Okay, what's with the notes today? A small slip of parchment was handed to Amy by a woman in a blue apron at the entrance to the building. Right on time, Amy arrived to grab a bite of breakfast inside with Xaviero, but now those plans were trashed. The woman frowned after handing off the note, and clicked her tongue sympathetically. "I'm sorry your father skipped out on you this morning," she said before retreating back through the double doors.

Amy sighed, tummy growling, only registering what the lady said after a few seconds. Wait, he wasn't her father. "Did you hear that, Xiena?" The Fire Fox looked confused at her trainer, wondering why her father would come all the way here for breakfast. Her trainer wasn't seriously about to spend time with him, was she? Being just as slow, it clicked then, a bubbly giggle coming from Xiena.

It was hard to read Xavi's handwriting, and compared to Yuki's, it was illegible. But, with years of having little kids bring papers to her, she was able to somewhat decode to note. Something about having an important task...had to leave right away...he's sorry...and that was about it.

Worry creeped in around her hunger, thinking of what task could be important enough to take away her teacher and source of money. Money bought food, food gave nourishment, which in turn gave her strength. She could feel her energy slowly leave her body just by thinking about it.

She then strolled along a worn path, wondering what to do about breakfast, and then was nudged by Xiena. To their right was a copse of berry bushes all clustered together as if awaiting hungry hands to pick them bare. That was what Amy was planning on doing.

Rummaging through her backpack, arms free since Skii wanted to stay in his Ball, the girl pulled out a few plastic baggies once containing cheese and crackers and began stuffing them with berries. "It'll be useful to have food on hand in the future," she reasoned to herself and Xiena, who was already chowing down straight off the branches.

Amy giggled. "You're gonna get full really fast if you keep up that speed. That will turn into a belly ache." Xiena wasn't too concerned about aches since she couldn't battle anyway, remembering her scolding back in Atra. It was to her advantage at the moment. Once the baggies were sealed and stored away, Amy popped berries into her own mouth with satisfying lip smacks. Sweet berries were her favourite!

It hadn't been long since he left Amy behind in that cabin early in the morning. Once Aiko and Cailan finally woke, he had started to move off the beaten path to find shade under a good tree. However instead of staying near the path, he had ended up a little deeper within because his short attention span led him into following around random butterflies.

Eventually Cailan, giving in to his hunger, started to prod insistently at Yuki's neck until the teen reluctantly turned his attention to the Joltik. When it peered up at him with its big, clear blue eyes, Yuki realized that he had strayed from the whole point of getting off the path.

As if to make up for his actions, the teen strode pointedly toward a particular tree, gently settled down the bag which Aiko was happily relaxing within, and the boy conjured up several Pokeballs to let out his current team. One by one, Surya, Sylvn, Chase, Adrastos, and Elina appeared in a flash of light.

Every Pokemon knew that it was either time to train or time to eat just by seeing the others so they all looked to Yuki expectantly. "This is Cailan, a Joltik." The Umbran announced as he gestured with a hand to the little electric bug on his shoulder; it tried to shrink into his jacket when all eyes turned to it. "He is what hatched from the second egg. Please take care of him just as well as you care for Aiko."

Surya was the first to react as he barked an eager greeting. The next was Adrastos who bowed respectively seconds before the the Joltik was Teleported off Yuki's shoulder and onto Chase's hand. As the much group of much larger Pokemon crowded around the Joltik, Yuki turned away disinterestedly to see Aiko roll out from the bag.

"Your little boy is frightened. You should go help it." The young scientist informed the Bagon making it blink up in dull curiosity before waddling over to the group of Pokemon to take care of business. While his decent-sized team socialized, the trainer himself wandered a ways away to see if he could snag some berries before having to dig into his PC for food.

He didn't wander far however, as a shriek from one of his Pokemon alerted him to trouble. Spinning around on his heel, the boy returned to the group in a matter of heartbeats only to realize that the terrified Joltik had accidentally shot out a few Pin Missiles in its fear. Because of this, Elina had sounded an outraged Screech as she prepared to strike.

If it wasn't for Chase being the fastest on the team, then Cailan very well might have been in trouble. As it was, the Alakazam had Teleported away from the group and unwittingly near an unsuspecting Vulpix. Unfortunately Chase failed to notice that he appeared near others as he was occupied trying to calm the now tearful Joltik.

"Cailan is a Timid thing, guys. Don't crowd him." Yuki scowled at the remainder of the team as they all looked away, most in embarrassment and one in indignation. Only Aiko seemed to be unconcerned about this as she started off in a direction in hunt of her beloved little spider.

Soon enough the entire group was following and they would eventually find Chase.

Tangy sweetness covered the whole inside of Amy's mouth. This was so delicious, she thought, until an Aspear was picked on accident. Her lips puckered at the sourness and quickly she nibbled on more Pecha to rid the taste. Tummy feeling full, she stopped gorging herself and smiled at her Vulpix, who was still busy munching to notice the attention.

Amy plucked a pair of sunglasses from atop her head to examine them. Her mind idly wandered to thinking these were just as special as his jacket, considering they were once owned by him. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary...unless you were supposed to wear them for something to happen.

She put on the glasses and nothing happened besides now everything was several shades darker. No wait, now it was getting brighter. Lenses fixed on just the right tint to both shield her eyes without having to squint and allow her to see clearly. Cool, they were one of those pricy opticals rich people owned so they wouldn't have to be uncomfortable under the Sun.

Yuki was a rich person? To be able to afford these, he had to be, but it was difficult picturing him as a snob after what she'd seen the other night. The memory dwelled in her mind for a few minutes, effectively spacing her out into her own little world.

A blinking dot from the glasses shook her from her reverie. Sunglasses weren't supposed to blink as far as she knew. Then again, it is an expensive item possibly equipped with several functions past her knowing. The light kept making her right eye twitch as it continued to be a mystery, and a nuisance. She thought of how to switch off such a function, but couldn't come up with anything but wait for it to go away.

Waiting got her nowhere, because now there were several dots moving from the bottom to meet the first, all blinking rapidly. It scared her a little, a gulp audibly made. Maybe if she looked around herself, she could fins some clues, yeah. Oh dear.

A whole team of Pokémon gathered right behind Amy too stand next to a thing holding two spoons. A thought in the very back of her mind wondered if was going to share pudding or yogurt with those spoons. "H-hello there," the brunette hesitantly greeted the Pokemon. What were they all here for? Just looking for their spoon friend, she hoped.

Chase, hearing the human's voice, turned his attention to the girl and quirked a brow at her greeting. The first thing he noticed was the glasses, and he recognized those to be his trainer's. Indignation at the girl's having it made the Alakazam grunt as his eyes began to glow a dark blue, the glasses being outlined by the same color.

In a matter of seconds the glasses were lifted off Amy's face via Psychic and positioned to hover beside the Psi Pokemon. At that moment, Cailan dared to open his eyes to see what it was that had bothered his big friend. Upon seeing it was that girl from the previous night, he squeaked in recognition and fear.

When Aiko heard the startled noise escape her beloved Joltik child, the Bagon let out a small growl as she popped out from a nearby bush and nearly tumbled into Chase. Luckily the Alakazam easily caught the young Dragon with a Psychic while chuckling. Lifting the Bagon into the air, he allowed the child to check on Cailan just as the other Pokemon appeared.

Each one noticed Amy, though none seemed alarmed or bothered about the human. Adrastos simply bowed his head slightly in greeting as Surya yipped excitedly before bounding forth to greet Amy and Elina crossed her arms impatiently at the sight. Of course the Puppy would be eager to play with a familiar person.

"You have no idea how hard it is to walk with you strangling me, Sylvn." Yuki hissed in complain as he stumbled around a tree a ways away with the Arbok/Sandslash mutant clinging to him happily. Its only reply was the flicker of its tongue licking his cheek. "Your spikes hurt. Get off."

Adrastos, the ever loyal Gallade/Carvanha mixed Pokemon, turned his attention expectantly to the group's trainer and tapped the Umbran's mind. When his trainer felt his unfamiliar emotions, the boy looked over indifferently. As soon as he had his master's attention, Adrastos nodded almost imperceptibly to Amy.

Yellow eyes slowly turned to see what it was that had his Pokemon's attention when he noticed Amy. Yuki stared blankly at the female trainer, taking note that his Growlithe was staring up hopefully at the girl, before nodding in greeting. Before he could bother himself to say anything, Chase touched his mind for attention before presenting the glasses and providing an image of the girl wearing it.

Without a word, Yuki held out his hand and the sunglasses settled into it. Peering at it as if inspecting it, he turned it over a few times before holding the sunglasses in front of him to peer through the lens to look back up at everyone. The several fading dotes revealed that the glasses had been in basic use not that long ago. "How do you like these? Confused?"

Amy flinched when the Alakazam looked down on her, eyes glinting a hue of blue. Was was it going to do with those glowing eyes? Then, the glasses lifted themselves from her nose, outlined in the same hue, and drifted over to Alakazam. "H-hey!" Amy said, reaching out for the item a little too late. "Give it back, it's mine!" How dare it just take her glasses like that? Could have at least asked first.

Where was Xiena's protectiveness when she needed it? Glancing to the side, no one was there. Well, there goes that plan, too, having Vulpix help her get the glasses back. All Amy cared about that the moment was making sure the gift was returned without a scratch. She was about the stand up, when a happy Growlithe bounded up to her with his fluffy tail wagging. This little guy was in a lot better mood compared to the rest of the group.

"Hey there," Amy greeted the Fire Puppy with a pat on the head. Oh what the heck, he was too cute to pass up! The girl scooped up the Growlithe and hugged him tight, thinking if Xiena wasn't going to help her, then this little ball of fuzz will do. Looking back to the group, something faintly clicked in the back of her mind.

There was a Growlithe, Sneasel, a Bagon, a frightened Joltik...hold on a second! That could only mean these were Yuki's Pokémon! Surya, Elina, Aiko, and...oh she never learned the Joltik's name yet. On a different note, how was it they were able to cross paths again so soon? Usually it took longer than that between encounters.

"Nice to see you again, Surya!" Amy may have sounded happy, but really she was anticipating something to happen to those glasses. Then again, if that was Yuki's Pokémon holding Yuki's glasses, nothing should happen. Maybe Alakazam was mistaken when she was seen with them, thinking she had stolen them. Then a thought returned to her concerning safety; what if his team was supposed to punish thieves?

Amy followed the red and blue creature's gaze off to the side, where something spiny and dark red had wrapped itself happily around its trainer. A single shiver ran down her spine at the sight of the mutant. She knew that thing wouldn't be hurting Yuki on purpose, but she still shivered nonetheless, trying to figure out exactly what it was.

The man received the spectacles from the Psychic type, looking over them once or twice, and tossed a question her way. Amy started scratching Surya's back while responding with, "I'm sorry for using them! I didn't really do anything but put them on and then things were blinking and then your team showed up and then...uh, I'm very confused," she finally concluded, burying her face in Surya's creamy white fur on his head.

Surya, upon being hugged, wagged his tail furiously in glee and even licked the human girl on the cheek in affection. It wasn't often that he was shown such love from a person, Yuki rarely bothered with such actions and could barely tolerate Sylvn's affection, so it was a nice gift when finally presented with affection.

When Amy revealed that she recognized him, Surya happily yipped in greeting before going quiet as he heard his trainer's arrival. There was a tense silence among the Pokemon as they waited to see what the Umbran would say and do. Given that Yuki gave no orders, the team dared to relax more.

Yuki listened intently to the other trainer's words as he motioned for Sylvn to get off. As the spiked Arbok unwound itself from him, the teen frowned at the condition of his clothes. Every single time that inane snake hugged him, he had to replace his clothes with a spare set and fix the ruined one sometime eventually.

"Don't be sorry," the male seventeen-year-old replied flatly as he silently approached his assistant's assistant. Squatting down before the scientist-in-training, Yuki waited for Amy to sneak a peek up at him before offering the sunglasses back. "These are yours to use; I wouldn't give them to you to not use."

The teen frowned thoughtfully as he stared intently at his glasses for a moment before plucking a twin pair of sunglasses out from his PC. "Don't confuse these glasses" here he pointed to each pair to emphasize his subject "with those that anyone else in the world wear.

"I built these. Those dots you noticed in the lens were meant to inform you that Pokemon were nearby. The blue dots are Pokemon that belong to you. White dots are other trainer-owned Pokemon, orange are wild Pokemon. There are more unusual functions, but I'll let you discover them as you use the glasses more.

Amy waited until she thought Yuki was looking elsewhere to lift her head, but now he was closer, at eye-level no less, making her jump. She could barely hear his footsteps even in all this grass and twigs. She squeezed the Fire Puppy from the shock, immediately apologizing with scratches and a softer hug. "Oh, I guess I could have figured that out," Amy shyly commented and accepted the sunglasses, placing them back to rest on the bridge of her nose.

White dots continued to blink within the lenses to show where Yuki's team stood, and then she realized she could find out where Xiena ran off to. To find her is to watch for a blue dot, so Amy looked around, finding it to suddenly appear directly in front of her. "What? It says she's right there." Her finger pointed forward, a Vulpix caught hiding behind Yuki with a disc-like object in her mouth.

"Xiena, what are you doing over there," Amy giggled, pushing her glasses up to see clearer and peered around Yuki. Oh, it was a cookie! "You stole that from my bag, didn't you? Those are not breakfast cookies." Vulpix shrank back some more and then there were nibbling sounds. What did she just say?

Amy sighed, but let it go. It was getting too difficult to keep her in line lately, and maybe the trip to the beach the other day wasn't the best idea during punishment. The girl was too soft to really punish someone, even if she knew it was for their own good. For instance Xiena; she seemed to be taking scoldings rather well by shrugging them off.

It was hopeless to think someone as defiant as Xiena could be changed into a loyal Fox by someone as unassertive as Amy. More off topic, Amy was again surprised by Yuki when he informed her of some functions, so she wouldn't be so confused with them. Then, he said she would have to figure out any other functions she happened to stumble upon. That will be fun, she thought to herself.

Surya, not minding the sudden squeeze, continued to wag his tail contently. He was going to enjoy every second of shared warmth given to him. Apparently that time was about to end however, as Elina made the motions of sharpening her claws, a habitual Hone Claw, and allowed the sound of something sharpening ring in the air.

Taking that as having wasted too much time, Surya growled weakly to Amy as if in apology before trying wiggle out of the girl's arms. Once freed, the Growlithe would pad over to the others, maw open in a toothy-canine grin, and tail not losing its speed. Not even the Sneasel's typical bad mood would keep him from enjoying his time.

As Cailan settled down on Aiko's head, squeaking to the Bagon about something, Adrastos and Chase shared a look. Why had their trainer given an item away? Yuki wasn't the "giving" sort as far as they could tell from the minimal memories they stole peeks of, and yet that female trainer seemed to be in permanent possession of sunglasses marked with Yuki's symbol.

That crown of thorny vines.

There was a keen sense of suspicion being shared between the two, both voicing quietly to each other their concerns of what game their human could possibly be playing, and if there was to be danger surrounding the female. The few things in Yuki's past they glimpsed suggested nothing was done truly on a whim when done by Yuki's hands.

Only Sylvn, taking Surya's behavior as a good sign, seemed genuinely oblivious to the idea that Yuki could have some dark motives for acting somewhat kind. The very fact that he had managed to hug the teen already put him in such great spirits that anything disappointing would fly right over his head.

With an eager hiss, the Arbok slithered over and moved toward the Vulpix, though he was really hoping to reach his trainer. Maybe the Pokemon would be able to even get a scratching behind a spike since the boy seemed to be in high spirits. It was worth a shot.

"Xiena is as unruly as ever." Yuki commented dryly as he returned to his feet abruptly and spun around so quickly, it startled Sylvn into freezing in place, as if caught in a guilty act. "What now, Sylvn?" The Pokemon's tongue flickered sheepishly, both knowing exactly what it wanted, causing the trainer to rub his temple with a forefinger and thumb. "Definitely not."

Amy just sat there with a shy smile in her lips. It wasn't very good at all to hear someone like Yuki confirm her Pokémon's "unruly" behaviour. Wait, why did it mean so much to hear it from him, when plenty of others have snickered about the same thing? Did he have some sort of dominance?...er what was it called. Ah, she'd think of it later.

Hands squeezed nothing but air since Surya had padded away back to his party in obedience. Oh how she would love to see Xiena perform such a trick. A single call, or even a snap of her fingers, and the Fox would bound happily towards Amy. All but distant dreaming in this day and age. Maybe if Amy were to develop more as a trainer, her team would come to respect her properly, and even obey her every command. What a day that will be.

She glanced up at the spiny Snake slithering towards Xiena in hopes of reaching its own trainer. The Snake was a little intimidating, but knowing who exactly it belonged to and obeyed, she didn't freak out as much. She still flinched upon watching it slide closer in her direction, then it stopped when Yuki spun around. It was funny seeing it freeze in place guiltily at its trainer's words.

Couldn't hurt being more assertive with her wants..."Mind if I get closer?" Amy asked Yuki, without much of a pause for a response. She stepped past the male and approached Arbok with an outstretched hand. The hand shook only slightly because not all fear of an unknown creature was absent, also showing in her eyes. At any moment it could lash out and snatch her arm clean off, her being completely incapable of reacting quick enough.

Amy stood beside the Arbok, her hand gently resting on one spike, feeling it's gritty and smooth surfaces, then its miscoloured skin. It wasn't all bad. At least her arm was still attached. "What kind of a creature is it?"

Yuki shrugged in response to Amy's question, not worried about the girl being in any danger. It was Sylvn being approached after all, not Elina. So the Umbran watched, arms crossed, as the Arbok's gaze flickered between him and Amy. When the girl reached out to touch Sylvn, Yuki nodded once ever so slightly as permission for the Pokemon do as it pleased.

Sylvn, noticing the nod, flicked his tongue out in excitement. Maybe this person would treat him as well as Surya had been treated! It didn't register that Amy might have been a little frightened because of him, the girl was closing the gap between herself and Sylvn after all, and so the Pokemon even leaned closer as if to finish off the remaining space.

Much to his pleasure, Amy reached him. Tail wagging the way he observed Surya's tail to wag often, Sylvn shut his eyes happily and allowed his tongue to flicker again. When the girl inquired about what he was, the Arbok/Sandslash mix opened an eye just a peek and peered at his trainer.

"This is Sylvn. He is an Arbok whose genetic coding is mixed with that of a Sandslash. I met him when he was just an Ekans infused with Sandslash genes and he's been stuck to my side ever since."

The scientist replied disinterestedly as he strode past the two and approached the remainder of his team. Each Pokemon, save Aiko and Cailan, peered to him expectantly and he stopped to critically observe the group. "Hungry?" Each Pokemon nodded and waited as the trainer plucked random foods out from his PC.

Soon each Pokemon had their own share of food, all but Sylvn for the Pokemon was still with Amy, and Yuki returned the remaining foods back to his PC before glancing down at Cailan. "Still need to find your favorite food." He muttered to himself, watching as the Joltik contently ate what Aiko shared with him.

As if remembering about Amy being with Sylvn, the teen turned thoughtfully back to the pair. "Not with Xaviero?"

"Sylvyn," Amy repeated, wanting to remember the name. An Ekans and Sandshrew? How would someone be able to do such a thing to two poor Pokémon, and then give him away like that? Scientists were known to her for working with chemicals and medicine, so maybe that's where he got it from. A laboratory filled with all sorts of mutations, just waiting to be given a home, that image flashed in her uneducated mind's eye. Just like a shelter.

She continued moving her hand between rugged spikes and over dark skin, enjoying the petting as much as Sylvyn did. She giggled when his tail wagged like Surya's had, using her other hand to scratch under his chin, cooing, "Who's a good Snaky? You're a good Snaky." She possibly enjoyed giving him attention a little too much because Xiena puffed up her chest and strode over to her trainer.

Vulpix beat her head against Amy's calf in demand for attention. How dare that thing steal her human from right under her nose and not so much as apologize for such rudeness. She puffed out her cheeks in irritation when the girl paid no heed to her actions. So, she tried again, only this time pouncing on Sylvyn's head as a distraction. One paw slipped a bit and a spike poked in her armpit, making her yip, but it didn't really hurt. It had surprised her and it barely touched.

"Oh, are you getting jealous, Xiena," Amy teased, moving around the Fox knowing the plan all along. "Why am I supposed to praise you when all you do is ignore me and steal food? Go ask Yuki if you want a scratch so badly." It pained her to say it so straight-forward, however it was the only way to assert her dominance as trainer. Rules were rules.

Xiena huffed sadly and hopped off the Snake, headed towards the male with the food. Maybe he could toss her a snack even though she had eaten breakfast not five minutes ago.

Amy stiffened for a second, a swift wave of anomie overtaking her, before returning to vigorously scratch at the Arbok. "Nah," she brushed off in response. "He more important things to do, so I wandered over here looking for breakfast. I really need to earn some money," she added as and afterthought. If that ever happened, she'd get to pay for her own meal. "You mind if I feed Sylvyn some berries for you?"

Sylvn, hearing that he was a good snake, hissed in delight at the praise and thumped his tail against the ground vigorously. If this friend of his trainer's said he was good, then surely that was fact then? And if Amy believed it, then Yuki certainly did as well! This thought, though not far from the fact of things concerning Yuki's thoughts, greatly pleased Sylvn as well.

Then the fox leapt up attacking his face. Greatly startled at the sudden appearance of the Vulpix, Sylvn nearly slammed his head against the ground to curl up into a ball when he heard Yuki's warning snaps of the finger. The warning was to stay still and so the snake froze in place to let Amy's Pokemon land on him.

When Xiena yelped, Sylvn hissed an automatic apology though he didn't move from his position. It was a great relief for the Vulpix to hop off of him though he couldn't imagine Yuki showing much affection for the fox. Still, Xiena strode off to meet the male trainer so Sylvn turned his head to watch his master's reaction. To his surprise, Yuki paid attention.

Yuki glanced down as Xiena padded over and stared absently for a moment before squatting down and conjuring up a few berries: A spicy, sweet, sour, and a bitter berry. Waiting for the Vulpix to reach him, he stretched out the hand holding the berries while also reaching to give the Pokemon a scratch behind the ears.

"More important things? No, he puts you above everything else." The Umbran replied distractedly as he mulled ideas around in mind; "he may be preparing something for you." As he continued to think up ideas and cross out others, the teen shrugged his shoulders. "A trainer makes money through battling other trainers... Feel free to feed Sylvn."

The boy then quieted as he stared intently at his snake which made the Pokemon blink a few times in curiosity. Turning his head to peer at the other members of his team, he took absent note that Adrastos and Chase were once again discussing something that seemed to bother them. Knowing that it more than likely had something to do with him, the trainer ignored the pair.

"You are... assistant to my assistant." He spoke slowly as if trying to find the right words. "This indirectly makes you my assistant... you are indirectly an employee of mine." Almost as if he was unsure about this, the teen placed the berries down and removed himself from Xiena. Now he strode over to Amy and Sylvn making the Pokemon peer up at him eagerly.

Stopping short of reaching the two, Yuki then pulled out a wallet from his PC and checked to see what he had within it. "You don't have money because I haven't given you a paycheck... or an allowance if I consider you as an intern. How much does an intern make...?" The scientist frowned thoughtfully as he tried to make a decision. Shrugging, he then turned his attention to Amy and seriously asked "Is ten thousand enough for a first paycheck?"

Humph! She didn't need her trainer for some deserved attention. She could go anywhere else and someone will always give her what she wants. Like now, this man scratched her second favourite spot behind her ear and even held out some berries! So giving...maybe if Amy hung out with this guy more often, Xiena could get pets whenever she wanted! That sounded like a good plan.

She nibbled on each of the four berries dropped in front of her drooling maw. Bitter wasn't too bad...except for the after-taste! She quickly licked up a Spicy one and her entire mouth tingled with its juices. Utterly delighted at the amazing taste, she purred to herself, not caring Yuki had walked past her. What is this one? Her small pink tongue stole an equally pink berry from the ground, chewing carefully. Not too bad, but not particularly good either. She stuck her tongue out in disapproval, and then snarfed the last one.

Back to Sylvyn, Amy smiled at Yuki's permission for feeding, also in the middle of a thought about the words prior. She pulled a small bag of the ones she picked and proceeded to hold a few out nestled in her palm. Most of them were Oran berries, not that the girl knew the significance of the information, with a handful of Pecha strewn within the baggie.

"Eat up, Sylvyn," Amy kindly offered, stroking a spike with the other hand after returning the bag to her pocket. She half-turned to Yuki's direction in thought. Was Xavi really just preparing for something involving her? Nonsense, why would he do that when he most likely has better things to worry about? Yuki spoke some more, making her blink twice. Assistant of assistant? So, Yuki overruled Xavi, and he to her? But, Xavi is older, so that should mean he's the boss of Yuki. She shook her head from the thought chain, not wanting to become dizzy.

Amy turned more around curiously. "Employee? Intern money?" None of this was properly registering into her brain. Then, the man pulled out a wallet and hold out an unidentifiable amount of cash. She was about to ask what he was doing until he announced it himself. "W-what?" she gasped at the number, waving a hand in decline. "I-I can't accept money when I haven't really done anything! And besides, that is a whole lot. Don't you need it for yourself?" Was this guy going crazy handing out cash like this?

It lightened her mood just a tad bit when Xiena sat next to her again, lips puckered with the sourness of the last Sitrus berry. Amy almost broke out in a giggle, but her mood remained strong towards the way too-generous offer of money.

Sylvn's eyes lit up as best they could despite the dark coloring. The girl was even offering her berries! Immediately his tongue flickered out and snatched an Oran Berry out of the girl's hand. The berry wasn't his favorite, but he certainly wasn't about to complain! This was probably one of the best days he's had in the presence of a human that wasn't his master!

Meanwhile, Yuki tilted his head to the side a bit, eyes widening ever so slightly as an almost childish light crept into view, as he considered Amy's words. "You are under the instruction of my employee, Xaviero. He works for me so I have to pay him..." The boy trailed off as he subconsciously started to drifted into an accent that almost made his words sound like a song.

"You are his responsibility so I have to form a paycheck accordingly to the needs of the pair of you..." He paused, rubbing a thumb against the worn out wallet, and shrugged. When he next spoke, the accent disappeared as if it had never existed. "You need money so think of it as my helping out."

The Umbran then shrugged, seemingly unsatisfied with his final word choice, before plucking out some money. "I don't need much money." Yuki replied nonchalantly as he snapped the wallet closed and returned it to his PC. He would get Amy to accept the money before they separated because it was certainly not going back into his wallet.

The scientist then held out the wad of money to Amy, willing her to accept it all, and took a moment to form the right words. "Five-thousand then as a starting amount. I swear to you that I have no use for any currency." As he announced this, he watched Amy's eyes to possibly hold eye contact; the trainer was quite serious.

A bit away, Adrastos and Chase glanced warily to one another. Their master certainly was not like himself of the past for the boy was definitely getting close to humans. Both were aware that there was no ulterior motives behind Yuki's persistent offer. The psychic Pokemon held a mutual conversation for a brief moment before deciding that time was wasting.

They strode forward, standing on either side of their trainer, and patiently waited to be acknowledged. Further behind, Elina and Surya held their attention on Aiko and Cailan as the Bagon allowed the Joltik to crawl down onto her stubby arm. The Sneasel muttered somethings about teaching the bug to fight and defend itself only to be admonished jokingly by Surya.

Aiko agreed with her entire being with Surya as Cailan hopped from the arm to Elina and crawled over the Sneasel. At his new perch, the Joltik watched the two trainers and the many Pokemon surrounding them. What was going on over there? The sight scared him a bit, but he knew there was nothing to worry about for the girl was familiar and the boy was his father. Mother Aiko convinced him of this.

Yuki in charge of Xaviero in charge of Amy. Technically she was under the care of Yuki as well, but why bother? Sure, the chain was like a boss, a manager, and a recruit, yet the boss wasn't obligated to care much for the recruit. It all confused Amy a little with how much she seemed to play a part in the two's priority list. She was supposed to be taking care of herself out here, not accepting large amounts of money for no reason or being taught by experienced people without some sort of fee.

"I can get money myself," she objected quietly. All she would have to do is find a trainer to bet against, with the few coins she owned, and earn some more by winning. Sounded like the Pits. No, it's how the system works is all. "What if you need it in a pinch and realize you don't have it anymore?" she pushed some more.

He was certainly one for manipulating things to go his way because once they locked eyes for that moment, she knew she'd been defeated. Amy removed the wad from his grasp tentatively, switching her gaze to it instead of Yuki. At least he halved the amount, making her feel slightly better about taking it.

"What is it you do exactly?" she finally asked after a long while of pondering. She'd guess some sort of observational job, what with the traveling, but then thought again to the odd coat her mentor wore. Not many people carried around big white coats like that, nor had a tag in the front displaying their name. Not really suspicious, just weird someone would wear it. Oh, duh, the Professor she met her first day wore that, too! "Are you, like, Professors or something?"

Xiena scooted towards Surya and his gang, wanting to greet each of them as her lips unpuckered. "Vul!" she yipped happily to them, tails brushing against the ground.

A small smile reached the teen's lips though there was no warmth apparent in his eyes. "I know you can," he confirmed while waving the matter off with a hand. "You'll just start off with five-thousand dollars is all." As the money was taken from his hand, Yuki shrugged his shoulders; the consequences of being without money never concerned him.

"If I'm in a pinch and without the five-thousand I've given to you, then I will pull out my wallet and use another five-thousand. It's as simple as that." Many instances of where he was in dire need to use money flashed through his mind allowing his two psychic Pokemon to watch. Both turned their heads to look at the trainer, amusement evident in the looks they gave the boy, and they crossed their arms.

In those times of need, Yuki never paid.

When the trainer was asked what exactly he did, both Pokemon pulled away a bit from the boy's mind swiftly and Adrastos's horn turned into a darker yellow for an instant. Yuki's demeanor didn't appear to change however as he pulled himself into a carefully made mold of his usual disinterested attitude. There was a light throbbing against the teen's head as a headache suddenly made a threat.

Yuki then ran a hand through his hair, his left hand trailing through his dark brown hair in a matter that only Kuzumi would have registered as reluctance, and the Umbran eventually let out a sigh. "I'm not an official professor." He admitted almost sheepishly. This was not a topic he wanted to find himself in. "I have been running away from that responsibility for years now." Deciding that bit of information was done and deserved no other explanation, the boy pressed on smoothly.

"During my run however, I've indulged myself with the delights of the different yet similar sciences of various regions. In Johto Xaviero came to recognize my specialized gift for technology and I came to recognize him for his general gift of science. We're not professors; we're just scientists."

Almost as if he was conscious about the missing lab coat for the first time, Yuki tugged at a corner of his black jacket and smiled thinly. "I prefer my clothes over the traditional look. Slip by others easier like this."

A bark of greeting escaped Surya as the Puppy happily made room for his Vulpix friend to join the clustered group. As Xiena gave her greetings, Elina looked the Vulpix up and down and grinned wickedly while making a passing comment to avoid the sour and dry berries.

Aiko nodded respectfully at the fox before returning her attention to Cailan who was still watching the other group. The Bagon flapped her arms a bit, almost wistfully in hopes of flight, as she wavered a bit to see what it was that held her Joltik's attention.

He could really do that, just pull out another wad of cash? To be in the presence of someone so rich was somewhat intimidating. She didn't know why, only now it felt as though her share was like a single dollar to him. Almost treasuring the "paycheck," she proceeded to safely tuck it away into the depths of her clip wallet.

The glowing of the other mutant's horn put her on guard, never having seen something like that happen. She held onto Sylvyn for protection automatically, hoping the colourful thing wouldn't attack her in any way. No worries, because Yuki was there to stop it if he needed to. Like he said before, he was her guardian. Nothing to be scared of when he's around.

On the cue of the horn glowing, the sunglasses flashed twice inside the lenses and a bar dropped down with inscriptions. A small three-demensional figurine rotated clock-wise beside the window. Inscriptions enlarged themselves for Amy's better viewing and displayed a description of the creature in front of her.

It freaked her out to watch the head-gear operate on its own accord. She peered through them to read the window: Gallade Carvanha; Psychic Fighting; Owned To YUKI. Neato! But what was a Gallade Carvanha? Oh, those must be what it is, made of two different Pokémon just like Sylvyn was an Arbok and Sandslash at the same time.

Ignoring the glasses and pay attention to Yuki, Amy rested them on top of her head away from her eyes. She could look into them at a later date. So, he was kind of a Professor, except not in title. She was close. When he was finished speaking, she commented with, "You look fine in those clothes. I can't really imagine you in a long white lab coat anyway."

It was nice, once again, to listen to Yuki talk about himself. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew it bugged him to do so, but it didn't stop her from prodding around a filing cabinet full of questions and throwing a folder in his face. It was a quirk she needed to become aware of soon lest it get her into trouble someday.

"Scientists," she repeated. "You make medicines? Mom used to say something about evil things scientists do, but I'm sure those were just meant to be spooky bedtime stories. I doubt you guys do "evil" things in your "secret labs," she giggled. "Nope. You are far from what I'd expect to be evil."

Amy swiveled around to give more scratchings to the Snake hybrid, adding, "I mean, come on, this guy is too sweet."

Because Amy reacted fearfully toward Adrastos's accidental reflex, Yuki turned his attention to the two psychic Pokemon and waited for either to express a thought. First was Adrastos in giving the trainer the impression that it was confused. The next was Chase as the Alakazam flashed an image of another child Yuki was familiar with.

The Umbran frowned, unwilling to address either concern of his Pokemon. A brisk shake of the head warned both psychics to drop their concerns for now and so each bowed respectfully before Teleporting back to the side of the other Pokemon. Yuki then considered Amy's comment about how he looked.

As long as he appeared decent enough despite wearing the fact that people wouldn't normally wear black clothing during spring or summer times, the trainer was rather indifferent about his looks. Thinking back to the few times he had actually worn his lab coat, fitted and designed by himself naturally, the scientist felt himself shrug.

"Lab coats aren't my style." He commented quietly as the female trainer went on to talk about what scientists did. An ironic smile graced his lips while Amy's back was turned; him? Evil? "I've dabbled with medicines and, in doing so, have come up with ways to cure inconsequential problems with the utmost efficiency. I do prefer technology however."

Then he considered Sylvn as the mutant Arbok smiled happily though it might have come off unintentionally intimidating. Still, Yuki knew that the Pokemon was genuinely pleased with the good impression it made on the girl. "I don't believe in evil." He announced dismissively as the snake slithered over to his side.

The Pokemon peered up at him contently before wrapping itself around him in its usual hug. Yuki winced as some spikes dug into his clothes and he swore he could hear fabric tearing. "I didn't create Sylvn, but I agree that he is a good Pokemon. A good Pokemon that will be the reason why someday I will have nothing but torn clothes." For sure he knew that the Pokemon of his team had heard this and all but Aiko and Cailan laughed at his comment.

Amy watched as Sylvn slithered back to his trainer, hearing what she thought was ripping noises. "I-is he allowed to do that?" she asked, a hint of strain in her voice. Precious clothes were being carelessly torn up and it’s like he didn’t much care about it. According to what he said earlier, maybe he was just going to buy more clothes with his hidden finances.

Keeping her mind from that subject, she switched to what her plans for the day would be. She could hang out with Yuki like they did yesterday. Or better yet, they could do stuff; walk in the park, go see a movie, grab lunch later, train if he was up for it. Unless, he was the kind of person to just sit around and talk. For some reason, that didn’t strike her as an option, talking, because of what she recalled.

He didn’t particularly like all the questions thrown at him. Neither did he really want company. Probably felt uncomfortable with realizing she was even at the beach at the same time; the whole point of relaxing there crashing into tiny fragments. She convinced herself of this.

“Now that I think about it, I should really be going,” Amy said, clasping her hands together. She wouldn’t want him to feel uncomfortable again, even though he’d already answered her questions. “I’m sure you have better things to do, as I should be. C’mon, let’s go, Xiena.”

The Fire Fox huffed again, wanting to stay a little longer. Fussy, she flicked her tails and stuck her tongue out at her trainer in defiance. She wanted to stay. Amy gasped then frowned. This kind of behavior was not about to be tolerated, it will be dealt with immediately.

She crossed her arms, ready to give an angry order to come here…but she couldn’t do it. “Xiena just come one, please,” she pleaded. “I don’t want you bothering him and I’m certainly not leaving you here.” Xiena responded by rubbing her cheek against Yuki’s leg. What was to be done about that, Amy didn’t know. So, she sighed.

Yuki revealed a tight smile at Amy's question about the tearing. "No, actually." He admitted in a carefully indifferent tone; it took all he could muster to keep himself from admonishing his Pokemon at this point. "He's not even supposed to touch me, but he loves hugs."

Finally Sylvn slithered off, grinning sheepishly at the damage caused before being flicked on the head by Yuki. "Join the others." The Umbran ordered gently to which the Pokemon licked his hand with its forked tongue before turning away to join the rest of the team.

Now that it was just Amy, Xiena and himself, the boy returned his full attention to the female trainer. It seemed that she wanted to part ways already, not that Yuki would complain if the girl had business to attend to, but of course the Vulpix had plans of its own.

At his foot was the Fire Fox rubbing against his pants leg making him peer down to see what the Vulpix wanted. Seeing as how it just wanted to stick around longer, the boy then thought back to Amy's previous comments. "At this point, the most important thing on my agenda is sewing my clothes."

He lifted his arms to take a better look at the tears all over his clothes before frowning thoughtfully. "I only have so much material left and it isn't easy making the material either." At this point he was just thinking aloud like he often did around Xaviero. To be doing this around Amy put the girl on par with Xaviero: Yuki was comfortable enough with the girl to have his thoughts be heard.

As if only remembering that Amy was still there, Yuki lifted his gaze to meet Amy's and quirked a brow. "Do you have any idea how long it takes to make clothes by hand?" It was an earnest question and was following by: "Plus sewing the technology into the clothes is a real pain as well; it's hard enough just building the equipment."
