Okay, what's with the notes today? A small slip of parchment was handed to Amy by a woman in a blue apron at the entrance to the building. Right on time, Amy arrived to grab a bite of breakfast inside with Xaviero, but now those plans were trashed. The woman frowned after handing off the note, and clicked her tongue sympathetically. "I'm sorry your father skipped out on you this morning," she said before retreating back through the double doors. Amy sighed, tummy growling, only registering what the lady said after a few seconds. Wait, he wasn't her father. "Did you hear that, Xiena?" The Fire Fox looked confused at her trainer, wondering why her father would come all the way here for breakfast. Her trainer wasn't seriously about to spend time with him, was she? Being just as slow, it clicked then, a bubbly giggle coming from Xiena. It was hard to read Xavi's handwriting, and compared to Yuki's, it was illegible. But, with years of having little kids bring papers to her, she was able to somewhat decode to note. Something about having an important task...had to leave right away...he's sorry...and that was about it. Worry creeped in around her hunger, thinking of what task could be important enough to take away her teacher and source of money. Money bought food, food gave nourishment, which in turn gave her strength. She could feel her energy slowly leave her body just by thinking about it. She then strolled along a worn path, wondering what to do about breakfast, and then was nudged by Xiena. To their right was a copse of berry bushes all clustered together as if awaiting hungry hands to pick them bare. That was what Amy was planning on doing. Rummaging through her backpack, arms free since Skii wanted to stay in his Ball, the girl pulled out a few plastic baggies once containing cheese and crackers and began stuffing them with berries. "It'll be useful to have food on hand in the future," she reasoned to herself and Xiena, who was already chowing down straight off the branches. Amy giggled. "You're gonna get full really fast if you keep up that speed. That will turn into a belly ache." Xiena wasn't too concerned about aches since she couldn't battle anyway, remembering her scolding back in Atra. It was to her advantage at the moment. Once the baggies were sealed and stored away, Amy popped berries into her own mouth with satisfying lip smacks. Sweet berries were her favourite! |

Amy tried to hold in her giggle, but couldn't quite do it. It's not like it was funny for Yuki to think aloud, assuming that's what he was doing, but the simple fact of doing it made her giggle. He wasn't so stiff anymore around her, like she had passingly noticed at their first encounter, and she to him. Their friendship was definitely showing growth and trust. It brought a small tear to her mind's eye. She cringed as Yuki examined his sleeves. All those rips and holes made her fingers itch to patch them up. Remembering back to when she and her mother used to sew up Colby's singed, torn, frayed, or all of the above shirts and pants, she wished her special kit was with her. Well...knowing her mom... Snatching her pack, one hand rummaged around, but emerged empty. Dang, just when she needed it, too..oh there it is. Amy unzipped the mesh side pocket to reveal the small sewing kit with a sticky note tagged on the lid. Of course Mother thought it would come in handy someday. About now. "I guess I have this if you need it right now," she offered, holding up the box for him too see and slinging her pack over her shoulder. "That is, if you care to take the time. I'm a little OCD when it comes to strips of fabric flapping around, but it's all up to you." She should be angry because of Xiena, though honestly, it didn't seem like the time to be. Speaking of which, Xiena wagged her tails in triumph. |

Yuki carefully took the offered sewing kit and opened it to see what was inside. He peered critically at the materials within before glancing up at Amy. "Thank you. It won't take much time now that I don't have to run to my nearest lab to find the right equipment." As he talked, he squatted down and placed the kit onto the ground so he could pull off his jacket. Yuki hesitated when it came to sliding his right arm out of its sleeve only to shrug it off anyway and hold it out before him to take a closer look at where all the punctures were. To his amazement and relief, none of the holes were near wires. Plucking sewing fabric from his PC and snatching a needle from the kit, Yuki swiftly prepared to begin the repairing of his jacket before pausing. "This probably isn't the time and place to do this..." The teen muttered almost sheepishly before turning his attention to the first hole. In quick, fluid movements, he had sewn up the hole; the material blended in almost perfectly so that it appeared as if it hadn't been damaged in the first place. "Can you tell that there was a hole here upon first glance?" Yuki inquired as he held out the sleeve to show his patchwork. "If you look closer, you'll notice that I've done much patchwork to this jacket." And it was true, too. The jacket he practically grew up with and so, if a person was to lean in for inspection, it would be revealed that most of the jacket was made up of patches. The sleeves had been lengthened to match Yuki's current arm length, the bottom of the jacket also elongated so that it didn't appear short. Across the shoulders there were patches to make up for Yuki's broadened shoulders; yet none were that noticeable unless specifically sought for. The boy returned to work, sewing with absolute precision as if he had been doing this all his life, and worked fast. "I don't want to waste time." He mumbled as his hands continued to move nimbly. |

"Wow," Amy breathed, taking a closer look as asked. She'd squatted next to him, tracing tiny lines of stitching in awe. "You must have a lot of time on your hands, or you're very talented. Both even." Standing back up, she brushed off some dirt from her knees and smiled. Xiena watched as the man worked swiftly on the jacket, maneuvering the thing needle like a pro. Even like her trainer back when she used to do that stuff at home on weekends. A grin flashed across her face at a thought of Yuki being a girl, then it occurred it would give her tons of time with him/her. Amy loved to stick close to other girls, so if this guy was so, it would fit perfectly. The Fox rolled over to innocently paw at a loose strip like a cat, mewling to add to her cuteness factor. Oh! Maybe he has some more treats to feed her if she begs cutely enough! Big amber eyes blinked up at Yuki, silently begging for food. "We do need to be on our way, though. Not that I don't like hanging with you, but, I should be taking time to train for myself." She stooped quickly to snatch Xiena from her playmate and held her with one arm. The other extended for a hopeful handshake, not quite trusting for any closer physical contact. Friendship needed a little more time for that happen. |

Finishing with his jacket, Yuki removed his fabric from the needle and replaced the needle into the kit. "Far from talented," he replied instantly, almost indignantly, and returned the fabric to his PC before returning to his feet and patting himself down to remove clinging dirt. "I only ever have a lot of time on my hands when I'm vacationing like this. During this time I tend to wander around, get lost, and use the time being lost as a blessing to work on other things." Plucking the sewing kit off the ground and dusting it off, the teen turned his attention to Amy only to notice the offered hand. The boy peered at it for a moment before gingerly placing the kit in the outstretched hand instead of shaking. Looking up at the girl, Yuki nodded in understanding. "If you're going to train, I suggest battling small- to -medium-sized Pokemon until you evolve one or two of your Pokemon." As he advised this, the boy snapped his fingers which caused his entire team to surge forward as one; only stopping just a few feet behind. "Good luck with training. Perhaps you could use treats as a means to get your team to battle properly? For every battle they successfully won while taking orders, they get a treat or something." Yuki then turned his attention to his gathered Pokemon and frowned for a moment. Running a hand through his hair, the boy decided that they would eat later and so started to recall each Pokemon back into their respectful Pokeballs. Soon enough only Aiko and Cailan remained with the Bagon reaching hopefully up at him to be picked up. Easily swayed by the demands of his Pokemon, Yuki scooped up the Bagon and even tossed it into the air the way a parent would toss a child. The Bagon spread its arms as if prepared to fly and dropped back into Yuki's arms to be pulled to his chest; Aiko sighed dreamily at the feel of free-fall and snuggling close to the trainer. Spinning back around on his heel, careful not to send his Joltik flying since it was on his shoulder and crawling around, Yuki faced Amy's direction with a neutral expression. The reason for being on this particular path seemed to have escaped him during his time with Amy. |

Amy didn't respond vocally to his replies, nor did she feel grateful for the return of her sewing supplies. He didn't accept her handshake like she thought he would, instead handing back her item as if it were worth more than a touch. Maybe he was thinking of her, she tried convincing herself before sounding bad. He must know how she reacts to boys and was respecting her space. Still, she felt a little empty for a second, then recovered with his advice. Small and medium-sized Pokémon. That should be good for training her learning team, which she still labeled as inexperienced. Except for Xiena and possibly Skii, due to them having fought hard in a few battles already. Now that she thought more about it, Teru hadn't even been sent out before. She needed to change this fact. The girl stashed her kit back into the side mesh pocket, with only a bit of a struggle with Xiena wriggling to escape, and gave up holding her. She dismissed the attitude, knowing the training session going to occur later should open her eyes to see they both needed to work together in harmony. Being separated like this was never going to win them any trainer battles. Evolution was something she pushed aside for later, only wanting to focus on getting her whole team to obey her properly and really working as a team. Not individuals grouped up without coordination. She blinked at the simultaneous actions of Yuki's team, how they all stepped forward on the cue of a finger snap. Jealousy creeped in for a moment, just as fast vanishing as she knew her team required more training. Someday, perhaps they, too, would be able to compare to Yuki's team. Yeah...someday. Amy smiled at Yuki and Aiko's display of affection. It was a cute scene, Aiko almost flying at the playful toss. She wanted to stay longer, seeing Bagon so cuddly, but she really did have to do this on her own for once while she had the chance. "So, I guess I'll see you around some other time," she bade, hesitantly turning to walk down the dirt path. One hand lifted shyly as she turned for a wave, the hand left unshaken. |
