The first thing Matt noticed upon entering the large cavern was the musty smell. It overpowered him for a moment before he regained his senses and noticed the faint sound of trickling water. Eevee cowered against his leg whimpering in fear, while Snover, the braver of the two, ventured a few steps beyond them. He cried out in surprise as a few droplets of water dripped from a staglagtite hanging overhead and landed on his head and shoulders. Eevee, hearing him cry out, squealed and ran behind Matt. Matt slapped his hand against his face dragging it down and then kneeled by the skitish pokemon. Not that he blamed poor Lira for being so skitish, ground/normal-type Pokemon didn't have many advantages in caves such as this one.

"There now Lira, Bernard was simply startled by some drops of water." He pointed up at the staglagtites hanging a few hundred feet above them, "They came from there, see?" The tiny Eevee peeked its head out from behind Matt's leg and looked up nervously. She blinked a few times then took a tentative step towards Bernard. When nothing jumped out to attack her Lira perked up her soft brown ears and looked up, examining the stalagtites more carefully. She confirmed they were nothing more dangerous than a flower, unless of coarse they were to fall, and went to stand besides Bernard. Luckily the ice Pokemon hadn't held a grudge against Eevee for beating him in a battle and he smiled down at the much tinier Pokemon. Eevee trilled happily and rubbed up against him. Matt smiled softly at the sight then called the two back to his side.

He spoke softly as he began pulling containers of Pokemon food out of his bag and setting them near Lira and Bernard. "Rest up and eat now because in half an hour, that's thirty minutes from now, we will begin our training." Lira twitched her ears back and forth and Bernard looked at him focused as he spoke. "I wish to catch one of the dragon type Pokemon that live here, preferably a Dratini or a Dragonair. But understand this, neither of you are to go within ten feet of the water, under ANY circumstances. Understand?" Lira and Bernard exchanged glances wondering why their friend had trembled as he warned them about the water. After sharing a moment's glance they both looked up at him and nodded, if he told them to stay away, he must have a good reason. "Alrighty then, let's eat!" Matt said placing thier food down in front of them and pulling out a sandwich and some fruit for himself.

Suddenly, the ground around Matt, his Eevee, and his Snover started to tremble violently.

Without warning, a rock that had previously been protruding from the ground shot upwards, floating in mid air. The perculiar rock hovered there for a moment, when two arms suddenly shot out from it. The arms flexed and extended as a face then appeared on the rock. Unfortunately, the face looked to be quite irritated.

"Geodude." The rock opened it's eyes, watching the travelers warily.

Obviously, the Geodude wasn't too thrilled with having people invade it's territory - and with good reason. Humans very rarely ventured down into these caves, so most likely the rock Pokemon had never had the opportunity to see a human before. So, it hovered there, glaring.

"Geodude, geo!" It rasped and then chucked a rock at Matt.

Matt's eyes widened in fear as the bolder flew at him, he dodged to the side but it caught him on the shoulder and he cried out in pain, crumpling to the ground. Lira shrieked in surprised while Bernard's eyes narrowed becoming almost hostile, how dare this intrusive Pokemon hurt his friend. Eevee stood frozen to the spot, unable to move until it heard Matt groan softly. Lira slowly twitched her ears back towards the sound. "Lira stand back, Snover this is your battle." Matt said through clenched teeth as he gripped his injured shoulder tightly. A small trickle of blood seeped through his fingers and he winced inwardly. When Lira remained frozen to the spot where she stood he once again called out to her, " Lira please, you aren't ready to fight rock type Pokemon." Lira hesitantly took a step back, not moving her gaze from the angry Geodude, then quickly turned around and bolted back to Matt's side. Matt pulled the tiny Pokemon into his lap and looked up as the Geodude and Bernard glared at each other.

"Bernard use blizzard!" He called to the Pokemon. Bernard immediately inhaled deeply and the temperature seemed to drop considerably. His mouth began to glow softly with a bluish white tint and he continued inhaling until his lungs reached full capacity. Then, all at once, the air was unleashed in a flurry of snowflakes and ice, creating a huge blizzard that raged around the cavern, dropping the temperature even lower.

ooc. Just as a side note, as much as I would love to give you a one hit KO here, I want you to earn a respectable battle point. Which means that both the Geodude and Bernard each need to exchange three or four good moves each before the battle is over. Just wanted you to know before you started thinking the Geodude had super powers and could withstand Blizzards, baha.

bic. As the temperature dropped in the cave, the Geodude slammed it’s fist together and tucked it’s arms in. It’s rocky exterior glowed white for a moment as the Defense Curl allowed the freezing cold air to whiz past, protecting it’s face from the frigid air. After the Blizzard had subsided for the time being, the rock uncurled itself and cried out, it’s fists waving widely in the air. The edges of the Geodude’s round body took on a brown aura and the cave started to shake.

“Geo!”

The Magnitude attack caused the already unstable ground in the cave to rumble, as the stalagmites on the roof of the cave wavered precariously above Matt and his team. With the ground was still quaking, the rock Pokemon suddenly slammed it’s clenched fist into the ground. The resulting impact send several rocks flying into the air, all aimed at Bernard.

The cave continued to quake and rumble, small rocks falling from the crumbling walls. If the Magnitude attack wasn't stopped soon, the result would be an inevitable cave-in with a more than furious Geodude.

Matt looked at the Geodude in shock, that blizzard attack should have wiped the Geodude flat on its face, but instead, it hadn't effected it at all. Bernard shared in his confusion but not for long seeing as their were extremely large boulders hurdling at him. Matt searched his minds for ideas, he wasn't entirely familiar with Bernard's attacks and had to wrack his brain for thoughts. What attacks does he know already? What attacks can he learn even? Snover is grass and ice type, both of which are good against ground and rock type Pokemon.... so a good attack would be.. "Bernard use Ice Beam to stop the rocks then follow it up with Grass Whistle," Matt called out to the surprised looking Pokemon.

Bernard hesitated for only a second before focusing its gaze on the quickly approaching rocks and opened his mouth wide. A bright blue sphere began to form in the back of his mouth growing in size rapidly. When it seemed that the sphere was about to explode the capacity of his mouth Bernard roared and sent a frigid beam of solid ice flying at the boulders stopping them dead in their tracks. "Good job Bernard! Now Grass Whistle!" Bernard nodded and inhaled, not as deeply this time, but still a decent amount. He closed his eyes and began whistling a soft, slow lullaby that filled the entire cavern and made even Matt blink his eyes sleepily. Lira fell asleep curled up in his lap, and he didn't notice how badly his shoulder was hurting anymore. Bernard continued the tune softly, slowly opening his eyes and watching his openent carefully, the song never wavering.

ooc. Since you seem to want to try a trainer battle, I'll make this quick.

"Geodude..." The floating boulder cried out, flexing it's arms wildly as it continued to toss rocks in Bernard's direction.

But suddenly, coupled with the chill wind, it stopped and wavered unsurely in that spot as if it were frozen. In truth, it's rocky eyelids fluttered heavily as the melancholy tone filled the cave, trying it's hardest to fight the urge to sleep. It made a haphazard attempt to lift another rock, but suddenly fell, rolling to a stop.

Finally, it was asleep.

As the song continued to fill the cave, three or four Zubat that had been perched on the stalactites above suddenly fell down, landing all around Matt and his Pokemon in a comical fashion.

ooc: turn this into a capture? acceptable, i hope so >.>

Bernard, upon seeing that the Geodude had been successfully put to sleep, stop whistling and looked over at the sleeping Lira and Matt, who was struggling to blink the sleep from his eyes. Bernard made a soft sound and shook his shoulder gently. Matt rubbed his eyes and gently set Lira down on his bag. Standing slowly in case any of his limbs had fallen asleep, Matt stretched quickly and reached for an unused Poke Ball on his belt. Once he had it in his hand he pressed the center button and it enlarged. "Geodude, welcome to the gang." Matt pressed the button again and Geodude was absorbed into the poke ball. It glowed softly and shook from side to side for a few seconds before finally the glow faded and the poke ball stayed still. Bernard cheered and Lira, just having awoke, smiled slightly.

Approved. c:

Although, I'm not sure why you would want a Geodude. They're creepy...

Also, one battle point for Bernard, even if it was a quick one.
