"Oh, a doughnut... That looks tasty," Lisa mumbled, her eyes drawn towards the round snack that was glazed over in white and covered in sprinkles. Crunchy also looked that way, but he tugged on Lisa's pants to tell her to move on. Lisa wondered why policemen liked to eat doughnuts with coffee so much, she was completely contented with just the sugary delight. No need to add bitterness to the meal. Suddenly she heard a "Hey" and jumped up, startled. The policeman in front of her pointed his doughnut at her. Crunchy pulled harder on her pants and she turned to run away. Lisa picked up Crunchy on the way so that he wouldn't be left behind. She tried not to pay attention, but she hears the policeman behind her shouting, "Wait, I just need to talk to you. There's this missing girl and you look just like her!" Well, Lisa probably gave herself away anyway by running. Is she going to get in trouble by running away from the law? Oh no, she can't be in prison and be a coordinator at the same time. Oh no oh no... Lisa's thoughts tumbled about in a swirl of chaos as her own legs began to trip over each other. She turned into a small patch of bushes and fell into it ungracefully, falling right onto her face as her legs soon followed her body through the bush and out of sight. Lisa turned to Crunchy, but he shook his head without making the leaves shake, telling her not to move or speak. The sound of heavy footsteps passed through, and she could hear the policeman mumbling through a radio. Another high pitch sound, the sound of a taillow, followed quickly after. Maybe that was the policeman's pokemon... "I think I found her, yeah. The missing girl. Send some people to search for her. Poor parents, teens these days." The last remarks left welts across Lisa's confidence. It was true that she was worrying her parents, but... She just wanted to fulfill her dream. Did it mean anything, though, if she was hurting other people in the process? Lisa squeezed Crunchy in confusion, and he looked at her with a small hint of concern. Lisa then shifted her position in the bush, shaking them so that the leaves fell to the ground and some people stared at it. "That's better," Lisa sighed, settling herself into a sitting position. Crunchy shook his head and motioned to leave right now. Lisa felt safe in this small shelter, though, it shielded her from those scary policemen. But Crunchy was right, she should leave. She poked her head through the bush, startling a meowth that scrambled away quickly. The police were no where in sight, so she quickly came out, dusted herself off from the leaves, and followed Crunchy who was already walking down the road. He seemed more cautious than usual, his snout was in the air and his eyes were sharpened for any disturbances. All seemed fine for a block, but Crunchy suddenly snapped his head towards Lisa after a while and she looked around, wondering what he had sensed. Crunchy growled and blasted a water gun above her head, Lisa ducking in a panic. Then she heard a cry, "Tay! Taillow!" The taillow easily dodged the water gun and dove at Lisa, swooping over her head as she tried to bat it away. "Crunchy, do something! Uh, scratch!" Lisa yelped. Crunchy obliged, but he had trouble landing a hit with the taillow skillfully dodging his moves, and Lisa huddling below trying not to get hit with an attack. Lisa was filled with dread of the possibility of getting sent home, and even worse, loosing her first pokemon. Her parents would never allow her to keep Crunchy after she ran away. She tried to think of a way to help Crunchy attack, but this was her first battle ever, if this was even considered one, and being attacked didn't help at all. The most she could do was trying to avoid being attacked while Crunchy continued to miss his attacks. |

Lisa nodded quickly and went through the entrance that the other trainer had shown her. She felt bad about leaving him behind with the police after her, but what else could she do? She then wondered if the other trainer was alright and if she had put him in a lot of trouble. She sighed and absentmindedly asked Crunchy, "Do you think I'm just someone who causes trouble to those around me?" Crunchy looked at her thoughtfully, but decided to avoid answering the question. "If only I knew how to do stuff without others helping me, maybe it will happen when I'm a coordinator." Lisa pushed through some branches and found herself in the park, just like the trainer said. Lisa wandered around for a moment, wondering where to head next. Crunchy growled at her and he quickly motioned her to duck in between two houses. Lisa jumped into it without question, but she still wondered why Crunchy had ordered her to do so. Concealed in the shadows, she finally realized why when two policemen were casually strolling through the streets. "Huh, so you think the girl had already left the town?" The other officer replied with a shrug, "Probably, we haven't seen her at all. One officer's taillow is acting really strange lately, have you noticed?" Their voices faded and Lisa couldn't hear them anymore. She peeked around the corners of the houses, hoping that she won't bump into more policemen while she headed towards the park like the other trainer had told her to. Seeing no one in her way she quickly rushed towards the north, remembering that she had to head in that direction to get to the next town. The taillow, on the other hand, had to squawk at the policeman to hurry up, who wasn't really sure why the flying-type Pokemon was leading him towards the forest. He thought that there was only this trainer with his aipom that was around there. He was a weird kid, but trainers sometimes did some strange stuff, like that thing with the rattata. |

Now that he and Ai split it up from the girl with the Totodile, Jayden felt like he was toying with the law again. After two or so years of abiding to the rules, the sensation of walking across the thin line became somewhat nauseating. That wasn't the life he liked, though it was the only life he really knew. Thankfully no one in Aerei knew of that. Shaking his head to get that thought of his mind, the boy finally emerged from the bushes and, after a furtive look around, heaved himself onto his feet. Ai was on his shoulders in a heartbeat. "Are we done here, Ai?" The Wanderer inquired as he crossed his arms; it looked as if the guy was irritated, but he was actually far from it. Adrenaline was starting to mess with his senses, and the Wanderer knew that getting out of town was the best way to calm himself down. When the Aipom finally nodded in answer, Jayden let out a bitter sigh of relief. Finally he was free to leave. Determined to not waste any time, he started a brisk pace in what he hoped to be east. Eventually, after leaving the town, he would then angle his path towards Mt. Stella. Now there was a mountain that could be seen from almost everywhere on Aerei. |

The taillow could only look dumbly at the cleared area where the camp had once been. The policeman grumbled, "Okay, no more doughnuts for you for a week. You think this is really funny don't you?" The taillow could only sigh as his partner had already started to walk back into town, defeated. That dumb girl was better at evading him than he thought. He only wished that he would be able to find her again to bring her to the police once and for all. Lisa had finally found the town's exit, a road that went out towards the north. That was surely the way out. In her excitement she ran over there and almost laughed out loud. Maybe she really was meant to go onto this journey. Crunchy was snoring soundly in her arms, tired from the day's events. The sun was setting and the sky reflected an orange tint onto the village. Somehow it reminded Lisa that she had never told the other trainer her name, nor did she receive his. This dismayed her for a bit, he did help her a lot today, and without him she probably would've been caught by the police and sent home. Lisa looked back towards the village and hoped that she might see him again during her journey. Maybe she'll finally be someone who could help herself. Smiling from that thought she walked onto the road, towards the Clearwater Caves. ((I suppose I'll end it there unless you want to write anything more?)) |
