"RIO, RIO, RIO! DODRI, DODRIIIII!" The Dodrio on top of the Lyfaro family's house was giving its daily wake up call as the sun was rising in the East. Around the ranch, the Lyfaro family and the Pokemon on the ranch were beginning to stir. The new day was a day that had been waited for for a few years now. It was the day Danos would leave home to train himself to be a Sheriff one day. His first step was to be a great Pokemon Trainer, and then once he was strong enough, he would run for Sheriff of Brevis Village. As the Dodrio was calling out, Danos' eyes began to peel open from the night's slumber. He had slept surprisingly well considering he was nervous about his departure. He had never been away from home for very long. What worried him most was that he wasn't sure when he would be back. He didn't want to leave his parents by themselves with a ranch to take care of. They had assured him several times that everything would be okay, but Danos was never thoroughly convinced. Danos stretched and pushed back his covers. After a quick trip to the bathroom, he came back to his room and opened up his dresser. He put on the pair of jeans he had purposefully left unpacked for today. He then put on a T-shirt and one of his vests. After putting his clothes on, he walked back over to his bed and sat down. He reached over and grabbed one of his boots and began to slide it on, following up with the other boot shortly after. He picked up the bag that had his clothes and items in it and walked towards the door. He stopped right before the door and turned to the peg on the wall that had his hat on it. With one hand, Danos picked the hat up, placed it on his head, and tipped the brim down just a little. As he began to walk out the door he turned around to survey his room one last time making sure he hadn't forgot anything. Danos walked downstairs and could smell his mom had already made breakfast. He hadn't even thought about food. Danos' stomach growled at the smell. One last homemade meal before I head out.. I'm gon' miss this.. As Danos made it down the stairs, he saw his father already sitting at the table. Danos walked over to the table and sat down, setting his bag next to his chair. "Mornin'." Danos' father said. Danos simply nodded his head. "You sleep ok?" Danos nodded again. "Slept pretty good considerin'..." "That's good. Don' want you to start off exhausted." Danos' mother interrupted her husband saying, "It's ready." Both Danos and his father got up to make a plate. After a moment, Danos returned to the table with a plate full of eggs and bacon. He sat down and began to eat at a faster pace than he usually did. The conversation was small, but it was a meal with his family, and that's what mattered. When they had all finished, Danos' mother took their plates to the sink and returned to find Danos already standing up. "I better get goin', I'm gon' try to get as far out as I can by nightfall." "We know," replied his father. "You just be careful," he continued. "I will, but if y'all changed your mind, I can stay if you want?" Danos' father immediately shook his head no. "We've waited for this day to come, and it's time you went ahead and explored the world outside of this little ranch." "Alright," Danos replied. He then hugged his mom and kissed her on the cheek. Then he turned to his father and offered out his hand to shake it. His father grabbed it and pulled him in for a hug. After they had said their goodbyes, they all headed outside. As Danos walked through the doorway, he saw Sequoya had been brought to the front of the house and roped off to a post. Most likely, his father had done that this morning. Danos approached Sequoya and stuck his hand to her snout. "You ready to go?" Sequoya's only response was a hefty exhale from her nostrils. Danos unraveled the rope from the post and went to Sequoya's side. He then jumped up on to her back like he had done so many times before. After getting his bag situated to where it would ride well, Danos pulled on the reigns and turned Sequoya around, away from the house. He then turned his head towards his father and mother. He lifted his hat and placed it back on his head in a final farewell and then took off. |
