Tina's first stop in Brevis Village should have been the Pokemon Centre, but instead it was the laundrette. Although her jeans were dry she couldn't ignore that faint sour smell of her own body fluids and couldn't stand another minute of the shame of having wet herself earlier. Being clean was the only thing that was going to make her feel better. In his state of suspended animation, she figured her injured totodile wouldn't be in any pain inside his pokeball. Clean and dry, she could finally relax and breathe easy. The little village had a cosy, country feel about it. Not exactly her scene, but it seemed safe and inviting anyway. The pokemon centre wasn't hard to find and when she saw it she made a run for it. Getting Osvaldo healed was her next priority. The inside of the pokemon centre was sleek and modern, not quite in the style of the rest of the village. It wasn't too busy, to be expected of a small village. The few other pokemon trainers seemed to have already been attended to, so Tina made her way to the front desk and called for the nurse. “Hello?” Tina called, leaning over the counter with Osvaldo's pokeball in her left hand. “My pokemon needs checked out.” The nurse approached sleepily. “Oh... sorry. It's been awful...” She paused to cover her yawn with her hand before continuing, “... slow today. How may I help you?” Tina rolled her eyes at having to repeat herself. “I said my pokemon needs checked out.” The nurse tried to keep a professional demeanour but seemed slightly taken aback by Tina's rudeness. “Well, um... Why don't you give me his pokeball and we'll put him on the machine?” Tina handed the pokeball over to the nurse without saying a word. The nurse carried the pokeball over to the regenerator and placed the ball into one of the six slots. There was a flash, much like that of a scanner machine, before a 'ding' signified that the job was done. The nurse took the ball and handed it back to Tina. “One of Professor Redwood's water types?” She asked while handing Tina the ball as she had noticed the blue droplet symbol painted on the surface of the capsule. “He gave it to me!” Tina snatched and held it close, paranoid that the nurse was accusing her of stealing it. “O-of course he did.” The nurse agreed awkwardly, before deciding she's had enough of this girl's attitude and walked away a bit bemused. Tina kept staring at the nurse until she was out of sight, before turning her attention to her totodile's pokeball. Her intention was simply to make sure the job had been done properly, and that her totodile was ready to battle again. She tossed the pokeball onto the floor to let Osvaldo out. In a flash of red light the little green crocodile appeared. He stood with his back to Tina, looking around the Pokemon Centre and wondering where he was, before turning around and seeing his trainer. He seemed a lot more relaxed now, but hardly happy to see Tina. He folded his arms and flicked his head to one side to convey his indifference. That's when Tina saw it - he still had a chunk missing from his right brow. It was sealed and scarred, but it hadn't gone away. To Osvaldo's surprise, Tina grabbed him and lifted him up so that he was standing on the counter. “Hey, nurse!” Tina called angrily. The nurse walked up to the counter warily bracing herself for some kind of backlash from this rude customer. “You didn't do it right!” Tina pointed at the scar on Osvaldo's brow. “Look at that!” The nurse squinted her eyes and closely inspected the scar. “What happened here?” Osvaldo reached up to feel. The sides of his mouth turned up into a smile. He looked rather proud of his new battle scar. “Spinarak bite.” Tina responded bluntly. “Well...” The nurse had a think of the best way to word her answer in such a way that Tina wouldn't get upset. “Sometimes when certain dermal layers are removed, depending on the severity, they can't regenerate exactly as they were before. I'm afraid your totodile can't regenerate the lost tissue, in the same way that you or I would be unable to regenerate a lost hand or leg. He will be left with a scar, I'm sorry.” Tina glared at the nurse, considering her explanation. “Well do something about it then.” The nurse frowned at being ordered by this brattish girl. “There's nothing that can be done short of plastic surgery, and we do not provide that service here. Now, if that will be all...?” Tina grabbed Osvaldo and put him down on the floor before giving the nurse one last annoyed glance, as though it were her fault Osvaldo was left with a scar. Osvaldo, however, couldn't keep his attention off the scar for other reasons. It was a badge of honour, a symbol of the battle-hardened warrior. He almost couldn't wait to find a mirror. Tina took a seat on the bench to compose her thoughts. Subconsciously at the back of her mind, the bratty tough-guy act took a lot out of her and always left her with a bitter taste in her mouth. For a split second her face flashed with remorse before her facial muscles tightened back into a scowl. She couldn't let anyone see that she was anything but tough and mean, no matter how terrible at it she was. If she were to show anything else she feared that she would only be picked on again. |

With Tina's stepping forward with her Totodile at her side and Julian admitting that he only had the Mudkip, suddenly Jayden became unsure of whether or not he was going to win this gang war. "I need your help, Abban." The Wanderer announced as he tossed his Poke Ball into the air and revealed an oddly-colored Swinub. The Swinub known as Abban lifted itself a bit to peer around before thumping back against the ground and yawning. Apparently this wasn't the most excited Pokemon on his team, but if memory served, then it would be the most useful since it was part Ground-type. Suddenly the teen's heart seemed to skip a beat as he once again realized that he was at a serious disadvantage despite his type-advantage: He was mostly clueless about what his Pokemon were capable of. Luckily his demeanor only became more threatening the more he started to realize just how terrible of a position he was in. "Ai, Aran, Screech. Abban..." At that, the boy hesitated before requesting for a Mud Sport. If he recalled correctly, then the Swinub would be able to use the attack which would hopefully be useful. As the Aipom and Magnemite split up and began to Screech at all the opposing Electric-types, Abban somehow summoned mud around itself to splash around the field. While Jayden's Pokemon all worked on their attacks, the opponents prepared their retaliation. As it was, the Electabuzz was determined to battle Aran because the Magnet Pokemon attacked its trainer. The Plusle turned to face Osvaldo, the Flaffy was instructed to concentrate on Ai, and the Electrike Leered dangerously at Abban. Four Pokemon versus four Pokemon it seemed, but there was still the terrible fact that all the opponents were in possession of more Pokemon. Because the thugs had been a group for a while, their attack formation proved to be quite organized. When the Electabuzz was instructed to use Swift, all the other Pokemon were ordered to use Swift as well. It would have been amusing to the Wanderer if it wasn't for the fact that there was an awful chance of him failing to protect these rookie trainers. |

It took a moment for Julian to realize what was happening. Two trainers, ones he didn't know, were about to battle because of something he did. Even worse, they didn't leave a Pokemon for him to fight. He would be in their debt forever! Julian gave Ohm a quizzical look. Ohm returned it with a determined nod. "Are you sure?" "Kip." "All right." Julian set Ohm on the ground right before all four Pokemon used swift. Ohm, battered with star-shaped shards, whimpered a bit. Julian scowled. "Don't let them get away with that! Use water gun on the four-legged one!" He wasn't going to let himself be helpless. He didn't have any money, nor did he have the status to get away with something like this. He was just a kid with some Pokéballs, one set of passably clean clothes, and a stupid trap. Ohm, who had by then heard a little more of Julian's history, spewed water at the electrike's eyes. This was not Osvaldo's first battle, but it was Tina's first chance to actually issue commands. Although clearly outnumbered, Tina was naively unconcerned. For some inexplicable reason she had utmost confidence in Jayden even though she hardly knew him or his capability. Perhaps she assumed so much that every trainer will be better than her, or perhaps it was Jayden's willingness to step in to the fight first. Then she noticed the other trainer, the stranger that had caused this to happen. He too sent his pokemon out into battle, knowing that the odds were stacked against him. His attempt to redeem himself didn't go unnoticed, and Tina felt just a bit less bitter towards him. If he could put up a good fight, perhaps Tina might just forget about the whole thing. Every opponent gave their command to attack, each one assaulting with Swift. Each of the electric types fired glowing, razor-sharp stars at a speed that was impossible to dodge - Osvaldo, like the mudkip, was battered by a barrage of these stars of energy. They knocked him off his feet and onto his back, crying in pain. For Osvaldo this was only the start. Still growling in agony he rose to his feet, in which time the worst of the pain was passing. It seemed that the plusle had delivered the attack, deciding that it wanted Osvaldo to be its opponent. Tina, embarrassingly, didn't know Osvaldo's moves at all. However she wasn't going to make this weakness obvious to her opponents. She put on her best poker face and commanded to Osvaldo: "Osvaldo, attack it with your teeth!" It was a typical rookie move - she was giving her pokemon a vague command in order to find out what her pokemon was capable of. It didn't allow any room for strategy. Osvaldo rolled his eyes at Tina's incompetence and decided to ignore her command. He did what he felt was the best course of action for this type of situation. He knew he stood little chance in a head-on fight, seeing as the Plusle was likely to be far more experienced. However he knew for the time being he could offer support for his new allies and weaken his own opponent. He opened his mouth and released a deafening Screech, forcing Tina to cover her ears. The look on her face was one of shock and anger at being disobeyed. Osvaldo's hope was to lower the plusle's defence and possibly lower the guard of one or more of the other electric types the trio were facing, which was a good deal better than Tina's useless order. Because Jayden understood that Swift was an attack unlikely to miss, the boy knew that his only choice was to counter the attacks. "Ai, Swift back, then Sand-Attack all nearby enemies!" The Wanderer ordered seconds before his Magnemite was struck almost painlessly by a Swift attack. At that moment, the teen recalled something about Normal attacks not being very effective against Steel Pokemon. "Aran, Lock On your opponent, and then go for a ThunderWave and a Supersonic!" While Jayden instructed the Magnet Pokemon, his Aipom's Swift attack met with its opponent's Swift attack. Ai refused to stay still during that time however, and quickly used Agility to dash around the Flaffy while kicking up sand to blind the foe. Once the Wool Pokemon was busy trying to clean its eyes, Ai sprinted towards the Electrike and kicked up sand at that Pokemon too. "Abban," Here, the Wanderer paused as he was once again stumped by what his Swinub was capable of. Although he was from Johto, he was more knowledgeable about Hoenn Pokemon, and this left him at a terrible disadvantage. Furiously thinking about what the basic Ground-type attacks were, Jayden managed a "Mud Slap!" before scowling fiercely in his despair. At this rate, he would fail the others because he didn't even know how to use his own Pokemon. As he watched the Electrike whine because of water being squirted into its eyes and waited for his Swinub to do something, Aran went to work. Locking onto its opponent was easy since it didn't move after using Swift; it was finding a chance to use the following attacks that proved difficult. The Electabuzz's trainer was absolutely adamant about not letting the Magnemite touch the Electric Pokemon. First the Electric-type was instructed to use Quick Attack to keep on its toes, and then it was ordered to set up a Light Screen. Thankfully the Electabuzz was forced to stop to make the Light Screen, or else Aran would not have attempted anything for a long while. As soon as the foe slowed to a stop, Aran let out a vicious ThunderWave that easily struck its target. After this, a piercing Supersonic reached the Electabuzz and immediately confused it. Things were looking good- even on Abban's end of the battle. Ohm's distracting the Electrike was good for Abban, for the Pokemon was incredibly slow to get started. The Mud-Slap proved to be easy for the Swinub to perform since there was mud all over the battle field from the Mud Sport earlier, and soon the Electrike found itself bombarded by even more mud. While the Electrike struggled with all the mud, Abban spoke with Ohm of a request for a partnership while he tried to fight for his trainer. In retaliation to each of Jayden's Pokemon and Julian's Mudkip, the Electric-types were instructed to fight hard. The Flaffy let loose a Cotton Spore to slow down Ai while the Electrike Howled in frustration before lunging at Ohm with electricity jumping from its fangs. Meanwhile, the Plusle Osvaldo faced struggled to block the Totodile's dreadful Screeching and produced Fake Tears as its ears began to ring painfully. |

((I think I'll start this post with a few haiku.)) Ohm, bound by a bad disadvantage and a strong adversary, Tried to attack the other Pokemon, but her trainer was afraid. Julian stared at the electricity that sparkled around the electrike's teeth. "Use-" no. Water gun would make it worse. Julian didn't know any more of his Pokemon's attacks. There was no way that Ohm could recover from this. "Don't let it hit you!" Julian yelled. "Wait until it's close, and then spray mud in its mouth!" Ohm, after giving a nod to the swinub, concentrated on the electrike. The plan worked - somewhat. Ohm was able to kick the mud at the opponent, but was hit by some of the electricity. It stung worse than the swift attack. Ohm blinked back tears and growled at the electrike, not even knowing that it might lower its attack. Julian, seeing his Pokemon being battered by electricity, grimaced. He wanted to pick her up and run away, but he couldn't do that. "You have to stick it out," he explained. "You can do it!" What could he possibly do for these trainers in return for their assistance? |

"Osvaldo! That wasn't what I told you to..." Tina stopped short of going of into a rant and took a couple of seconds to think. She reached into her backpack side-pocket and took out her pokedex. 'Why didn't I think of it earlier?' she thought, embarrassed. She flipped open the device in one hand and searced up totodile's move pool with the other. "All right, it's called 'Bite'," Tina said, pressing her finger on the display. "Use Bite!" Osvaldo turned his head away in disgust, but decided to go with the command he had been given. It was quite embarasing for him, though. The kid was crying. He felt like a big bully who couldn't pick on anyone his own size. He had to remind himself that the plusle had a tactical advantage and that it was a fair fight, but he just couldn't fully keep his guard up against the little tyke, opening himself to special attacks. Determined to win, Osvaldo jumped towards the plusle and widened his jaws, ready to clamp down upon the positively charged pokemon. While this was unfolding, Tina had the bright idea of taking data on the plusle. It would be sure to help her to come up with even a simple strategy. "Plusle - Cheering Pokemon, electric type. It cheers on friends with pom-poms made of sparks. It drains power from telephone poles. " It's low defence indicated that physical assaults such as bite were probably the way to go. ((Cat, my friend, just want to let you know that you're battling a Plusle. c;)) Now that Ai was back to his battle with the Flaffy, the Flaffy's trainer appeared ready to retaliate. It almost worried Jayden, for the opponent looked genuinely confident in the choice of attacks. When the Wool Pokemon was ordered to use Cotton Spore, Jayden would have dropped to his knees because he was so thankful the attack wasn't serious. if he recalled correctly, the most that attack would do was slow his Aipom down. Ai could handle that. "Agility," Jayden ordered as the spores surrounded his Pokemon and momentarily blinded it. "Then go in for an attack." That last statement was vague, he knew, but he didn't want to limit Ai to using a specific attack. As far as he knew, the Aipom had a better idea as to what attack to use. So, deciding to leave it up to his Pokemon, the teen then turned to see how his Magnemite was doing. As it was, during the time it took for him to study Ai's battle, his Magnemite was struck by another wave of Swift attacks. Aran, being ever-so-loyal to Jayden's word, didn't even budge. There wasn't a single thought of retaliation coursing through the Electric-Steel type's mind despite it knowing well that the approaching Electabuzz was probably going to destroy it. "Aran, distract that Electabuzz! Don't let it near you!" At that, the Magnet Pokemon blinked a couple times. How to distract the opponent so it won't be able to get any closer? An idea crossed the Pokemon's mind and if it was capable of it, then Aran would have smiled pleasantly. In a blinding flash, the Magnemite's body suddenly became reflective. If that wasn't distracting, then Jayden didn't know what was; however it didn't end there. The sheen of Aran's body quickly dropped off until there was an orb of reflective glass hovering below the Magnemite. It was due to the Magnemite's magnetic pull that the orb stayed in place, and it was also because of the pull that Aran managed to fire the Mirror Shot. Because the Electabuzz couldn't see very well due to the Mirror Shot, the attack met its target swiftly and easily. Due to Jayden's being distracted by Aran, Abban found that he was without orders. Because of this, the Swinub chose to take matters into his own paws and turned to face Ohm. With another Mud Sport, the Pokemon coated his ally so that electric attacks would be even weaker than they already were. During the time it took to form that armor of mud, Ohm's tears did make the Electrike hesitate. But it was a brief period of hesitation, for suddenly its trainer demanded the Pokemon use Spark. With electricity surging through its fur and wildly arcing from its body, the Electric-type finally lunged at Ohm, though it didn't get a chance to meet its target. Abban, determined to protect his more vulnerable ally, chose then to crawl forth and take the hit. It was that moment that Jayden turned his attention to the Ground-type and saw what happened. Knowing fully well that the electric attack did nothing to his Swinub, the teen flashed an intimidatingly fierce smile and softly ordered his Pokemon to counter. "Hit it with mud." With such a vague order, the Swinub found he still had control of what he wanted to do. Because of this, Abban hurried to create a Mud Bomb, though there was no way the Pokemon would finish it before the Electrike would be ordered to attack again. At this point, it was up to Ohm to either protect him or fight for him. Meanwhile, Tina's battle seemed to greatly favor her instead of give her an unruly struggle. At least, it did. The Bite was painful, incredibly painful, but the Plusle was determined not to flinch. Instead, the Plusle let out an indignant squeak as electricity started to form around the Pokemon's cheeks. It was prepared to shock Osvaldo with a powerful Discharge attack. If the Totodile wasn't quick to move, then the Discharge would surely strike him. Luckily, however, it wouldn't be as powerful as it should have been thanks to Abban's Mud Sport from early on in the battle. |

Julian soon realized that it wasn't the time to worry about returning favors. When Jayden's Pokémon protected his, he realized his optimal move would be to do the same, but that wasn't with regard to what Julian would owe the trainer. "Ohm!" Julian commanded. "Don't let it get hit!" In response, the mud-covered Ohm moved in front of the swinub, trying her best to look intimidating. Julian clenched his fists. His Pokémon was going to be hurt. Ohm seemed to be thinking the same thing, but at the last moment aimed a Water Gun at the elektrike's eyes again. Meanwhile, Julian glanced around the battle field, and then looked at his Pokémon. She was at a disadvantage against electric-type attacks, right? She seemed to be holding up considerably well. If another attack hit Ohm, he would ask, "Shouldn't she be hurting a lot more by now?" |

The little mouse-like pokemon's soft inner skeleton bent close to breaking point under the bite. Osvaldo couldn't help himself - it was raw, reptilian instinct and he couldn't fight it. He felt the ends of his teeth sink down into the fur, then the flesh, as the muscles in his jaws seized up. This was not prey, but Osvaldo wanted so badly to use his full biting force and render the creature lifeless. However, such a small, frail pokemon didn't get by in this world on cutes alone, otherwise they would all have been eaten by totodile and other predators. Only a split second of tingling in his mouth gave him any warning of what was about to happen, but before he could muster up enough willpower to let go of the plusle his body was overcome with a violent shock of electricity. He couldn't hear the snapping and crackling of electricity over the low-pitched rumbling sound of every muscle in his body contracting simultaneously. They contracted beyond cramping - he felt as though his body was going to tear itself apart, before the plusle finally stopped the current. Osvaldo's jaw dropped open, allowing the plusle to escape. The little green totodile collapsed on the ground, twitching and shaking, still trying to regain control over his own nervous system. When he emerged from his stunned state he lifted his head and glared at the plusle with fiery red eyes. He felt weak but he pulled himself up onto his feet and snapped his head found towards Tina. "To-da!" He barked, snapping her out of her scared daze. It angered him - she wasn't the one who had just taken a full on electric shock. Tina didn't think she looked scared. She was frowning in an attempt to look like she was determined or concentrating, but she had been too nervous and too busy thinking about what could go wrong to consider what she could try to do to help Osvaldo or her allies. Osvaldo tisked angrily and snapped his head back at Plusle. He flexed his claws and started running towards his opponent before jumping into the air at the last second. Using the force of gravity he brought his laws down with the intention of Slashing the plusle's face. |

When Ai was told to "go in for an attack," the Pokemon knew that his trainer didn't have a clue what to do about the Flaffy. This was fine though, because the Aipom was still blinded by the Cotton Spore. As useful as Agility was, it really didn't help with the sight problem, but there was an attack that he knew could. Deciding to use that, the Pokemon then hopped onto his tail and counted on the idea that if he couldn't see Flaffy, then Flaffy couldn't see it. With one powerful push by his long tail, Ai Bounced straight into the air and found that he could see again. He only had a few seconds to take everything in, and so he tried to do so as well as he possibly could. Plusle and Totodile seemed evenly matched, Electrike appeared to be struggling, Aran was apparently doing fine, and the Flaffy was still trying to see through the Cotton Spore as it sent weak Thunder Shocks through the spore to probe around. With that final observation noted, the Aipom positioned himself well enough to at least slam his tail on the Flaffy's head. As it was, he didn't give himself enough time to properly angle himself when he hit the peak of his height. Luckily Ai did have a long tail, and that at least worked out. Better than expected, in fact, for the Flaffy was hit so hard over the head, it was knocked out. This was guaranteed when the Pokemon's head slammed against the ground. Now that Ai's opponent was down and out, the Aipom looked warily at the Flaffy's trainer. After the Wool Pokemon disappeared and its owner looked to Ai, it seemed an understanding occurred between the two. If anything, the guy was aware that this purple monkey was ready to destroy whatever else he sent out. This discovered, the guy decided to hightail it out of there and fled back into the Pokemon Center. Satisfied, Ai then turned to see how Jayden and Aran were doing; it seemed the two needed his help. Despite the Mirror Shot from earlier, the Electabuzz was still doing pretty well. With a Swift attack, the Pokemon managed to locate where Aran was floating because of the solid 'thunk thunk thunk' that signaled the Magnet's being hit. To follow that Swift attack was a Shock Wave- only used because it would also track down the Magnemite. After each hit, the Electric Pokemon dared to step forward to close the gap between it and Aran. It was clear enough to Ai that his trainer didn't know what to do about this, for he never dealt with such a thoughtful trainer before. Aware that he had no choice but to help, Ai let out a dreadful Screech which, thankfully, disoriented the Electabuzz. This gave Aran a chance to strike, and the Pokemon was determined to do so. Unfortunately though, the Pokemon was a bit thoughtless with its choice of attacks, and soon it rushed at the unsuspecting Electabuzz with a Spark at the ready. What happened next played out in slow motion and ended with Aran being defeated. The Pokemon did slam into the Electabuzz and miraculously inflict paralysis on it, but that was the best Aran could do. With the Pokemon so close and its position quite obvious to the Electabuzz, the Magnemite's defeat was inevitable. A Cross Chop on the "head" was all it took, especially because it was such a critical hit. Now the battle narrowed down to Ai and the Electabuzz. Guilty about his Magnemite's defeat, Jayden deliberately looked away to focus his attention on Abban and the Mudkip. Just when the Electrike was about ready Bite Abban, it was blinded by Ohm's Water Gun attack. This gave the Swinub just enough time to release the Mud Bomb. Because the Electrike had faced two Pokemon, it came as little to no surprise that the green dog gave up the fight and turned tail. Its trainer led it into the Pokemon Center in hopes of protecting the Pokemon. "Abban, help Ai," Jayden instructed as he gestured to how the Electabuzz was Leering at Ai while the Aipom threatened it with Swift. Abban, noticing this, nodded. Before starting his slow pace to assist Ai though, the Swinub turned its attention to Ohm and thanked the Mudkip. With a snuffle, the Ground-Ice type inquired if the Water-type would join him in assist the Aipom. While Abban waited for a response, Jayden heard Julian's question and felt a bit relieved that Abban's Mud Sport worked. At least, he hoped it was because of the Mud Sport that Julian's Pokemon wasn't too badly hurt. "Mud Sport weakens electricity." The Wanderer informed the younger boy; it almost felt good to actually know something. Almost felt good as Osvaldo's Slash attack felt bad. There was no escaping that attack, for the Totodile's fury seemed to make the Plusle hesitate in fear. The Pokemon barely managed to produce Fake Tears before Osvaldo Slashed down its forehead and left a terrible gash. That was it, there was no way the Cheering Pokemon's trainer was going to battle Tina. Without a second thought, the trainer returned the Plusle to its Poke Ball and fled into the Pokemon Center. Now only the Electabuzz was left, and if Osvaldo was to assist the others, then the lone opponent would be severely outnumbered. With any luck, then the Pokemon would also be heavily outmatched. |

"Mud sport weakens electricity." Julian nodded. "Thanks." The trainer was obviously knowledgeable. Maybe Julian could learn from him sometime. "All right, Ohm. Only that one left. Try this one on your own. Remember: it's weak to mud." Ohm replied that yes, of course she would help the aipom. She thought for a moment about what Julian had told her. Try it on her own? She wasn't sure, but when she saw the electabuzz preparing to attack, she realized she would have to act fast. Julian clenched his fist. He had given a bad command. Before he had a chance to revise it, however, Ohm ran and leapt toward the electabuzz, preparing to tackle it. Julian smiled. His Pokémon was doing well. He, however, was still not. "Hey, trainer," he addressed Jayden. "Can someone get anything to eat around here?" he asked, trying very hard not to think of the restaurant. Am I wrong? Does Julian know Jayden's name? |

Osvaldo's attack landed on the mark, producing a bleeding gash across the plusle's forehead. Fake Tears ran down its face, making Osvaldo wonder if he had been just that bit too harsh. He hated to appear like a bully who only picked on smaller pokemon. Though he could see the plusle still had some energy left, its trainer decided to bail while his pokemon was still conscious. Before the fight could continue the plusle was sucked into the pokeball as a red beam of light and the trainer fled. Tina pumped her fist excitedly and hissed a "yes!" out through her teeth. She turned her head towards the commotion close by - the electabuzz and its trainer were the last opponents standing. Facing them were Jayden and the other boy she hadn't caught the name of. Ai, the aipom she had met earlier, was still standing alongside a small brown mammal pokemon unfamiliar to Tina. The other boy's pokemon, the mudkip, was also facing the electabuzz, which made a sudden movement. In response, the mudkip ran up to attack. Tina ran towards them driven by her boosted confidence and blundered into the fight holding her pokedex for strategy ideas. Osvaldo followed shortly after, his small legs making it difficult to keep up. He gulped anxiously at the sight of the bee-patterned electric primate before making fists and poising himself to attack. Tina was too busy checking the electabuzz's pokedex data to order an attack straight away. "It windmills its arms to slightly boost its punches. Foes have been known to escape in the meantime." If the electabuzz here used that fighting style, Tina knew that it was just a matter of timing her pokemon's attacks and dodges. However in her inattentiveness Osvaldo decided to simply go ahead with the battle. He knew that he stood little chance against the electabuzz so he tried something that he had never tried before. He'd seen it, but knew it was only for well-developed teeth and jaws, which as a still-growing juvenile he didn't have. It was going to be an all of nothing attack, known as the Crunch. The electabuzz and mudkip went at each other and Osvaldo saw an opening in this, leapt up towards the electabuzz and put all of the power he possibly could into the bite in order to Crunch flesh and bone. |

((If you find something I wrote to be something akin to gibberish, I apologize. On that lovely note, please point it out to me so I may try to decipher it.)) "Eat?" Jayden repeated as he peered down at Julian. "Doesn't the Pokemon Center serve food...?" He wondered, clearly uncertain about this, but it could have honestly been brushed off with the idea that he rarely stayed at a Pokemon Center. "There's a restaurant somewhere in the village... never been to it myself so I can't point it out." As he realized that the kid called him a "trainer" instead of his name, an outraged cry escaped one of the nearby Pokemon. It sounded like it was uttered from one of the still battling Pokemon, either Ai or Electabuzz. The battle between Aipom and Electabuzz was surprisingly heated. As it was, the two were practically dancing as the Electric Pokemon threw wild swings, Cross Chops to be precise, and the Long Tail Pokemon deftly leaped in and out of the Electric-type's way to counter with Fury Swipes. Unfortunately neither Pokemon was really hitting the other, but a chance did snake its way into their battle just when they were about to believe it wouldn't end. Ohm, the precious little girl, chose to jump into the battle with a Tackle, but because the difference in strength was terribly obvious, the Mudkip's attack pretty much just glanced off. Still, that was enough to distract the Electabuzz, for it knew when it was under attack by more than one Pokemon. It was in that moment that Ai summoned a close-up Swift attack. As the Electabuzz stumbled back in surprise, Ai jumped away to stand beside Abban. At the same time as this, the daredevil Totodile, Osvaldo, lunged at the large opponent and attempted to chomp down on it with a Crunch attack. While this did a bit more damage than Ohm's Tackle, it still wasn't powerful enough to concern the Electabuzz. Osvaldo was, after all, still too young and inexperienced to use a powerful Crunch. But that was fine, for it wasn't brute strength that was needed at the moment. Abban seemed particularly aware of this fact, and shook his body. It almost looked like he was cold- so cold, in fact, that he was starting to produce a Mist. With a Mist now covering the field, the Electabuzz was at a further disadvantage because it couldn't see its smaller opponents. But the group of small Pokemon could see it just fine. Jayden was amazed that his Swinub was capable of such an attack, but he knew he had to focus. He recognized this sort of setting, and suddenly he understood what his Swinub was doing. "We'll wear the Electabuzz out," He announced, his voice strong and confident, "If you don't back down now, there won't be mercy." Now here was a tone that he recognized: it was just like his mother's when their gang had the upper hand. Surrender now or suffer the consequences. But the Electabuzz's trainer was uncertain about whether or not Jayden was bluffing. As if to confirm this, the Electabuzz was ordered to use a Discharge, and suddenly the Mist lit up as the Pokemon's attack wildly scattered. If any of the smaller Pokemon happened to be struck by the attack, then hopefully the shields of mud would be enough to keep them conscious. Edited by Key2dawn, Jun 26 2012, 02:55 PM.

"The Pokémon Center? The place we just left?" Julian glanced at the building, terribly confused. "They serve food there?" Do they have any left over? Ohm, meanwhile, had distracted the electabuzz, but at a price. Electricity coursed through her small body, tightening her muscles. She had been paralyzed. She whimpered through the mist, knowing that any attack would hit her hard, especially one that hit the whole field. Discharge took almost all of the health that she had left. Julian, hearing his Pokémon's distress, almost jumped into the middle of the attack and pulled her out, but he still had a debt to repay. He clenched his jaw. "Hang on in there, Ohm." |

Despite the fact that the electabuzz was facing several opponents, it didn't look deterred. After withstanding multiple attacks it didn't even look roughed up any. Osvaldo leapt back from having delivered his Crunch, growling and scowling in disappointment at himself. It was just then that he realised that he had pulled a muscle in the side of his face trying to perform the Crunch, and he didn't even know if he was going to manage a regular Bite any more. Even clenching his teeth together was painful. Tina still seemed like she was smiling. It was an oblivious smile. She actually didn't know how well the battle was faring and automatically assumed that just because the electabuz was outnumbered, it was losing. She turned her pokedex to the little ground mammal that began to emanate a cold, frosty Mist from its body. "Swinub, Pig Pokemon. Ice and Ground type. It has a very sensitive nose. It can locate mushrooms, berries, and even hot springs buried under ice. " The Mist seemed to make it hard for trainers and larger pokemon, such as the electabuzz, to see at eye-level. Tina didn't realise, however, that it was possible for the smaller pokemon to see under it, and decided to issue to Osvaldo a non-physical attack, much to the relief of his aching jaw. "Osvaldo, use that... that move you used earlier..." Tina trailed her finger across the pokedex page. "Screech, that's it. Lowers defence." Just before Osvaldo executed the attack Jayden stood in and gave the trainer of the electabuzz a chance to surrender. Everyone waited for the trainer to decide. But when he figured that Jayden could be bluffing, the trainer ordered his electabuzz to Discharge electricity in all directions. It was an erratic Discharge, without any aim, and lit up the mist making it blinding to anyone looking in. Osvaldo took a stray shock through his body, shaking and paralysed as the electricity passed through him to the ground When the electricity stopped flowing, Osvaldo was stuck in the same wide-eyed, jaw-open pose as he had been when he first took the attack, except this time he had some smoke flowing from his mouth. "Hey, Osvaldo! Snap out of it!" Tina cried as she realised her pokemon was not moving. Osvaldo tried to turn his head but his movements were jittery and his expression was stuck. Gradually his expression changed and he put on as determined a face as possible while struggling free from the paralysis just long enough to cry out a high-pitched Screech. |

Jayden would have spat out a curse if he wasn't near what he considered to be a couple of children. Instead, he sneered at the Electabuzz's trainer. "Wild Discharges won't save you. Abban, prove my point." Once again he issued a vague order, but this time it was because he was handling the situation as his mother would. Without an explicit order, the target wouldn't know how to react, and this seemed to work just as well for him as it always did for his mother. The remaining trainer was clearly nervous. It was obvious that he realized his mistake just then based on how he took a tentative step away from the battle. Apparently the guy wasn't feeling as cocky as before despite knowing that at least one of the enemies were hit. Taking down one wouldn't save him from three, though he only thought this because he didn't know Ohm was wearing out too. "Last chance to leave," Jayden offered as he crossed his arms and scowled as fiercely as he could. As far as the Wanderer was concerned, it couldn't have been that fearsome, but the Electabuzz's trainer thought otherwise. There was a moment pause as he waited for the guy to make up his mind. When it was clear he wasn't going to decide soon enough, Jayden nodded his head in signal for his Swinub. Just before the Pig Pokemon could throw the Mud Bomb it created, Osvaldo's Screech broke the silence. It came as a surprise to Jayden and his Pokemon, though the youth didn't flinch, but the Electric Pokemon's trainer visibly jumped. It seemed that this was the end of the battle, and Jayden was quite thankful for it. Before the opposing trainer could gather enough of his wits to return the lone Electric-type, Abban released the Mud Bomb and snorted with obvious amusement when it hit the Electabuzz's trainer. That seemed to remind the guy to leave, and soon enough he finally withdrew his Pokemon and hightailed it back into the Pokemon Center. Almost immediately afterwards, Abban's Mist faded to reveal the damage inflicted by that Discharge. Abban didn't feel a thing since he was part Ground-type, and he made this clear when he snuggled down in the pit of mud he created and promptly took a nap. That was definitely Jayden's Pokemon. Ai, meanwhile, appeared to have taken some damage which worried the Wanderer. Jayden wasn't given a chance to ask of the Aipom's condition however, because the Long Tail Pokemon thoughtfully turned its attention to him and revealed a distracted smile. That, too, was definitely Jayden's Pokemon. After he took the moment to return Abban to its Poke Ball and gathered his Aipom, Jayden turned to his two companions. "You two fought well." Because he was dealing with two trainers that were obviously rookies, he felt that praise was in order. Despite the odds being against them, the two trainers actually defeated electric Pokemon. |

"You two fought well." Julian scrambled to pick up his Pokémon. His eyes widened. "N-no, sir," he stammered. "It was all Ohm and your advice." Ohm was in his arms now, but Julian was far from calm. "Anyway, that - it was all my fault, so please," he babbled as he knelt in the mud and tilted his head forward again so his neck was exposed. "Make it quick. I have to get Ohm healed." Julian shivered. Once more, he was in a debt he could not repay. He had promised to keep Ohm out of trouble, but that obviously wasn't happening. If Julian was forced to join another organization, perhaps he could get Ohm back to the lab, or hide her Pokéball somewhere. If Jayden didn't deal with him immediately, Julian would likely realize for the second time that things were different now, stand, and ask what he could do to repay his debt to the two trainers. Perhaps it was possible, he would reason. After all, the two hadn't let him receive the full attack. Perhaps they were kind people, like a friend that Julian knew a long time ago. On second thought, that friend had abandoned him at Team Galactic. Edited by Nameless Deuteragonist, Jun 28 2012, 09:08 AM.

The electabuzz trainer was clearly overwhelmed. Tina grinned, calling victory early. The naive child had no real way of telling how the battle was going to unfold at this point. All she saw was that her opponent was outnumbered and that was all she really saw as being significant. Fortunately for her confidence, she was right this time. One more time Jayden gave their opponent an opening to leave. The arrogant boy must have known things weren't looking so good for him, because he appeared torn between how to answer. Jayden didn't want to give him all day to think about it and after a reasonable length of time passed without an answer he continued the battle by signalling his swinub to make its next move. That's when a piercing screech exploded from the jaws of Tina's own pokemon. Even while she was expecting it the screeching caused her to shiver and her ears to ring afterwards. If she had been paying attention she would have seen it catch the electabuzz trainer off-guard. There was a very subtle change in the trainer's demeanour and he looked about ready to fold. That was it - the trainer must have known that all it would take now would be one or two well-aimed ground attacks to finish the electbauzz off. Hesitating, the trainer watched his pokemon endure a hit by a Mud Bomb attack before returning the pokemon into its pokeball and fled to go heal it. Tina leaned forward, shouting in the most annoyingly obnoxious voice, "You suck!" Osvaldo cringed, but not in embarrassment like he usually did when Tina did something stupid or annoying. His body kept twitching and going into painful spasms. The Discharge had overloaded his nerves. All he wanted to do now was rest and recuperate so that he could be back at full health and ready for battle as soon as possible. Unfortunately for him, Tina hadn't noticed how he was feeling at this point, too high off of victory to pay attention to anyone else. Even with the other trainer's pokemon in clear sight now that the mist had subsided, Tina remained in a daze over the win. Only when Jayden snapped her out of it by talking to her did she suddenly start glancing around to see the aftermath. "Oh... um, thanks." Tina responded absently to Jayden's compliment and still seemed distracted with the feeling in her gut that she was forgetting something important. She looked down at Osvaldo. "Hey, you were awesome!" Osvaldo gave a small grin between twinges of pain. Even though she was an idiot to him, it still felt good knowing that hist trainer recognised his awesomeness. "By the way, you're really cool." Tina said as she turned round to Jayden. "Can we hang out?" Tina glanced briefly at Julian. This battle wouldn't really have happened if it weren't for him, but that hadn't turned out to be a bad thing, had it? She smiled before turning back to Jayden for an answer. |

Jayden stared uncertainly down at the male youth before him. It seemed like the kid wanted to be punished, but there was no way Jayden would hit the kid. Instead, he lifted a hand and placed it reassuringly on Julian's shoulder. "I hope," The Wanderer started, his voice quiet and gentle once more, "That the battle was punishment enough." With this said, his Aipom nodded thoughtfully in agreement as he pulled his hand away and turned to face Tina. The girl wanted to hang out? If she only knew the kind of trouble he attracted, then there was a good chance that Tina would reconsider. But this was Aerei, not Sinnoh, and so the man shrugged his shoulders in response. He wasn't sure about the cool comment, but he was certain that the rookie trainer wouldn't prove to be bad company. In fact, he was sure neither of the two would be bad company, though they did form a group of troublemakers in his mind. "If you like, then we can hang out." Jayden replied in his naturally soft voice. Once this was said, he glanced back down at Julian; if he remembered right, the kid had referred to him as "trainer" instead of his real name. "By the way, kid," The Wanderer addressed Julian, "I'm Jayden, and I'm not a trainer." As he said this, he inwardly cringed at how ridiculous that sounded. As far as most people were concerned, he had to be a trainer. He traveled with Pokemon, participated in battles, and overall looked like a trainer. But he wasn't, there was no way he could ever be one. He didn't know where half of his team came from, what most of them could even do, and Jayden was certain that only two of his Pokemon were technically even his. No, he was not trainer material. |
