Jake Stark stopped to look back at the school that had been his home for the past fourteen years. Even in the distance of a full days walk down the mountain, the Iron Spirit Martial Arts Academy looked like a fortress built into the side of the mountain. Memories stirred within him as he remembered all his years of training. Sweating, bleeding, and crying along side his brother and sisters. He would miss the place, but he knew in his heart he would return one day. "Sawk?" The raspy voice of the tall, lean, humanoid pokemon asked. Placing an azure hand on the young man's shoulder as he wiped a tear from his eye. The boy turned to him and smiled with glossy eyes. The academy had given Jake the Sawk as a result of the Provings. A ritual in which students of the academy fought eachother to determine which pokemon would be suiteable for them. The basis of the choosing was the participanta fighting styles. It mattered little who won. In fact their was no winner. At first Jake had his eyes on the psychic and fighting type, Meditite. He had been disheeartened when he received Sawk. But this all changed soon after he began training with his new pokemon. The Sawk trained hard as Jake did, and even when they sparred together it was if he was sparring himself. In no time they were thick as thieves and strong enough and ready to set out on their own. Jake patted his partner's hand "I'm fine buddy, its just hard leaving. Grandmaster Lang said it wouldn't be easy. But when is anything worth doing easy?" Jake asked the blue figure next to him, as he recalled his mentor's warning on the day he came to him to ask his permission to leave the academy and go on his journey. Three pokeballs, two berries, and a few words of wisdom were all he was given. That and years of rigourous training. "Sawk" the pokemon stated, nodding his blue head in approaval. He then turned his gaze towards the school sharing the sight with his trainer. The sun setting behind the mountain bathed the landscape in rich golden reds and oranges. Jake sighed and turned to face his pokemon, dropping his backpack to the ground and peeling off his shirt. "Ready?" He asked as he tied his faded, battleworn and tattered black belt tight around his waist. "Sawk." His pokemon replied facing him and smoothing out the wrinkles of his white Gi. The two bowed to eachother and stepped back into their fighting stances, locking eyes. They stood for what seemed like forever before charging in towards eachother. Shouts and sharp breaths dominated the quiet mountainside, along with harsh thwaps and knocks from blows and bones slamming into one another as the two struck and parried eachother in an elegant and deadly dance. The two roamed around their battlefield each trying to gain the upperhand. Jake backed his pokemon into a tree and slammed his fist into its trunk as his Sawk gracefully flipped over him, dodging the blow and landing behind his trainer and facing the human. Sawk gave his trainer a minute to recover, but not too long, before he closed the distance. Using close combat to launch a flurry of blows. Jake struggled to keep up, he blocked and parried many strikes but Sawk's persistence paid off and he began landing hits. Jake backed away letting his overzealous Sawk chase him, flinging a kick out and catching his companion in the head while his fists were busy. The Sawk staggered back letting out a startled cry as Jake hopped up on a stone slab, smiling coyly as he wiped a trickle of red blood from his mouth. "Sawk!" His pokemon cried as it rush forward, filling the mountain forest with another chorus of fists, kicks, shouts, and the sound of training. |

Most people if it's a pokémon they got in the past add it in as part of their history, but don't worry about it, at least it has been written ;3 Carry on~ |
