Disaster Hunting; Fun in the mountains

Ryo smiled as the Dragonite that brought him to the base of the mountain took off to go bus more people.

He then turned to Mt. Stella looking over it fondly "this is the perfect territory." He reaches into his coat and pulled out Fenrir's Poke Ball and threw it to the ground. The ball opened and out sprang his companion who shook his body growling lightly as he seemed to be cramped. Ryo chuckled lightly and gently rubbed his hand over Fenrir's head "Well partner we're here to find the Disaster Pokemon so let's see how we handle."
Fenrir barked lightly in agreement as he turned around to look at the mountain.

Ryo started on his way towards the mountain ready for whatever he may encounter. Fenrir right by his side sniffing here and there his head always on the move. As the two entered the actual mountain area they often had to switch between climbing, or walking, but the hike itself wasn't going to be the issue. It was the Pokemon who made its home in mountainous regions.

((Wow I'm tempted to throw Yuki into this, if only because Mt. Stella is pretty much his territory. xD))

Many a Pokemon had watched as Ryo and Fenrir traversed the mountain, though none bothered to approach. A lot had gone on up in the mountainous region that left the wild Pokemon quite wary about trainers wandering their land. A few Pokemon were still going on about how a Haxorus was killed by a human, though the story obviously lost key facts as time went by.

Still, a few Pokemon were still curious about the latest travelers, and they chose to follow the trainer and his partner. That was, of course, until something alerted each of them of a danger. Upon learning this, the wild Pokemon scattered and one thoughtlessly ran towards Ryo and Fenrir.

The Pokemon was a Sunkern, normally a cheery one at that, and it appeared quite panicked due to the alarming news it learned of. Unfortunately the silly thing wasn't paying attention of where it was going and ended up slamming into Ryo's back. Although it was purely accidental, there was a chance that the action would be viewed as an attack, and the Sunkern realized too late what had just happened.

Now it stood in place, several steps away from both Houndour and trainer, waiting expectantly to see what either would do to it.

((Just run with it for now.))

Ryo listend and watched for a pokemon, but none were coming his way. At this he became a bit discouraged "Well....it'll be a waste of a trip if we came all the way here only to find no pokemon."

Fenrir nodded his head in agreement still keeping his nose working. His nose worked endlessly and constantly told him that there were indeed pokemon around but none were coming towards them.

When Ryo stumbled forward he whipped around to see what had hit him. He smiled to see the little Sunkern "Aw. Hey little guy." he bent down smiling at the little plant pokemon "What are you doing way out here?"
Fenrir turned to regard the little grass type with little interest.

Seeing as how the human wasn't going to harm it, the Sunkern squeaked and made to hop away. For a moment it looked like the Pokemon was going to flee safely back into the shrubbery nearby, but then a blur passed by and snatched the Seed Pokemon away. It was as if the Pokemon had disappeared, the movement was so sudden, but then a squeal of confusion resounded in the air and revealed the position of two Pokemon, one of which was the Sunkern.

Standing above the frightened Sunkern was a beautiful Absol, her fur appearing silky and glossy with the way the light shone down upon her. The Disaster Pokemon was silently watching both Ryo and Fenrir, intelligent eyes appearing quite sad and proving that she was well-versed with her role as disaster seer. Once noticed by the trainer and Houndour, the mountain side would seemingly become silent, even the Sunkern unwilling to make a noise.

Then the Absol would turn, her attention drawn elsewhere, and bound away to investigate the latest discovery.

Ryo frowned as the sunkern hopped away from him and Fenrir.
Fenrir however turned his head looking for something.

As Ryo was about to stand up and leave the blur caught his attention. When he beheld the Absol his eyes lit up like the sun with excitement "this is it. She's beautiful." He was about to command Fenrir to attack when she became interested in something else and ran off. Ryo's eyes widdened in horror "Come Fenrir we can let her get away!" he then began to follow after the Absol with Fenrir right at his heels.

It wasn't a great distance from where Ryo spotted the Absol, but the chase would have been a heavy one due to the fast-paced climbing and such. At last the Disaster Pokemon stopped though, and now she peered down at the sight below with experienced eyes. Not far away was a Watchog seemingly hanging for dear life off the edge of a cliff.

Before the Dark-type could go down to assist the distressed Normal-type, the Absol noticed Ryo and Fenrir nearby and instead eyed the pair with eyes that shone brightly with intelligence. The moment was short-lived however, for the Absol perked her head up, appearing to have sensed something, and then leapt away toward the Watchog.

Unfortunately the Pokemon didn't get very far however, and she was forced to stop as the ground was rife with cracks. At any moment, the cliff could collapse and take the Watchog with it. Absol was apparently too heavy and would only make matters worse, but what if something lighter took her place?

Ryo continued his chase breathing heavily "d-damn....." he looked up to see the white pokemon standing alone looking at something. Fenrir growled and panted as he began to head towards the Absol ahead of his partner.

Ryo had reached where the Absol once stood when he heard the sound of the cracks. His eyes widdened as he looked around for the origin still panting with the energy he used to get up there. Fenrir stopped dead looking around his eyes trying to find the source.

The Absol stepped forward carefully, hoping to be able to reach the Watchog, but then a spiral of a crack appeared beneath her paw and the Pokemon hastily backed away. Much to her dismay, there was no way she would be able to help the Normal-type; not like this. As she peered critically at the cracks, a thought crossed her mind and she returned her attention to Ryo and Fenrir.

For a moment the Absol regarded Ryo warily, but then the Disaster Pokemon looked over to the Houndour and dipped her head respectfully. After doing so, she requested the fellow Dark-type's help, wishing for Fenrir to tread carefully across to fetch the Watchog. If done correctly, then a life would be saved.

((If you choose to assist the Absol, then you may write up to the point of reaching the Watchog; I will take over from there to continue with the story. Of course, if you choose to be creative, you may go along with that instead.))

Ryo looked at the Watchog, and then at the Absol "I see what's going on now." he looks down to Fenrir who seems to be communicating with the Absol.

After a moment Fenrir ran up to the Disaster Pokemon, and then past her. His movements were a bit clumsy, but certainly fast, and they didn't cause cracks. After a few heart wrenching moments which caused Ryo to try and get closer Fenrir reached the Watchog and expressed he was there to help.

((Heh, you could have came up with something if you really wanted to.))

It was a great relief to the Watchog that the Houndour was there to help, and the Normal-type reached out a claw in hopes of being saved. Unfortunately however, that action alone was enough to dislodge a bit of the cliff. Upon this happening, the cliff literally crumbled beneath the Houndour's paws and sent both Pokemon falling to their doom.

As the two Pokemon fell, the Absol instinctively moved closer to Ryo in case the trainer tried to save Fenrir; the last thing she needed was a human to die in vain. Once she was sure the youth wouldn't be getting past her, the Absol then used Future Sight to see how the Watchog would be in the near future.

To her immense relief, she foresaw both the Watchog and Houndour safe far below, but that safety had a time limit, as she was well aware of. Turning her attention to Ryo, she willed the boy to understand her calm and to feel it as well. Whether it worked not however, the Absol would then attempt to nudge or lead Ryo around so that they could travel down to the Watchog and Fenrir.

Fenrir yelped lightly as he and the Watchog fell, he did his best to stay on his feet knowing if he were to slip that it would be the end. He managed to stay on his feet the whole slide down.

Ryo took one step before the Absol stopped him. He looked down the at the cliff he slowly inhaled trying to keep his calm "T-Thank you...." he looked around trying to find a way down the cliff "You lead the way" he said finally "I'll follow you. Please we must hurry."

It was a miracle, as far as the Watchog was aware, that both he and the Houndour survived! Truly it was! After having seen the Absol try and fail to save him, he thought for sure he was a goner, but then that heroic pup came by and did it instead. Sure the ground pretty much gave out anyway, but it was probably thanks to the hound that the two survived anyway!

Because of that, the Lookout Pokemon expressed his immense gratitude to Fenrir for the Houndour's helping him out, and then promptly added that he would be honored to be of assistance in the future. He was, as the Watchog claimed in emphasis, in debt to the young hound. Just name it and this Normal-type swore that he would somehow make it happen.

And while the Watchog continued on like that, the Absol led her human companion down the slope in pursuit of the aforementioned Pokemon. Unfortunately however, she was forced to pause once more as something else caught her attention. The hesitation didn't last for long though, and soon the Absol picked up speed to travel down the slope.

That was, of course, until a Boldore shifted from beneath her paws and forced her to leap backwards. Apparently the Rock-type was fed up with how it was stepped all over so many times by the Absol, Ryo, and even Fenrir. Now the Pokemon was rising and, upon finding that the Absol was with Ryo, stomped a "foot" down in an irritated challenge.

Fenrir looked at the Lookout pokemon sitting down slightly embarassed at the praise he was recieving from the Watchog. He then started to scratch his ear in thought as the watchog promised to help him in any way he could. Fenrir shook himself off dislodging any dust that was in his fur asking if the watchog would help convince the Absol to join up with him and Ryo. He knew how much it would make Ryo happy so he thought to try what he could.

When the Boldore moved and stamped its challenge Ryo drew out a poke ball knowing full well it was useless as his strongest pokemon was past this obstacle. He looked down at the poke ball in question this was Kami's ball he knew she was tough but he also knew that she wouldn't stand a chance.

He looked over at the Absol with a curious face "How do we get around this big guy?"

((Sorry for the delay.))

The Watchog blinked in surprise at the request, for it wasn't like the Lookout Pokemon to play the diplomat. He was more of the scout than anything, as he grew up as such, and much preferred providing gossip information that he managed to spy. Well, this was the Houndour that saved him, so the Watchog decided that he would give it his best shot. What was the worst that could happen, besides the Absol trying to kill him?

With that decision made, the Normal-type bid Fenrir to follow and he'd find the Absol in no time. It was his sharp eyes, after all, that made him the best scout in the mountain. Even now, he was standing as tall and straight as possible as he looked around in search of the Disaster Pokemon.

What he spotted, however, was nothing short of trouble brewing, and that was trouble heading toward Fenrir and the Watchog. Apparently a Geodude and Machop weren't keen about the pair of them hanging around on their ground, especially after dropping so much of the mountain down. It seemed a battle was on the way.

Meanwhile, Absol was regarding the Boldore warily, for a fight was not something she wanted. The fact that the trainer beside her wasn't keen about a battle either made it clear to her that accepting this Rock-type's challenge would be a waste. With a sigh, the Dark-type threw up a Double Team, forming several copies of herself, and circled the now uncertain Boldore.

The Rock definitely didn't realize that it was up against several Absols instead of just one, and that certainly made things more difficult. What would it do if all the Dark-types attacked? While the Boldore tried to work out a strategy as to fight off all the Absols, each Dark-type glanced discreetly toward Ryo and gestured with the flicker of their eyes to creep around.

The hope was that he would make it all the way around without calling attention to himself.

((You can decide whether or not you do attract the Pokemon's attention. Sorry if this is lame.))

((don't worry about it. and no it's not lame))

Fenrir nodded his head happily and when he was bid to follow he was certainly ready. He knew that this pokemon's eyes were some of the best around and he knew the terrain better than anyone. He looked around trying to see if he could catch a glimpse or a trace of Ryo, he was becoming worried for his trainer's safety.

His nose caught wind of trouble and he glared in the direction. The geodude and Machop got closer and Fenrir growled viciously taking an aggressive stance. He leaned his head back and howled out his challenge also powering himself up for the incoming battle.

Ryo was amazed at the intellegence of the beautiful Absol he was working with. He nodded his head and was about to move when he heard the faint echoes of Fenrir's howl. this caused him to move a bit faster. In fact too fast as he caught the attention of the Boldore who stomped his foot hard enough to shake the ground and cause Ryo to stop. He cussed under his breath lightly "no choice then...." he threw down the ball and out came Kami growling fiercely at the rock-type that was her new target.

Seeing as how it was a battle that was about to be had, the Watchog visibly hesitated. To be honest, as it verbally admitted to Fenrir, battles was not something this particular Lookout Pokemon was fond of. In fact, the only reason he was a Lookout instead of a Scout was because he had been lucky. Well, lucky to an extent; he wouldn't have had to evolve if it wasn't for the problem he had somehow gotten involved in at the time.

But anyway, the point was that Fenrir was pretty much on his own in this fight. Granted, the Normal-type would attempt to be of minor assistance, but that was probably about all he could manage. In fact, the Watchog even decided that he would start things off, and he did so by kicking up a Sand-Attack at the Geodude and Machop.

The timing was great, surprisingly enough, for the Geodude had chosen to Tackle the Normal-type. While the Geodude was busy being blinded by all the sand however, the Machop focused on Fenrir and motioned for the canine to make a move, all the time Leering arrogantly. As far as this Fighting-type was concerned, there was nothing to worry about because it had the advantage.

While that battle went underway, the sudden battle against the Boldore was just starting. Alas, Absol's attempt to protect her human companion ended in vain, and the challenge was accepted with much reluctance. Still, it was a relief that the Disaster Pokemon at least had the Double Team up, and she even had a fellow Dark-type at her side to help defend the human.

With a patient growl, the Absol instructed her Poochyena companion to be wary, for Boldores were well known for their strength and defense. At that moment, the Rock-type took on a metallic sheen and, as if to emphasis her point, activated an Iron Defense. Letting a soft sigh escape her, the Absol then used Swords Dance; the scythe-like horn upon her head shone white and grew in size as the Absol's power increased.

Fenrir looked over at the watchog with a bit of fear as he just realized how at a disadvantage he was at. but he wasn't about to quit not now he had to prove to Ryo, and especially to Yuki he was strong enough to handle this.

He barked defiantly and shook off the leer without any trouble. he opened his mouth and turned his head to the geodude unleashing a large torrent of Ember against the Rock-type. He knew better than to openly attack a pokemon who was ready and waiting.

Ryo looked at the absol with increasing joy at how powerful she was. Kami nodded her head and howled increasing her own strength. Once she was powered up she ran at the Boldore in a zig-zag pattern she knew she had speed over this clumsy opponent but she wouldn't be rash.

Ryo thought a moment and frowned he knew she didn't know any attacks that would help. Kami growled as she ran towards the Boldore with a Take down ready to strike.

The Watchog was immensely relieved when Fenrir spit some Embers at the Geodude. For some reason that creepy rock was absolutely determined to hurt the Lookout despite all the Sand-Attacks used to absolutely blind it. At least now, with the Geodude busy waving away the flames that appeared to little more than irritate it, the Watchog scampered over and made to kick up sand at the Machop this time.

The Geodude was definitely irritated about some dog spitting fire at it. Granted, the attack was decent enough in matters of strength, but still this particular Geodude knew what it was doing. For one, it was trying to defend its territory; the bonus was that it would vent some frustration. Once the flames were patted out, the Rock Pokemon turned its attention to Fenrir.

With a huff, the Pokemon slammed a hand against the ground, gripped it, and somehow pulled a rock out from the earth. Immediately after doing so, the Geodude sent it flying via Rock Throw and aimed for the Houndour. While the Geodude did this, its Machop partner made slow progress towards the Watchog through the Sand-Attack.

Eventually the Machop managed a Low Kick and sent the Normal-type sprawled across the ground, gasping in pain. Thankfully though the Watchog wasn't about to give up there, and desperately his eyes lit up with a ghostly purple before the Machop abruptly staggered sideways. Watchog used Confuse Ray.

As that excitement continued, a rather dire situation made itself known back up on the mountain trail. The Absol was finished with her Swords Dance, the Boldore ready for any physical attack thanks to the Iron Defense, and the Poochyena appeared to be rushing at the Boldore with a Take Down in mind. If anything, the Disaster Pokemon didn't approve of the choice of attack.

Still, there was nothing she could do about that, and instead she focused her attention on the Boldore itself. While the one called "Kami" more or less distracted the Ore Pokemon, Absol would concentrate on an attack she was sure would get the job done. It was a good thing that the Boldore really was distracted by Kami.

Though it was a distraction that was more amusing than anything else, for the Pokemon was aware of its incredible defense. Because of this, it came as no surprise that the Take Down proved to do little to the Ore Pokemon, if anything at all. And now, with the Poochyena so close, it was decided that now was the time to attack.

Now it would use Mud-Slap; slowly it lifted a "leg," and used it to miraculously produce enough mud to kick up at Kami.

Fenrir growled as he the rock throw hit him in his attempt to dodge and sent him sprawling. This was not good and he knew it but he wasn't about to give up. He opened his mouth and another torrent of embers were sent towards the rock pokemon.

He was a bit relieved when the Machop became confused, but he knew it was only a temporary condition, and that sooner of later the real fight would have to happen. He hoped his partner could handle the machop. Even though the type disadvantage was plainly obvious.

Back up the Mountain a ways Ryo growled in frustration as the ore pokemon's mud-slap sent Kami rolling backwards eventually stopping just before she hit a rock. As she rose she was suddenly struck with a dizzy spell and Ryo realized it was the after shock of the Take down now coming into effect.

His face twisted in anger as he realized the rookie mistake he had made. Well no more he decided he had to try and play this one smarter with the pokemon he had.

Yahoo! Watchog was starting to get pumped, though it wasn't because he was at an advantage in the battle. Rather, he was excited to see that one of the two opponents would temporarily be out of commission. Because of that, there was a chance that he and his Houndour companion would be able to somehow slip out of this battle to resume their search.

Unfortunately however, neither Geodude nor Fenrir appeared ready to back down in the fight. In fact, as Fenrir used more Embers, the Geodude looked away due to its cocky gloating of striking the pup. That, of course, left it wide open for the Fire-type attack and left the Geodude having to pat out the flames once more. Irritated with the Houndour's attacks, the Geodude intelligently used Defense Curl; as if that would protect it from future fire.

At the same time as this, its Machop companion was stumbling toward the Watchog and swung a vengeful fist at the Normal-type with Revenge on its mind. Thankfully the Lookout Pokemon saw this coming, having judged what the Superpower Pokemon was planning based on the subtle movements of its body. With a deep breath, the Watchog unleashed an irritating Screech that greatly disoriented the Machop.

While the Watchog swiftly scampered out of reach of the Machop, the battle far above became heated.

The Boldore felt confident, perhaps a little over-confident after striking the Poochyena with Mud-Slap. Because of this, the Ore Pokemon concentrated on the small Dark-type and prepared to strike. Thankfully though, the Boldore hesitated as Absol chose then to hover over her current ally.

As the Boldore continued to watch in wary silence, Absol decided to take the chance and assist her small Dark-type companion. With that in mind, the Absol's dark blue gem-like spot on her forehead took on a luminescent glow and she lowered her head to gently tap the pooch. She was using Baton Pass.

Upon making contact, little Kami would suddenly become stronger and feel all the more agile in terms of evasion. This, so Absol hoped, would help wondrously with the battle, though fighting the Rock-type was still an iffy idea as far as the Disaster Pokemon was aware. Her thoughts on the matter would end there however, for the Boldore had prepared to strike.

This time the attack was a Rock Blast, and the Boldore executed this by stomping a "leg," which dislodged a rock from the ground, and kicked it toward both the Absol and Kami. The Rock Blast would continue three more times, and holes would be produced around the Boldore in the process.
