((So... This will be after Yuki is done playing in a forest and on a mountain...))

As usual it was sometime in the night that Yuki had started wandering about Mt. Stella. What he didn't realize, however, was the sudden difference in his surroundings. Things were a bit odd with the mountain, though he blew them off as nothing out of the ordinary given that this was Aerei. It wasn't until Adrastos stopped walking, for the Pokemon had been in deep thought as it strode around with its current trainer, which forced the teen to stop and see what was wrong.

Adrastos had noticed the entrance to the Ancient Caverns and, at first, thought nothing of it. Then he noticed, narrowing his eyes so that he could peer into the darkness, a Pokemon that seemed to have a deformed body. It was almost reminiscent of a failed experiment in trying to splice an Oddish with a Paras. Having never seen this experiment, the Pokemon motioned for his trainer to return to his side as his yellow horn started to flash in mild alarm.

This seemed to interest the teen for his yellow eyes narrowed slightly at the warning. What could have been lurking around in the cave to alarm his Pokemon like this? As soon as he looked in himself, he found he had to wait a moment before his eyes adjusted enough to allow him to see what it was Adrastos had been on about.

Now he was genuinely curious. As if to make sure he was seeing the same thing as his partner, Yuki pointed at the Oddish/Paras thing and frowned lightly as he noticed the Gallade nod. "Catch it with Psychic, then Teleport it out over here." The orders were simple enough and so were executed quickly. The results were both disappointing and confusing.

They had watched as the Oddish/Paras creature was surrounded by a blue outline, that much was certain, and then watched as the thing was Teleported out from within the cave to between trainer and partner. So why was there no spliced Pokemon, but just a normal Oddish beside a normal Paras?

There was a moment of silence as the two wild Pokemon were scrutinized closely by Adrastos and Yuki. What the hell. Trainer and Pokemon looked at one another for a moment, for once their eyes betraying their thoughts about this, before a wailing sounded from within the Umbran's backpack causing everyone to jump and the wild Pokemon to flee.

Swiftly the boy plucked out his baby Bagon from the backpack and rocked it a bit to calm it down. Once the Dragon quieted, the teen motioned for Adrastos to do something and nodded in thanks as the Pokemon plucked a few berries off a nearby tree. Soon enough Aiko was fast asleep again, having eaten her fill, leaving the leftovers to Adrastos and Yuki.

The pair decidedly sat down, using each other as back rests, and nibbled disinterestedly on the remaining berries as they tried to figure out what, in Arceus's name, had just happened. It made so little sense that it was quite troublesome for the two. Eventually Yuki let out a sigh and set down the not-even half eaten berry. His Gallade, hearing the exhale of breath, turned its head curiously to see what the boy was up to.

"Let's explore." This seemed to be the same thoughts Adrastos had because the Gallade Teleported back onto his feet and stepped forward with his trainer following close behind. As soon as they entered the cavern, they realized they made a mistake.

And the mistake started with the realization that they had been separated.

There was a sudden wave of nausea as the world shifted before Adrastos. The Pokemon clutched his head to the best of his ability, eyes held tightly shut, and he vaguely heard his trainer’s voice shout out his name in the distance. What had happened?

When everything settled down and he no longer felt his stomach lurching, the Gallade squinted open his eyes only to blink them wide open in his surprise. All around him was a field of grass, flowers, and the occasional trees scattered about. He could have sworn that he and Yuki were on Mt. Stella, making their way into an Ancient Cavern to do some exploring.

Still, as he expanded his psychic powers, he realized that this was for real; he had really ended up in some random field of flowers without Teleporting himself. The feeling of many other Pokemon around was brought to Adrastos’s attention causing the Pokemon to look around. Surely they would know where this place was and how he got there.

It wasn’t long before he finally spotted a few Pokemon: a Vileplume, Rattata, Caterpie, and a Bibarel. Adrastos approached the group of Pokemon, waving to them all to catch their attention, before inquiring as to their whereabouts. None of them answered, however, and instead reared up in frightened defense.

Apparently they had never seen a mutated Pokemon before because the Vileplume, with the intent to protect the others, actually flapped its giant petals causing powder to flitter out and float towards the Gallade. The trainer owned Pokemon stumbled back in surprise at the sudden aggression. Without thinking about it, he Teleported behind the group of Pokemon and gently tapped the Vileplume on the shoulder.

This seemed to further alarm the normal Pokemon causing the Caterpie to haphazardly shoot out String Shot at Adrastos. Once more the Psychic Fighting- type was caught off guard and this time actually got caught in the attack. He took a few steps back, the string circling his arms and tying them together, before focusing and then cutting the strings.

In case the randomly aggressive Pokemon decided to try anything else, Adrastos Teleported once more only to appear some feet away. ‘Well that was positively useless.’ The Gallade grumbled as he flicked stray strands of string from his shoulder. Looking around once more, the Pokemon tried to figure where he was on his own when he heard the voice of another.

So you’re here too, Mutant?’ the female voice inquired which, possibly to her satisfaction, annoyed Adrastos. As soon as the Gallade spun around to angrily snap back, the Pokemon instead blinked and stepped back in surprise. Before the male Pokemon was 12.24, Luno’s Jynx/Octillery mix, and the Pokemon smiled arrogantly. ‘That’s right, handsome, I’m one to talk.

At first Adrastos wasn’t sure how, exactly, to reply to this fellow creation, before he shook his head and stood straighter. ‘Unfortunately, yes, and would you, by any chance, know where we are? The reply, much to his irritation, was an outright laugh that made him cross his arms impatiently. ‘I’m trying to find my trainer, you see, so I would appreciate it if you let me hear what information you might have.

That seemed to shut the fellow mutant up as she scowled at him. This faded, however, as she crossed her arms as well and looked away haughtily. ‘I’m looking for mine as well… I guess we could work together for a while. I, after all, actually know my way around this disaster of a field.

The two locked gazes for a moment before a reluctant alliance was made and they turned to face the same direction. Without a word, the pair moved forward while looking around warily; both were keenly aware that their presence would be far desired. After a while of wandering, the entire time in a tense silence, Adrastos noticed something.

Was the field always so… off?’ He inquired as the two stopped to stare at what it was that had caught his attention. Looking closely, they realized that there was, in fact, something wrong with the field and 12.24 was quick to reveal that this was actually unusual.

I’ve been here for a few days now and I haven’t seen this!’ She admitted before slithering forward with Adrastos following closely. What they approached was the distorting of land: flowers were growing in places of leaves on the trees while the bushes were brown and bark like and the flowers were growing berries.

Holy…

~We’ve company~ Adrastos informed his companion telepathically as he nodded towards an approaching Graveler and Hariyama. However, 12.24 chose to stare at him in mild exasperation mixed with surprise which caused him to roll his eyes and openly point. ~Pay attention!~

~Hmph!~ She replied which forced Adrastos to cast her the same look she had given him; neither expected the other to be Psychic. Once she focused on the two approaching Pokemon, another haughty smile touched her lips as she lifted her head proudly. ~Nothing too hard, clearly.~

It was easily decided that 12.24 would take care of the Graveler while Adrastos dealt with the Hariyama. Surely it would be, in fact, as easy as the mutated Jynx figured. 12.24 was quick to get the battle started, much to Adrastos’s irritation considering he had been hoping that they wouldn’t necessarily have to battle as they initially believed. Of course it wouldn’t go the Gallade’s way, however, as the Jynx started things off with an arrogant Mean Look directed at both opponents.

Only Yuki would know the flash of annoyance this mutated Gallade was currently feeling as he realized what 12.24 had just done. ~What a waste; was hoping to let one flee so we could follow it to its source.~ When his companion flashed him a look of impatience, he continued with a huff. ~You’ve been here longer than I, so surely you realize that neither of these two belong here?~

It was obvious that blood has rushed to the Icy Psychic’s cheeks as she realized the sense in her companion’s thoughts, but before she could snap at the Gallade, the Graveler and Hariyama decided to make their moves. Clearly these two were close companions because the Hariyama took hold of the Graveler which curled up the best it could to be more round, and used Vital Throw to give speed to the rock’s Rollout.

In instant response, just before 12.24 could get any bright ideas, Adrastos’s eyes shone blue before the pair of them Teleported behind the Hariyama. Of course 12.24 had to make a noise of protest which caught the attention of the large Fighting- type. Because of this, the Pokemon spun around the best it could and prepared to rush forward to use a Force Palm on either of the two trainer-owned Pokemon.

~Let me-~ 12.24 started before indignantly being cut off by Adrastos shouting ‘Wait!’ and quickly crossed her arms irritably. Much to the surprise of her ally, however, she waited to see what in Luno’s name this idiot was hoping for only to take a sharp breath as she watched what had happened.

As the Hariyama lumbered towards them, the Graveler using Rollout had eventually finished doing a U- turn and came barreling back to the battle. The result of this, however, was it crashing into its friend and causing the latter to go flying. Still, because of the speed of the Graveler, the Rock Pokemon continued its course towards 12.24 and Adrastos.

~Alright, now you can do it~ Adrastos stepped to the side and waved a blade-arm towards the approaching opponent while looking towards the Jynx expectantly. It was a good thing that he stepped to the side, too, because as soon as he let it known that 12.24 could attack, the Jynx fired an icy wind filled with small snowballs from her mouth in a Blizzard.

It was a relief to Adrastos that he was currently this girl’s partner because just the chill of that breeze made him shudder violently. Now if only the Blizzard had been enough to knock out that hunk of rock and its buddy, really. But no, of course not, because that stupid Graveler knew the right time to use Endure; luckily the Rollout was stopped though.

Unluckily, however, was that the Hariyama had completely deterred the Blizzard by countering with a Whirlwind. Following up this Whirlwind was aSand-Attack that took to the sky nicely in the Whirlwind. The sand flew right over the Graveler, blinding that Pokemon just as much as the Ground attack was meant to blind 12.24 and Adrastos.

Of course, Adrastos was ready to defend. Easily he placed himself before 12.24 again, this time without any protest as she wasn’t exactly keen on being doused with sand, and he began to use Protect. As such, a light green barrier surrounded the pair upon Adrastos crossing his blade-arms in an X formation before him.

At the same time, 12.24 decided that she would try again with another Ice attack; one that didn’t take as much effort to focus well enough to ensure a hit. Lips puckered, she slipped from behind Adrastos, still protected by the Gallade’s barrier, and blew out Powdered Snow to freeze the opponent.

The two watched as some of the Sand-Attack froze mid air and they waited warily for their opponents to make another move. Much to their suspicious surprise, nothing happened. Still, they didn’t want to take a chance so Adrastos Teleported them back to where they had been when the battle first began.

The Graveler, to avoid any possible attacks while it was blinded, had backtracked the best it could and narrowly avoided being frozen while its partner, the Hariyama, had Detected 12.24’s choice of attack and was quick to move out of range. Well this was certainly getting bothersome; why did 12.24 have to use Mean Look?

~I’m not apologizing!~ The Pokemon snapped haughtily making Adrastos smack a palm against his forward in a very human fashion. ~Better start paying attention again, big boy, because here they come.~ 12.24 huffed telepathically as she prepared to use another Powder Snow. She was, however, stopped from it as Adrastos decidedly came up with an idea.

Now it was up to their opponents to waltz right into it and for 12.24 to actually follow through with her part. Step one appeared to play out nicely, if the fact it involved the opponents making the first move, with Hariyama using Belly Drum to get stronger, consequently cutting its health in half, and the Graveler using Magnitude.

First things first: needed to avoid that Magnitude so that they could actually get somewhere in this battle. Adrastos and his partner, at least, were both at full health still while their opponents were low. What, the Gallade inquired silently as he focused on an image of his trainer in his mind, would Yuki have us do in this situation?

Counter with Earthquake

Eyes focusing on the approaching Magnitude, Adrastos swiftly informed his partner that he was about to use Earthquake so she better find a way to protect herself before pulling an arm back in preparation. At the corner of his eye, he noticed 12.24 lift into the air using a Psychic on herself before focusing on his attack. Soon enough he had cut through the earth, a shockwave occurring underground causing plates to shift, and the Earthquake began.

Only to bump heads with the Magnitude.

There seemed to be some sort of implosion causing the four, as well as unlucky others nearby, to get bombarded by jagged rocks shooting out from underground and throwing each one backwards. So maybe that wasn’t the greatest plan, but hadn’t he heard Yuki’s voice give the command? ‘It was destructive’ the Gallade grumbled as the world spun around his mildly aching head. ‘Destruction fascinates that teen, if I recall correctly.

~Look out!~ 12.24 screeched in Adrastos’s mind making him both flinch at the unwanted noise in his mind and focus at what was happening around him. Once again the Graveler had been flung towards him via Vital Throw and so the Rock was speeding towards him in a Bulldoze.

Hardly a thought passed his mind as he flung an arm up, it awash with a light green glow, and the blade at his elbow lengthened. The Pokemon swiftly returned to his feet, running purely on instinct, as he dashed forward to meet the Graveler head on; earned a second scream in the mind where he was given quite colorful names.

As the two approached one another, Adrastos performed a Swords Dance at the last minute and then the attacks clashed. There was a trail of energy following the path of that Leaf Blade Adrastos had activated that, much to 12.24’s relieve, passed through the Graveler. Adrastos had struck down his opponent and managed to sustain little damage from the Bulldoze.

12.24, unwilling to be outdone by that idiot, flashed a look at the perturbed Hariyama as the Graveler fell to the ground, unmoving and crumbling into smaller rocks or pebbles. The moment the Arm Thrust Pokemon glanced over at her, Fake Tears escaped her as if she was shocked to see the Rock Pokemon just drop like that and effectively fooled the Hariyama.

A cocky smile soon touched her lips as she was outlined by a gray glow to signify her using Nasty Plot. This seemed to confuse the Hariyama, she had been crying seconds ago after all, until it hit that the Fighting- type had been played; literally hit.

Once again the Octillery/Jynx blew out a gust of Powdered Snow towards the opponent and she quickly coupled it with a Confusion to keep the opponent from somehow avoiding the attack. It was a good call, too, because the Hariyama was just about to use Detect again and charge towards the unsuspecting Gallade. Adrastos was staring unseeingly at the Graveler he had just defeated, kneeling beside the fallen Pokemon, and appeared to be momentarily lost to the world.

Well no matter because 12.24 could handle things without him. Even better, it seemed the combination of Confusion and Powder Snow was just what was needed to defeat the wild Pokemon; without, of course, forgetting about the Fake Tears and Nasty Plot effects. Now why couldn’t the other bumbling idiot have been as easy as that?

Whatever the case, 12.24 brushed rubble off herself proudly before slithering over to Adrastos’s side and drumming her fingers impatiently on her side; how long was the loser going to kneel there, honestly? ‘Is there any real reason why you’re sulking like this?’ she inquired rather intolerantly which seemed to snap the other out of his reverie.

It isn’t honorable to take an opponent’s life after being the reason for the other to start battling in the first place.’ Adrastos replied slowly, emptily, as he returned to his feet and turned his weary eyes to his companion. As if to avoid some sort of snide comment that was, in fact, about to be made, the Gallade motioned towards the direction he was facing. ‘I peeked into the Graveler’s mind just before it was overtaken by darkness. They came from that direction.

In a tense silence, the pair then moved on to see what awaited them.

At first there were no noticeable differences from anything else around them, but then they felt a pain in their minds that prodded insistently and began to distort their surroundings. In the beginning, neither thought much of it and dismissed it as something that would be inevitable if they were heading in the right direction.

Then Adrastos randomly pointed out what appeared to be a flower growing berries with interest. The interest was rather innocent until 12.24 suspiciously pointed out a few trees that looked like they were growing different flowers where the leaves should have been. Of course, these telltale signs only became more apparent as the headaches worsened and they continued on their way.

Just as they were starting to question their sanity, 12.24 soon announced that they had lost it when they saw a Zubat running around with a Makuhita body and occasionally jumping into the air where it would flap around a moment then drop back down in a daze. What in each of their trainers’ names did they do to lose their minds?

I don’t think we’ve lost our minds,’ Adrastos mumbled to his companion as they continued to watch the odd mutant go about its confused way. When 12.24 scoffed at his words, the Gallade explained patiently that he and Yuki had run across an Oddish/Paras thing before entering the cave to find it. ‘Of course, that’s when we ended up getting separated.’ He finished with a shrug of his shoulders and motioning the other to continue on with him.

12.24 was still skeptical about this, even going so far as to voice it, and stuck firmly to her belief that they both went insane. This didn’t explain why their insane states allowed them to see the same things, but that was conveniently left out of the conversation. ‘Is that a regular tree, or am I seeing things?

Adrastos nearly replied that 12.24 had, in fact, lost her mind if she was seeing normal sights when he stopped walking and stared with surprise as he saw what she meant. ‘And to think, I was about to agree with you that you were insane.’ He commented in a tone that revealed he was only joking. It wasn’t taken all that well, 12.24 indignantly slapping his arm for it, but at least his words being nothing more than a joke was clear to both.

A mutual agreement to take a short break where they stopped was made and so the pair rested right there. A random thought came to the Gallade’s mind before he decidedly used Heal Pulse on the Icy Psychic ally. ‘At least one of us needs to be in the best of shape.’ He explained offhandedly which earned him a half-hearted scowl.

Eventually it was decided they had wasted enough time, seeing as how the distortions only seemed to get worse the longer they lingered, and the pair moved towards the lone tree that just happened to be perfectly fine. Just before they could reach the tree, probably only being a few feet from the oddity, the two jumped back in surprise because a Zubat that looked like it was a mix of Poliwag, Machop, and itself flew out from the tree.

That was certainly not what they had been expecting; some normal tree!

Boy, I don’t think-’ 12.24 was cut off, her starting to get the feeling that everything was trying to tell her to stop talking, as a steely roar was sounded from nearby. ~Oh whatnow!~ She cried out in exasperation to Adrastos telepathically. They were, apparently, better of using this method of communication; at least she couldn’t be cut off easily like this.

~You know…~ Adrastos trailed off as he pointed disapprovingly at an extra large Steelix which happened to be glaring down at them; ~I liked it better when I didn’t know.~ Both flinched, Adrastos warily and 12.24 resentfully, as the Steelix hollered again; why was this thing also normal looking as long as the size was ignored? ~Why couldn’t it have been that Zubat, Poliwag, Machop thing?~

~Because,~ 12.24 sulked as she appeared to flick hair away from her face before producing Fake Tears once more and smirking in satisfaction as it made the Steelix uncomfortable. ~That would have been too easy!~ When her words were replied to with a mental groan of protest, she rolled her eyes. ~Be a good boy and stay out of my way if you’re not eager to battle.~

Much to her surprise, a concentrated blade of psychic energy whizzed by her and struck the Steelix causing it to Screech in pain. Eyes wide, she turned her attention to Adrastos who stepped forward as a flash of determination appeared in his sharp, red eyes. ~Can’t do that, missy, because a good boy wouldn’t attract the attention of a bad girl.~

Despite their situation, Adrastos still was managing to be a bit of a flirt, possibly a hobby gentlemen shared, and managed to make their situation appear a less dire than previously viewed. This was only emphasized, the lack of terror of what was happening, as 12.24 slapped Adrastos’s arm again. ~Don’t play cute, mister! And I’m 12.24, genius!~

Adratos managed a quick ~Adrastos~ as reply to 12.24’s revealing her name before pulling up a Protective barrier just as the Steelix bore down an Iron Tail upon their heads. Clearly it was about time the pair focused on the task at hand instead of biting one another’s heads off with banter. 12.24 seemed to get the hint about focusing, it coming across mutually by Adrastos’s actions, and she prepared to use Sweet Kiss.

The Jynx blew a kiss towards the Steelix, pink lips floating up towards the Steel- type in hopes of confusing it. Of course, this proved to do nothing for the Steelix merely Raged at the attempt, apparently it was as female as 12.24 was, and drew a breath in preparation for another attack; the tail had been pulled back allowing Adrastos to cancel his Protect.

Moments after Adrastos did so, the Steelix fired a green beam of air in an attempt to strike either Psychic- types with a Dragonbreath. Of course, the Pokemon had to be targeting specifically Adrastos this entire time because it was, in the first place, the Gallade that struck back. Keeping this in mind, Adrastos used Double Team to make several copies of himself just before the Gallade standing in the direct path of the Dragonbreath disappeared.

12.24, meanwhile, was fuming. Once again, she cast her opponent a Mean Look, albeit this was a new battle, before puffing her cheeks up and unleashing a torrent of Powdered Snow. The Steelix, however, barely even noticed the Ice attack as it was paying attention to the several Leers Adrastos and his clones were making. Feeling as if she was being one- upped, the Jynx began to cook up a Nasty Plot so she could get the opponent’s attention.

At the same time, Adrastos was practically dancing around as the Steelix threw rock after rock at the Gallade and his clones. It wasn’t long before the Rock Throws ended all of the images and one ended up slamming the Blade Pokemon hard in the chest. To follow this success, the metallic snake let out a Screech in triumph only to cut it short as Adrastos easily returned to his feet.

It appeared that the Gallade was about to do some special attack, the way his eyes flashed, and this caused the Steelix to tense in expectation. Of course, Adrastos’s ‘special attack’ was nothing more than a Helping Hand directed to his battle partner that literally left the opponent disappointed at the lack of challenge.

This, however, didn’t bother Adrastos much as the Pokemon smirked in satisfaction as a Blizzard abruptly blew in. He pulled up another barrier to Protect him from the attack, wary that the Ice move would prove to be hard to ignore, and watched as the Steelix actually writhed a bit before part of it gathered ice and froze.

The Steelix, irritated at the bothersome temperature drop, turned its attention momentarily to 12.24 to size up the mutant Jynx. 12.24 simply straightened her back and glared defiantly up at the metal snake until it lunged towards her to perform a Slam. Alright, maybe this wasn’t the greatest idea she’s had considering she couldn’t just Teleport whenever the way her partner could.

Still, she held her ground and attempted an attack anyways. The move she decided to attempt was, to Adrastos’s surprise, Sing. It was a good thing the Gallade still had Protect up or else he would have dropped to the ground fast asleep. No matter what, however, it seemed to work nicely as the Steelix’s eyes drooped quite a bit.

Of course the Steelix had to still be flying towards 12.24 in its sleep which made Adrastos thoughtlessly lunge into battle. In the next instant, Adrastos had Teleported before the Jynx causing the latter to inhale sharply in surprise. Following up the sudden appearance was the Gallade’s using Close Combat.

Adrastos, aglow with a metallic red, waited for the sleeping Steelix to get closer before striking with swift, fluid jabs; slices; and finishing with a kick that sent the Iron Snake flying to the side. Of course, that flight was short-lived and the Pokemon ended up lying on its side sprawled across the distorted field.

The two stood there, panting heavily as they stared openly at the Steelix. It hadn’t hit them just yet that they no longer felt the headaches which made the distortions worsen. For now, the pair shared a look and actually allowed hysterics to kick in for a moment as a form of laughter before Adrastos Teleported the pair to the other side of their fallen foe.

So, back to this tree that gave birth to that mutant Zubat…’ 12.24 announced as she peered warily at the seemingly normal tree. When she noticed no response from her partner, the Pokemon turned around and scowled as she realized Adrastos was using Heal Pulse on the Steelix. ‘What are you doing!

She’s fallen, still alive, and is defenseless in this state; to keep her alive, I am healing her. Problem?’ Adrastos replied rather calmly as he clapped his hands in a fashion stating that he had completed his business and turned back to the tree. The look of absolute exasperation 12.24 gave him was enough to force him to plant fists on his hips and glare boldly back. ‘It’s only courtesy to treat others well- even if they were enemies at some point!

Well! 12.24 was breathing heavily as her cheeks burned in anger because of the way Adrastos was speaking to her. ‘I will have you kno-’ As Arceus would have it, however, the Octillery/Jynx had been cut off once again; this proving to be quite an odd way to be interrupted.

The sleeping Steelix snorted in its sleep, twitching slightly, before swinging its tail randomly in the pair’s direction and catching both Psychic- types completely off guard. The result of this was their being shot towards the normal tree, Adrastos protectively holding 12.24 while the Jynx clung confusedly to him, and then their entering the tree.

The next thing they knew, the distortion had gotten out of hand and everything was crazy for a moment before it settled down and they landed on hard, cold cave floor with a thump and skid. Dazed from the abrupt strike coupled with the pains of distortion, 12.24 and Adrastos laid there, sprawled about, trying to recollect their bearings.

This courtesy you spoke of… Does it always involve being tossed around like a doll?
Arceus no… That’s just what happens when a Jynx Sings a Steelix to bed.
Oh you little…

Arceus damn it…” Yuki cursed for the first time in English since he lost track of Adrastos; “I’m so killing you later…” Who that was directed to would remain a mystery as the teen wiped sweat off his brow for the umpteenth time that hour. Another mystery, more than likely the more important mystery, was how Yuki had gone from entering a cave to wandering around a volcano.

And he thought he recognized this volcano, too. It looked like a mixture of the one back on Cinnabar, yet also looked like Mt. Chimney; possibly a cross of the two. Of course, at the moment, making such observations would do the teen no good because, in the end, it gave him no clues about what had just happened.

The last he remembered was everything distorting around him, even his body had started to distort, and he was shouting for Adrastos to Teleport them outside only for his voice to fail him. When everything settled down, he was at the base of this blazing hot volcano- was it supposed to be so hot at the base- and he was without his Pokemon partner. Well shoot; the Umbran didn’t exactly have the right to lose that Pokemon.

Even better, he had lost the Gallade’s Pokeball at the same time. It must have happened sometime during the shifting of locations because at one point the Pokeball had been clipped to his belt. Yuki, after realizing the device was missing, started his rant of curses in whatever languages he could remember as he spent a good few hours searching- had he spent a few hours? He couldn’t be sure because there was no telling time here: constantly burning hot, moon and sun fusing as one near the top of the volcano, no shadows, too troublesome.

There was an abrupt Howl from ahead which forced Yuki out of his reverie and to look ahead with obvious irritation. Yellow eyes watched as a familiar Puppy came sprinting back with its tail practically between its hind legs. “What now, Surya?

Apparently not even the condescending tone in his voice was enough to snap the Growlithe of its bothered state as the Pokemon leapt into his arms and whimpered. That was when the teen noticed what Surya had been fleeing from: a Poliwrath and a Simisear. Wait, what in Arceus’s name was a Poliwrath doing on a volcano? Much to the Umban’s irritation, there wasn’t time to wonder for the pair of wild Pokemon was attacking.

A beam of bubbles escaped the center of the Poliwrath’s swirl and flew directly towards the trainer and Pokemon while the Simisear sent a burst of flames to follow up the BubbleBeam. Yuki, of course, didn’t appreciate being targeted and ordered his Growlithe to Protect them. Luckily the Puppy had gotten used to using this attack, Yuki having had trained the Growlithe the entire time they spent here on the volcano, and so the barrier was set up without a problem.

Once the Protective barrier was up, the trainer placed his Growlithe down and plucked a Pokeball from his PC and released Sylvn. “Sylvn, Disable the attacks both opponents just used.” Yuki ordered as he pointed at the Poliwrath and Simisear in turn.

Soon after receiving the order, the Arbok sent disruptive thought waves towards his opponents causing the two Pokemon to momentarily forget how to use BubbleBeam and Flame Burst. The Poliwrath didn’t seem to be all that bothered, however, because it then decided to fire a Water Gun at Sylvn while the Simisear focused on Surya and decided to Fling the Oran Berry it had been holding.

Well wasn’t this just the most troublesome turn of events after the several hours of separation. “Surya, Flamethrower that berry- Sylvn, Coil around Surya to protect him from the Water Gun; should be strong enough for it to not bother you much.” It might have been a little harsh, having the Cobra take the hit for his Puppy, but as fate had it the Growlithe didn’t have the special defense to outdo a Water attack- even if the Pokemon had a decent amount of battle experience. Ignoring the battle experience, the type disadvantage was troublesome.

Still, both Surya and Sylvn held so much faith in their trainer that it didn’t bother them in the slightest that one had just been ordered to play the meatshield while the other fought back behind the safety of the other’s pain. Sylvn barely winced as the Water Gun beat against his scaly back while Surya peeked from behind and unleashed an overpowered Flamethrower which turned the Oran Berry into ash rather quickly; must have been the environment that gave Surya strength.

Without wasting a second, time that was being wasted by the wild Pokemon as they hesitated, Yuki shouted his next orders, “Fire Spin on the opponents, Surya! Sylvn, Screech to keep them distracted.” Immediately after these orders were issued out, Sylvn rounded up, flaring out his hood which was quite Intimidating, and began to Screech irritably. Yuki almost regretted that one.

While the Poliwrath held its hands to where its ears apparently were, the Simisear began to screech as well, though this was far from an attack, while running around its Water/Fighting- type friend. As if it couldn’t take it anymore, it used Heat Wave just as Surya sent a tornado of fire over at the pair of wild Pokemon.

The result of this was there being a battle between fire power until Yuki called the Fire Spin off and ordered his Growlithe to take the Heat Wave for both itself and for the Arbok. Surya was quick to comply with the change of tactics and was soon basking in the Fire attack as Flash Fire activated.

Sylvn ended his attack as soon as he saw the Heat Wave approaching him and almost shrank back; he couldn’t take that. It came as a great relief when Surya jumped to his rescue and absorbed the fire that he was meant to take. The gratitude was made known as the Pokemon hissed out a thanks a few seconds before Yuki commented “This battle is taking quite a long time.

Both Pokemon agreed with the flick of their tails before the Poliwrath decidedly lunged forward to attempt a DynamicPunch on Surya since the Puppy was closest while the Simisear followed its partner’s lead with the plans of using Crunch on Sylvn. As the two Pokemon approached, Yuki had his Pokemon switch places. As soon as it was Sylvn being aimed for by the Poliwrath and Surya being aimed for by the Simisear, the pair received further commands to prevent the opponents from switching places as well.

Thunder Fang, Sylvn! Take Down, Surya!” The teen shouted as he impatiently ran a hand through his hair. While the battle raged on, time ticked away relentlessly and remained as a reminder that Adrastos was still somewhere random just like the Gallade’s Pokeball. “Shimatta...” he cursed under his breath while shaking his head.

As the Umbran tried to distract his thoughts from his ill-humor by observing his surroundings, the battle before him raged on.

Sylvn was the first to make a move between himself and Surya; electricity crackling dangerously as it jumped around between his fangs. This seemed to cause the Poliwrath to hesitate once more, the Intimidating look in Sylvn’s eyes also contributing to this, and so the Arbok snapped his head forward upon seeing the chance.

Electricity was soon embedded into the Water/Fighting- type as Sylvn’s fangs dug into his target; some bolts jumping away from the target and getting into the path between Surya and his target. Still he continued to charge forward, spontaneously deciding that he could use that electricity to his advantage, and actually tried to gather the stray bolts around him the way he gathered fire.

It appeared to work for the most part, however Surya still felt the effects of the foreign attack going through his body and weakening him. Before the Puppy could reconsider what he had just done, the Simisear jumped forward to Crunch down on him and so he Wildly Charged into the Fire Monkey.

Yuki had just happened to look back at the battle, having made a dreadful discovery, only to bite his tongue as he watched his Growlithe perform an attack it shouldn’t have been aware of: Wild Charge. Sure Wild Charge was basically a second Take Down, but a Growlithe wasn’t able to learn to add electricity to its Take Down without a TM or guidance by the trainer.

Well wasn’t Surya just proving to be quite reliable? It was nice, at least, to see a decent amount of damage to be done on the opponents at least; the Screech proving its use as much as Sylvn’s Coil. The Poliwrath was clearly weakened by that Thunder Fang while the Simisear seemed to be mostly weakened; Surya now showing signs of weariness.

Sighing, the scientist knew that he would have to fix that minor problem and he quickly got to work just as Sylvn released the Poliwrath because of the Pokemon using Doubleslap on it and Surya leapt back to avoid Flame Burst; looked like Disable faded. This battle had gone on long enough, though it probably hadn’t been more than ten or so minutes, and Yuki suddenly felt the need to move on.

Surya, Morning Sun then Agility over to Crunch Simisear- Sylvn, Acid then Poison Jab at Poliwrath.

As Surya focused on gathering the energy provided by the sun, Sylvn gathered up the poisonous gunk into his mouth before spitting the Acid out at his opponents to buy Surya needed time. The Poliwrath swatted spazzingly at the electricity still running around its body and so did nothing to avoid the Acid; this proved quite bothersome to the Pokemon. At the same time, the Simisear swiftly used another Flame Burst to keep the Acid from reaching it.

Of course, with the Acid doing its job as a distraction, neither wild Pokemon expected the follow- up attacks. Surya used the speed boost provided by the Psychic- type attack to appear quite suddenly before the Fire Monkey. With the element of surprise on his side, he swiftly bit down on the opponent with a mighty Crunch. This, luckily, was enough to defeat the Ember Pokemon for it went limp immediately.

Sylvn had a bit of trouble on his end, unfortunately, for the Poliwrath was annoyed at having been victim to the Acid attack immediately after the Thunder Fang. Instead of it being an easy hit, the Poliwrath decided to use Mind Reader and easily dodged the Cobra’s attack making him hiss in irritation. That wasn’t supposed to happen. Still, Sylvn continued to try the Poison Jab, though most of it was just jabs without any poison, until the Poliwrath struck him with a Bubblebeam.

Another hiss escaped the mutated Pokemon as it reared up angrily and flashed an intimidating Glare at the Tadpole Pokemon causing it to freeze, paralyzed. “Finish it, Sylvn, Thunder Fang!” The lone trainer shouted only to frown as his Pokemon unleashed a mighty battle cry and bit down onto the Poliwrath; electricity flying everywhere wildly. Unlike the Simisear, the Poliwrath wouldn’t be returning to its feet.

The yellow eyed teen let out a sigh as his Pokemon returned to his side and peered up at him expectantly. Considering they had received no reply, Sylvn tried to comfort the boy by curling around him and squeezing in a hug- like way similar to what the Cobra had done back when it was an Ekans.

Much to the relief of both Pokemon, this seemed to snap the trainer out of his thoughts as he attempted to shove Sylvn off of him. “All right, I’m focused, now get off!” He growled before the Cobra relinquished its grip on him and wagged its tail happily. Yuki had been thinking about the small details he’d noticed while he was looking around; apparently the volcano was more than just a cross of the two he’d seen from different regions.

Thoughtfully, the boy returned his Arbok back into its Pokeball so that it wouldn’t suffer from the heat before turning towards the top of the volcano and gesturing towards it. “Our destination just became hazy.” And this was literal for there wasn’t smoke coming from within the crater, but a freezing haze.

Once Surya nodded in understanding, the pair began their excruciatingly long trek towards the top. It had taken a good part of the day, Yuki was pretty sure that was an accurate telling of the time there, to get over halfway before they dropped to their stomachs exhausted. It almost felt like it took an hour just to go a couple yards.

This is my luck, this is my wonderful luck. You go against Arceus’s wishes once and it decides it needs to make living more difficult than it already is just so you can repent. When the hell will I have fully repented for my actions?” The complaining, of course, went completely over Surya’s head making the Pokemon stare with an obvious look of confusion.

Instead of explaining, however, Yuki pushed himself back onto his feet before he returned the Growlithe back into its Pokeball while muttering – “Save your energy for when you may need it” – and resumed his extraneous hike. More time passed which he spent walking, resting every now and then to care for Aiko, until he finally reached the very top where he could peer down at the boiling lava.

Here, the distortions became obvious and were quite bizarre. A field of Gracidea flowers was in full bloom all around the crater as highly mutated Yanma buzzed around in confusion. There was also a stream of water running above his head, a few clouds touching the crater around him, without a single drop touching him.

Curiosity getting the best of him, he reached up and dipped a finger into the water only for a small smile to snake its way onto his features and an unenthusiastic look of wonder reached his eyes. The water ran down his arm and chilled him before he got the wonderful idea to catch some water and drink it.

It was delicious and made him feel quite lively- like his energy had been restored as every ache and pain lifted from him; even his mood disappeared as he felt a sense of cleansing. The water was too good to pass up and so he plucked a canteen he hadn’t used since his days before Aerei out of his PC to fill it with the wonderful water. Once that was filled to the brim, he returned it to his PC and pulled out a regular water bottle out of his backpack to fill that up as well.

His momentary happiness was cut short, however, just as he was tightening the cap on the bottle. A random Feebas fused with Magikarp and Seaking qualities leapt out of the water and down towards him which forced out a cry of surprise from the teen. While the creature lifted back into the water, Yuki found himself teetering, wildly waving his arms to catch his balance, only to fall off the crater and down the vent.

Arceus, I’m going to kill you!

There was a period of darkness before Yuki began to stir once more. A dull ache returned to him before transforming into something fierce as his consciousness was fully revived. The 17 year old had landed on his stomach, very much saving the baby Bagon tucked safely away in his backpack, and he had landed on the cold ground of a cave.

The Umbran was back in that Ancient Cavern that he had lost Adrastos in. Scrambling onto his feet in his sudden desire to reunite with the Gallade proved to be a terrible move as the world spun and distorted considerably. Was there no escaping this ruining of laws of physics he had forced himself to understand during his childhood with Professor Oak?

Staggering, Yuki slammed against a wall and clung to it as he waited in vain for everything to make sense again. Realizing that there was no change, however, he forced himself to move on and continue the search despite the poor condition. It might have been the better choice.

As he stumbled about almost blindly, he believed he heard the angered roars of a ferocious Pokemon both nearby and far away; it was impossible to tell. For all he knew, however, he hadn’t actually gotten up at all and was hallucinating where he somehow landed after falling into that volcano- nothing made any sense at all.

What could have been causing all of these problems, besides Arceus itself? It was distorting how everything melted together and pulled apart to become something else. The keyword, it began to dawn upon the youth, was ‘distort’. There was only one creature in existence, as far as he could recall at the moment as his mind was heavy a migraine, able to cause such damage without drawing attention to itself.

Giratina was somehow involved in this because it was the one out of three Sinnoh legendaries that could distort the surroundings without need of company. “[colo=#80a0ff]Impossible,[/color]” the teen dismissed the idea quickly as he was sure there was no way that he would run into such a powerful Pokemon. He’d done enough damage to prevent him the opportunities leading towards legendaries.

Dwelling on these thoughts, the teen nearly missed the first mutation he had run into since his return to the cavern. The creature appeared to be a Gallade, Jynx, and Octillery fuse with a touch of Carvanha. At first the two proved to be unsure of the other, stopping to stare in disbelief for a moment, before each of them scrambled back and yelped in their surprise.

He had lost the first mutation that Adrastos pointed out to him in the very beginning, clearly it wasn’t sinking in that this might have also been a distortion, and the Umbran scientist was determined to capture it. So saying, a ball soon appeared in his hand and he threw it almost immediately at the part that was Gallade.

--

I said I was sorry,’ Adrastos grumbled for the hundredth time since they got back up and began their wandering. 12.24 was still quite irked at having been smacked into a tree by that Steelix from not long ago and she was making sure that the Gallade knew it. ‘When are you going to get over this?

Oh shut up’’ was the reoccurring reply that, inevitably, was never obeyed. Despite 12.24’s holding a hand to her head as if she had quite a headache, there was, in fact, nothing seriously wrong. A problem had actually been solved.

The pair were part Psychic, after all, so a little trick of the mind surely wouldn’t affect them that much, right? This was the conclusion they had come up with and it was with this conclusion that urged the pair to steel their minds from all the distorting thoughts.

At first there was no change besides the greater intensity of their headaches, but eventually they started to get the hang of the pain. Once they had taken control of the pain, it proved easy enough to mold it into a shield of all that was wrong and allow them to see all that was normal.

Unfortunately this was a rather temporary solution for what was apparently quite permanent. Every now and then one of them would slip up for one reason for another and would end up suffering even more from the distortions. It was imperative that neither let the problems of this hopeless cavern bring either of them to their knees.

Both were tired, however, and close to the point of just flopping onto the rough ground to give up. Without Yuki, Adrastos was absolutely against Teleporting out of this insane place and without Adrastos, 12.24 was unable to leave using such an easy short cut. Because of these little facts, both were quite unhappy.

Oh, can’t we just give up?’ 12.24 threw her hands into the air in a frustrated manner as she watched Adrastos wearily take down another pair of Pokemon that more than likely made up one distorted mutant. There was no reply, however, as the Blade Pokemon continued forward with the Jynx following reluctantly.

Then the pair stopped in their tracks because Adrastos had thrust a hand to out to his side to keep 12.24 from advancing. Right before them was the very person Adrastos had been hoping to find and he couldn’t help but stare at the boy. ‘Yuki!’ The Gallade cried out just as the boy shouted something unintelligent.

‘That’s your trainer? He’s just a brat!’ 12.24 tiredly complained while the human produced a Pokeball out of thin air. This seemed to catch her interest as she commented with an intelligent ‘Huh?’ just before the boy with yellow eyes threw the capturing device. ‘You sure this is your boy?

It was definitely his trainer, this much was certain, so why did the human just throw a Pokeball at him? ‘He’s definitely mine…’ Adrastos replied quietly as he slapped the Pokeball away from himself thoughtlessly. ‘What is he doing, attacking me like this?

There was no audible reply, however, as a flash of red light appeared beside him causing the Gallade to jump. Looking over to see what had happened, he nearly slapped a hand over his eyes as he realized what he had just done: captured 12.24 without meaning to. What was worse that the mutant Jynx was obviously too tired to even fight her way out of the ball.

Well crap…’ Adrastos muttered as he used his Psychic power to pick up the ball and turn his attention to Yuki. ‘Now what?’ He turned his attention to the boy only to realize that the human was formulating a plan. Instinctually the Pokemon decided Teleporting was necessary to escape this problem; habit told him to bring Yuki along.

And so the next thing the pair knew, they were side by side and somehow even deeper into the caverns. What the pair hadn’t been expecting was that there were no distortions in this deeper cavern. “Adrastos?

--

Yuki blinked as he noticed his Gallade by his side; a wave of relief washed over him and he noted that the feeling reached his Pokemon partner. The Pokemon, realizing he had noticed it, held out the Pokeball that he had thrown. Staring at it, Yuki gingerly took it back and placed it in his PC only to frown softly as it went to section where he stored Pokemon.

12.24…?” he mumbled as he peered at the information presented before him. Was that what he had caught earlier? “But how…” there wasn’t a chance for him to continue, however, because a menacing roar escaped something nearby and the pair snapped their attention before them.

It might have been a mistake because the creature glaring down at them was exactly what Yuki had been hoping to be wrong about. “Giratina.” As if responding to its name, the Pokemon growled threateningly as it leaned forward with quite a Scary Face. An Ominous Wind seemed to be gathering around it when Yuki realized it was the literal attack; Giratina was preparing to destroy these intruders.

Adrastos Protect!

The Blade Pokemon was quick to comply as it threw itself onto Yuki and summoned a Protective barrier around the two; not even a second later did the Ominous Wind bear down upon them. While the two huddled on the ground, Yuki continued to stare with wide, emotionless eyes, up at the Giratina.

It’s quite territorial, isn’t it?” The only reply he got was a smack of the head by Adrastos. The situation didn’t exactly call for the teen to be studying the legendary but to be figuring out how to get out of there and fast. Still, he continued to peer at the Ghostly Dragon and even cocked his head a bit. “That form looks different from what I’ve seen in drawings.

Adrastos, unwilling to stick around, attempted another Teleport and sighed in relief when he succeeded to do so. Of course, this only attracted the previously surprised opponent’s attention and caused it to roar in anger again. Why were they still near this demonic creature!

The distortion, Adrastos, is probably the failure in accuracy. You probably can’t Teleport to the right place because of the side effect of Giratina’s presence.” It was a rather calm analysis and seemed to be right. Now the only problem was coming up with how they planned to escape this life threatening encounter.

As the Pokemon turned its attention back to the pair, it gathered power between its jaws. Soon enough it unleashed a DragonBreath attack and the pair stumbled away to hide behind a boulder. This boulder was destroyed instantly, however, which caused the two to take to the air with pieces of the rock hitting them; Yuki taking it head on to protect Aiko in his backpack.

As the two hit the ground, Yuki slid his backpack to his chest and held it carefully yet firmly as his back slammed against the ground. “Che!” He hissed as he lay there, still clutching his bag, and letting the sounds fade into the distance while his vision swam.

As he was helped up by Adrastos, it barely registered that he was half running, half limping beside his hurrying Pokemon as the ground around them exploded due to an Earth Power. The migraine caused by the past distortions escalated to an unbearable level and he soon found everything moving in slow motion.

His heart rate seemed to slow down as everything took on a sharpened clarity around him excluding the pain his body was in. The youth was now running on old instincts and he snatched his Gallade’s arm and dashed forward in a speed that was astonishing to the Pokemon. They soon dived behind another boulder, unseen by Giratina, and the pair rested there for a moment as Yuki peered up at the searching Renegade Pokemon.

How were they supposed to get out of this one? The Umbran looked around, taking note of how the cavern had no exits, and scowled. “Destroy ceiling.” These words escaped his lips thoughtlessly earning a dumbfounded look from his Pokemon. Noticing it, Yuki impatiently pointed at the ceiling. “Psycho Cut,” he clarified before pointing at their feet; “Earthquake.

There was no room for argument as far as Adrastos could tell as he kept eye contact with those narrowed yellow eyes, so the Pokemon turned away and prepared to do as he was told. Not long after he had shot several concentrated blades of psychic energy up at the ceiling which, consequently, caught the Giratina’s attention.

Adrastos was just glad his Psycho Cuts actually worked. As far as the pair understood, his attacks wouldn’t always be at their most obedient with that legendary around. While the opponent turned around all the way, a rather slow process in all reality, the Gallade made several attempts at Teleporting.

Only worked twice, and both times they found themselves with their faces against the ground. “Better idea- run!” Yuki hissed as he pushed himself up and dragged the Blade Pokemon onto its feet as they hit the ground running. Once again there was an Ominous Wind summoned and, of course, they were the target. “Teleport, Protect, Double Team- don’t get hit!

The stream of desperate orders was enough to stir panic in the Gallade and he attempted all of the above. First up was the Protect which formed a barrier so weak, it looked like a gentle breeze could shatter it. Quickly following that up was Teleport which, just like before, failed miserably as the pair ended up appearing a few steps backwards. It was when he tried Double Team that the Ominous Wind hit.

Adrastos managed to create one less than convincing image of himself, but it seemed to be just enough with the combination of Protect to go with it. While the original was several paces out of the Protective barrier, the clone happened to be running beside the trainer and so convinced Giratina that the original was the Double Team.

This ended well for Adrastos and, naturally, poorly for Yuki who found himself being lifted into the air and cut up quite nicely by the wind. “Adrastos!” The teen shouted as he tried burying his face with the backpack at hand while covering the spot he knew Aiko to be in. “Earthquake now!

Without a moment to lose, Adrastos allowed his psychic energy to flow dangerously through him and he slammed his hand against the ground to break through and cause shockwaves. It was more painful for him than for the ground because his hand hit the solid earth and proved to do nothing useful. Around that time, Giratina swiped at the Gallade with a Dragon Claw and slapped the smaller Pokemon into the air before slapping it again towards Yuki.

Yuki, however much he ached, appeared to be ready to catch his Pokemon as he had placed the backpack beside him. “Activate, Snagm,” the teen shouted as a ball appeared twirling into his hand. There was a bright light around the Pokeball until it was thrown at the approaching Adrastos.

Because Adrastos couldn’t seem to react fast enough, it didn’t register that Yuki was trying to capture him and not the Giratina, the ball struck the Blade Pokemon right on the forehead and a flash of five streaks of light appeared, then closed around Pokemon just as the ball did. As the light disappeared, the ball began to shake vigorously.

If it hadn’t been for Yuki’s snatching up the ball as he ran forward, backpack once more thrown onto his back, Adrastos probably would have been killed inside of the ball. Giratina had used another Earth Power just as the scientist reached for the ball and caused the boy to grimace as he was determined to not make a noise due to pain.

He stopped moving as the Earth Power attack ended and waited for Giratina to pause as it judged whether Yuki was dead or not. The moment the Renegade Pokemon started another DragonBreath, the trainer slammed his free hand against the uneven ground and shoved himself to his feet at a run.

As he ran, he threw the ball a few feet ahead of him to release Adrastos and watched as the Pokemon uncertainly looked around. “Another Psycho Cut to the ceiling- don’t fail me with Earthquake!” The Pokemon hurriedly gathered energy around and desperately attempted flinging more Psycho Cuts to the ceiling. Only three blades were released, but they seemed to be the final touches needed.

Large chunks of the ceiling started to rain down around the trainer and two Pokemon forcing even more chaos to erupt. Quite a few pieces pummeled Giratina, the Pokemon being too large to properly dodge most of the falling ceiling, caused the Pokemon to cry out angrily. At the same time, Yuki signaled Adrastos to start trying Earthquake and so the Gallade got to work.

Adrastos focused on the ground before him and repeatedly slammed his blade-like arms down. He winced as pain shot up in waves each time his hand made contact and he wavered as it almost became too much. With a shout ringing in his mind, he stomped down with his right foot and faltered as the floor shook uncontrollably.

Immediately after this, the floor produced cracks all starting from his position only for the ground to begin breaking up and crumbling. It was especially bad where Giratina was as the Pokemon started falling through the ground began thrashing about fearfully. Apparently this was enough for the Pokemon to realize this wasn’t somewhere it could stay.

The Renegade Pokemon opened its mouth wide and summoned quite a whirlwind which caught both its opponents as well as various bits of ceiling. Suddenly the whirlwind became distorting for a brief moment before revealing another place that appeared to be quite dark with platforms floating at many different angles. Just as this image appeared, Adrastos and Yuki were released from the whirlwind along with the rocks causing all of the above to freefall back to earth.

At the same time, Giratina pulled the portal- like whirlwind to itself and promptly disappeared into it leaving the trainer and partner alone in the falling apart cavern. As they fell, a few feet apart, they shared one look and just knew what had to be done from here.

So saying, Adrastos’s eyes shone an aqua- blue a moment before his body and Yuki’s body were outlined by the same color. They were hardly a foot away from crashing through the floor when Adrastos activated Teleport and, thankfully, it worked. This worked just as Yuki threw his arms before him and shut his eyes.

The result of this was their landing heavily onto soft grass and just lying there, startled Pokemon chattering or chirping frightfully and angrily as they fled the scene, unable to do much else. After some time, both pushed themselves up onto their elbows and looked at each other with wild looks in their eyes.

For a moment, they just laid there with their eyes locked, before the pair smirked at one another and dropped their heads to stare at the grass beneath them. Soon enough they were chuckling about what had just happened and, eventually, burst into hysterics. That had been a bit too crazy for both of them and this was the best they could.

When facing death, you’ve a choice to laugh or cry; we choose to laugh, huh?” Yuki managed as he slowly calmed down after a few minutes of laughing. Adrastos could only nod, clearly unwilling to try speaking, as Yuki smiled with obvious relief at his partner. A few hours passed as they stayed on the ground, Yuki having removed his backpack for the hundredth time that day, and they stared up at the sky.

It was quite an adventure, it certainly was, and the pluses from everything that had happened were quite apparent. They captured 12.24, they got stronger, and they met a legendary Pokemon that shouldn’t have even been in the world. The time spent had definitely been exciting and now was the time to relax. With this in mind, sighs escaped both Pokemon and trainer as they each shut their eyes.

By the way, I lost your Pokeball.
