Why was it always when Kitty was just wandering around, minding her own business that things had to pop up and totally destroy her day? Here she was, walking around, looking for adventure and a challenge, when a rather nasty one just threw itself into her face.

"What the hell is that?" Kitty exclaimed, after the enormous shimmering silhouette swooped down from the heavens and started pecking and swiping at her and her pokemon with its glittering talons. She had to shield her eyes from the sun to look up at it, and couldn't quite see it through the way it reflected the sun's rays in such a way that her retinas would never be the same again.

"Vee!" her Eevee horde cried in unison as one of them was lifted into the sunset to be this monster's brunch.

"Sandie!" Kitty cried with her pokemon, and leapt up to catch her, but fell short by just one inch. The bird creature noisily flapped away, the chubby Eevee squirming in its grip, to disappear into a handy nearby cave.

With a sigh, Kitty began to trudge through the mud towards the entrance, returning everyone except Rocky into their balls and popping them into her backpack. "I really don't have time for this," she muttered into the cavern's entrance, and her voice echoed it back to her in case she hadn't heard herself the first time.

"Yeah, I need to find my Eevee. She's leaving orphans and a mate behind if I don't get her back." Kitty let her face droop into a frown, but then raised her head again. "I'm sure we will get there in time, though," she added, trying to be reassuring. But... in time for what? Not any time to think right now - she was being attacked.

"Dodge that ice attack," she told Sol, having to specifically let him know what was going on. He gauged the temperature change from somewhere near his left head, and Matrix-dodged by bending the long neck backwards, the only movement he had had time and the knowledge of his surroundings to execute. The attack sliced against the underside of his neck, and stung him like hell - especially after that Metal Sound - but he got back up and shook himself off, already looking like he was about to go down. "Ok... try a Work Up to start." Solomon began to almost vibrate, waves of power washing from his body, and muscles tensing. "Now Dragon Rush!" She had to start strong - he wouldn't last long against these icy moves. He became enveloped in a bluish light and began to charge straight for the opponent.

Meanwhile, the second Kabuto coated itself in a thick cape of water that rose inexplicably from the cave floor, and shot completely out of the way of the spiny Sandslash projectile. In the same swift movement it curved around to smash into the opponent with a continuation of this Aqua Jet attack, water spraying out at all angles from the ferocity of the attack. This was definitely not going to be as easy as Kitty had expected.

When the Zweilous successfully dodged the Ice Beam with an impromptu limbo of his long neck, the Kabuto started to chatter and snap its two forelegs together threateningly. When it realized that Solomon was readying himself for a retaliatory attack, it suddenly Hardened and buried its six legs into its shell. As the Dragon made contact, the bug-like Pokemon was sent skidding across the cave floor and bounced off the nearby wall, sending a few stalactites crashing to the cave floor in the process.

Once it had stopped spinning and sliding, the Ancient Pokemon stuck out its legs and shook off the hit, hissing triumphantly. While it had sustained some damage (there was a hairline crack on the back of its shell), it had avoided a majority of the hit, even with Solomon's Work Up. Then, without warning, it suddenly jumped up and seemed to disappear into the cave floor upon coming back down. it's Dig attack was amazingly fast and the acoustics in the cave made it difficult to pinpoint exactly where it was tunneling beneath them.

Meanwhile, Hannah watched with a frown as the Kabuto used the momentum of the Aqua Jet to not only dodge Ginger's Rapid Spin, but whirl around and hit the Sandslash directly on her exposed abdomen. The red Sandslash cried out in pain and started to jump around, waving her claws frantically to try and get as much water off as she could, as if it were somehow hurting her. How had that stupid bug been so fast?
"Alright, Ginger, stay away from it the best you can. Poison Sting!"
Unlike her normal Poison Sting where she actually made contact with the target, the pangolin-like Pokemon started spinning, firing several needle-like projectiles in the Kabuto's direction.

When the Kabuto disappeared underground, Solomon looked rather confused, his two heads sniffing left and right and wondering where the smell of his opponent had gone. The other similar smell was still there, but it wasn't the one his trainer wanted him to be fighting.

A slight rumble under his feet gave him a clue. The opponent was underground? Kitty confirmed that as quickly as she could. "Sol, he's gone underneath you. Feel carefully for where he's going to come up." This was the kind of area a blind pokemon excelled in. Usually. The Kabuto was too small and fast to properly sense, and it shot out of the ground like a bullet, catching her Zweilous in the gut and sending him staggering backwards, one head in shock and the other snapping around furiously.

"It's cool, don't panic," Kitty said, her voice remaining calm. "Go for a Bite, quick." The pokemon's two heads shot forwards, both aiming for the smaller foe, and smashed together. Kitty slapped herself in the forehead and cursed. "Ok, closest head Bites. Then the other head goes in if the first try misses. Is that better?"

Both heads stared blankly for a while, looked at each other, and then one of them lunged forwards towards the Kabuto, the other one ready to fix the mistake if the attack were to miss.

-

The Kabuto used Harden quickly, managing to deflect a lot of the needle-like projectiles with its temporarily immune shell. That didn't manage to stop the full effect of the attack, however, and one of the needles became lodged in the fleshier part of its stomach, and from the way its legs began to shake and curl, it looked as though it was poisoned.

Indignant at the damage being done to it from this silly little spiky enemy, and now feeling considerably ill, the Kabuto scuttled forwards, veering from left to right to avoid any impromptu attacks that might be thrown at it, and then shot itself forwards to attempt to latch onto Ginger with a Mega Drain. That would make it feel much better.

The Ancient Pokemon immediately began chattering victoriously once it made contact with Solomon's abdomen, confident that it would easily win the battle against its blind opponent. Once the momentum of the Dig attack had subsided, the Kabuto readied itself for a followup Tackle attack, only to be stopped short by one of the opponent's heads lashing out. The little bug easily scuttled out of the way of the first Bite, but was caught off guard by the second; with a squeal, the Kabuto instinctively tucked its legs into its shell. Once all of its appendages were safely inside, the Ancient Pokemon would then attempt to start spinning.

Granted, the Rapid Spin may have been hindered if it was still in one of Solomon's mouths, but it was more out of a desperation than anything. The poor Kabuto's shell was already starting to crack from the Bite attack. Not only was the Kabuto trying to spin its way out of trouble, it started to squeal and screech loudly, both out of pain and desperation. The scream would then turn more shrill as its spinning and struggling persisted, turning into another Metal Sound attack. The sound, like before, would be reminiscent of nails on a chalkboard and reverberated around the entirety of the cave.

- -

Due to the Metal Sound currently being produced by Solomon's opponent, Ginger was temporarily immobilized. She didn't even notice the Kabuto scuttling towards her, more focused on covering her sensitive ears and tossing her head to and fro. Without warning, the green Mega Drain tendrils latched onto and began sucking away precious energy, causing her to cry out in pain and surprise.
"Rapid Spin, Ginny!" Hannah called, at which point the pangolin-like Pokemon began to spin with her claws outstretched in an attempt to break the Mega Drain's hold. Unfortunately, the Kabuto had managed to sap some energy from her and the act of spinning was beginning to become a difficult one, despite the fact it was a natural thing for Sandslash to do.

The head with the Kabuto in its mouth clamped down hard to keep it secure while waiting for the next order, but the other one - rebel that it apparently was - attempted to smash itself hard against the opponent with a Headbutt before Kitty could open her mouth. Now, as the Kabuto was attempting a Rapid Spin, the head in which it was contained was jerking in small circles as it tried to keep it safely still, and so the Headbutt would just as likely hit the other head as it would hit the Kabuto, if it was still stuck at all by the Bite when the attack hit.

Regardless of the Headbutt's accuracy, Kitty managed to get a command in. "Uh, Work Up," she said, finding it difficult to get a handle on this battle. A blind pokemon was hard enough to command, but one with two feuding heads? Solomon began to work himself up, raising the power of his subsequent attacks.

-

The Kabuto had definitely not expected the thing to begin spinning like that when he successfully latched on; that was something that he did, not the enemies! Taken by surprise and the fact that his entire position was currently dependent on Ginger remaining still, he shot off of her like a bullet, smacking with a strange wet noise against the hard cavern wall, and skittering down again. That, combined with the poison, surely had it knocked out.

But no, not quite. Urged on by its companion, the half-dead Kabuto pushed itself to the few legs that were still in use and limped towards Ginger, its shell still glowing from the Endure it had pulled off at the last second. Without warning, the cave shook a little, and a few rocks were yanked out of the ground and feebly tossed at the Sandslash. Ancientpower, but severely weakened. A well-aimed sneeze would knock this pokemon out now.

Assuming the Headbutt from Solomon's second head had been enough to knock the Kabuto from the Pokemon's mouth, the little bug-like creature popped out and went scuttling across the cave floor on its back. Unfortunately for it, that was about all it did. Since it's legs were so small, it seemed to be having a hard time getting back up; it started to squirm pathetically, chirping anxiously. More out of desperation than anything, the Kabuto Hardened itself and proceeded with an attack it was certain would deter the Dragon-type from attacking and leave it ample time to get back up. Within the cave, a strange and eerie wind began to blow. Not only was the inexplicable wind growing in intensity, but it was also becoming colder by the second; Icy Wind.

Despite the Icy Wind currently ravaging the cave, the Kabuto was in an incredibly volatile position with its soft underside exposed.

- - - -

"Crush Claw, baby." Hannah's voice was confidently calm after seeing just how weak the poor thing's Ancient Power had become. Though she was panting, the lithe little Sandslash leapt up with little difficulty and, using those massive claws of hers, crushed the first of the boulders. The hit send rubble all about the cave and even a few of the larger chunks knocked the other rocks off kilter and allowed the Mouse Pokemon to escape from harm.
"Good girl, now, end it with a Swift attack!" Chirping triumphantly, the red Sandslash started spinning, numerous star-shaped projectiles firing from her and towards the Kabuto.

That Icy Wind attack really stung the poor Dragon type, and Solomon took a couple of steps backwards in shock, not having had much experience with attacks that had hurt that much.

"Suck it up," Kitty snapped helpfully, putting her hands on her hips. Depending on how adept this Kabuto was at getting back onto its feet, they had a limited amount of time to end this battle and move on to find Sandie. "Body Slam. Finish it!" she ordered.

The Zweilous sucked in a deep breath with one of his heads while the other bared its teeth. He took off at a run, and a few feet before a collision with the opponent he leapt, angled himself so that the pointed shoulder joints would land first, and attempted to slam straight into the exposed underbelly of the Kabuto.

-

The Kabuto squeaked audibly at the sight of its last efforts being literally shattered by the long claws of its enemy. With a deep breath, it began to skitter blindly around the cavern, fruitlessly trying to avoid the unavoidable star-shaped energy missiles. When they caught up with it, it went tumbling forwards, stopped by a nearby rock and totally knocked out.

The Kabuto flipped on its backside vocably protested when it realized Solomon was coming in for a Body Slam, as if this would somehow persuade the Dragon-type not to go through with it. When the two headed Pokemon slammed into the exposed creature, it went smashing into the wall behind it with a sickening crack. Upon closer inspection, it would be revealed that the force of the hit had caused the Kabuto's hard outer exoskeleton to crack. The Pokemon wasn't knocked out, but it quickly realized it was getting no where fast with a broken shell. So, chattering angrily, it scuttled over to its fainted companion and started scooting it across the cave floor and to safety. It would seem, for the time being, that the two young woman had prevailed.

"Good job, Ginny!" Hannah, being the exuberant trainer she was, immediately went about congratulating her Sandslash. The pangolin-like Pokemon did a few show offy jumps and spins before it was eventually returned to its Pokeball, at which point Hannah had become quite serious once she remembered the reason why they were in the cave.
"Let's keep going, then." She said finally. "Poor Shaymin's probably scared to death right now.

Kitty nodded with a slight frown at the words of the other trainer, and returned Solomon to his ball. "Yes," she agreed. "I hope Sandie's ok..." The thought of the rest of her Eevee troupe being without the mother gave her a knot in her stomach.

Confidently she began to lead the way through the winding tunnel system once again, choosing a way at random and hoping that the other girl would follow her - it was safer to stay together and she felt much more at ease knowing that that gigantic Ursaring was close by.

The tunnel she had chosen splayed out eventually into another cavern, a little bigger than the last. A gentle trickling noise directed Kitty's attention to the far corner of the cavern where water splayed from a crack in the wall into a deep and twinkling pool. She would have loved to relax for just a moment as she couldn't immediately see any danger, but she couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
