Sleepless in Brevis; The first of (many) sleepless nights

When Risa and Phoenix finally entered Brevis Village, the teen couldn't help but sigh in relief. The last thing she wanted was to be out in the wilderness at night alone with her new-found companion. It wasn't that she didn't trust Phoenix; while she still questioned his motives, she was more put off by the fact that he was male more than anything. At least in the small village, there were some other people about as well.

Next to Risa, Rai yawned, revealing tiny, needle-sharp, white fangs as she did so. The Eevee stretched in a very feline manner, managing to fall behind a few steps from her trainer before darting forward to catch up with ease.

"Um... So, this is Brevis Village..." Risa finally spoke up, breaking the silence that had fallen over the duo. She glanced shyly over to Phoenix, before looking back down at the ground. She raised one hand to fiddle with the necklace she always wore. It was an old nervous habit of hers; playing with either her hair or a necklace. She had always liked necklaces for some reason. While she didn't care for many other types of jewelry, necklaces were comforting to wear.

"I-I'm sure we could rent two rooms to stay the night..." she suggested, looking around for any sign that hinted at a place to stay for the night. It didn't take long for her to pinpoint a relatively small, handpainted sign sporting the words "BREVIS INN." She blinked in surprise, shocked at the ease of finding a place to stay for the night. "H-how about we check there?" she suggested, pointing at the sign and glancing to Phoenix to gauge his reaction.

By this time, the sun had already set, its last rays barely visible behind Mt. Stella's silhouette on the horizon. The small village had hardly any artificial light, allowing for the true beauty of the night sky to be seen. Bright stars were becoming visible overhead in the quickly darkening sky. The sight, of course, distracted Risa for a moment as she took a second to marvel at the beauty of nature. Having grown up in cities her entire life, she loved the sight of a clear night sky free from light pollution, and this was no exception. "It's so pretty..." she breathed, unaware of the fact that she was speaking out loud.

"What, the sign?" Phoenix said, being a smartass. "I'm not much for art, but I suppose it's a pretty sign. Anyways, let's head inside. It's starting to get cold, and *YAAAAAAAAAWWWWN* I'm getting sleepy..." Phoenix and Risa had been walking for quite a while, so naturally they felt tired. They weren't like the cool kids with bikes. Those jerks would sometimes play really loud music whenever they decided to ride around on 'em. Maybe he should stick his foot out sometime and make one of those guys fall over. That'll teach 'em.

Phoenix opened the door and motioned for Risa to enter. He was a gentleman after all, so ladies go first. He was ready to pass out. He couldn't wait to be sleeping in a bed of his own, snuggled up comfortably in the sheets. Yes, after his recent adventure, he deserved a good night's sleep.

When Phoenix responded to her thought, Risa jumped a bit, startled. Had she spoken aloud? Even if she did, he thought she was referring to the wrong thing. The teen seemed oblivious to the sarcasm in his tone. "Um, n-no... I meant the sky..." she stumbled over the words as she quietly spoke them, looking to the ground. "I'm sorry..." As she looked down, she played with her hair nervously, anticipating some sort of anger from Phoenix after she corrected him.

If Risa had one glaring flaw in her otherwise caring, friendly personality, it was her self-esteem. She felt the need to apologize every time she had to correct someone, in fear of them being angry with her. The teen wanted to please everyone, but she often found herself correcting them when they were wrong, too. Especially in misunderstandings. But nobody wants to be told they don't understand something, and she feared that because people didn't want to be wrong, they'd be angry at her for pointing out their mistakes.

When Phoenix yawned, Risa found herself doing so as well. Yawns were contagious, after all. The teen fought the urge to rub at her eyes, not wanting to smear the eyeliner she wore. That would make her look more than worse for wear. As it was, she was already covered in scratches, blood, dirt, sweat, and tears. She felt absolutely disgusting and wanted nothing more than to take a shower. She was certain she looked terrible.

But that was besides the point.

As they approached the door to the inn, Risa was surprised when Phoenix opened the door, gesturing for her to enter first. He actually did that...? She thought chivalry and gentlemanly behavior had died out long ago. Smiling a bit, she entered in front of him with a mumbled, "Th-thank you."

While the outside of the inn was rather bland, the inside was nicely decorated. They must have had a good interior designer, because the soft, inviting shades of blue that covered the walls and furniture matched each other perfectly. It was all rather humbly decorated in almost a minimalistic sense, judging by the few paintings that hung on the walls. The largest one noticeable was the large map of a roughly star-shaped island depicting Aerei.

Risa approached the receptionist's desk, glancing over her shoulder to check if Phoenix was coming as well before she spoke up. "U-um... We're looking for somewhere t-to stay..." she began carefully.

"Oh, of course!" she chimed in, quickly typing into her computer. "Let me see..." She looked at her computer monitor for a moment before flashing a perfect smile at Risa. "You're in luck! We've got a room with a king sized bed open!"

A king sized bed? As in, a single bed? Risa's eyes widened and she shook her head. "N-no! It's n-not like that..." She looked away. "I-I... um, we'd like two separate rooms, please!" Risa looked up to the receptionist with a look of desperation in her eyes. It was obvious that she didn't want to sleep in the same room as Phoenix.

The receptionist frowned. "I'm so sorry! Let me see what we've got available..." She skimmed through the listings on her computer before sighing. "I'm sorry, but it looks like we're actually booked for the night, minus that one room!"

Risa nodded, looking down to the ground nervously for a second before forcing a smile. "Oh, ok...!" She peered over at Phoenix shyly for a second, wondering what his thoughts were on the subject. "Um, w-what do you think?" Perhaps she was overreacting about not wanting to sleep in the same room as him... Or in the same bed. She shuddered a bit at the thought of sharing a bed with some guy she hardly knew. She had never actually slept with a guy before, and she wasn't sure she wanted this to be her first experience... Especially because they had literally just met hours ago.

"Um, well, we can look elsewhere if you'd like... If we can't find another inn, we can come back and I could sleep on the floor. I wouldn't mind, really. I just wanna go to sleep... Yawwwwwnnnnnnn ."

Phoenix rubbed his eyes. He was definitely crashing. As much as he'd hate having to look for another place to stay, it ultimately rested on Risa to decide what to do since he could understand her position. Sure, it could be really awkward, but it probably wouldn't be. After all, he'd pass out in a matter of seconds upon getting cozy. She wouldn't have to deal with him if she didn't want to. Unless him just being there would make her uneasy, which it seems like it would. Great... Seems like he was stuck.

"Well, um, perhaps we can get a coffee really quick and keep searching, Risa. Let's get going before it gets darker. I could sure use some caffeine in my system haha... yaaaawwwwnnn ..."

As much as Risa wanted to go and search for a different room, she couldn't help but feel a little bad for Phoenix. While she felt absolutely exhausted, he seemed like he would pass out at any moment. "A-are you sure...? It'd be no problem i-if we just s-st--" She stopped speaking and looked away for a moment, feigning a quick cough to cover her faltering speech while she built the resolve to flat out lie to Phoenix's face.

"It'd be o-okay if we j-just stayed here if you want..." As she continued to speak, it seemed to get easier for her. "Y-you look exhausted, Phoenix... "

As if to make things harder for the duo, the receptionist frowned. "Sorry to interrupt, but I'm afraid we are the only inn in town!" she sighed. "It's just so small, and most people don't tend to come here very often... There isn't much demand for inns or hotels! It really was odd that today the rooms all filled up..."

Hearing that seemed to seal the fate for Risa and she turned around to Phoenix, faking a smile, quite convincingly. "L-Let's just get this room.... I-I just want to take a shower..." She shrugged, trying to feign indifference to the fact that they'd be in bed together...

Not something she wanted to think about. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath to clear her thoughts before turning her attention to the attendant. "I-- Um, w-we'll take the room please!" She smiled politely at the attendant before picking Rai up off the floor. She buried her face into the warm fur, nuzzling her sleepy Eevee, who seemed just as ready to pass out as Phoenix.

The receptionist smiled sympathetically before nodding. "Of course! That'll be..." she paused to look at her screen and book the room. "150 AD!" She nodded, looking to Risa and Phoenix, waiting for someone to pay.

Risa nodded, pulling out her Trainer Card, which acted sort of like a debit card, and handed it to the woman, who quickly swiped and returned it, along with two sets of keys to their room.

"Your room will be 152, just through that door over there and down the hall," she explained, gesturing to her left.

Risa nodded as she took the keys, handing one set to Phoenix. "T-thank you for your help!" she added to the receptionist with a smile before motioning for Phoenix to follow.

When they got to their room, Risa was surprised at just how big the room was. It had a soft, king sized bed, a nice flat screen tv pinned on the wall, and a separate room with the toilet and large, jacuzzi-style bathtub and shower. Risa looked around before setting her backpack on a desk. "Y-you look so tired... You should sleep," she mentioned off-handedly, hoping he'd take her advice. If he was asleep, then she could take her shower without having to worry about him doing anything to her.

The two teens entered the room. It had a soft, king sized bed, a nice flat screen tv pinned on the wall, and a separate room with the toilet and large, jacuzzi-style bathtub and shower. Phoenix however, did not know this, because as soon as he entered, he collapsed onto the floor. He was out like a light. Or perhaps a wet match in a dark cave. More like that really. He wouldn't be getting up any time soon.

The poor Shuckle in his pocket squeezed out of Phoenix's pocket. The berry juice it had made almost spilled out of its shell, so it was a little irritated. It too, however, was quite tired; the berry juice-making process is quite time consuming and a demanding process for a shuckle. It started inching its way to Risa. The juice was for her, and it had taken a very long time to prepare it. Better late than never.

Risa was facing away when Phoenix fell. At the sound of him hitting the floor, she blinked in surprise when Phoenix fell to the floor, unconscious. Was he okay...? The teen rushed over, genuinely worried, and peered down at him. He appeared to be sleeping... But on the floor...? She glanced from him to the bed, then back to him. Should she wake him and get him to move to the bed? She was unsure what to do... Or how she would move him, for that matter. She wasn't particularly strong, and he was about her size, it seemed. Perhaps slightly taller. Regardless, that ruled her trying to lift him into bed out.

It was at that moment that Risa noticed the Shuckle scooting closer to her. She looked down in curiosity at her before bending down to lift her up. When a bit of juice spilled out of one of the holes, she was shocked. It trickled down her shell and onto Risa's hand. The red color of the juice frightened her. She stifled a scream at the sight of the blood-- wait. It was the wrong color for blood. And it smelled way too sweet.

Was it... juice?

The revelation occurred a bit later than she had hoped for. "Y-you're leaking juice...!" It was at that moment that she remembered that Shuckles were known for making juice that was actually quite nutritious. Pokemon loved it, and it actually had rejuvenating properties.

Risa looked around, unsure where to drain the juice. She didn't want to just dump it down the sink, as the Pokemon had likely worked quite hard to try and prepare it. Instead, she moved over to her backpack, placing the Shuckle down gently on the desk.

Next to her, Rai peered up sleepily, mewling quietly before turning to leap onto the bed. If nobody else was going to take it, she'd be more than happy to oblige. After all, such a large bed seemed comfortable enough. The Eevee yawned before curling up on one side of the bed, leaving most of the large mattress free for at least two or three more people to fit on.

Meanwhile, Risa searched her backpack for something she could put the juice in, frowning slightly when she realized that all she had was an empty water bottle. "U-um... Can y-you put it in here..?" she asked the Pokemon, setting the bottle next to the Shuckle with the cap off. She stacked a few books up before lifting the Shuckle on top of it so she could reach the top. Hopefully, she'd know what to do!

With the Shuckle's berry juice taken care of, Risa moved over to Rai, scratching her head affectionately, only to earn a lick on the had where the juice had spilled from the Eevee. The Pokemon then curled up again, quickly drifting off to sleep and leaving Risa rather alone in the room with the sleeping Phoenix.

Again, she debated what to do, eventually moving closer to Phoenix. She knelt down next to his head extending one hand to tap his shoulder and hopefully wake him. However, she hesitated a moment, her pale hand hovering a few inches from his shoulder and trembling. She took a deep breath before building up the resolve to tap his shoulder. "Phoenix...?" she whispered, "U-Um, don't you w-want to move into... b-bed...?" she had hesitated before saying 'bed,' wincing slightly.

Nyra stretched out on her bed, admiring her perfectly manicured toes as she kicked her boots noisily against the wall. She glanced over at her key, which read Room 153. She yawned and smiled, looking around the nice room, which housed a flat screen TV and a full bathroom. Her bed was comfy too, even if it was only one of two twin sized beds.

Ast, Scat, Ash, and Bowser were sleeping on that one, or rather, Bowser was sleeping on top of the covers, and Ast and Ash were sleeping on top of his belly while it rose and fell. Scat was curled up above his head.

Nyra chuckled, suddenly hearing two new tenants in the next room. Hmm, seems like the place was full tonight. What a great opportunity to go on a little thieving-spree. She'd have to do that tomorrow, however, for she was tired. She grabbed the TV remote and flipped through the channels, stopping on a crime show. She watched it, laughing out loud as the cops stumbled after the criminals. Some people were just too stupid....

Nyra leaned back, watching the show until she drifted off to sleep, a small smirk showing on her lips as she thought about the chaos she'd bring the following day.

((Dododo. Oh, what am I doing here? Short post!))

Brevis Village was a pretty peaceful place, and that made it the perfect place to stop tonight, for Kuzumi had spent a full week just walking, day and night, wandering Aerei. Aeneas, his Umbreon, was exhausted despite the energy received from the full moon far above. The Pokemon was curled around his neck, it resting comfortably on his shoulders, and had just motioned with its tail at a nearby tree when Kuzumi noticed an inn.

"Do you think that place is open? We could get a bite to eat and maybe a bed for you to sleep on for once." The thought of a bed, an actual bed, made Aeneas mewl in delight before it cut itself off to yawn. That was enough motivation for Kuzumi to stuff his apprehension behind a door in his mind and approach the inn.

It was an unfortunate discovery to learn that the inn was full, and even more disappointing when he learned that food was only served to those that had reservations in the inn. As he strode out to wander around the building, Kuzumi rubbed Aeneas's head and ears in affection. "Sorry buddy, I tried." The sadness in his voice was quite apparent as far as Aeneas was concerned, and so the Pokemon licked his cheek in appreciation for the effort.

As Kuzumi continued to move behind the building, something caught his eye in one window and made him hesitate. He thought he spotted an Eevee; the idea was enough for him to turn to the window and press his face against it in search of the Evolution Pokemon. So he did spot an Eevee; if only he could get a better view of the Pokemon so he could determine its gender!

Given how much time he spent with Eeveelutions in the past, Kuzumi was quite confident in how well he judged an Eevee's gender. The very thought of this brought a huge, goofy grin to his face before his stomach growled. That seemed to snap him out of his reverie enough to get the boy to pull away from the glass so he could laugh about how he was hungry.

Aeneas, however, was quite curious about the Eevee. The only Eevee he ever saw was Fluffy, and a long time had passed since then. As far as the Moonlight Pokemon was concerned, this was an exciting discovery! Due to Aeneas's thrill about spotting his pre-evolution, the yellow bands around his body started to glow brighter than earlier. Suddenly Aeneas was full of energy, and the Umbreon eagerly started to paw at the window for attention.

((So... Nick wanted to change the order a bit for posting, so it's gonna go me, Nick, Liz, then Yuki from here on out. x3))

As Kuzumi and Aeneas passed the window, Rai's ears pricked up. She peered blearily out the window in confusion. She saw the face of a male peering in eagerly, which caused her to tilt her head slightly. The Pokemon yawned, revealing her sharp fangs before laying her head back down. The human wasn't particularly interesting, as far as she was concerned.

A moment later, however, scratches at the window made her lift her head again, tail twitching in agitation at the noise. Couldn't that human see she was trying to sleep?! The Pokemon looked out the window, only to see an Umbreon begging for attention, glowing brightly. While the human face was boring, this was actually intriguing, as far as the Eevee was concerned. Rai quickly got up and leaped off the bed, moving to the window and leaping onto the sill to see the Moonlight Eeveelution.

Once on the window sill, the Eevee pawed at the glass eagerly, a curious expression on her face. She had never seen an Umbreon before. She instinctively recognized Aeneas as a familiar species, however, and her tail twitched playfully. Perhaps he would play with her too! They just had to let him into the room... Rai mewled at Risa, turning to look at her trainer over her shoulder as she tried to get the human's attention. Surely, she'd let the Pokemon in to play!

Risa groaned a bit as Phoenix did nothing but snore as she tried to wake him. She sighed and stood to her feet. At least, if he was sleeping, she could go take her shower in peace without having to worry about anything happening. The teen moved to the desk as she slid her hoodie off, revealing a curved frame. She was going through her backpack in order to dig out clean clothes to change into. The ones she was wearing would almost definitely have to be discarded, she realized with a sigh. "Rai... Stop that," she murmured to the Eevee, keeping her gaze on her backpack as she rummaged for various shower items. She assumed that the scratching had been her own Pokemon, as she hadn't noticed the face peering in.

Rai, however, mewled again, louder this time, in an attempt to get her trainer's attention. This time, Risa turned around, brow furrowed slightly in irritation. "I said st--" she began before a loud, piercing scream tore itself from her throat. She took a few steps backwards, arms pulled up to her chest as she realized how vulnerable she was without her body covered up. The last thing she had expected to see was a man and an Umbreon peering through her windows. "GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY!" she screamed, eyes wide with fear as she ducked behind the bed, near where Phoenix was sleeping on the floor.

The teen clutched the hoodie close to her chest, using it as a sort of shield to cover her body as she squeezed her eyes shut, trying hard not to burst into tears as her heart pounded loudly in her chest, pumping adrenaline through her veins. Even though she was still wearing a rather form-fitting spaghetti strap, she felt the compulsive need to cover herself.

At her trainer's outburst, Rai glanced to Aeneas curiously, one ear twitching in apology. Well, if Risa wouldn't open the window, then she could do it herself, she decided. The Eevee studied the window for a moment, and then pushed it open, getting it wide enough for Aeneas to leap in. With the window open, the Eevee leaped back onto the bed, eyes shining playfully as her tail twitched, daring Aeneas to chase after her.

"Holy crap, this is awesome!"

Phoenix was sky-diving, holding a flamethrower in his hands. Around him were strange people. They seemed hostile. Given the circumstances, he knew exactly what to do.

"It's time for a barbecue!!!"

Phoenix squeezed the flamethrower's trigger, jetting flames onto his hapless victims. As each person came into contact with the stream of fire, they exploded in what could only be described as a macabre fireworks display. Phoenix cackled as he found great pleasure in the roasting of the other sky divers. Surely that was what he was supposed to be doing if he was the only one wielding a mighty thrower of flame...

"GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY!"

"Huh? What's... going on?
...
...
Where's my flamethrower? Where aren't there people exploding everywhere to my delight?
"

Phoenix was confused. He must have been dreaming. Yes, it must have been. Only something that cool could happen in his dreams. Alas, he was woken up from his slumber, only to be jutted back into the confines of boring reality... and a distressed female companion.

((Ok ^^ that works!))
(Meep, sorry for shortness, but Nyra really doesn't have a part yet, seeing as she was sleeping.)

Nyra woke up with a start, rubbing her head as she accidently bumped it on the frame of the bed somehow. She snarled, turning to face the wall. Some girl was screaming in the next room and it was really infuriating! She huffed and pulled the covers over her head. "SHUT UP IN THERE!" She shrieked. "PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!"

Of course, she'd probably just woken up half of the hotel, but still, she had been having a wonderful dream of flamethrowering innocent people falling from a plane, all of which looked like Sonny....

Bowser and Co. snored peacefully as if they hadn't heard a thing. They were pretty used to screaming, what with having Nyra as a trainer....

Kuzumi flinched when he heard a girl scream, for he had been looking around for that tree Aeneas previously pointed out. Just as he turned his head back to the window, Aeneas managed to wriggle under through the open window and hop onto the desk. That was enough to entice the boy into ducking under the window as well, making sure to pull it open further so he could fit through.

"Hold it, Aeneas! Don't go sneaking into people's rooms!" The boy laughed as he tried to catch his mischievous Umbreon. Unfortunately for him, the Moonlight fox nimbly leapt away and landed right on the bed beside Rai, his tail wagging eagerly. Once Aeneas was beside Rai, he playfully swatted at one of Rai's ears before he ducked down on his front paws, rear end sticking up and swaying side to side in fun.

"Aeneas, come on! I thought you were too tired to play!" Kuzumi being Kuzumi, it didn't register in his mind that he had frightened Risa, and he didn't even notice either trainers on the floor. His sole focus was his starter Pokemon, and because of that, he started to crawl into the room to snatch the Pokemon off the bed. In the process of doing so, however, he noticed the Shuckle that was placed on the desk, and the youth's eyes lit up.

"Oh, a Shuckle! And such a cute one, too." Before he could decide whether or not he should try to pet the Pokemon, the sound of Aeneas's delighted cry reminded him of what he was doing. It was then that he started to carefully pull the rest of his body into the room, and about then that he started to do a handstand on the desk.

Luckily he was flexible enough to actually attempt that after climbing through a window, and soon the boy pushed against the desk to send himself a bit into the air. Once in the air, the boy flipped so he could land safely on his feet. "Aeneas, you're going to get us into trouble!" Kuzumi warned, though as he turned around, a twinkle of amusement was evident in his eyes. This was hilarious stuff.

Rai was thrilled when her new friend hopped into the room. As soon as Aeneas pawed at her ears, she growled playfully, taking a few steps back before mirroring his position. The Eevee watched carefully, searching for an opening. After a moment, however, she seemed to get too impatient. The Evolution Pokemon leaped forward, trying to tackle her Dark evolution and nip playfully at his tail.

The Eevee seemed completely oblivious to her trainer's panicking state, much more engaged in playtime. After all, it's not every day that an Eevee runs into an older version of herself! Rai was content with Aeneas, and after moving back a few steps, she rolled onto her back, peering up with bright eyes at the Umbreon. Sure, she had been tired a few moments ago, but this fun seemed to energize her.

Meanwhile, Risa continued to panic behind the bed. Luckily for her, she noticed Phoenix start to wake up. "PHOENIX THERE'S S-SOMEONE IN HERE!!" she cried out, immediately jumping to her feet to hide behind him. Her eyes were wide with fear as she turned to point at Aeneas on the bed.

As she turned around, however, she froze when she saw that the man that she had seen had actually entered the room. Her voice seemed to catch in her chest as she stared at Kuzumi.

Another wave of fear filled her veins, paralyzing her as she stared at him. Her hoodie, which she had been clenching in her fists, dropped to the ground silently and she took another step back. "S-Stay away!" she managed to squeak out. At that moment, her eyes widened as she realized that her back was against the wall. She was trapped, she realized. For whatever reason, the idea of using a Pokemon to fight for her didn't even come to mind. She had her Croconaw and Mienfoo's Pokeballs on her waist, but never thought to release one to defend their room.

Next door, someone could be heard shouting something about quieting down, but the cry was lost to the teen as she stared at Kuzumi. Risa seemed to drop against the wall, her knees giving out. As she sat there, she realized how bad she was shaking in fear, her eyes rimmed with tears. She found herself wondering what she could've done to deserve this much stress in her life, and the tears overflowed as the girl began to cry.

Rai's ears twitched at the sound of her trainer, causing her to glance over at Risa. She sighed a bit, her ears dropping as she looked back to Aeneas, swishing her tail in an apology for ending their game before she hopped off the bed and moved to be by her trainer. She pawed at Risa's leg, begging for attention before hopping up onto her lap, licking a tear away and nuzzling against her trainer's cheek in an attempt to comfort her.

Perhaps reality wasn't so boring after all. Here he was, laying on the floor with a girl freaking out on one side of the room, and a random stranger standing on the other...

Wait, what?

"H-hey! What the hell is going on? What are you doing here?!" Phoenix quickly bolted himself upright. This guy seemed like he hadn't showered in a while. Definitely not the type that would work as an attendant in a hotel. This guy was not supposed to be here. On top of his initial observation, there was Risa panicking on the floor next to him.

Was this guy a mass murderer? A hobo that didn't understand basic privacy? Whoever this guy was, he needed to be shown out. Phoenix stood in front of Risa, acting as a blockade between her and the mysterious, smelly man.

"Get the hell out, or I'll show you out, punk. You're not supposed to be in here." He may have only just passed out on the floor, but Phoenix was ready for a throw down.

Kuzumi blinked in surprise as he finally realized that there were trainers inside, and it seemed neither of them wanted him around. It made sense to the boy, for he probably looked terrible, but he wasn't about to be kicked out without his Umbreon. He decided he would make this clear by waving a dismissive hand at the two as he silently stalked towards the bed.

It was clear the boy didn't care much, if at all, that the others were offended by his presence. As far as Kuzumi was concerned, it didn't particularly matter, for he was sure he would never run into these people again. If it turned out that he would an opportunity to properly interact with these people, then he would probably ignore the chance.

If the initial run-in wasn't favorable, then a second was almost always worse.

Aeneas had been quite happy about playing with Rai, for the Eevee not only mimicked his actions, but also dared to pounce on him. Because he knew he would be far stronger than his smaller counterpart, Aeneas automatically moved with the Eevee so that he would fall onto his back upon being tackled. It was when Rai went after his tail that the Umbreon wriggled away a bit, and then flicked his tail just enough to get the Eevee to miss.

That was amusing, and to show this, Aeneas bore back his upper lip in a canine grin. Unfortunately though, playtime was cut short when Rai realized her trainer was crying, and when the Normal-type moved to Risa, Aeneas rolled over to rise to his paws. It was then that he yelped in surprise, for it was then that Kuzumi snatched him off the bed.

"Got you!" Kuzumi cried out in triumph as he lugged the grinning Moonlight fox away. "You totally just got me in trouble with these people." When he mentioned that, the Pokemon peered over to Phoenix and Risa; apparently Aeneas didn't realize his presence would cause trouble for others. The Umbreon blinked in apology at the people, though he didn't believe anyone would realize what he was doing.

After Aeneas did this, Kuzumi grinned sheepishly at the other trainers. "You're not so tough!" The Wanderer laughed as he helped his Pokemon back onto his shoulders. Once that was done, the youth grinned first at Phoenix, then at Risa. "But you're right, I shouldn't be here." At that, the martial artist sheepishly scratched the side of his cheek.

"So! I'll be heading out now!" With that said, Kuzumi spun around and started back to the window. While he did so, he tapped Aeneas on the nose and grinned at the apologetic Pokemon. "Now point out that tree so we can get some rest, and no running off this time." That said, the youth then allowed his Umbreon to hop onto the desk before he started to climb on the furniture as well.

If allowed to continue on his way, Kuzumi would crawl out the window, and then catch his Umbreon so he could wander off into the night.

When Phoenix began defending her, Risa forced herself to look up. He was... Shielding her...? And threatening to throw him out..? The teen wiped away at her cheeks, feeling her heart still pounding on her chest. She reached to pick up Rai, giving the fox a generous cuddle before standing. She looked at Kuzumi shyly, unsure what to think or do about him being in their room.

However, when the teen seemed to be friendly enough, Risa felt a pang of guilt. Sure, she was afraid of him, but she was afraid of Phoenix, too. She sighed, her mouth slightly open as she tried to force some words out.

When Kuzumi mentioned that they were going to sleep in a tree, however, Risa shook her head. "A-Are you s-sleeping in a t-tree...?" she managed to say, unsure if he was serious. She felt guilty realizing that that was where he'd be sleeping. Perhaps he wasn't so mean... Perhaps they could allow him to stay--

No.

Absolutely not. Risa shook her head slightly as her mind led a silent debate with itself. On one hand the poor guy looked like he hadn't had much of a chance to relax in ages, and her desire to help people was begging her to let him stay. But on the other hand, she was uncomfortable around men. She didn't want them around, or anywhere near her. Especially overnight.

She sighed, rubbing her face into her Eevee's fur. The Evolution Pokemon merely nuzzled back, grinning and 'vee'ing at her quietly. The Pokemon didn't seem put off by the people at all, Risa tried to rationalize. In fact, Rai seemed to like them.

As if to further validate this point, Rai leaped from her arms, running to greet Kuzumi, her tail wagging and ears perked. The Eevee looked up with pleading eyes, begging him to allow playtime to continue just a little longer.

"P-Phoenix..." she began slowly, her gaze drifting toward him. "M-Maybe we... Should let him stay...?" Her eyes were sad as she spoke. She had a genuine passion for making sure people were taken care of, as long as they didn't seem too bad. As much as the idea made her uncomfortable, she felt bad for Kuzumi and didn't want to throw him out. After all, he was only chasing his Umbreon, it seemed.

Risa was still shaky, her features wary as she watched Kuzumi, unsure what to think about him. She did realize that he seemed strong, to the point that if he wanted something, he could take it without a second thought. He could easily overpower her, and probably Phoenix as well. That thought caused her to shudder a bit and she closed her eyes, drawing in a shaky breath in an attempt to relax herself.

"If you're only here for your Pokemon... you should've just asked for it back, instead of breaking in and scaring us half to death. Now could you just please get out? You are NOT welcome here."

Phoenix was full of adrenaline. He wasn't sure just what was going to happen. This stranger had to leave. He wasn't going to stay. He wasn't suffering from Stockholm Syndrome like Risa was. What this person did was wrong. Who knows what would have happened if both he and Risa were asleep when the intruder entered the room? Would he have taken advantage of the situation...? Whatever. That was not the case, and he was glad.

"Risa, go get an attendant. I'll stay. Go get help. We don't know what this guy is capable of..."

Kuzumi had to admit, he was pretty confused as to what was going on. First both of the trainers wanted him out, and then the female actually started to consider allowing him to stay? Confusing stuff, but the boy knew when he was wanted and when he wasn't. Because of this, he found he had to agree with Phoenix when the guy went on about how he wasn't welcomed.

Still, when the guy finished speaking, Kuzumi found himself peering down at the very Eevee he had spotted. It seemed all of this happened because he had an instinctive affection towards the Evolution Pokemon, and although he didn't regret the occurrence, he swore he wouldn't jump in excitement at the next sighting of an Eevee. Of course, the boy would probably forget this oath as promptly as he forgot when the last time he ate was, but that was a minor detail.

"Yup, I definitely had the option to ask for my Pokemon back! Had the choice to either ask a girl who was screaming even before I entered, or a guy that, and tell me if I'm wrong, was previously passed out on the floor." The boy quirked a brow then as he leaned against the desk; it seemed he had a point when it came to the obvious conflict of asking others for a bit of help. Still, the boy chose to wave the matter off as he laughed about the whole scenario.

When Phoenix told Risa to fetch someone to help them kick Kuzumi out, the young martial artist grinned at the window, though he didn't plan on turning around to properly speak to these people. Instead, he started to climb onto the desk so he could try crawling through the window. "You definitely are ignorant to what I can do, and I think it's better you stay that way!"

With that said, the youth stuck his upper body out of the window and literally fell out. He promptly jumped back onto his feet, and once he was up, the youth turned to flash an amused smile at everyone inside. "Come on Aeneas, I know you want to play, but we're not welcome to do so." As far as he could tell, the Umbreon was conflicted about the matter.

Aeneas really wanted to stay to play with Rai, but he didn't like how the humans were alienating his trainer. Honestly, he felt kind of stubborn at the idea that Kuzumi wasn't wanted, and the Moonlight fox nearly concluded that he would stay and cause more problems. But the idea of getting his Wanderer into more trouble was what made Aeneas hesitate, and finally, with an apologetic mewl directed to Rai, the Umbreon turned to join his trainer.

If not stopped, then Aeneas would hop out the window, and then hop onto Kuzumi's shoulders. It was a fine, cool night, and the bright full moon was sitting majestically up in the sky that night. There were only a few clouds present, but those could easily be ignored since they weren't thick enough to obscure more than a small amount of the moon. This was a good night to hang about in the trees.
