Almighty Master of You All
|
Iz wandered along down one of the slightly longer paths between a pair of towns. For a moment she looked up towards Fledge as he soared through the skies, smiling faintly as she saw him. “Fledge, how would you feel about learning some new moves?” she asked casually, Fledge seeming a little confused for a moment before realising what she was saying. He chirped happily, looking glad to be in the centre of attention. “That fight against the Feraligatr started to make me realise. You don’t really have as many moves nor nearly the variety. Even with the Steel Wing you can do, there aren’t a lot of moves. Flying type, Steel and Normal. The moment there’s a little bit of resistance to any of that, you can’t do a lot. I know it’s not nice, but that’s why we’re learning more moves, yeah?” Fledge chirped happily, landing on her head to relax for a moment from the flight. Iz chuckled, attempting not to move her head for his sake. “Okay, you just tell me which of these kinds of moves you want to try out. Maybe Bug? I know you ought to be able to learn U-Turn..” she asked, attempting to look up, only to get a sort of denial shrug. He’d never been that keen on bugs, so using bug moves didn’t thrill him either. “Maybe not then. How about some Electricity? Would that be good?” she asked, before getting an excited tap on her back by the metal tip of her tail. The talons on the top of her head started to grip slightly tighter too, the eagerness to start flooding through him. “If you’re gonna grip too tight, I’m gonna have to make you get off my head, Fledge.” She mused, feeling him soon letting go of the tight grip. “Electricity will be a hard one. I’m not really that sure if it’s even possible, but I’m sure we’ll give it a good go, yeah? Just work out what other kinds of moves you want.” She said, the two carrying on. Iz moved through all the sets of types, trying to work out something that would suit her pokémon overall. Fledge was very happy to learn so many different types of moves that it took her a while to try and cut down the list to things that the bird might possibly be able to do. “Okay, for Fighting type, I might be able to imagine a Vacuum Wave? Would take a lot of out of the box thinking, but we ought to be able to pull it off. Electric and Ice might be possible too, just for those, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d want some of the others involved in learning it too. Nothing against you nor thinking that you can’t handle it, just if others are able to learn things then why not give them a chance while it’s being taught, yeah?” she smiled, Fledge seeming quickly very happy. “We’ll start off on Vacuum Wave. You know what a vacuum is, right?” she asked, though the lack of response didn’t fill her with hope. “It’s an area with no air in it at all. I know you’re used to being able to push air around and make it thicker to attack with, so let’s see if you can make it thinner too. Just thinner for now. I’m not going to expect a full vacuum from you for a long while” she mused, reaching up to pat the bird on the wing to help sooth him. Fledge just looked confused. Yes, he was able to make the air move around. He was a bird, he was meant to, but that didn’t mean that this sounded even remotely possible for anyone to do. He hopped off of her head, on to the ground nearby. Iz stopped her casual stroll through the area, assuming that this was there Fledge had chosen to train. “Try using just a normal Air Slash.” She offered, Fledge not looking too happy but performing the move as best he could. Even that wasn’t something he’d managed to perfect yet. She patted him on the head, trying to help to comfort him. “See, you can see the air gathering together and forming a kind of wave outwards.” She said, looking out to where Fledge had attacked. He blinked. It was clear he didn’t see whatever Iz was right now. Again he performed an Air Slash, watching as the air clumped to form the so called slashes which cut into the ground, even if not by much. He seemed to be able to look at that by now, though not at all understanding how it might help. “Now, do the movements for an Air Slash, just as slowly as you can. Really think about what you’re doing.” Fledge whined as much as a bird could. None of this was making any kind of sense at all. First he was meant to do a Vacuum Wave, now he was slowing down his least practiced move so much it wouldn’t even be an attack anymore and none of it seemed to fit together. The only reason he was even doing it was a less than usual amount of trust that he had in her. He move was made again, this time at a fraction of the speed of the move, though there being one part which he couldn’t slow down too much, just due to the awkwardness of the positioning it put his wings into. “There we go, that bit.” Iz said the moment he tried to skip over the less than comfortable section. Fledge looked at her like she were mad. “See if you can do that part backwards. Exactly backwards. Instead of a load of air pressured in front of your wings, it’s a load of air missing.” Fledge couldn’t help but stare at her, his wings falling to his side in desperation before Iz pulled them back out again. “Come on, you’re not going to learn a new move by staying comfortable and doing only what you know already.” She sighed, attempting to do something similar to what she’d seen him doing earlier, but it ending up causing him pain, withdrawing his wings for a moment before trying again himself. “Thank you.” She grinned, seeing him attempting to perform that small movement backwards. It was very clearly not comfortable for him, so she did her best to sooth him. It ended up being about 15 minutes before Fledge started to feel that tiny bit more comfortable with it, enough to attempt to try and make it more of a move instead of a muscular movement. “Remember the movement. Concentrate on it. Don’t let yourself switch back to what is normal.” Iz encouraged, watching the birds face screw up with concentration as he tried to accomplish something that in his mind really probably shouldn’t be possible. Fledge ended up giving up and leaning against Izs leg before the move were able to be finished in any way. Iz smiled to him nonetheless, stroking his head feathers softly. “You’ve been doing very well today.” She cooed, letting the bird rest at her side for now. “Try again in an hour or so? For now I think lunch.” She said calmly, seeming to make Fledges eyes open in glee. The rest of her team was soon released around her, everyone spreading out to work out what it was exactly that they wanted. The only ones who didn’t move were Fledge and Iz. Everyone soon settled down again with their berries or in a small case in the corner a freshly caught and killed Meowth that was being gnawed on by the more carnivorous side of her team. It wasn’t something that could be helped, so she managed to ignore it well enough. She was very happy with the Pecha Berries provided by a knowing Mismagius nearby. “Guys, I was thinking about teaching some moves to some of you.” She announced quite suddenly, the recovering fledge the only one not surprised by the outburst. “I started teaching Fledge here a new move already that if you’re really lucky he might even pluck up the courage to show you, but that’ll be something you have to ask him.” She mused, them all looking at him as though suddenly working it all out. Discussions soon started amongst the pokémon about what kind of move Fledge might have been taught and what they could be taught in the near future as Fledge gave Iz a death look. He barely felt ready to call what he had a move that would hurt a blade of grass, and yet suddenly he was expected to perform it under pressure with all these guys watching? This was all going to end badly. It wasn’t long before the other pokémon had bedded and pleaded enough with Fledge for him to attempt to give it his first shot at some kind of normal speed, now that he had been given the chance to rest his wings and peck at a few berries for lunch. Fledge took to the skies, hovering nearby and very quickly failing not to let the concentration seep onto his face. It took a long while of preparation in Fledges mind and silent anticipation in the 6 sat below before Fledge managed to produce... something. One would be very optimistic in calling it an attack, but it managed to make Iz very happy, even if the rest just looked confused. “It’s a Vacuum Wave. It’s not a natural move for a Swellow to learn, so he needs lots of time and practice. It was his first time in ever attempting it properly, so don’t make fun of him for it.” Iz said, looking directly at Mystery when she spoke the last part. Mystery quickly acted like she was hurt by the accusation, but everyone knew the truth, which made it a nice friendly thing instead. “And the moves I want to teach him next are Ice Beam and Thunderbolt.” She announced, some ears quickly prickling to attention on the sound of the names of the moves. “Anyone who wants to try and learn the moves with him are more than welcome, just as long as you realise that he is the main reason the moves are being learned. So be nice to him. None of these moves are natural, just the ones that are just didn’t want to be learned.” She said, helping to smooth down some of his feathers as he landed back on the ground once more so the group could continue eating. Iz smiled as her pokémon seemed to sink into the idea that these moves were able to be taught now. Kira quickly seemed to be jumping at the idea of an Ice Beam. She didn’t really have access to that many ice moves, so the chance to learn quite a powerful one could be nothing but useful. Mystery and Alchemy seemed quite set on the Thunderbolt thing too. No, neither of them were electric types, but neither was Fledge, and it wasn’t stopping him! They even seemed to both be starting to work out how best to try and produce some electricity without any help so they could be ahead before Alchemy remembered how many moves Fledge was apparently meant to be learning. He’d need all the help he could get and having them two already most of the way to learning it wouldn’t help him in the slightest. After lunch was completely finished, most of Izs pokémon were sent back to their balls, Fledge left out for the sake of continuing his training. It wasn’t long before Fledge were trying again, trying to aim at nearby flowers and plants to try and get up the strength inside him to complete the Vacuum attack as strong and well as he could. The fact that according to Iz he wasn’t producing a real vacuum yet, and the only time he ever made any sort if impact on his surroundings was when he regressed to Air Slash meant nothing. Iz managed to still be proud of her little bird, watching as he tried so hard to accomplish the move. The more he tried it the more tired out he got though, meaning it became less and less likely that he was going to get out anything that would be called a technical ‘attack’ at any time soon. She was just glad he was carrying on at a similar kind of standard, hoping that meant he’d be able to start off much better once he were strong enough again next time. Iz stopped off at the nearest pokécentre quickly enough after Fledge was really showing signs of exhaustion, making sure her pokémon got a good rest. It was going to be a tough day tomorrow. Iz didn’t exactly look too happy with how she’d been woken. A herd of Tauros had decided to stampede right next to the remote mid route pokécentre and she was never a person who enjoyed getting up earlier than she was meant to. Slowly she made her way downstairs, scoffing down the small provided breakfast in no time and collecting her pokémon with a thankful smile from Nurse Joy. As she left Kira were released with Fledge, each of them quickly realising what was about to happen. It was Ice Beam time. Fledge groaned a little, not seeming all too comfortable with learning another new move so close after Vacuum Wave, especially since he hadn’t actually gotten to the point of ever being able to use it yet, but Iz seemed to have confidence in him which helped quite a bit. “Okay, you both know what you’re here for. First of all, Kira, I want you to try to teach Fledge how to produce some coldness. I know it’s going to be hard for you, but it’ll be easier for you than for me.” She mused, Kira staring with insanity. This was the plan? No TMs to help them, no masters of the move, just the two being told assumptions by their trainer. She was lucky they knew she had a lot of random knowledge which might be able to help. “Fledge, try to concentrate around your beak area. I know ice isn’t too good for you, so having it close isn’t going to be your favourite thing. Just your beak is your strongest area, and ought to be the least affected by the cold” she said, helping to prove to them why she was so well trusted. The two pokémon talked for a while, Kira occasionally producing an Ice Shard to try and help him to visualise the move that bit better. He carried on attempting to use the move, but pretty much nothing was happening before Iz got an idea. She moved across, carefully taking the ice from Kira and placing it in a very surprised Fledge’s beak. “Start a little bit slower. See if you can stop this bit of ice from melting by concentrating on keeping it cold.” She said, soon letting the logic sink into the two. Fledge nodded, attempting to keep the ice cold in his beak no matter how annoying it was having it there. If he didn’t learn how to cope with the discomfort of having ice near him, how was he going to cope with producing a whole attack? Fledge attempted it for a short while, but the ice ended up melting away quite quickly, making him pout as he drank down the liquid from the ice. Kira quickly produced another one and shoved it into his beak, making him squirm, glaring at her. He’d wanted a break! Oh well. Wouldn’t hurt to just try for one more shard. Fledges eyes shut, him trying to concentrate as much as possible on the ice in his beak. He kept his beak wide open even as the ice very slowly started to shrink, testing to see if the fact he was clamping onto it was melting it any faster. After about five minutes, Iz smiled, glancing to Kira. “It’s definitely bigger than this point last try, wouldn’t you say?” she asked the other pokémon, Kira quickly looking caught out. Was she meant to be watching with intense interest? All it was to her was slowly melting ice in a birds beak. Either way, Fledge was quite happy to get some sort of confirmation of progress. He’d been starting to wonder if it had been doing anything at all. Now there was that small increase in what he was doing he really did want to keep going and produce the ice. It carried on melting in his mouth, no matter how hard he tried to keep it, until one small amount was left. The thing is it wasn’t a small bit which sat on his tongue waiting to slip down the birds throat, it was hovering at a reasonable size in his beak. That seemed to be where the centre of the birds concentration had been, keeping the ice ball there rather than just sitting in his beak. “Very well done.” Iz grinned as she saw the development of the ice having been controlled enough that it were hovering. “Now, see if you can keep just that there. If you feel it melting, try to make it colder again and freeze it back up.” She encouraged, watching him. Another five minutes soon passed, Fledge managing to keep the small ice ball in situ for most of that time before he just gave up. His jaw wasn’t built for staying wide open all the time like that. Either way, Iz managed to be very proud, even if Kira had managed to get bored and start attacking flowers with her shards. Berries were soon produced once more from the nearby trees, Fledge looking happy to get something down his gullet that wasn’t melt water. He lay down on his back, relaxing in the warmth of the sun for a moment to try and rid himself of the awkward feeling from the ice for a small moment. “Right, think we can try the Beam part of it now?” Iz asked after they’d all sat around for a short while. Kira quickly jumped up, glad to be given the chance. Fledge took a little more convincing, but he was soon up and ready. “Okay, Fledge. I want to see if you can produce some ice now. You’ve managed to make ice stop melting, which means you can produce it too. There’s water in the air all the time, so don’t worry about having nothing to freeze. It’ll come to you.” She said, before turning to the already bored looking Kira. “You’re going to need to learn to make the beam. It’s not quite as easy as it sounds, but we’ll see. The beam ought to be something half way in between an Icy Wind and an Ice Shard in consistency. It’s a much thicker wind, and the ice in it is more energy than being actually real, if that makes any sense.” She said, Kiras face clearly telling her that it didn’t. “Just give it a go. Come on. If you don’t try you never learn.” She mmused, looking back to Fledge. Fledge had actually managed to create a very small amount of ice in his beak. It wasn’t nearly enough to create an attack from, but it meant they were definitely getting somewhere. “Okay, both of you. Pick an area. Find a plant or something to aim at, just make sure it’s not a pokémon in disguise. If you have something to aim at, you should be easier able to imagine the beam hitting it. See the beam. Make it happen.” She encouraged to the two of her pokémon. Kira looked like she barely took any time at all to make the Ice Beam. Thing is when you looked closer, all it was were a condensed Icy Wind. It looked pretty close, but it wasn’t really there. Fledge meanwhile was still just making the small ice spheres in his beak. Any time he actually made anything that could be close to a small beam in petered out only a few centimetres from his beak, not having nearly the strength to go any further. “Hey, what are you doing?” came an innocent sounding voice from nearby, Iz blinking and turning to see a very small girl looking up at her. The father had walked past, not seeming to notice that his little girl had stopped walking with him. “I’m trying to teach my pokémon some new moves.” Iz explained simply, not wanting to take up too much of the girls time, before the dad turned up, seeming exasperated. The girl only looked to be about 8, yet she was already driving her dad mad. “Come on Robin, you can’t keep stopping at every single person who is doing something with any kind of pokémon and interrupt them.” Dad groaned, taking the girls wrist before Robin quickly yanked it back. “But this one is actually training new moves and stuff! Can’t we just watch for a little while, pleeeeeeeease?” she asked, giving her father the best puppy dog eyes that she could. “You know how much I always wanted pokémon, why can’t I just watch?” she begged, her father seeming to cave. “It’s no hassle to me, if that’s what you’re worried about, sir.” Iz mused, knowing that at the age most kids wanted anything to do with pokémon that they could. “If you want.” Dad groaned, ending up setting up a small watching camp on a nearby bench as Robin moving to watch. Fledge looked very confused to see the small girl, flying over next to her with a lot of curiosity towards the pint sized person before Iz shooed him away. “Come on, back to training you. She just wants to watch.” Iz chuckled, batting him away. Fledge seemed to pout for a moment before he started attempting to make another Ice Beam out on a nearby flower. “I wanna be a real good trainer when I grow up. Gonna have loads of really cool battles and gonna win them all!” Robin grinned to Iz who smiled down to her. “You even been in a battle before?” she asked, seeming only really half interested, her main focus on the training in front of her. She called out to Kira, seeing her getting it almost right, and the flower she’d aimed at now coated in a fine layer of ice which quickly melted away. “No. Daddy says pokémon would just all mess up the house, so we’re not allowed them. Gonna get my first one in a few years though! It’s gonna be so awesome!” she grinned, watching as Kira made the move again, this time the chosen shrub ending up completely coated in quite a thick layer of ice, making Kira cheer loudly and Fledge pout. He’d still not gotten his ice a metre away from him. “Be reasonable, Fledge. She is an ice type. Of course it’ll be easier for her than you.” She called to him. He still pouted at her for a moment, soon trying again, before a small idea popped into her head. “How would you like to try a battle now? I mean, if your dad wouldn’t mind. Sure my pokémon wouldn’t mind. They still need to train after all.” Iz mused, Robins eyes lighting up in wonder, quickly looking over to the despairing dad who shook his head to himself, shooing her off. If Robin was Iz’s problem for a short while it would give him a break at least. “Okay, I’m gonna let you borrow Kira for a bit, okay? She’s my Sneasel.” Iz said calmly, beckoning her over. Kira looked very confused at what was going to happen for about a split second before she was tackle-hugged by Robin and had most of the life squished out of her. She started to try and pry the young girl off of her, but it didn’t go all to plan. “Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you!” she sang, picking Kira up with all her strength and spinning for a moment before putting her back down as Iz moved across, flashing Kira an apologetic look for a moment before back to Robin. “Okay, Kira has been trying to learn Ice Beam recently, so see if you can use that as much as possible. Other attacks are Feint Attack, Fury Swipes, Screech, stuff like that. I’m sure you’ll pick it up. Kira, listen to Robin. She’s just learning. Sure you can cope.” Iz explained, the two quickly splitting in order to give the battle enough room to happen. Fledge didn’t look at all happy with what was going on, but he couldn’t help but find it really quite amusing with the punishment Kira was suffering before the match had even begun. “It’s just one match. Come on. And you still remember Vacuum Wave, right?” she asked, Fledge groaning. Great, two new moves against someone who had already perfected everything. This was going to go well. The only benefit he had was Iz. Yes it was the benefit he would choose, but it didn’t make him as happy as it could. “See if you can try a Vacuum Wave to start things off.” Iz smiled to Fledge, watching him take off. The fighting type move wasn’t good. The wave produced was still not really a vacuum, though at least at this point it was enough that from his height it did reach the ground. He’d gotten it that far at least. Kira didn’t take too well to the fighting move. While it wasn’t in the slightest powerful as a move, as a fighting type move it was still enough to cause her some irritation. She was about to jump up and attack back when she remembered both that she was meant to be practicing the long range move, and that she was meant to be listening to the pipsqueak behind her, not her own thoughts. “Kira, Ice Beam!” Robin said in the most dramatised way possible, pointing up towards Fledge with a maniacal grin on her face as she called an attack for the first time. It was all Kira could do not to facepalm, her eyes twitching as the happy go lucky voice that was calling the moves before she looked up to where Fledge was in the sky. Before long the Ice Beam was created, firing up towards Fledge, though his natural speed mixing with the lack of practice in accuracy making it a very easy move to avoid, thankfully for him. “Use the cold she’s made. Ice Beam her back. You can do it.” Iz called up in a much more relaxed way. Fledge opened his beak, forming the small ice sphere within with a little more ease thanks to the cold surrounding her due to Kiras Ice Beam. He fired down the best Ice Bean he could, but it still ended up petering out before it even got half the distance. “Okay Kira! Now, let’s go for a Feint Attack!” Robin cheered, spinning around this time as she pointed once again dramatically towards Fledge. Kira whimpered, hating the little girl more and move with each passing moment. Still, she did as she was asked, fading from view before Robins eyes which made her get really over excited before appearing on Fledges back, hitting him down, back to the ground. She quickly faded back into view once more in front of Robin, the girl squealing in excitement. “Fledge, Vacuum Wave again.” Iz called, making the bird groan. He didn’t like only having two moves to choose from and not being able to properly use either of them. He landed on the ground, going back to the stance in which he had first started to try to use the move. His wings quickly flapped in the less than usual way, creating the wave which shot forwards with quite a bit more vigour than it had done previously. Without a word from the girl behind her being said, Kira jumped up, managing to dodge the wave. She landed on the other side just in time to hear the chirpy little voice calling for a Fury Swipes. Oh come on. She could have used the momentum from the jump to do that! Did this little girl have to wait until she’d landed to call for an attack?! She groaned, taking off running towards Fledge. “Again.” Iz called, though the panic of the situation meaning that Fledge managed to get the move wrong, reverting back to an Air Slash. Kira cut through the air produced as though it were nothing, quickly scratching at the bird as best as possible, making him call out in pain. “Now Ice Beam. She’s close enough you ought to be able to do something.” Iz called, Robin looking completely shocked that the other had called another attack before she’d had the chance to. This was meant to be a turn based thing, wasn’t it? One then other all the way! Why was she allowed another go? “Ice Beam it right back!” she called, turning more to a pout than her usual flamboyance. The two Ice Beam attacks managed to collide quickly in the middle, each of them getting an equally large amount of the icy power flung at them. The only problem was that Fledge was weak against the move, while Kira had a resistance. Fledge whined, hopping away again, trying to preen himself of the iciness for a moment, before Robin decided to quickly call for an Icy Wind which had him rushing back to Iz, giving up before he actually fainted and the training would be forced to stop. Robin cheered loudly at having been able to win a fight, Iz letting her have her fun, neglecting to mention the fact that Kira had been a lot more proficient at learning her move, and Fledge was still training two currently very weak moves. Kira turned around to Robin, seeming to have completely had enough of her. She started to sharpen her claws for a moment, seeming ready to take out the little girl for the sake of her own ears and anything else that might happen to her. She ended up though attempting to sharpen the Razor Claw that though it all she’d forgotten was there before it started to activate, glowing faintly before her whole body followed suit. The Claw faded away, seeming to turn completely nonexistent as Kira grew in height by a little and generally evolved. Iz grinned on seeing her pokémon evolving, Robins eyes wide in amazement, never having seem the phenomena before. “Hello Kira. How do you feel? Taller?” Iz asked calmly as Kira smirked. Where the Razor Claw had vanished to seemed to be in helping sharpen up her own claws as well as helping her gain strength in the other ways. Suddenly taking it out on Robin wasn’t quite the only thing on her mind, managing to distract her for just long enough for Robin to run to her dad with the excitement and declaring her desperation for wanting a Sneasel. “See, there is some method to my madness.” Iz mused, patting Kiras head behind the headdress. Kira stuck her tongue out at Iz for a moment, just looking happy for what had happened before she started to curl up for some rest after the fight. The fight had ended up taking the good part of half an hour in the end, and mixing that in with the training that had been happening all morning, Iz and her team were completely exhausted. It wasn’t every day that the kinds of intensive training that they were going though happened. “Rest of the day is relaxation, then tomorrow Thunderbolt with the other two, deal?” she asked Fledge. He seemed to pause for a moment. It was like he wanted to groan about another move being made to be learned, but at the same time he’d managed to do really quite well today, hadn’t he? Got Vacuum Wave to a point where at least against a dark type it seemed to do at least some damage, plus the Ice Beam which he could always make Kira help to teach him that bit better. Fledge nodded with the closest he could to a smile. Things were going well so far, why would they stop? He might have thought something a little different if he knew what Iz was planning to help teach her team the Thunderbolt... Nurse Joy seemed to be really quite confused at the fact that Iz was back for another night, though didn’t make anything of it. It was just very rare that she got people who stopped off half way and then just hung around in a mostly empty route all day. “Okay guys.” Iz said once they’d all woken the next day, Alchemy Mystery and Fledge all sat around eagerly awaiting the start of their learning of Thunderbolt. It was something the team really did need, since as proofed by the Feraligatr before, they didn’t have a great deal of attacks which worked against water types. Since water was the type with the most members in it, it was most certainly something that they would want to deal against. Plus, good for zapping down birds too. “I have an idea on how we teach you guys, but it’s going to involve us moving on a little...” she said very cryptic about it all. Her pokémon seemed a little confused for a moment as Iz called over a nearby Dragonite, very quietly telling it where she was wanting to go. The dragon soon took off the balloon which was designed to follow it, let Iz ride on its back. This had the group suddenly gotten a little more wary, knowing that if Iz wasn’t going to be allowed in the balloon that they’d be going somewhere not too nice. They all took off, Fledge carrying Alchemy on his back as Mystery floated along with them. “Okay, in order to use Thunderbolt it helps if you know a little bit about electricity. In its natural form, we know it as lightning.” She said simply, suddenly everyone seeming to know exactly where this was going. “You’re not going to find out about it just by talking to a Magnemite we happen across. If you want to know how to make electricity, you have to get involved, and feel how nature does it first.” Dragonite soon managed to find a suitable thunderstorm, heading directly for it rather than around like it would normally be made to do for the safety of the passengers. Oh well, her choice. “Feel the static in the air. Feel what happens in the air the moment before lightning strikes.” Iz called, starting to need to call out quite loudly in order to be heard over the storm. “Fledge, use the same point in your beak as you did for the ice. Mystery and Alchemy, work it out yourselves.” She called, staying low into the Dragonites back, trying to make sure that she didn’t end up a target for the rolling electricity that passed through the area. Mystery soon seemed to have her own idea on what was going on, feeling the static flowing completely through her, the changes of charges and what was going on. A small spark started before the three gems on her chest, her grinning as they did so, knowing she was no her way. Alchemy stared around, watching as a flash of lightning shot up above her. She seemed to get some kind of idea too, but it not transferring into anything yet. She was riding on a flying types back, and he didn’t seem nearly so confident as she at this point, so she wasn’t about to risk anything. Fledge meanwhile was having trouble. He could feel the electric crackle in the air he flew through, but it made him more nervous than wanting to try out a small copy of it. There was something quite exciting about being here though. Iz smiled as she saw the pokémon around her starting to get at least some of the hang of what she was after bringing them up here. “Let’s get back I think. Thanks Dragonite.” She said, clinging on tightly as the dragon soon swooped down to the ground. It did seem glad to be free of the balloon, even for a short while, and able to fly around how it wanted rather than restricted by the comfort of those in the balloon behind. Iz smiled as she rode on the pokémon, keeping a tight hold as her own started to follow quickly back into the warmth and brightness of the sunlight back where they’d started from. “Thank you, again, Dragonite.” Iz smiled as she slipped off its back, helping it back into the harness which held the balloon in place, before moving back next to her team. “Right, now. Who wants to try first?” she asked calmly, Mystery soon hovering upwards. She attempted to produce the sparks again, like she had before, though it not quite working as well now they were out of the more highly charged air. She glared downwards, trying to create even a small spark again. After a short while one spark cut across from one of the gems to another, making her really quite happy. At least it was something, right? “Not too bad.” She mused, before looking to Alchemy. Alchemy stared up into empty space for a short moment, remembering very clearly the electricity from before and knowing what needed to be done. Her hands very quickly formed sparks across from one side to the other, before she started to attempt to gather up the electricity in one small ball in front of the where the two sparks met. It didn’t do too badly, but it was still much more that Mystery which made the ghost seem really quite jealous. “Okay, well done.” She grinned, looking to Fledge with the most optimism and hope in her eyes. It wasn’t something he ought to be able to learn, so of course she was hoping for him. Fledge seemed a little uncomfortable with the success of the other two, but he shut his eyes, trying to concentrate. If the past couple of days had told him anything, it was that anything was possible. His beak opened, Fledge trying to create that small spark in the same place that he had previously managed to make the ice. It didn’t turn out nearly as well as it could have done, the electricity ending up arcing and hitting the inside of his beak. He squawked in annoyance and pain, making the other two giggle as he opened and shut his beak several times, trying to get some air into his mouth to help soothe the pain. “You two, come on. Play nice.” Iz scalded the two who were laughing at his misfortune, her moving to pay him on the head. “I know it’s not natural for you. Relax. And if you want you can zap these two whenever they get a bit annoying, okay?” she mused quietly, Fledge seeming to cheer up quite quickly. The other two calmed down soon enough, Iz moving to go get a twig from a nearby tree. She stuck it into the ground as a grounding area, so that any electricity that got fired at it would only go straight to the ground. It would be better if it were made out of metal, but beggars can’t be choosers. “I want to see if you can make a good burst of electricity hit that stick.” Iz said calmly, looking at the trio. “You all showed me that you can make a spark. Now you have to make that spark jump onto the stick. The more you practice it, the stronger it will get, the more to can aim it in the air and so on. Just first you have to make it hit in the first place.” All three of them soon charged up the sparks once more. Alchemy was the first to make a spark jump across to the stick, the two areas from her hands joining into one stream to make quite a reasonable spark which shot across once, but didn’t manage to sustain it for all that long. Mystery soon started too, though determined to one up on Alchemy. She created a very similar kind of spark which jumped across to it, though Mysterys spark managing to last for that bit longer, her looking quite proud, the two quickly locking heads again in the small competition. Fledge looked over at them, wondering how they could manage to find competition in all of this. It was a little spark they were making. So what? The move would end up the same no matter who was using it in the end. He started to try to make the spark in his own beak again, though this time not working on building it up at all but firing it directly... at Mystery. The ghost yelped as the small shock hit her, though more in surprise than anything else, turning to glare at Fledge. “Calm down Mystery. He’s just not got the accuracy thing down yet. Special moves aren’t his specialty.” Iz waved off the attack, she and Fledge sharing a look for a brief moment. “Now, let’s keep practicing. Spread out so accuracy isn’t so much of a problem anymore. Make sure you know what you’re aiming at, and bring on the power and duration.” She smiled, watching Mystery and Alchemy soon split, Fledge staying with Iz for the moral support. It wasn’t easy being stuck with this all. “Come on. You managed the other two. Later on we can show off all your new moves to everyone properly instead of suddenly springing it on you like before, okay? They ought to be really impressed with you, I know I am.” She smiled, ruffling up the feathers on his head lightly before stepping back to let him continue on. Iz moved around the group, watching for a good while as she saw progress mounting amongst her pokémon. It made her really smile to see the pokémon doing their best to work towards a common goal, even if Alchemy and Mystery were having some kind of a showdown about it. Hmm.. A showdown. That might not be too bad of an idea. “Okay, Alchemy, Mystery, if you’re going to be fighting the whole time about all this, then I’m going to have to make it official. I’m sorry.” She chuckled, the two turning around confusedly. “You two, get equal distances from me and this stick.” She said, planting another of them into the ground by her feet. “You stay where you are and on my mark, you have to hit the stick. The winner is the one who hits it fastest and hardest.” She announced, the two quickly getting into the idea. Mystery quickly got into place, Alchemy soon hopping across too, Iz stepping back a little, though only enough that she wasn’t in anyones direct line of fire. She watched as the two started to spark up, preparing the little electricity they had in their ability to create before Iz made the call for them both to start. Alchemys made it there first by a fraction of a moment, so little that had Iz not been concentrating, she would no doubt have missed it. “And Alchemy got it-“ she started before Mystery jumped in, not looking happy about having been beaten by the tiny little psychic type. The two quickly started fighting, Shadow Balls and Psywaves colliding in mid air on multiple occasions before Alchemy started using Feint Attack on the ghost, Mystery doing everything she could to keep the little pokémon away from her. All the dodging in the world though wasn’t stopping Feint Attacks from Alchemy until she stood triumphant over the exhausted ghost. She ended up proud and glad enough that she soon started to evolve, fledge seeming a little bored of seeing so many evolutions so quick, but Iz unable to take her eyes from the sight each time. She’d missed Mystery evolving, so she didn’t want to miss another of her pokémon if she could help it. Alchemy almost doubled in height in moments, her legs suddenly becoming noticeable underneath her rather than hidden away. Her hair expanded too, the two pig tails fluffing out and growing well, leaving her feeling quite happy as she skipped down off of the ghost type. Mystery groaned as she picked herself up, glaring at the newly evolved Gothorita for a moment before sulking off to one side, trying to practice Thunderbolt on her own. “Well done Alchemy. Just can you try to be a little nicer to Mystery? Just a little.” She mused, Alchemy sighing, nodding to her trainer for a short moment, shutting her eyes for the first time that Iz had seen. Well, at least the staring wasn’t quite so permanent now. It took about an hour more before things started to settle down for the evening. It had been yet another long day for Iz and Fledge, and Mystery and Alchemy had managed to decide to make a dislike for each other along the way. Not the most perfect result in the world, but it was a result none the less. Her whole team were released once again, Taka and Atacama looked quite confused. Wait, both Kita and Alchemy had now evolved? This was meant to me a TM training exercise, not huge battles which cause evolutions to spring up everywhere. Atacama seemed really quite upset that Kira had evolved too. They’d known each other quite a while, and he’d always thought that he would be the first to evolve out of the two of them, if only at least once. He felt tiny now. Kira seemed to notice, picking up the little Land Shark with a chuckle only to receive a stubborn glare which made her laugh even more. She kept him up there as the group started to wander across to the next town once more, across in the dying light of the sun to make quite a nice effect really. “Fledge, you wanna see if you can show off your new moves?” Iz asked upwards, to the bird who was quite happily gliding above. He chirped in some kind of confirmation. He flapped his wings in that certain way to create a Vacuum Wave in front of the group. It wasn’t quite as powerful as it had been when he’d been standing on the ground in the battle with Kira, but it wasn’t too bad. It might be considered an attack by now. Next he gathered some energy in his beak, charging the energy for a moment before firing whatever Ice Beam he could. It wasn’t much. The energy dissipation was enough that the beam didn’t even hit the ground, but he didn’t seem to mind. It was better than nothing, and he still had time to practice. Finally he started collecting energy again once more, though this time working towards static instead of cold, shooting down a Thunderbolt, no matter that it barely lasted half a second and wasn’t the best in strength. It still hit the ground, and it was pretty close to where he was aiming at the ground too, which made everything good to him. The rest all watched in quite a bit of confusion. How was the bird even capable of doing these things? It just seemed that bit odd to all of them, though in the end whatever did make sense half the time? They carried on to the next town, hoping to get close by nightfall for some rest, Fledge barely able to stop grinning. He was now the most surprising member of the team with his attacks, and nothing was going to stop him from being proud of that. Not for a long, long while. |

Ok... 1BP for: Fledge, Kira, Alchemy, Mystery. Approved evolution to Kira. Approved sentence: "Kira grew in height by a little and generally evolved." Yay for awesome description skills. X3 Evolution of Alchemy delayed until you add another battle just before - maybe she battles Fledge after Mystery? |
