The moon cast an eerie silver glow over Jake Stark and his blue hominid pokemon Sawk as they stood at the vast cavern entrance. The cool mountain wind whistled as it passed by the jagged maw of the cave, making Jake pull the zipper of his black and red trainer style jacket up under his chin. Somewhere deep within a menacing roar could be heard. Jake gulped, he had never honestly been afraid untill this moment. He turned his head to look at his Sawk. if the pokemon was afraid his stern face didn't show it.

Jet stood still as stone his eyes looking into the blue black abyss that was the cave. His mind was full of questions just as his trainers was. What would they encounter down there? What if he couldn't handle it? But his stone hard exterior betrayed not of his emotions. He became aware of Jake's gaze and turned his own head to meet it. His hard face going soft for a second. 'Sawk.' He said reassuringly and patted his trainer on the shoulder with a bulky blue hand.

Jake smiled at his pokemon's affection. 'Thanks Jet. I've heard rumors about this place, I don't think there'd be a better llocation to train for miles in any direction.' His statement was true. Since the day Jake and his Sawk left the academy they had almost been training non stop. But a recent battle with an arrogant tween named matt had left him with the bitter taste of defeat, and the even more bitter taste of reality. He needed to train more.

Jake clenched his fists at the thought of the boy trainer. Him and his friend, Alisha, a sweet girl with a big secret, had stumbled upon a cave where he and Jet had been training. Jet helped reunite the pair and in return they botched Jake's attempt to add a rare onix comprised of fire stones to his team. Jake convinced himself he hated the boy for that reason but soon realised it was the fact that the boy mercilessly wrecked Jake in a one on one battle that made him angry. That Jake had overestimated himself and his pokemon. He made an ass of himself, and that hurt worst of all. 'I have to train harder, then I'll take you down.' He said to no one in particular, jet raised a solid black eyebrow to him but said nothing. In truth he didn't hate matt, Jake is just a poor loser...and an even poorer winner.

So in order to make him and his Sawk stronger, Jake ventured to the ancient caverns. An old place where it is rumored that powerful dragon pokemon lurk. If there was a place that would make it so he could win his honor back, it was here. 'Well Jet...here we go' jake said, Jet let out a cry of affirmation and the two begain to decend the craggy entrance into the cave system leaving fear and doubt at the rocky mouth.

Jet needed no orders to dodge this time. He twisted his torso out of the way of the oncoming bone club and began to leap out of the way of his foe's attack. But Jet expected a headbutt, not a double kick and he jumped straigt into the marowak's foot. The blow caught him in the stomach cause him to double over and his eyes to bulge wide open before the second foot caught him in the face popping him back up and causing him to stumble back...straight into the bonemerange.

Jake winced as the club smacked into the back of his pokemon's head knocking him to the ground. He watched in anticipation as he got up slowly, eyeing the marowak and dusting off his gi. He then popped his neck and sat back down into his figting stance with a 'Sawk!' Jake grinned, his tactic to bulk up and raise his sawk's defense seemed to have paid off, now to see if it worked with its attack. 'That things quick, use low sweep and make it a bit slower then show it that double kick that we've worked on! Show it that we can do that technique too!' Jake called out.

'Sawk!' The pokemon cried again and leapt up into the air and off an adjacent rock, kciking at the marowaks knees trying to knock it down before lashing out a rapid snap of consecutive kicks. One a roundhouse then snapping his foot back into a hook kick.

There was a huff of satisfaction as its opponent was hit by both attacks only for it to realize that the Sawk was still standing and ready to battle. Well, at least the opponent was a little hurt. Catching the bone easily, the Marowak waited to see what Jet would do next and scowled as it heard Jake's orders.

No way was this Bone Keeper going to let that blue thing defeat it! With this in mind, the Pokemon merely jumped up and prepared to slam its bone down onto the Sawk with a Bone Club only to realize, a bit late, that Jet had also been ordered to do a Double Kick.

Because of this, both kicks met their marks before the Marowak flew back. It flipped in midair, however, and landed on its feet a little hard. Clearly this little guy had a pretty good defense. There was a low growl of irritation, not the attack but a literal growl, before it rushed forward in another attempt to smack Jet using Bone Club.

Jake grinned, this was proving to be a very good fight. One he would thouroughly enjoy and he knew his Sawk would too. 'Block that Jet! Then use a brick break!' The Sawk stood his ground and thrust his arm upward in an attempt to block the bone club. He succeeded but the effort gave quite a jarring to his arm. Jet gritted his teeth togehter and swung a knife hand at the marowak as it was landing from his atttack hoping to catch the pokemon in its exposed ribs.

The Marowak was peeved when its attack was stopped seemingly so easily, it didn't realize it had actually caused a bit of pain, and moved to return to the ground. The Pokemon was going to land then spring back up to use a Headbutt- the keyword being was.

As it dropped to the ground, it realized that it was more or less defenseless because it was so close and actually took the Brick Break. There was a cry as it was hit and it stumbled backwards, actually rolling over once and landing on its stomach. This only made the pain from the attack hurt even more considering that had been critical.

Still, it refused to give up. Eyes squinting in a pained glare, the Pokemon returned to its feet and smacked its bone against the ground angrily. Clearly it was still full of life despite the hit. The Rage it had started sometime ago seemed to grow which upped its attack power and it rushed forward. This was a Bone Rush.

Look out Jet!' Jake cried. Jet backed up as the marowak pressed forward swinging its bone club. He swayed and dipped and ducked his attacks but he coulfnt keep it up forever. Jet went to block one of the hits and the blow landed in the exacr same spot as it had last time causing him to recoil in pain forgetting the onslaught for a second. That's when the marowak clubbed him several times sending him head over foot rolling across the floor.

'Jet!' Jake cred and he ran over to his pokemon. He helped his sawk up to its feet he was squinting in pain when jake asked him if he could go on. Jet gave a solemn nod although the pokemon wasn't sure how much longer he could last. Jake smiled reassuringly 'dodge him, then use bulk up one last time. Then bide and after you can't take it anymore....unleash the hit on him. We can do this Jet' he said patting his pokemon. 'Now get out there!' He cried slapping his pokemon on the rear. Jet cried and hopped back into the playing field.

At this point, the Marowak was getting quite cocky despite its breathing being a bit rugged. The Pokemon, seeing Jet fall and his trainer go to him, incorrectly decided that the battle was over and made to walk away before noticing Jet back on his feet. Thinking that the Sawk was about to attack, the Bone Keeper stumbled backwards as if to dodge an attack. All that happened was Jet using Bulk Up, then starting up Bide.

Marowak was confused at this lack of attacking until it realized that the tensing of Jet's muscles might have been a preparation for some kind of attack. Convinced that the attack was going to be an overwhelmingly strong one, the Pokemon decided to defeat Jet before the Sawk could unleash this weird attack.

This in mind, the Marowak charged forward to use a Headbutt and follow up with Bone Club. If Jet was to activate Bide after these attacks, it may defeat the Bone Keeper.

The skulled dome of the marowak crashed into Jets chest, causing him only to grunt in pain and back up a step. The ensuing bone club caught him in the head causing him almsot to drop right then but he perserveared.

'Now jet!' Jake cried seeing how close the marowak was and how tired it had become over the. Fight. It threw a lot into those last two attacks, which would mean that the bide would be mega strong, but also that Jet was taking a wolloping. And he wasn't sure how long his companion would last against this beast.

Jet. planted his feet and pushed off the ground up into the air his fist clenched hoping to catch the marowak under the chin as he came up. His feet left the ground andhe added a spiral to his ascent screaming 'SAAAAAAAWWWKKK!' But what the marowak (and the spying dratini) heard was 'SHORYUKEN!'

The Marowak realized a bit late that it had made a mistake in continuing the fight. Maybe the fact that it was tired would have been as great of a hint as any to back off, but nope. Instead, it had to take the full brunt of the Bide attack before it hit it that running away would have been the better move.

Oh well, at least it put up a good fight. With that thought in mind, the Pokemon flew into the lake and fell in with a splash. There was a moment of silence before the Marowak resurfaced. At first it would look like the Pokemon had swam up, but then a blue head with a white nose slid from under the water with the Bone Keeper balanced on its head.

The Dratini peered curiously at Jake and Jet before swimming to the waterfall and disappearing behind it with the unconscious Marowak still on its head. Soon enough the Dragon returned, sliding back into the water, then swimming over to the trainer. It tilted its head to one side as its eyes shone with curiosity and admiration at Sawk.

Jake watched as his Sawk and tthe Dratini locked gazes. Jet moved his body one way and the Dratini folowed mirroring his movements. Jake was too awestruck to move or say anything. Jet slowly reached out and touched the dragon its nose. It recoiled, and Jet retracted his hand quickly but after a second both of them laughed, jet so hard that he fell onto his butt. Jake couldn't help but laugh either at their interaction.

The Dratini cooed out its name as it listened to Jake and Jet laugh before striking a conversation with Jet. It revealed its interest in the Sawk's strength, admiring how it handled both the Nosepass and the Marowak. The Pokemon then expressed its desire to become strong itself, admitting that it doesn't often see a blue Pokemon stride about without much to worry about.

Eventually it came down to the chase, announcing that it would like to join Jet and Jake, though only after a battle of course. Whenever the pair were ready, the Pokemon would be as well.

Jake watche dumbfounded as the two conversed. Jet was a little confused at first, wanting to know what him being blue had anything to do with him strutting around with nothing to worry about. He also told the dratini that he had become strong through rigorous training with Jake, who he tilted his head at as he spoke, and that the training was long and arduous but worth it. That the trainer was at times a little hot headed and arrogant but he was a good person and worthy of fighting for. He asked the dratini to think on his words and they would battle tomorrow when he was rested and until that time he was welcome to join the two.

Jake scratches his head...drool falling from his mouth. Eventually he gave up trying to figure out what the two were talking about and sat down and dug out some rice balls from his bag. They were a bjt stale but they were all he had. He tossed one to Jet and was about to bite into the second one when he frowned and looked at the dratini. He sighed and handed it the white ball figuring he would eat at a lager time.

The Dratini tilted its head as it listened intently to Jet's words. It admitted that the bit about blue Pokemon was a personal preference, not to be taken as anything meaningful, and that it could tell training was a key factor to the Sawk's strength. But the Pokemon turned away, seeing as how Jet wanted to wait for the follow day, and returned to the water where it disappeared; the rice ball having been left at the edge of the pool of water.

Jake shrugged. And walked over to pick up the rice ball. 'Well...what's the deal?' Jake asked his pokemon. The only reply as was somber stare out into the lake. Once again jake shrugged 'well, let's get out of here Jet' he said but as he started walking away the Sawk protested. It pitched a fit slamming his fist into rocks, shattering them and throwing larger ones across the cavern until Jake agreed that they would make camp here. Neither kept watch this night, something about the cavern made them both feel safe although the marowak was still behind the waterfall they doubted he would give them trouble anymore.

The Dratini swam around in the lake, lulling itself to sleep slowly. It would battle tomorrow, when the Sawk was more rested, and then it would compare its power. If it lost, then it would allow itself to be captured, but if it won, then it would return to the lake. The point, after all, was to find someone strong and grow stronger with the help of that person.

Jake awoke the next day to an eager and stretching sawk. Jet obviously was getting ready for a battle, then it became clear what the two pokemon were talking about yyesterday and why Jet wouldn't leave. 'Is it that dratini? You want to fight him huh?' He asked.

'Sawk' jet replied quickly, bouncing his weight on one foot then the other touching his leg to the floor tretching it out. Jake could see the determination on his face.

The Dratini finally appeared popping its head out from under the water and then sliding out onto the hard ground as water cascaded off its scales. The Pokemon tilted its head curiously before blinking in greeting. There was a low cry of 'Dratini' as announcement that the Pokemon was ready, and it waited for the Sawk to make its move.

Jet lowered himself into his fighting stance to let jake know it was time. Jake nodded to his pokemon 'bulk up jet! Then karate chop him!' He called. Jet 'sawkes' a reply and tensed his muscles making himself stronger and tougher before dashing towards the snakelike pokemon to knife hand him in the back.

The Dratini watched patiently as its opponent prepared to attack. Tilting its head sightly to one side, it waited for the Sawk to approach before the gem on its forehead flashed and a bolt of blue electricity shot out. This electricity, if it met Jet, would wrap around the Sawk like a rope and paralyze it because the attack was a Thunder Wave.

Whether this made its mark or not, the Dratini would soon follow it up by using a Water Pulse to keep Jet away. If neither of these worked to keep the Dratini safe, then the Pokemon would be wide open for an attack.
