The sun’s reflection off the crystalline waters was speckled across the small umbrella set up just off the bank, the trainer relaxing beneath it taking full advantage of that rare sunny, warm day at the lake. While it wasn’t much of a beach, Hannah had found a small but decent sandy stretch of shore on the south side of the massive lake. This was something she had definitely needed after that nasty encounter at the rotten pond; her drying clothes, freshly washed, were hung over a nearby branch, giving her the opportunity to finally wear that batching suit she had packed but never gotten the opportunity to use. Off to the side, Shaymin was waddling about in the grass following Honey, who was busy rooting around in the nearby dirt for something edible. Bonnie was doing the same, with a little more success, pulling up mouthfuls of grass and grazing as far away from the water as possible. Rose and Cher, on the other hand, were perfectly content vanishing beneath the crystalline waters for at least twenty minutes at a time before surfacing, the Dragonite and Milotic right at home under the water.

Meanwhile, another woman clad in a bathing suit pulled herself onto shore, sopping wet and sorely disappointed. Frowning, the red-haired woman removed some sort of underwater breathing apparatus from her mouth and turned back to look to the lake behind her. Sighing, she rubbed the back of her head, seeming conflicted. Defeated, the woman, named Jodie, began to trudge away sullenly, shoving the breathing apparatus back into her backpack. She murmured to herself indignantly, but vowed to return and finish what she started. She seemed to be walking with a slight limp, as if she had somehow hurt her ankle while swimming or whatever it was she had been doing.

“I wish I could reach them... I need a Pokemon that can dive... I can’t do this by myself...”

Clutching the bag over her shoulders, she suddenly paused in mid step, hearing a myriad of Pokemon voices around the bend. For a moment, she thought it was just coincidence until she heard another voice, this one clearly human, saying “Rose, don’t splash me!” in the distant. With a newfound sense of confidence, Jodie rushed forward, her hopes confirmed when she saw the group, two of which were Pokemon capable of swimming underwater. There was hope! Grinning broadly, the red-haired woman began to run towards the trainer and her team, waving her arms frantically. Upon reaching the makeshift ‘camp’, Jodie barely gave Hannah anytime to reply before jutting her hand out. Hannah, blinking confusedly, took the woman’s hand and shook it, although she was a bit confused. She could have sworn they were alone here... what other person would possibly be at this secluded lake, and swimming at that? Well, she assumed the woman was swimming from her current soak and wet condition. Before Hannah could even open her mouth to ask what was wrong, Jodie spoke up.

“I’m so sorry to disturb you, I just... I just need a little bit of help. You see, I don’t have any Pokemon and something very important to me is at the bottom of that lake. It’s quite a long story, but while boating here a day ago, I accidentally dropped it overboard and have been trying desperately ever since to retrieve it.” She explained. Despite her explanation, it was still incredibly vague, so much so that Hannah raised her brows imploringly. Why couldn’t the woman just swim down and retrieve whatever it is that she had lost by herself?
“Uh, well, I don’t suppose Cher and Rose would mind helping you out but... what exactly did you loose at the bottom and, uh, how deep is this thing?” She asked, much to the woman’s dismay.
“At the very bottom... too far for me to swim by myself. I lost... my, uh, my grandmother’s locket and I really need it back. I'm not sure where it is... I have a breathing mask, but I just can’t dive that deep. Won’t you please help me?”

Met with an imploringly desperate look from the woman, Hannah smiled on the corner of her mouth and scratched her head. “Of course we can help you get it back. Hear that, Cher, Rose?”
The two Pokemon nodded in response. Leaving Honey, Shaymin, and Bonnie on shore, Hannah waded into the waters with Jodie at her side, the two adorning breathing apparatuses like before. Jodie took hold of Rose would Hannah held fast onto Cher and the four descended beneath the crystalline waters. It was incredibly easy to see, even without goggles, however the deeper they went, the less light was available. The pressure difference wasn't much of a problem, even as they neared the white, sandy bottom of the lake. Jodie pointed frantically to something in the distance, which appeared to be a small suitcase half buried in the soft sand at the bottom. Just as the group picked up speed, something large cast a shadow overhead, blocking the sunlight. Startled, Hannah looked back, eyes widening as she saw a massive, enraged looking Gyrados looming over them.

Territorial and obviously wary of trespassers, the massive serpentine Pokemon let out a loud roar that caused the water around them distort and bend; Water Pulse. Struggling to hold onto Cher, Hannah wrapped her arms around the Milotic as Jodie did the same to Rose, the trainer unable to command the Pokemon. In self defense, Rose opened her mouth, releasing a Dragon Rush attack through the water towards the Gyrados, only to have the serpentine Pokemon suddenly twist its body. It's tail spinning like a propeller, the dragon-type easily warded off the attack, further enraged by the intruders. Letting out another massive roar, the water around the group started to churn, sweeping them away in the current created by the Gyrados' Whirlpool attack. Being nearly ten times their size and obviously a high level Pokemon, added with the fact the attack had caught them off guard, the Gyrados easily swept the group away, sending them careening away and eventually towards the surface.

As the four broke the surface of the water, Hannah tore the breathing mask off her face, gasping for air. Jodie reemerged beside her, doing the same. Rose and Cher followed suit, offering their bodies for the two woman to hold on to, since there were in the middle of the lake.
"A Gyrados!" Hannah gasped in disbelief, clutching onto Cher's backside. "That didn't look like a locket; was it inside that trunk? I thought you said you didn't know where it was? You seemed pretty sure back there." Hannah sputtered, suddenly suspicious of the woman after nearly being killed by a wayward Gyrados. After all, it did seem a bit odd that she claimed to not know where the locket was, yet found it after only a few minutes of searching. Besides, who keeps their lockets in a trunk?

"Alright, I lied, I lied! I knew where it was - and it's not a locket. But listen! Before you get mad, here me out! I'm a Pokemon Breeder, and I really did loose something very important to me in the water. I lost a chestful of baby Pokemon in their Pokeballs while trying to take a shortcut across the lake. They should be fine inside their balls, but.. I could never reach them because of that Gyrados chasing me away. I don't have any Pokemon to help either, see, I just breed them." Jodie explained breathlessly. Hannah's expression turned from furious to disbelief, not understanding why she couldn't have just told her that in the first place.

"Why didn't you just tell me about the Gyrados? I could have helped you!" Hannah exclaimed.

"I-I was too afraid of you saying no. Besides, I thought maybe if the Gyrados saw other Pokemon, it wouldn't attack. I'm sorry, really, I am.. I'm just worried about my Pokemon." The woman apologized with a sincere look of concern. Hannah's face softened considerably, realizing that the woman was telling the truth now. While she didn't completely understand why she had lied in the first place, she could look past it - now that she knew what was really in the box, she couldn't leave it there either. So, flashing a small, reassuring smile on the corner of her mouth, the dark-haired girl spoke with a renewed sense of confidence. They couldn't defend themselves under the water because they hadn't been prepared - now, however, they were.

"Don't worry, I have an idea. We'll get your Pokemon back."

"Are you sure this will work?" Jodie asked nervously, peering down at the crystal clear waters below.

With a confident nod from Hannah, the two strapped the breathing masks around their faces, nodded to one another, and descended into the depths with the help of Rose and Cher. As they swam towards the trunk, Cher's tendrils wafted against the current, turning this way and that as if scanning the water for something. Then, just as the chest came into view, Cher let out a piercing wail, signifying the presence of the Gyrados. Right on que, the gargantuan beast suddenly burst suddenly burst in, gaping mouth emitting deep snarls. Hannah extended her hand towards the chest, that being the sign for Rose to follow through with their plan; the dragon Pokemon took Jodie from her back and 'threw' her through the water, propelling her downward towards the chest, then did the same with Hannah, at which point the two females quickly latched onto the heavy trunk to prevent floating back up to the surface.

Infuriated that the humans were still attempting to trespass on its territory, the beast of a Pokemon twisted its body around in an attempt to Tail Whip the two woman, only to be pushed back by a Water Pulse from Cher. Rose further distracted the beast by swimming in circles around its head, dodging the occasional snap of its jaws. Focused on the two Pokemon, the Gyrados forgot about Hannah and Jodie, allowing the two to work on opening the chest and rescuing the Pokeballs. Both took hold of one end of the trunk each, tugging desperately to pull it from the soft silt at the lake's bottom. If they could just dislodge it enough to open the lid, they could make their escape with the Pokemon...

Meanwhile, the Gyrados, fed up with the circling and constant evading of the two Pokemon, started to form a ball of energy within the front of its mouth. Preparing for the oncoming Hyper Beam, Rose and Cher ducked beneath the serpent-like monster. Unleashing the powerful attack, the Gyrados spun around frantically, the beam of energy chasing close behind Rose and Cher, even coming so close as to clip the fanned end of Cher's tail. The Milotic let out a pained wail, a small amount of blood tainting the otherwise clear waters. Once the beam of energy had faded, leaving the enraged Gyrados to recharge, the aforementioned Milotic suddenly turned, torn tail glowing a bright blue color as she swam back towards the beast. Countering with an Aqua Tail to the Gyrados' stomach, the beast was sent reeling forward, mouth open in an attempt to bite Cher.

Rose attacked immediately afterward, distracting the Gyrados from its Bite attack with an onslaught of a Dragon Rush attack. Despite being exhausted, the Gyrados easily avoided the attack by lifting its tail in front of its face, spinning it like a propeller to send the waves of attack straight back to Rose. The waves of energy hit the Dragonite dead on, sending it flying backwards through the water. It was super effective, considering how the Gyrados had used its own Dragon type attack against it. Teeth clenched, Rose swam forward once more, tail glowing a bright white color as if she were going to Iron Tail the Gyrados on the stomach. She faked it out at the last second, however, suddenly veering to the left and flitting above the best, slamming her tail into the top of its head. The Gyrados let out a roar and was sent into the sea floor below, stirring up an explosion of silt and sand.

Completely enraged, the serpentine beast let out an appropriately named Rage attack, launching itself off the lake floor and towards the duo of Pokemon. After managing to bite Cher's tail, the Gyrados gave chase to the two as they swam off, leading he infuriated beast away from Hannah and Jodie. Speaking of the two women, they were still desperately trying to dislodge the chest from the sand that had almost vacuumed it to the bottom. Finally, after several failed attempts, the chest finally budged just enough to uncover the lid, much to Jodie's elation. With the combined effort of the two, they opened the chest, revealing an array of at least ten or more Pokeballs. Though Hannah couldn't make out what the Breeder was saying, she heard the woman squeal happily beneath her breathing mask, hands clasped together joyously. The trainers wasted no time collecting the Pokeballs and shoving them into a small pouch tied to each of their waists.

About that time, Rose and Cher were returning with the Gyrados in tow. Hannah waved her arms frantically, signifying to the Dragonite that they had retrieved the Pokemon. Sweeping past with arms outstretched, Rose snatched up both the humans, one in each arm and shot upwards towards the surface, Cher and the Gyrados following close behind. Unlike before, the beast didn't stop mid way once they had left its territory, no - it was thoroughly pissed and fully determined to maim them this time. So came the final portion of their plan, dealing with the creature once and for all. At breakneck speeds, Rose and Cher shot upwards towards the surface, so fast that Hannah and Jodie weren't able to keep their eyes open anymore.

Both Pokemon breached the surface like a duo of Wailmer, flying up into the air, followed by the Gyrados. Rose flapped her wings, turning in mid air to face the beast, while Cher was forced to just flop uselessly. Using this opportunity now that they were all out of the water, Rose rushed forward, first clenched with sparks of electricity crackling around it. The punch mad contact with the center of the beast's forehead, sparks dancing throughout the Gyrados entire body, even as it fell limp back into the lake. Cher finally landed back in the water as well, ducking beneath the water safely now that the electricity was gone and the Gyrados had been fainted. Smiling triumphantly, Rose carried both the humans back to shore, sitting them down gently back at Hannah's lakeside campsite from before.

Tearing the breathing mask from her face, Jodie jumped up and down excitedly. "Oh, it worked! I found them, they're safe! Oh thank you, Hannah, and your Pokemon! Thank you so much!"
After taking both pouchful of Pokeballs in her hand, Jodie thankfully wrapped her arms around Hannah in a tight embrace, then Rose, a grand smile spread across her face. Hannah returned the smile, pushing her sopping hair from her face. All initial disdain towards the Breeder had fully vanished at this point upon seeing her elation at being reunited with her Pokemon. Sure, she had lied, but someone who cared enough about her Pokemon to face a pissed off Gyrados couldn't have been that bad of a person.

"You're welcome, Jodie, I'm glad to have helped. Are those your Pokemon that you breed?" She asked curiously.

"No, no, I just breed and then raise them. I give them away to starting trainers who don't mind having a baby Pokemon. In fact, I'm so glad that you helped me that I insist that you have these..." Jodie paused, rummaging through the pouch of Pokeballs and taking out two, to which she offered the girl. At first, Hannah raised her hand to object, only to have the Pokeballs once more shoved into her stomach in insistence until she took them. Looking down at the two mysterious capsules, she smiled gratefully.
"I... don't know what to say but thank you, Jodie." She murmured.

The Pokemon Breeder merely nodded and packed her remaining Pokemon away inside of her bag with the utmost care. "Don't mention it, it is the very last I could do. I must get going, but once again, thank you."
With that said, the red-haired woman draped her bag over her shoulders and set off. Hannah waved until the woman was out of view, then remembered the two Pokemon she had been given. Realizing she had no idea what was inside the balls, she tossed them into the air, releasing the two mystery Pokemon. After the color filled the two, the two mysterious infantile Pokemon were revealed to be an incredibly small Vulpix and Sandshrew. The fox was obviously a baby; it was half the size of any Vulpix she had ever seen. The Sandshrew was reasonably sized, but peered up at her with glassy, uncertain eyes after being stuck inside of their balls for a full two days.

Hannah blinked and kneeled down, to which the two baby Pokemon cautiously stepped forward.
"How about," The trainer started, extending her hand towards the Vulpix. "I call you Pixie. And you,"
She extended her other hand, placing it on the Sandshrew's scaly head. "Ginger."
