to toss the wrapper away at the garbage at the door. Despite the rain, now was the perfect time with the bright flashed of lightning surging through the air to teach Hood.

Alright Hood" she said, as she left out one side of the village, away from the housed to allow her plenty of room to move. "Ok Hood, today we're going to teach you Flash. It's a bright flick of light that lowers the accuracy of the opponent." she explained, listening to the instructions on it. "Kind of like the lightning" she said, pointing up, and as if on command, a lightning flashed over-head.

The abra at first didn't seem to understand exactly what she meant, staring at the clouds, watching the lightning race across the sky. "Brraaaa?" he seemed to ask.

"Lightning, bright lights, fwoosh" she said, a bit in desperation, she couldn't think of a way to make it much clearer. But thankfully after a full 30 seconds it clicked inside the Abra's head. "Abra" he said, raising his head up and down, in an action for approval he had learned from watching Ilyana.

"Ok!" Ilyana said, happily, knowing that he finally understood. "Try and light up, Hood, use flash!" she commanded, and the Abra seemed to start concentrating hard. This was different than toxic which he was able to produce right away. It was a different type, and different parts of the mind needing to be used for it.

Minutes of concentration, and Abra was able to glow slightly. Slightly. "You're a candle Hood" Ilyana said, as her Abra opened his slitted eyes, looking at his slightly glowing frame, as the rain poured around them, though it faded as he stopped concentration.

"Alright, stop trying so hard, you're straining yourself. Relax, and make it one single burst, rather than constant." Ilyana said, watching Hood, hitting pause on the little voice telling her how to teach her Abra Flash. The Abra in question, closed his eyes, and a flicker of light, came from him. A dull lamp, and as Ilyana told him, he didn't try and hold it, but kept it a flicker, lighting up about every 5 seconds, progressively brighter.

Ilyana watched and after about 20 minutes of being soaked in the rain, she had to avert her eyes from Hood's form, blinking away the spots. "Hey Hood, let's go back inside, you deserve a break" she said, though a bit more than a need for him to rest, but a need for both of them to get out of the worsening storm.

They went back to the pokecenter, inquiring about a room for the night, the storm probably wouldn't clear up soon, and she wanted to sleep on a bed. The Nurse Joy informed her that there was, and she paid for the one night, moving to it. Tomorrow, or whenever she woke up, she'd leave. After getting used to travel a little bit, she didn't want to settle so soon for more than the night, despite the rain.

Next day, it was still a bit dreary, and rather dark, due to the heavy cloud cover. She was out of there, early morning, even before the crack of dawn if she had been able to see the sun anyways. About 5 miles out, heading North, it was dark still, but it was clear it was going to clear up soon. "Hood, c'mon out" she said, summoning the Abra. A bit more practice before it'd become bright.

"Try Flash" she said, forgetting to cover her eyes, receiving a practical slap from the bright light from him. "Ouch" she said, rubbing her streaming eyes. "I think you got it" she said, pushing the heel of her palm into her streaming eyes. They'd hurt for the day, she could tell that much already. "Return" she said, aiming the pokeball at Hood recaling him. She moved off the path, closing her eyes, leaning on a tree.

She must have drifted off, because when she opened them again, the clouds had moved on, and she blinking through the green light of leaves. But something was off. Just not right. She looked across, and around, nothing. "Huh..." she thought, looking to her right, regretting she had, a boulder in the sun, was reflecting the sun onto her currently sensitive eyes. "Ouch!" she cried, and felt something wriggle in her lap.

Blinking a couple times, looking down at a black furred bundle in her lap. "Wh-wha...?" she sounded confused by this, still waking up, it didn't occur to her what it was. It wriggled again, poking a head up. "Eevee" the eevee spoke, standing up, circling, and laying its head back down on Ilyana's lap. "An eevee?" Looks more tired than I am, she thought, yawning, sub-consciously laying a hand down on the Eevee's head.

A few minutes of semi-petting of waking up, Ilyana stood up, shouldering her pack, and started walking off back North. She turned her head, raising a brow. The black-furred eevee had followed her. "Uhm... Hi?" Ilyana asked, and the Eevee walked up to her, sitting calmly next to her, looking up, then forward.

I guess, you want to come with?" Ilyana asked, holding out an empty pokeball, and when the Eevee didn't run, or back up, the only action this eevee gave Ilyana was a look up at her, towards her eyes, rather than the pokeball. Ilyana, being the trainer she was, she'd hoped her first decent encounter with a wild would be a bit more exciting, but, a pokemon was a pokemon. She dropped the pokeball, and the Eevee didnt resist the capture.

"Huh! That's cool" Ilyana said, raising her hand over where the pokeball lay, and it rose up to her hand, becoming small on the way. She wondered why it had been so comfortable to sleep on her lap, but that was a mystery for another day, because,

The Forest of Altra awaited her.
