Once again, Matthew had to stop running to catch his breath. His Aron - who actually wasn't an Aron at all any more - stopped as well, but he didn't seem to need to suck in deep, desperate breaths like his trainer was. He wheezed a couple of times, sneezed (which sounded a bit like somebody dropping a sheet of metal on a hard floor) and started rubbing his armour against a nearby rock.

"I don't know why I kept this," Matt whined, rummaging around in his bag. He pulled out the 80lb lump of solid steel that Titan had shed before evolving, that he had kept because he was sure it would be worth something to someone, and it seemed a shame just to leave it in the park.

Titan had finished scratching himself against the side of the mountain and had left a sizeable dent in the rock, lumbering over to lap up some of the water that had collected in a puddle nearby. Matt copied by swigging away at his water bottle, and then sat down, sheltered by the walls of the mountain that spread out to create a shallow cave-like entrance.

"I guess we can stay here for the night," he said, and yawned. He curled up on the cold floor and then, on a lonely whim, released his other pokemon. Pyrite the Snorunt's stomach growled and he didn't look much happier when presented with a little Oran berry, but the little Deerling he'd picked up seemed delighted at it, and gulped down three. "You're healing up alright, aren't you?" he said softly, laying a hand on the little thing's head. He wasn't sure anymore if he wanted to release it back into the wild.

Alisha seemed glad when the Sawk of the other started to help out, breaking some of the rocks down enough that they were much easier to move aside before Alisha heard what seemed to be the climax of the fight down below, her ending up smashing her way through the barricade, the rocks that flew inwards ending up as a small ramp down to the under area, even if it wasn't a nice perfect slope. It was about enough that the others who followed her wouldn't need to fall down quite so much.

She groaned as she make it back to her feet from scrambling through the door, quickly sliding down the rest of the area to end up next to Matt.

"You been okay down here?" she asked, seeming quite worried for the small group.

Jake stepped through the settling dust, Jet at his side. They looked on the others as they got into the room. "Are you alright?" he asked the boy trainer, who could only be the one Alisha called Matt. Though his tone was less out of concern and more of a courtesy that one asks another in this certain situation. Jet said nothing but wiped some dust from his Gi. He liked to keep it immaculate.

Matt looked guiltily at Alisha, and then back at Aqua, who she presumably hadn't noticed yet. "Uh, I have some good news," he said hopefully, "and some bad news." He carefully propped the Kingdra up to show her. "I, uh, yeah. Well.. here." He smiled uncertainly.

Then he turned to the other guy, the newbie. "Oh," he said. "Well hi there. Did you help Alisha get past the rocks? That's good." He looked at the Sawk, and then jumped. "Christ, what is that thing?" he said before he could stop himself, not even noticing it when Dancer hopped gracefully over to him to nuzzle his side.

Alisha seemed a little confused what Matt started talking about good news and bad news, until her eyes shifted over towards where the lilac Kingdra were laying on the ground unconscious. She quickly moved over next to him, kneeling down next to the fallen seahorse, lifting his head softly and stroking the scales on the side of his face.

"Poor Aqua..." she mused quietly, reaching for his pokéball in order to let him get some rest elsewhere away from the dark and the rocks of this place. A small part of her considered getting Amy out to see if she could help him, but she decided against it, knowing that she'd joined the team looking for fun and adventure, not to be just a mobile pokécentre for her and her team.

She slowly stood back up, turning to the two boys with the saddened smile of not having been able to help out her team mate, nor see him evolve again so soon.

'Sawk!' Jet cried a little offended, Jake offered no smile only an explanation.

"This thing is Jet, he is a Sawk" he started. "And yes it was him who broke through the rocks to get over here, although not in time it looks like" he watched as Alisha returned her kingdra. 'What happened here?' He asked, Jet nodding in agreement with Jake's question.

"A sock?" Matt repeated, and then nodded slowly at Jake as if he thought he was a little special in the head. "Alright then."

He sighed and stretched, and then moved towards the exit that the Golems had fled from, and pointed through it. "I guess this is the way forwards," he said with a small shrug, looking to Alisha for approval. He then looked down at his Deerling, who was jumping left and right trying to get his attention. "Yes, I know, we were separated for like a whole four minutes," he said impatiently, then patted him and moved forwards, Dancer right at his heels.

"I'm not looking forward to whatever we run into next," he said, looking at their pokemon. They were slowly being worn down.

Alisha managed to break a slightly happier smile at Matt's small lack of understanding for the strange blue pokémon that she'd been accompanied by, and it did help seeing the excitement of the Deerling that she'd been with.

"It can't be too bad from now on though, right? We gotta be at least half way through." she said, seeming a little determined, but she did at least know there was another pokémon on her team she could bring out to help defend them if it was needed as she moved forwards towards where the Golem had been defending.

Jake scoffed at the two trainers and began chuckling quietly. "You should train your pokemon more, they lack the stamina to make it to the end of this cave." He started. "And by the way, the cave has no other exit than the one you two came in with. We've been training down here for weeks. Further down the way there is an underground lake, it must be heated by something because its boiling. Just thought you two should know." His face semi mocking. He strutted past the two bewildered trainers and started down the corridor to find that titan of a Golem. His Sawk following behind him, chin held high.

Matthew growled as this new arrival managed to insult every one of his pokemon in one fell swoop. He ignored the comment about the cave's exit - he could make his own damn exit - and rounded on the man.

"Ok, you think you and your sock are so bloody fantastic, what do you say to a battle?" He looked over to Alisha, then back to the new guy. "How about two against one?" He was visibly bristling at what he had said. "Or even one against one. Who cares, I don't care. Just battle me." Matthew started to bounce on the balls of his feet, aggression rising. "Battle me. You scared? Yeah I bet you are. I bet that thing is-"

Pyrite kicked him in the shin and he shut up. For now.

"Matt, calm down." Alisha frowned, moving towards him, placing a hand on his shoulder, giving him a look for a moment.

"If you feel desperate to let out something, feel free to try and punch me, but I'm not helping your hand when you do." she said, turning away, though seeming to be agreeing with his sentiment of being able to make their own exit if they needed it.

They moved on, soon coming across the other Golem who turned to growl at them, Alishas hand moving to the last pokéball of her team that she was willing to use, though seeming hesitant to let him out, just in case something worse was just around the bend when the Sawk that had just turned up still had its energy.

Jake said nothing. Instead he laughed at the boy's rash comment. 'I will take you up on that offer when our bussiness here is finished' laughing again when the snorunt pegged him in the shin. Matt didn't seem to like this but Alisha's retort had made all the bickering stop. Jake followed along in silence, his Sawk following suit, he didn't want his back to this kid in case he decided to get squirly. It wasn't long before they came across the golem.

'Save your pokemon, we may need it' he said seeming to read her mind. He held a hand up to stay her as he and Jet walked by. He stole a cocky glance at matt. 'Ill take this one, watch and learn bud.' He told the trainer who was obviously fuming by Jake's apparent swagger. The Golem turned full facing at the approaching Sawk. 'Alrighty Jet, open up with a High jump kickA then after that hit him with a low sweep!'

Jet's answer came in the form of a flying side kick, normally such a rash move wouldn't be used first but this lumbering rock beast was hard to miss. The golem groaned staggering back as the Sawk's foot crashed into it. As fluidly as water sawk spun, his leg locked out going low and kicking the giant in the knees kncoking him to the ground with an ensuing crash.

'Take notes kid' jake said grinning towards matt as the golem struggled to get to it's feet one eye closed in pain. Fighting is super effective against rock.

"Well, yeah, if you have a type advantage," Matthew muttered, watching the battle and still obviously angry. He knew he could defeat the ugly blue homunculus if he wanted to; he just needed to wait until they were out of the caves. As much as he hated to admit it to himself, the kid was right: they needed to get out of here first, not waste their pokemon's energy on (albeit very important) battles.

"Finish it, Titan," he said. The weary Lairon leapt over, cheerily yelled Kill steal! to Jet, and smashed into the Golem with an Iron Head, causing it to roll backwards and then lie there motionless. "Good boy," he said gruffly, and continued onwards through the cave. He felt himself starting to sweat as they descended further.

"Is it me or is it getting hotter?" he said, purposely only looking at Alisha and waving the collar of his t-shirt around to cool himself down.

Alisha smiled faintly as she saw Titan seeming to be looking so proud at what he'd done before the group carried on down that little bit further.

"Hmm, it does seem to be getting a little warmer..." she mused, looking to Angel who nodded quickly in agreement. She seemed to be feeling the heat more than Alisha, though if it carried on the way it did Alisha would be feeling it bad.

"There's no volcano under here, is there? Though that was just the Warupt area..." she frowned, trying to work out what would be causing it out of either magma or some fire types, but why would fire types be all the way out here?

Jake pressed his mouth into a firm line but said nothing as the Lairon interfered. Let it have it's victory, he knew who really did all the work. Jet, however, was a little more unforgiving. He pressed his forehead into the Lairon's shouting insults

"Sawk, sawk sawk! Sawk!" he said angrily. 'You remember this, I will teach you to interfere next time. Hear me!' Jake called to his pokemon to simmer him down.

"It's ok bud, we will get him back for it. I promise." Jet just nodded. He and Jake would bide their time for now. They walked with the others and added their knowledge. "That's what we have been trying to figure out. That's why we've been down here so long. We're pretty far underground so either situation is possible. Up ahead is the boiling lake.' he pointed out, as if the steam and the bubbling noises travelling down the corridor's didn't give it away.

"Whew!" Matthew yelled, very loudly drawing attention to the fact that he was hot. He fanned himself with his hands as they drew closer the the boiling pool of water. "Damn, it really is boiling," he said, and Pyrite looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Ok, this looks like a dead end," he added, possibly just because he had to speak. "So what are we going to do?" As soon as the words left his mouth he realised with some annoyance that this was giving the other boy a reason to order him about, so he answered his own question. "Let's see if we can look around and figure out why this place is so hot when the rest of the caves are so cold. We might find some cool pokemon."

"It would be nice to have a look at some of the pokémon down here that aren't completely vicious the moment they spot us.." Alisha smiled, letting Aces pokéball rest back in her bag where it was rather than keeping a nervous grip on it all the time. she still had Angel with her, and she wasn't too badly scuffed up from any fights yet.

"Just wish it weren't so warm..." she mused, looking to Pyrite who she guessed by now might be melting away inside, then Angel who seemed to have decided to sit on her bag in order to get a ride without needing to touch Alishas skin which was by now really quite warm to match the surroundings

Sweat beaded down Jake's forehead soaking his shaggy hair. It coated his skin in a thin film but he siad nothing. He was used to experiencing discomforts such as these, and much worse ones. His blue companion was much the same. "We have come here day after day hoping to find whatever is the source of this heat, but we haven't found anything yet. My guess is whatever it is, is under the surface of that water but it's too hot for me or Jet to swim down and try and find." He said staring blankly at the edge of the boiling pool. His face calm but his eyes a blue storm of thought as they weighed possible options.

Matt looked down at his pokemon. His Lairon was panting, and his poor Snorunt was positively dripping in his little hat. He bent over to lean on his comrade's steel skin, but then yelped and jumped away when he felt the heat that Titan was giving off. "Here, return, Py," he said, sucking the tortured Ice type back into his pokeball.

Dancer was posing as usual, but his tongue was hanging out in a way that was less than attractive, which would have deeply upset him to learn. "I don't think any of my pokemon would be much help," he said with a shrug. "And I sure as hell am not going in. Any ideas?"

Alisha moved over to the waters edge, looking down to the bubbling surface.

"How deep would you say it is..?" Alisha asked slowly. Aqua had fainted, and there was no way in hell she was going near asking Ares for a favour. he was bad tempered enough without bringing him out in an underground boiling lake.

Angel looked between Alisha and the water, seeming to be groaning as she worked out what might be going through the girls head if the water were shallow enough. Maybe even if it weren't, who ever knew what this girl was thinking.

Jake snickered at Matt's comment. "You're right. Your pokemon wouldn't be much help.' Him and Jet shared a quiet laugh. But he stopped when he realised his pokemon wasn't a big help either. He walked to the edge of the bubbling lake, quiet. He picked up a rock and tossed it into the water with a Kerplunk!

"It's hard to say, if that seahorse was still awake he could probably find the bottom.' Well this is as far as we go.' He said turning and starting the way they came. That was until the rock came sailing back out of the water and hitting him in the head. He turned with a start at Matt, rubbing his head and angry faced. Jet jumping to his side raising his fists in agression. "What was that for?!" he yelled.
