O amor é o maior evento da vida; a única coisa pela qual vale a pena viver

Amy Delani was supposed to be in the middle of a training session with her mentor, Xaviero. With work being work, he left on short notice, leaving his student to get thing started on her own. She understood perfectly well they could hang around every minute of every day. A person is allowed to have his or her personal duties in which that person must take a break, or take leave. Now, with Amy lacking a proper teacher, she could focus more on the aspects of communication. Suppose she could seek out Yuki once more and do some traveling, but honestly he needed his alone time, too. She didn’t want to burden him with her presence too often lest he become sick of her and start evading each time. Plus, this will be an excellent opportunity to learn to fend for herself. From what she was taught before, life wasn’t going to hold her hand from beginning to end; one who is strong succeeds in higher honour. She remembered back to when she and Xavi ran into Ghosts in Illusion Forest, while holding a polished Poke’Ball in her hands, courtesy of Skii’s cleanliness. It was about time to be training her Shuppet for once and bonding with her. No longer were Ghosts going to frighten Amy as long as she gets to know her own, learning how Teru acts, reacts, if she listens to her trainer, what food she eats, and so on. Like getting to know a new friend, she compared with a light blush, which was pretty much what was going to happen. Hopefully. Amy called her mother earlier to check up on everything. An update, you might say. Her mother teased her about how the Poke’mon and children missed her helpfulness at the DayCare Center. Losing track of time was one of Amy’s growing habits, so when she was asked of her attire, she sounded confused. Oh, of course! October thirty-first! Halloween was today and it has completely slipped Amy’s mind. The day where people of all ages dress up in silly and spooky costumes to, apparently, ward off evil spirits. But, the event itself had transformed into more of a game; going door-to-door along your neighborhood asking for candy. There was once a time when her family went trick-or-treating together and stayed up late to watch scary movies with a huge bowl of chocolates and popcorn. Ah, those were days of leisure. Now, being in a completely different Region, it was tough to spend the day eating junk food with her fam—her mother. She missed the cat, too, ad how she used to toss M&M’s into Glameow’s mouth from across the living room. That was back at the old Verdanturf house. In Cerulean, she and Glameow would run around in the spacious basement before heading outside to play at the DayCare, setting up small parties for children and Poke’mon alike. When Xiena arrived, bobbing for apples became a booming event, all thanks to her voracious appetite for attention and food. She certainly was the life of the parties. Amy snapped herself out of reverie, know she would wind up walking directly into a tree or tripping over her own feet otherwise. And she was right for once, doing a half-spin in order to dodge a rather large tree. Stopping on the other side of it, she admired the abundance of colour displayed, and how bright it looked compared to all the others around. As though it were misplaced in the wrong copse, she supposed. Yellow, being her favourite colour, stood out amongst the rest of the leaves, drawing her attention to one big clump of fluorescent yellow leaves. She stared into the clump for what seemed like ages, only coming to when the Ball in her hands wriggled in anxiety. Smiling, the purple Ghost type was released to float lazily to her trainer’s shoulder. Her head rested on it for about three seconds, then she drifted up into the out-of-place tree to hide within the leaves. The girl giggled, “I didn’t know you liked yellow, too.” Teru peeked out, sticking her tongue out in play, also boosting a certain Fox’s mood to run in circles. “You are so excitable,” she commented passively. Funny how one second everything is tranquil and quiet, and in another yips and rustling filled the air. Xiena scratched at the dirt, trying to find a way to release her sudden burst of energy. It’s a difficult thing to remain calm or keep her stomach from growling, and when both were out of control, so was she. She’d been quiet for too long, letting her trainer enjoy the scenery. Actually, it would have been a good thing to keep her girl talking instead of walking aimlessly. Neither was sure of their location anymore. Where was that science man when she needed him? The spot behind her ear itched for his touch. She awkwardly sat with her legs straddled, doing her best to scratch at the spot with her hind leg. So odd was the attempt that she twisted in circles on her bottom as she continued to reach. Her trainer suppressed laughter. Ending up falling on her back in defeat, Xiena softly in irritation. Then, she was relieved of her itch when Amy crouched down to help out. Her tongue lolled and back legs kicked in delight. “You silly girl,” Amy said after giggling at her pet. “Now, Teru, some down here so we can train, or at least be friends.” Teru shook her bulbous head, retreating further into her hideaway. Amy sighed, disappointed both Ghost and Fox were defying her lately. Even when her dear Skii disobeyed the one time, he quickly apologized and all was well again. These two didn’t seem to get it. The girl stretched her arms and abdomen, preparing to be assertive. “I’m going to get you down,” she warned, and when a taunting snicker was the only response, Amy strode up to the base of the tree. It was pretty thick around, sticky sap oozing from drilled hole made by wild Poke’mon, the bark stripped of the outer layer to expose a multi-coloured, almost glowing, smooth layer. There wasn’t much to grip at save for a few knots where branches may have rotted or broken off of. Testing one knot, she found it able to support her weight and withstand her climb. Her backpack slid from her shoulders to lessen unbalanced weight, then began her ascent. |

It wasn’t that scary to have her feet dangling off the ground. Haha, not at all. Keeping her mind focused on reaching Teru helped the fact she was afraid of heights…somewhat. During her ascent, Shuppet peeked over the edge of a branch to check on her trainer, quickly retreating in a fit of laughter. That human was seriously going to get her down? She floated up here by herself and she can float back down when she wants to. No valid reason to return to the human if her mood is so light-hearted like that. Makes her sick to her stomach. Teru jumbled some ideas around, settling on a fun game of hide-and-seek. This tree looked big enough to hold a few people at once, so play space wasn’t an issue here. And there were plenty of places to hide and flee from. If the Ghost had hands, they would be rubbing devilishly together in hatching a plan. Wriggling through a tight bunch of twigs, she settled in a place to await her trainer to carelessly peer in, then poof, Teru would have already moved from sight, snickering in another spot. Nearly silent whimpering caught Shuppet’s attention somewhere off to the side. She tilted her head, luminous purple and blue eyes sweeping all around to pin-point the noise. Negative vibes channeled from the right to her now-glowing horn, and it tasted delicious. Curiosity and hunger drove her from her place to wander next-door closer to the whimpering. Teru looked between two skinny branches to find shining silver reflecting sunlight from above, one of her eyes blinking at the intense glare. Teru couldn’t tell what this thing was, but its emotions were too tasty to pass up. She had some time before her trainer could climb all the way up. Inching closer, she got a better look, now angled away from the streaming sunlight. This thing curled itself into a metallic ball with a long tail, tipped with two arrowhead plates, wrapped around the branch it rested on. Its back was protected by three roofed metal shells all connected at the sides, reminding her of Lairon’s armor. But what would a cave-dwelling quadruped be doing in a tree…with a long tail? The creature sniffled, then stiffened at the pleased humming sound behind it. Someone was there watching, making it shudder in fear. The tri-crested plate on its small head lifted from its black belly to uncurl. It must know who was there…what if it was another one of them? They could have come looking, though that seemed unlikely with how bright it still was outside. Should have been perfectly safe concealed within this special tree. At the base of the truck, electrically-plated seals were buried underground, giving the bark its glow of protection. Not like anyone but this creature and the others would know about that. Aqua marine eyes lifted their gaze to meet the Shuppet’s grinning face head-on, pupils shrinking in terror. They did come to find it! This one bypassed the barrier! The creature squeaked and attempted to swing its tail at Shuppet, realizing too late the non-elemental attack wouldn’t work. Tail phasing through the enemy, she giggled as more bad energy was extracted from her target. It could feel the energy being sapped by the tingling in its stubby iron-banded arms and the growling weariness. Energy continued to flow forcefully from the metal creature, which now oddly resembled a Raichu by its body-type, and feeding the glowing horn. This was the most Teru had ever eaten at one time, delightfully swaying from side to side, sometimes circling the unknown one. It slowly sank back down to lie on the thick branch, tail sluggishly swishing to make contact with the Ghost. As thought it were injected with caffeine, the creature tood on four paws and darted forward to escape the trap. Amy pulled herself up by the last knot, swinging one arm over the first branch she met. Heaving herself the rest of the way, the tree had successfully been scaled without complication. Now to find Teru—Amy’s chest met a hard head. A very hard head. Both her and the figure were propelled off the tree, free-falling to the earth. Her arms instinctively wrapped around whatever fell with her, shifting to be fully under it to keep it from impacting the ground. A scream ripped the air. Xiena had been rolling around in a bunch of grass and dandelions to occupy her time, also setting gently drifting leaves on fire to watch them disappear in mid-air. Hunger raged in her tummy, growling at her accusingly. The scream pricked up her ears and forced her to her feet. Her head darted around, finally spotting Amy falling from above. She yelped and leaped out of the way, not wanting to get squished under the weight. Nothing went boom as she hid inside the green backpack. Crackling yellow and white electricity enveloped Amy and her accidental attacker, creating a sort of tornado appearance. Tiny bolts of lightning struck the ground below them in a pattern. Sometimes two or three bolts struck at the same time to form triangles. Intricate lines were left with each strike, connecting to each other; a swirl of dark colours showed something like acid in the middle of it all. The girl could see nothing happening, but could hear the crackling static and a rush of wind somewhere beyond her vision. Bronzen hair whipped all about, batting at her tightly squeezed eyelids. She didn’t want to know what was going on She hugged the figure closer with her rising fear of the unknown about to take over her. |

O amor é o maior evento da vida; a única coisa pela qual vale a pena viver

One moment, wind howled in the clearing, the next, nothing. No wind, no sparks, and no Amy. Xiena poked her head over the opening of the pack to get a better look, shock stunning her face. Her girl was nowhere to be seen. Even with running around to check behind trees and bushes (and even under some leaves), the Fox came up with nothing. Panic crept into her heart, and then Shuppet licked her cheek in play. Xiena jumped high at the scare, heart now pounding three times as fast as it should be able to. She glared at the Ghost, who just laughed it off. Both stared at where their trainer should have been; one wondering where she had gone, the other knowing exactly what happened. The black critter groaned in pain, but grateful it was still alive even after the nasty fall. The Shuppet stealing energy would have meant death if escape wasn’t sure. An unclawed paw gripped at soft fabric confusingly, only when brilliant eyes flashed open was the unconscious girl noticed. “Oh no!” a young masculine voice squeaked, starting to shake while looking around. What were they doing here? He should be back at the upper world, not here, anywhere but here. His shaking roused Amy from her darkness, a strained groan passing dry lips. The little creature hopped off her body to dash into a clump of blue bushes. Amy stirred uneasily, holding one hand to her chest. It really hurt to breathe, feeling like she’d been tackled by an anvil. Which probably happened, or something similar. She rolled on her side to help sit up awkwardly. Finally, the whole “where am I?” deal caught up with her. She muttered those words to herself as her gaze tried to register her new surroundings. Violet sky, wilted orange trees, small rusted cages hanging from said trees. Everything looked identical to the front yard of a haunted house. A fuzzball hung from the underside of a cage, wriggling once to change from blue to green. Amy blinked…that didn’t just happen. Still watching, the fuzzball wriggled again, and then took flight as a Woobat, but Amy didn’t recognize what it was. She held in a yelp to let the Bat fly away in some other direction. Her eyes followed, getting caught on a different sight. She knew what that was because Xavi owned one, though the name escaped her. The Ghost with a pearled necklace whispered, “Mis…” as it passed overhead. Misdreavus, that was it. The colours were all wrong, confounding the teen. What should be purple exchanged for bright orange, and the necklace pearls were dark read instead of shiny pink. Whatever was going on scared her. Just sitting there feeling helpless scared her. Ominous hoots and creepy cackles from far away made her skin crawl and shiver slightly. The very air around her was heavy with some identifiable scent that churned in the pit of her stomach. Afraid to speak lest something dangerous come along, she breathed, “H-hello? Xiena? Teru?” Her voice shook by holding back tears. She was not going to cry so easily, although the place reminded her of the beach at night. Black hands could reach out from the shadows at any moment, snatch her up. No one would know. No one else was here. Rustling in an odd-blue bush held her breath in her already tightening throat. It wasn’t that far from where Amy sat, maybe ten feet. Tiny black paws popped out to move some twigs until the girl screamed. “Black hands! He was right, they’re after me!” She scooted backwards frantically, too afraid to turn her back and run, in case they enjoy a good chase. A cute face emerged to stare shyly between the two black paws. Striking aqua eyes blinked twice in curiosity of her screaming. Amy didn’t relax hardly at all, tensing up even more when the thing spoke with a voice of a small boy. “Please don’t scream,” he said with an embarrassed expression. His head crest gleamed prettily and eyes sparkled in the moonlight. |

O amor é o maior evento da vida; a única coisa pela qual vale a pena viver

“Y-y-you talk.” Word tumbled incoherently afterwards, utterly failing at forming sentences, but accurately expressed her emotional turmoil. She calmed down enough in the next few minutes to sit cross-legged while still shivering. “You’re not going to hurt me or drag my body into the never-ending darkness, are you?” she inquired honestly. He looked like he’d just been slapped across the face. Half his body hung out of the bush to show he really meant what he was going to say. “I would never do such a thing! I like humans,” he sheepishly added. Good thing Amy remembered the article she’d read about an armor-plated Pokémon called Aron. She compared this one’s crest to her mind’s picture, and was satisfied with the close match. It may not look exactly like Aron, but it was close enough to be one. Related maybe? She hoped so, because from the article, Aron were rarely aggressive, only caring to contently chew on metal scraps. “I’ll take your word for it,” she decided, a small smile twitching on her lips. “What’s your name?” The creature smiled cutely, completely revealing himself standing on two long back legs, each with a silver ankle band. Amy had seen that body before where her mother worked in the Salon. A big orange mouse with a bolt tail similar to the one in front of her. Again, the name escaped her, as a lot of things do. He shifted his footing in building shyness. “My name? I was called Zilar for a while, but now they just shout at me for my attention. You can call me whatever you want. You’re a trainer after all.” Amy noted how adorable he was, despite his hard armor and dark skin. He was just a child in this horrible place and it made her heart pang in wanting to comfort him. Even though she may be the one most in need of comfort, that silly fact didn’t stop her feminine instincts. She reached out with palm faced out, beckoning him closer. “How do you speak if you aren’t human?” she asked. Zilar edged a little closer, walking as a kangaroo would with his floppy back feet. “Everyone can talk down here,” he answered as if she should have know long ago. Then, he looked around, tensing up his muscles. “We can chat more while we look for The Tower. Gotta get a move on before it closes up.” His hands waved upwards for the female to stand up, ignoring her reach for him. With urgency being the issue, Amy moved to push herself to her feet, then hesitated as her skin touched the ground. Or, she thought it was ground. It felt like a scrubby sponge people use in showers on some parts, and mold on other parts. She stuck her tongue out in disgust, standing anyway and swaying in dizziness. “Whoa, I guess that fall was too much for me,” she commented lightly, smiling better and holding her head. Wait…it felt too bare…she panicked. “W-where are my glasses?” Turning, she spotted them next to an approaching fat Ghost with a huge sneer. “Oh? What’s this?” Gengar with red ears said, stooping to pick up a pair of lack sunglasses. He cackled out of nowhere, and then frowned. These were of no use. Besides, BlackGlasses enhanced Dark moves, something he’d rather not have happen. About to step on them to render them useless, a shout stopped him. Zilar bounded over angrily, saying, “Hey, give it back. Those are Amy’s glasses.” His tail stood erect and he dropped to all fours in a ready stance. A soft growl warned the Ghost of a potential battle. “Oh yeah? Whatcha gonna do about it?” Gengar challenged with a snicker. No way was this little punk going to get in his way today; it was a very special day when Ghosts get to do whatever they want. If the glasses were to be broken, that’s what will happen. No freak of nature was threatening to this Ghost. Amy held her chest, still having difficulty breathing, as she watch the two stare each other down. She didn’t mean for a fight to start because of her, and she certainly gaped at the Ghost for talking. Sure, Zilar said they all could speak, but it’s not like that’s something to get used to right off the bat. Nothing much to do without the metal guy, she worried over the outcome of this skirmish. Hopefully no explosions and such occurred to draw unwanted attention to them. Still growling, Zilar’s tail tapped his back plates twice, micro sparks flying off from the contact of two metals. “I know how much you hate fire, so I want you to give them back, please.” He scraped the metals again, this time with longer strokes and bigger sparks. Gengar’s eyes widened and he backed away. “Now now, neither of us want any trouble here.” Of course it was only a mask of bravery, being just a regular bully. “I hate fighting, anyway. I’m heading over to The Tower tonight so we can party until dawn. See you suckers later!” The Ghost type scurried away, half floating, half running. “What was that all about?” Amy asked confusingly. The Ghost backed out of the fight? But she thought those kinds of Pokémon were supposed to be eager to argue and throw some Shadow Punches. Guess she had a lot more to learn than she originally thought. “Don’t worry about him anymore. I knew him from some time ago,” Zilar resolved, walking over to Amy’s side. “We do need to get going. C’mon!” He ran ahead, looking back to see if the girl was following him close enough to be safe. Amy hurried to catch up, breathing heavily already. “What exactly is The Tower?” She received no response to the question, so she decided to wait until they could rest somewhere first. This whole thing was too weird already. Here's Little Zilar the Laichu <3

Thankfully, the treasured item was safe back into the girl’s hands, though she still seemed worried. He’d be worried, too, if he were trapped in an unknown world surrounded by scary things and not knowing what to do. Zilar paced beside her, slightly in front since he was to lead, on two feet. He didn’t stand any taller than a normal Raichu. A couple inches shorter, in fact, the top of his crest barely clearing her thigh. Amy turned and checked over the glasses several times, also thanking the metallic creature for getting them for her. She couldn’t imagine what would happen if they’d been broken or stolen. All the noises coming from shadowy patches kept her from straying off too far from a straight line, her feet walking along an invisible rail of safety. She still had no idea what she was doing in a place like this and with the weird Pokémon named Zilar. To her, he didn’t even look like any Pokémon she could possibly remember seeing, whether it be in real life or on the television. She mulled over this confusing subject until remembering, oh yeah, she had technology. Glasses placed coolly on the bridge of her nose, they examined Zilar with nearly silent blips and beeps. A 3-D image dropped down from the top to rotate his body continuously as a box beside it displayed a loading symbol. It spun for quite a while. “You’re being very quiet for a human,” Zilar commented curiously, looking back to said human. “Shouldn’t you be asking a waterfall of questions about now? It’s not healthy to bottle up your thoughts when someone is here willing to listen.” His last words sounded older than his voice claimed, bringing up a wonder of how old he really was. Surely he wasn’t ten years old…or was he? Amy smiled for real at him for his concern, thinking immediately to someone else. “Yes, actually, I have a whole ton of questions. I’m just unsure if I want to know most of the answers.” She eyed a passing flock of Murkrow, the left lens of the glasses quickly unveiling an image and windows of information. Each imaged that popped up showed the different colours the Murkrow wore. Each new image overlapped an older one, eventually all lumping into a folder and blinking away. In seconds, the left lens was full and cleared of info. The right lens, however, still attempted to process Zilar into the system. Finally, two separate windows for Lairon and Raichu appeared in each lens with their respective documents of research. Ah, Raichu was the name at the tip of her tongue, and now she could know a great deal more about it just b scrolling. Like a fancy PokéDex, she thought. Travelers passing through Cerulean and Verdanturf owned those expensive-looking devices. What all they did, Amy wasn’t sure, since she didn’t become a real trainer until arriving accidentally in Aerei. The Professor she visited in the beginning could have a stock to pick from, but it didn’t matter much now. She may never escape this haunted world to even get a chance to return to the Professor. That, and it’s not like she needed a handheld catalog of Pokémon, already in possession of her friend’s special glasses. “I’m really sorry for dragging you down here,” the metalloid Pokémon confessed. “I’ll…I’ll make it up to you somehow. You can ask whatever you want since it’s my fault you’re here.” “Wait,” Amy thought aloud. “What do you mean by ‘down here’? Are we literally underground?” A weird sensation had tingled throughout her body as the two fell earlier. That wind may have had something to do with it, the crackling, too. It’s not everyday you know you’re about to hit the ground and end up passing instead. A truly mind-boggling experience she never would have guessed to see first hand. It made sense for this place to thrive underground, reminding her of a basement as well, or even the decorated forest past Nugget Bridge. Breaking from her memories yet again, Amy scrolled in the Dex entries, learning the basics of Raichu and Lairon. She glanced between the latter and Zilar, noting the similar frame. That’s why he can’t be Aron; he was too big. Making other connections to the three, she wanted to give him a name, too. Laichu sounded fitting. Zilar the Laichu. The Laichu’s eyes shifted warily for any stalkers before answering, “I guess you could say underground, but not quite. It’s really a world by itself where humans aren’t normally allowed. Exceptions can be made.” He said this in an attempt at reassurance. It didn’t make much difference when the girl squeaked anyway. Should have known there wasn’t much he could do to calm down a human. Once they got fidgety, rationality slips from the mind. So has it always been whatever he observed them in their world. Fascinating as they were, they sure did like to change their minds a lot. Instead of staying human, they would pretend to be something else: Ghosts, Vampire, Princesses, Pikachus. And the list rolls on. Why would humans not want to be who they are? Truth wasn’t that bad, was it? He looked down at his leathery paws with that question, having to agree with the changing. He didn’t care to be himself, either. “M-mind if I tell you something?” Amy swallowed back her self-concerns and smiled at him. “Anything.” He turned, about to speak, when she froze in place. A pair of crystalline orbs stared directly at her, paralyzing her in fear. |

O amor é o maior evento da vida; a única coisa pela qual vale a pena viver

One pair glowed from within the shadows, then two, then five. Several more, all different colours, surrounded the unusual pair of human and creature. They moved in closer; slow enough for their footsteps to remain silent. Quiet cackling didn’t echo in the open space. Despite the figures being cloaked in darkness, specs beeped in the process, revealing them to be called Sableye. They were known to play pranks on anyone, whether they were unsuspecting or not. Amy assumed the pranks may be potentially hazardous. That was, of course, also assuming all Ghosts here were destructive. She actually held back a giggle when one of the Sableye made itself known. “Oh look, a little girl. Are you lost?” a green-eyed teased with a voice of a chipmunk. Possibly way too much Helium had been inhaled, if they harnessed such things here. It crept closer with two buddies appearing behind. “Are you cold?” Amy covered her mouth, trying her best not to burst out in laughter in front of these Sableye. She must learn to keep her emotions in check as long as she knows nothing about the goings-on of this place. Which doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. Surely a creature with that kind of voice couldn’t be threatening. “A little cold, yeah,” she replied. The red-eyed stepped forward from the left to speak next. “Then you are in need of something to warm you, no?” When given a nod by the girl, it chuckled mysteriously, allowing a blue-eyed with a green body to take its spot. “Then you should come with us where we have much of what you seek,” it beckoned. The mass of glowing eyes disappeared as they all headed back the ay they came. Only the red-eyed stayed behind to wave its hand for the two to follow, making sure the human didn’t flee in the other direction. Zilar looked skeptically at Amy, asking if they were serious to trust such Sableye. Amy didn’t find anything wrong with it, really basing her trust on their voices, so she answered him with a nod. Where there was warm there must be food as well. Her stomach grumbled in response, but red-eye didn’t hear it since he was too far ahead now. The pair paced behind the oddly coloured Sableye, keeping a safe distance in case it wanted to attack for any reason. Then, Zilar had enough reaction time to defend against the attack. A dark cave loomed in the darkness just up ahead, sheltering an army of Sableye. It looked like an entire army of the things was watching the three approach from the inside. Snickers and hisses reached Amy’s ears just as she stood at the entrance. This is not going to end well, she finally registered. “Come, come,” red-eye pushed, parting a pathway between the army. “We have much warm and yum for you to take. In the farthest part of cave, it is.” Amy gulped, but her body was warming up the further they ventured in the pitch-black cave. She couldn’t even see her hand in front of her face, which scared her, and couldn’t hear Zilar’s silent footfalls. She was afraid to speak lest any sound disturbed something she didn’t care to meet. And her throat was too dry to make any sounds anyway. Breaking the harsh silence, Zilar whispered, “It’s getting awful hot in here.” But, his voice carried too well for it be a whisper. These cave walls were very bouncy and made it seem like he spoke normally. He was on her right, okay, now she knew where he was. Dripping from the low ceiling had stopped a couple minutes ago, possibly due to more and more heat radiating from whatever lay beyond them. Amy felt a single bead of sweat roll down her back. What on earth could it be to give off so much heat at once? And what were these objects in the walls that sparkled without the aid of light? After another couple minutes of walking through the darkness, red-eye made a clicking noise to stop Amy and Zilar in their tracks. Squinting, a small glow of light could be seen around a curve of a cave wall, which was interesting since the whole time it had been a straight path. By now, the air was heavy with heat and Amy’s shirt was damp on the back. She could have turned back to meet the cold outside air once more…if there wasn’t an army if Sableye guarding their escape. Red-eye faced the pair with a luminous white-fanged grin. “Here is where human be warm and eat. All of us are famished for tonight’s feast.” As it said that, the others behind them started chuckling in agreement. Nothing much to do but proceed, Amy continued towards the light…at the end of the tunnel. She could hear a rushing, but not of wind. More like flowing water, yet not as free to splash around. And then there was a thick bubbling as they neared. Heat became at the start of unbearable, almost certain she would not leave this place without some sort of sunburn. Ah, there was the end of the darkness and the beginning of…a volcano? |

Amy squeezed her eyes tight as a wave of superheated air rushed from the crater before her. Why in the world were they inside a volcano?! Sure, she wanted warmth, but this was going just a little too far. And how could these Sableye stand this place…aren’t they Ghosts? She held her head in dizziness, not used to being in such an intense environment, looking over to her partner in question. Zilar was shivering despite the true temperature, though sweat began to bead around his armour plates and face. He didn’t feel well at all. Being a Steel type inside a volcano was not a good idea, nor did it make the situation at hand any better. Shouldn’t have trusted these things, he thought. If this place weren’t a shortcut to their final destination, he wouldn’t have complied with following. “Try not to look down into the crater,” Zilar warned quietly, just as she began to lean precariously forward. She stood straight up, backing into a searing wall and stung the bottom of her right arm on the surface. The Laichu stepped closer, “Please be careful in here. I know this place, and there’s an exit that will point us directly at The Tower if we use it. Just follow—“ The clumsy arm-waving of a yellow-eyed Sableye caught their attention to have them walk with it down a narrow hall. The path to the hall lead halfway around the gaping crater of lava, kicking Amy’s heart into overdrive. “You have treat before big feast, yes? This way it be,” it sung. They entered into a low-ceiling room, which smelled oddly sweet, and found shiny stones embedded into the surrounding circular walls. Diamonds, of course, because volcanoes made these precious jewels. Amy accidentally pulled up more information, scanning over how the Ghost/Dark types ate gems to beautify their eyes. Several colours gleamed from the diamonds, explaining the differences in the Sableye themselves. Amy was urged forward by a scrawny Ghost to a section encrusted with mostly golden gems, and Zilar to clear-water blue gems. Both looked at each other first, and then plucked one from its place. The gems weighed more then expected and sparkled like disco balls when held towards the direction of the lava pit. “Amazing,” Amy breathed. Yellow-eye nodded encouragingly to the girl, creating slight confusion. Then, she recalled it talking about treats, so assumed she and Zilar were supposed to eat these diamonds….Not something she’d done before, obviously. The warmth in her hands slowly evened out to where the item wasn’t like a hotplate, and then she licked it with the very tip of her tongue. “Yum…” she faked, badly, though the creature bought it. It shuffled back the way it came, giving Amy time to pluck out more gems from the wall. “What are you doing?” Zilar questioned nervously, holding his one item and edging away from the wall. He didn’t want the others to scurry in here to find the girl gathering more than enough gems for herself. Amy glanced back at him with no move to take more; five fist-sized genuine diamonds were plenty. “Mom likes this kind of stuff, so I thought I’d pick up some for her. How do we get out of here?” She tried peeking out the way she came, seeing as that the only way out of this small room. Why did she follow them here? By far, the dumbest idea she’s made so far. “There’s a side vent, if I remember correctly, that we can climb out of. Now…where was it?” “Why can’t you recall this important thing?” “I’m sorry for not having been here in the last twenty years.” “You know what, I’m sorry. The heat’s pushing me to the edge and I’m just ready leave. I’ll stick close to you while you find our vent-thingy.” Amy wiped sweat from her brow, sure she had heard tiny footsteps. Probably her mind playing more tricks on her. Huh, that wasn’t there before. She followed him through a different hole where the ceiling rose higher and branched out into higher alcoves. Intricate mazes lead the two in a big circle, ending up back at the start. Zilar faceplamed. “I hate mazes…but we’re gonna do that for as long as we have to.” He urged Amy forward as several yapping Sableye chased them, shouting random stuff about a goddess and marshmallows. Amy could go for some marshmallows about now. A band of Yellow-eyes pursued the human girl with their clawed hands outstretched, yakking and grunting. For thin creatures, they weren’t very stealthy. Two had already run into each other aiming to squeeze through a too-small hole. Then, a quaking sent them all to the ground without balance, even Zilar, who had been running on fours. Up and around they had gone, crossing paths once or twice, until the quake knocked them down, luckily as they were crossing paths again. A sliver of light wormed its way through an aperture from above, beaming directly into Amy’s eye. “Ow, I think I found the way out,” she pointed. Sableye had scurried to their feet quicker than she thought, closing in on the two with high-pitched snickers. The light grew harsher, outshining the lava’s heatwaves. Amy reached for her belt of PokéBalls and drew a Luxury Ball. Oh wait, Xiena was back on the surface. She held up Teru’s Ball, who was also not in it. Trying again, she drew Skii’s Ball, thinking his Water could fend off the heat-loving Ghosts. Skii emerged from his dim red light in a fuss. “Go ‘way, meanies,” he spat, along with a mouthful of water at each approaching Ghost. “No one get my Mimi.” Oh, how cute! His has a speech defect, or rather he was a baby talker. He couldn’t even pronounce Amy’s name right, but it was too cute! Amy lifted herself to her feet and started climbing up the layered ledges leading up to their exit. Doing so with one arm full of stones was a tad difficult, but she wanted these for other people, refusing to let them drop to make ascension easier. “C’mon Skii and Zilar!” she called. After another Water Gun, Skii waddled over the first ledge, struggling to hoist himself up fast enough to defend. So, Laichu pushed him up with his head, flicking a static tail in the face of an enemy. They continued up and up, when the light nearly blinded Amy and crashed into the wall. Before she knew it, she was staring into the face of a huge Golem, which scooped up herself and her team. Golurk’s hinges creaked with every movement. “Mission targeted,” it relayed in the form of an automated message. It cupped Amy in one stony hand and the Pokémon in the other, turning to propel itself back into the sky from whence it dropped. |

The Dark Lord sat in complete silence, intensely staring into his dark crystal sphere. Surrounding air trembled with the faint screams of lost souls, though it did not interrupt his brooding. He had just witnessed the show at Volkan, put off about how even dumb creatures as Sableye couldn’t capture a human girl, the most fragile beings ever to live. Then again, that misfit traitor Zilar accompanied her, alongside another companion the girl released. Luck was on her side when a giant of a Golurk crashed the party and stole away their play toys. It was most likely heading for The Tower to take them back to their own world, carrying out the mission it was created for: protecting the human race. Rama rotated the crystal thoughtfully. He had allowed the Sableye lackeys possession on the human girl if they were to capture her, yet it was clear to him they were incapable of such a feat. And now their precious home activated prematurely. Lava bubbled from its crater and shot up through all openings to flow freely across the area. It wouldn’t go too far without falling into a chasm, which encircled the volcano. The Gripper Pokémon curled his free hand into a fist, speaking to himself, “This is what happens when I don’t take matters into my own hands. No distress, I have the rest of her life to do what I will.” He turned his head beside his throne, calling out for Anoushka. In a sparkle of lavender light, a deep purple Gothitelle with a black face bowed respectfully to Dusknoir. “How may I serve you, my lord?” she recited. “Go forth and warn the human of my coming. Tell her of the future, of her death. And don’t sugarcoat it,” he added maliciously. She bowed again, vanishing in the same light. ---------------------------- Amy buried her face in her stony grip. Heights were not her thing, rather having her feet on solid ground than dangling miles in the sky. “I do not like this. Not at all. Let me down!” She squirmed around, trying not to open her eyes towards the faraway earth. How was a nine-foot boulder rocketing through the air anyway? Five yellow diamonds pressed against the girl’s body to make several indents. At least there weren’t any jagged edges to cut into the skin, so it only imprinted small lines when held too close. She wasn’t about the let them go, either. Golurk noted the human’s objection to heights, lowering the altitude to focus on moving forward. The sooner its mission was completed, the sooner Amy was to get back to land in her own world. It switched to check on its other capture. Laichu was stretching his body like a dog with a car window, sticking his tongue out to flop in the rushing wind. Squirtle…stared at Laichu in wonder. Never before had Skii seen such a specimen as this, borderline on two species without one overpowering the other. Satisfied with the Pokémons’ coping with the situation, Golurk turned back to the cowering Amy. “Me Fravardin,” it spoke in a digital double-voice. “Who you?” Amy covered her eyes as she looked in Golurk’s direction. “My name is Amy,” she replied shakily. “Amy nice name. Pretty like flower.” She giggled. “Well, thank you. Mom named me after a flower called Amaryllis. Your name…something—din…is cool, too.” “Fravardin,” it corrected, attempting a chuckle like Amy did. It sounded more like a broken record. “I take you home where you be safe.” She smiled at that, hearing about going home calming her. Flying didn’t seem so scary now if it was the way out of this place. “Thank you very much, Fadin. This means a lot to me how there’s someone here who doesn’t want to hurt me.” Her hand suddenly felt warm despite the coldness of the wind. Warmth crept up her arm, stopping at her shoulder, making her shiver once at the unbalanced temperature. It didn’t make much sense for her arm to be different, unless it was the same arm she’d burned against the volcano wall. If so, she’d have to look more into it when she returns home. “Lady here see you,” Golurk informed the passengers. Indeed, there was a woman figure standing on Fravardin’s shoulder, one hand on the stony spike. |

Amy squinted her hardest to make out the silhouetted figure. Was there another human besides her, or was it a Pokémon? Glasses revealed Gothitelle carefully stepping down the slope of Golurk’s arm. “Who are you?” she asked cautiously. “I am called Anoushka,” Gothitelle introduced. She had made it to the Stone Giant’s wrist shackle, curtsying respectfully, despite her mission. “I have come to bring you news of the future; a warning.” She looked at the Psychic type doubtfully. “You mean you’re one of those futurenaut things that tell of impending doom? I’ve read stories about that stuff, but it being real…” Skii broke his gaze from Zilar to blink up at Anoushka. “Lady, you not evil, right?” He popped out from the stony grip to crawl up and over to his trainer. It was too uncomfortable to be separated too long from her. She was his mother figure. Afraid he might fall, Zilar wrapped his tail around the Turtle’s shell to carry him across. It was risky to trust Skii’s tiny hands and feet, knowing the rushing wind would easily swipe him away. “I try not to be, little one. Sometimes, it can’t be evaded,” she replied vaguely. “About the future…” She was interrupted by Zilar glaring at her in scrutiny, stepping in front of the girl and her Pokémon. She ignored him as best she could, not wanting him to cause a scene with his known hatred towards her. “Why don’t you just beat it? No one wants anything to do with you, you schemer,” Zilar snapped, baring fangs and sharpening his tail against the back plates. Amy reached out to the protective creature. “Shouldn’t we listen to what she has to say?” He didn’t respond verbally, but didn’t move all the same, clearly showing his opinion in the matter. Anoushka sighed, looking away as if to leave in that direction. “Thirteen thirteen,” she relayed. “As the Moon grins an evil grin from among the stars, we’ll meet again.” Gone in a flash. The three travelers stared where the Gothitelle once stood, Amy blinking away after a moment to comment: “None of this can possibly be real. I’ll be sure to wake up under the sunshine with nothing out of place and my chest relieved of pains.” Still in the back of her mind, this world whispered reality. “Hey, Amy?” Zilar said quietly, laying down next to her on Golurk’s arm. “We’re just under your home, so I won’t be able to say anything in a moment. Thanks for not calling me a freak or turning away in disgust. You’re nothing like my creator, and I’m grateful for that.” He smiled sweetly. The human girl tilted her head in confusion, her attention being captured by the sight around them. Swirls of violets and greens and traces of white crackled on all sides. Way down below, which Amy made the mistake of peering at, a humungous stone pillar shot up, multitudes of Poke’mon of various shapes and colour-schemes climbing all over it trying to reach the very top. If they were to succeed, the upper world acted as a playground until the break of dawn, where they would flee back into the underworld. Failure to do so resulted in either banishment or death. “Creator?” No response was given, the group already having tensed for the turbulent ride upwards with energy shocks pricking their skin. The force weighing down was too much for the teen, knocking her out. Amy’s eyes fluttered open, meeting to gaze of a Vulpix too close to her face. Xiena immediately began licking all over her trainer’s face in delight of waking, so glad to know she was alive. If she were dead, who would feed her and give belly rubs? But in all seriousness, she was super worried. “Ah, ok ok, down girl,” Amy giggled, wincing as a splitting headache pounded against the front of her skull. She carefully propped herself up on an adjacent tree, the same she’d fallen from earlier, hands caressing the ache. The Sun barely peeked over the horizon, indicating it getting late to be outside without a source of warmth. Eyes scanned her surroundings. No Skii and no Zilar…so it was just a nightmare after all. Falling from the tree must have done a number on her brain cells. A tinge of emptiness panged. That means nothing really mattered and the strange yet interesting sights weren’t true. But that also meant whatever that Gothitelle said doesn’t apply. Oh well, she sighed. Teru hovered over her trainer, embarrassed to admit she kind of missed her, only to notice the same iron creature stalking them from a line of bushes not too far away. Amy noticed not too long after, calling out a hoarse greeting to it. Zilar popped out into the open, startling the human and companions. He sat back on his haunches with a pleading look in his aqua marine eyes. With a hop closer, he watched Amy pull out her last Poke’Ball and shake it in question. He nodded and smiled, crawling on his belly slowly over to lay at her feet, yawning. Amy tapped the button to his forehead, yawning and smiling as well when the Ball dinged in acceptance. She dozed off in exhaustion under the odd yellow tree, Xiena curling in her lap, and Teru waiting for them to get a move on. |

It certainly has been a while since you started this. Approved capture of Zilar, though the ending seems a bit off to me. Because of this, I expect bonding with the Laichu that will confirm their friendship to a greater degree than a silent request to be Pokemon and trainer. |
