Liz walked calmly through the prong, happy to have gotten away from those jerkish Grunts and rescued her new companion. She now wanted nothing more than to walk around, take in the scenery, and possibly battle a trainer or two who were out looking for a good challenge; however, as she glanced up at the sky with her pokemon, her eyes hardened. The once blue sky was now fading to grey as if someone were pouring grey water over a still-wet painting. Dark clouds began to roll in, dimming the sky until it was nearly as dark as the night. Crestfallen and vexed, Liz quickened her steps so that she could find shelter. Skidder hung onto Liz's head as she perched on the teen's shoulder, shivering. Though the small Pond Skater was cold, her eyes shined in anticipation of the puddles that rain would soon bring. Thunder rumbled through the sky. Liz took a deep breath, one hand clutching the leather strap of her satchel, the other shielding her eyes as the rain started to drizzle down. She plodded on, glancing up warily at Flutter. Flutter's eyes were wide with worry, and she quickly swooped down low, closer to Liz, upon seeing a sudden flash of lightning. She didn't want to get as wet as she would above the trees, and she was equally hostile against the possibility of getting struck by lightning. Grateful that she only had those two pokemon out, Liz walked on, scanning the trees and bushes for wild pokemon and possible shelters. Suddenly, as the rain began to pour down hard, making it hard to see and causing Flutter to land and walk, Liz heard a faint, menacing growl come from beneath the trees. She and all of her pokemon froze. Liz's eyes narrowed and she crossed her arms over her soaked chest as her pokemons' eyes widened in fear. Out of the bushes and underbrush emerged a pair of gleaming angry eyes and barred teeth. As the lightning flashed once more, it illuminated the face of a seriously pissed off Manectric, and by the looks of it, he wasn't alone. Behind the angered leader were four pairs of narrowed Elektrike eyes. It looked as though Liz and her group had stumbled onto hostile territory.... Liz backed up slowly, returning Skidder regardless of how much she loved rain. Thankfully the Manectric backed up, meaning it would probably release its minions before battling itself. That coward. Two of the Elektrikes burst forth through the rain towards Liz, and Flutter immediately swooped down, eyes blazing after she'd flapped her wings to get up into the air. She lashed out with an Aerial Ace, sending one of the pups skidding backwards while the other still rushed at Liz. Liz backed away and then gracefully side-stepped the attack, though she nearly slipped in a puddle. The Elektrike spun and ran at her again, only to be met with Flutter's talons to the face. Unfortunately, this left an opening for the other Elektrike to leap onto Liz's back, sending her face-planting into the muddy ground. She shoved herself out of the wet dirt and threw the pokemon off of her back, glaring at it as she rubbed the muck off of her face. Both Elektrikes now surrounded Liz, who sighed in exasperation. She slowly stepped back until her back hit a tree, both Elektrikes growling in front of her. Flutter then swooped down, landing in front of Liz and cawing, splitting into three versions of herself. The electric pups blinked in confusion, exchanging a glance, then both using Spark, shooting balls of electricity at Flutter. Liz yelped, jumping out of the way before losing her footing and slipping in the mud, further ruining her white shirt. Why had she worn a white t-shirt, of all things? She grumbled and sat up, brushing off her jeans and turning just as one of the sparks hit Flutter, making her squawk and close her eyes shut in agony as electricity rocked through her. Electricity was the worst possible thing for a bird pokemon... Because of her lapse in concentration, her other copies faded away, making Flutter an open target; however, she lashed out in anger and used Wing Attack on both pokemon while the Manectric and remaining two Elektrike sat back, watching with amusement until it was their turn. Liz narrowed her eyes and sighed. She may need to get Cross out here, and then Fluffy as a last resort. She wiped some more caked mud from her face and turned to look at the Manetric and his gang. She frowned. Why were they just sitting there? Would they pick off her pokemon one by one? She watched as one of the Elektrikes latched onto Flutter's wings, sending a shock through another Spark, virtually breaking her wing and making her Paralyzed. Liz's eyes widened in shock (no pun intended, of course.) Flutter cried out in pain and closed her eyes again, waiting for the Elektrikes to do their worst. Liz shook her head and frowned, returning her baby girl. The Elektrikes turned as one and growled at Liz, advancing on her with menace. The Manectric smirked along with his two companions, thinking that Liz only had the one pokemon. Were they stupid? Liz smirked, grabbing Cross's pokeball from her belt right as the pups leaped for Liz's face. Cross emerged in a flash of white light in front of Liz and grabbed the two muzzles of the Lightning Pokemon. They growled and shot out Sparks, which hit his hands, causing him to drop them, but at least Liz had gotten out of the way, climbing into a tree. The Manetric glared up at her with hatred. Cross grimaced, beating his wings fast to whip up mini whirlwinds as he hovered in the air. Rain still poured down over everything, and Liz hoped to goodness that lightning didn't strike her tree. Thunder boomed in the distance. Cross narrowed his eyes as the two Elektrikes bristled. He brought up his claws, which glowed with a dark aura, then he slashed out with them, aiming a Night Slash at one of the Elektrikes while the other struck out at him, aiming to use Quick Attack and knock him down, then fire a Spark at him again. The Night Slash rammed into the first Elektrike, striking him and making him fall back, grimacing in pain as Cross was knocked back by the Quick Attack and then shocked, retaliating quickly with Fury Swipes across its muzzle, sending it backwards, whimpering slightly. Liz smiled through her shivers, clutching onto her bag and hoping her stuff didn't get ruined. It was leather, so it should keep most water out, but still... Edited by Lizard, Nov 26 2012, 04:12 PM.

All of a sudden, as Cross was about to attack again, the Manectric chuckled and bolted forwards, sending a Thunder Wave at Cross and paralyzing him on the spot, allowing the two Electrikes to pounce on him while the Discharge pokemon sat smirking at the base of the tree. Liz immediately returned Cross so that he wouldn't get hurt, and then she proceeded to climb down the tree to tell the Manectric off. "That was not fair, you jerk you could ha- AHH!" she started, fuming, and then, of course, her foot slipped. She went tumbling to the ground, and when she fell onto her knees she heard a small crack, opening her mouth in a silent scream as pain shot through her leg. She grit her teeth and stood, ignoring the pain. She must have made a hairline fracture in her knee...great. Liz stumbled back, leaving the perfect opportunity for the large Manetric to leap onto her, knocking her to her back and causing her to lose her breath, wheezing. The large electric dog barred its teeth in her face, and Liz's eyes widened. She then screamed, her eyes shutting in pain as needle-sharp teeth dug into her arm and her leg. It seemed that two of the Elektrike had latched onto her body. Liz's vision swam. Was this the end?... Then there was a flash of light as Liz rolled onto Fluffy's pokeball, causing it to open. There was a loud snarl and Fluffy launched himself onto the Manetric, knocking him off of Liz's chest so that she could breathe. She used her free hand to pry the Elektrike on her arm's teeth away from her skin, which began to seep blood. It struggled and growled, but eventually backed away, barking indignantly. She then struggled up, gritting her teeth in agony as the Elektrike on her leg bit down hard. She slapped it hard, and it rolled to the side, whimpering. The rain continued to pour, washing away the blood on Liz's arm and leg, but leaving deep gashes which stung horribly. The two Elektrikes growled, keeping their eyes on Liz and daring her to move. She didn't, though she clutched her arm and took deep breaths, causing her chest to move up and down as she tried to keep herself together. If only she had someone to help... The last two Electrikes, most likely the youngest, stayed crouched in the bushes where the Manectric had been. Liz furrowed her eyebrows and leaned against a tree, closing her eyes. Her leg hurt horribly and she just wanted this all to end.... The Electrikes backed up away from Liz, figuring she could do no more harm, and they joined their brothers to watch Fluffy and the Manectric. Liz sighed, fighting back a whimper as her knee killed her and her arm and leg seeped more blood. Fluffy rolled around with the Manetric, biting it and yelping whenever he was shocked, which was quite frequent due to the conductivity of the water soaking his fur. He glanced at Liz's crumpled up form and growled, turning blazing eyes on his opponent. No.one.hurt.his.trainer! He leaped back, then quickly flipped forward, Iron Tailing the Manetric in the teeth as it tried to bite him. It yowled and staggered back, then leaped at Fluffy, who quickly dodged the attack and retaliated with a Psybeam, which it jumped out of the way to dodge. Thankfully he hadn't been paralyzed. Unfortunately, however, it didn't seem as though the Manetric wasn't getting any slower either. All of a sudden Liz heard feet slapping mud, the sound of someone running in the rain. Liz's eyes snapped open and she looked over just in time for a girl to skid in the mud, throwing a pokeball into the air. Her hair was long and brown, blowing in the wind as it got damper and damper from the pouring rain. She had on brown shorts and a navy blue t-shirt, and she carried five pokeballs on a white belt. She also wore a bandana around her head, matching her shirt. "Go, Absol!" She cried, releasing a beautiful white and black pokemon. It lifted its head up and growled, leaping in front of Fluffy and shooting a Shadow Ball at the Manetric. The Discharge pokemon yelped as it was hit in the side, and fell back. Absol then leaped at it, pinning it to the ground and growling in its face. Liz looked over as the mysterious trainer walked to her through the rain. Liz's eyes were wide with shock and wonder. She had an Absol? Liz struggled to get up, but then she cried out from the pain in her arm and legs. The girl quickened her pace and dropped beside Liz, her brown eyes and small frown deep with worry. The girl grabbed Liz around the stomach and pulled her up, surprisingly strong. Liz winced, then leaned against the girl as she guided Liz to the path. Liz quickly returned Fluffy as the Absol let the Manectric go and the band of electric canines sunk back into the bushes. They figured that against two trainers, they would only succeed in injuring their pack. Liz looked gratefully up at the girl and then glanced at the Absol as it traipsed beside them. The girl paused, leaning Liz against a tree and smiling brightly, hands on her hips. "Hi!" She announced, eyes shining. She must have been either Liz's age or just under it. "I'm glad I came in time. I bolted from the cabin when I heard a scream. Figures that those trouble makers caused it. They're always starting trouble around here. I'm Lydia by the way." She said, winking as Liz shivered in the cold and pain. Liz nodded, smiling weakly. Lydia took Liz's arm and draped it around her shoulders, half carrying her as they walked down the path. Liz and Lydia walked up the rest of the path, then down a smaller path to a little log cabin. Liz's eyes softened. It was such a cute little shelter! Lydia's hand was still on her arm, making sure she didn't pass out or anything, but Liz was still able to walk semi-well. The lights in the cabin were already on, as if there were other people in there. As if reading Liz's mind, Lydia chuckled. "No, I don't live alone." She said with amusement. Liz raised her eyebrows. As Liz stepped in, a nice looking young man with brown hair and a kind smile handed her a towel and a green shirt, looking to be one of Lydia's. "Here, dry off." He said gruffly. Liz smiled kindly and took the warm shirt and towel and headed back to a small room, limping and leaning on the wall, but making her way nontheless. Closing the door behind her, she changed into somewhat dryer clothes. She shoved the muddy shirt into her satchel and dried her hair off. She then ran her fingers through her disheveled hair to make it somewhat presentable and stepped back out into the main room, handing her towel to a smirking Lydia. "Better?" She asked. Liz chuckled. "Yes, thank you. And thank you again for saving me out there. Your pokemon is amazing. Mind if we have a battle after my pokemon rest?" She asked, eyes sparkling. "Sure! And that's not my only pokemon." Lydia said enthusiastically, winking. Liz chuckled. "We can battle tomorrow after the rain is cleared. Oh, and this is John and Sarah. Sarah's my sister and John is my brother. We camp out here whenever we feel like having some adventure." She chuckled. She then walked past Liz and motioned to a small bedroom with four bunk beds. "The bottom one on the right is vacant. You can stay here for the night." Liz smiled gratefully. "Thank you so much. I can never repay you for th-" Lydia cut her off with a raised hand and a wink. She winked as much as Liz did. "It's no problem at all. Just rest and get your pokemon feeling better! It's been a long day, I'm sure." Liz's eyes shined and she nodded, walking over to hang her satchel on the handle beside the bed and uncoil the rope she carried on her belt, stuffing it into her bag. She then took all of her pokeballs off of her belt and let out her pokemon, placing the empty pokeballs into her bag as well and flopping down onto her bed. She laid back and sighed in comfort. "My, it's been a long day, guys." The pokemon who'd been in the battle nodded, catching up the other pokemon on what had happened. Acorn hopped up beside Liz, cuddling up next to her while Fluffy leaped up and curled by her feet, falling instantly asleep. Flutter cooed weakly and curled up in a corner, falling asleep as well. Skidder and Cross blinked up at Liz and watched her intently. Skidder hopped up onto a windowsill, looking out longingly into the rain. Cross just shrugged and plopped down in front of the bed, eyes searching the room as he guarded his resting trainer. Liz smiled as she looked around at all of them, and soon she drifted off into a happy sleep. Her pokemon were safe now, and that's all that mattered. Edited by Lizard, Nov 23 2012, 10:47 AM.

While Liz was sleeping, Lydia's sister, Sarah, came in and bound her bleeding arm and leg with concern, then fastened a brace around her injured knee, where Lydia said it was broken. It would make it difficult for Liz to walk, but she'd heal. A large, furry Persian padded in beside her, settling down on the floor and resting her head on the bed beside Fluffy, sniffing him. She purred. A friend! Sarah chuckled softly, patting her feline and snapping, signaling her to follow Sarah out so that Liz and her pokemon could rest. The pokemon of Liz's that were awake ignored Sarah and her pokemon, as they knew she was only trying to help Liz. Sarah stepped into the main room and sat down in a chair by the computer, smiling at a Drifblim that was hovering nearby. The Drifblim was Lydia's and it helped Lydia record weather patterns in the area, which were almost always rainy and cloudy. Sarah patted it on the head and turned to the computer moniter. She looked much like Lydia, as did John, her other sibling. They all shared their brown hair and eyes, and they were all pretty slender, but their arms showed that they had strength. John leaned against a wall, feeding poffins to a Houndoom and a Buizel curled up on the floor beside him, while a Machamp mimicked him by leaning against the wall as well. Lydia was sitting on the floor beside them, petting her Absol and complimenting him for helping her out. Beside her were a Bayleef and a Nidorina. The group's other pokemon, a Victreebel, Altaria, Bellossom, Ledian, and Swampert, were all lounging, asleep, on the unoccupied bunks in the bedroom with Liz. Lydia smiled at her siblings, who turned to look at her with interest. She grinned. "I like that girl! Her pokemon are really strong, too! They held all of those Elektrikes, and the Manetric, off before I got there! Too bad Liz had to get hurt, though. Well, they probably won't be messing with her anymore. Either way, she's a strong trainer. I say tomorrow, after they're healed and rested, we should put her to the test. Let's each chose two of our best pokemon and challenge her to a family battle! What do you say? She has enough pokemon. She can pick two for each of us. We'll give her a reward if she succeeds. I have a pretty stone I found in the woods the other day, where a trainer dropped it. We can give her that, since we're short on money!" She said enthusiastically. Her siblings exchanged a knowing glance. Their younger sister had always been the one to do these things. Sarah shrugged, and John sighed, nodding. "Ok, I'll use Houndoom and Buizel." he said, shaking his head. The respective pokemon rose their heads and blinked sleepily, acknowledging their trainer. "I'll use Persian and Ledian." Sarah said, rolling her eyes and turning back to the computer as her Persian purred and rubbed against her leg. Lydia clapped her hands, ecstatic. "Great! I'll use Absol, Altaria, and as an added bonus, Nidorina. I'm sure she'll at least get through most of our pokemon!" She said, winking. She then stood up and walked to the bedroom, followed by her Absol. "Well, I'm off to bed!" She said, waving as her siblings nodded absently. They'd join her soon. Lydia walked into the bedroom to see that all of Liz's pokemon had curled up beside her on the bed, except for her Swellow, who was asleep in the corner. Her Surskit and Seedot curled up on either side of her head, her gorgeous Espeon was asleep by her feet, and her Heracross was laying beside her on the bed. Lydia's eyes softened. Liz must really be some kind of an awesome trainer. Lydia would be rooting for her in later events. She'd have to keep in close contact with the girl, for they would be good friends. Lydia hopped onto her bed beside her Bayleef, Nidorana, and Altaria and fell instantly into a happy sleep while the rain pattered on the cieling. John and Sarah sat in the main room, discussing battle tactics and the weather before shutting off the computer and heading to bed as well, all of the pokemon following. It was quite cute, how all of the trainers were curled into their respective beds beside their pokemon. This was how it should be. If Liz hadn't had a gym to challenge and a boyfriend to love, she may have just stayed here forever. Edited by Lizard, Aug 5 2012, 12:12 PM.

Light streamed in through the window beside Liz's bead, hitting her eyelids and causing her to blink them open and yawn, smiling and snuggling the pokemon curled up around her. As she got up to stretch, however, she took in the cabin, winced in pain, and collapsed to the floor all at once with a yelp. All of her pokemon bolted awake and leaped or flew off of the bed to her aid. Liz rubbed her head, laughing her head off and waking up the other three trainers and their pokemon as well. She rubbed her arm and leg as well, remembering the events of the previous day. "Man, this is gonna be hard..." She muttered, still chuckling. Lydia and her Absol leaped from their bed to Liz's side as she returned her other pokemon to keep them from cluttering the space. Sarah and John bolted up as well, returning their pokemon and climbing drowzily from their beds. Sarah rubbed her eyes and yawned. "Good morning you guys, too." She said sarcastically. Lydia chuckled and helped Liz up. Liz smiled gratefully to her new friend and leaned on her while Absol nuzzled Fluffy, giggling. Fluffy smiled back gratefully, then barked his thanks for saving him. Absol licked his nose and woofed back. Liz shook her head and returned a few of her pokemon, leaving out Fluffy and Skidder, who climbed up Liz's back and onto her shoulder as usual. Sarah walked out of the room with a sigh to go make breakfast, and John hurried out of the room to go get something, though Liz wasn't sure what. Liz turned her gaze back to Lydia and smiled warmly, picking up Fluffy and snuggling him against her. He licked her cheek, making her smile. Lydia had a mischievous glint in her eye and Liz's smile grew. She knew that look. A challenge was about to be ordered. Liz's pokemon were all rested up, so she was sure a trainer battle or two was about to happen. Lydia practically bounced up and down, then she finally blurted it out. "We're going to have a family trainer battle tournament!" She said, clapping her hands excitedly and beaming. Liz chuckled, tilting her head. "What?" She asked the excited teen, scratching Fluffy's ears. "Well, I talked to my brother and sister last night, and we decided that you are one heck of a trainer." Lydia explained. "So, we are each going to challenge you with two of my pokemon, except I'm using three. So, there's going to be six single battles, plus one bonus battle. Are you up for it?" She asked, still grinning from ear to ear. "And," She held up a finger. "you get a prize if you beat us all." she finished, winking. Liz's eyes shined and she nodded eagerly. "I love a challenge! Let's do it!" Lydia clapped her hands. "I thought you might say that." ----------------------------------------- "Ok!" Sarah called out from the opposite side of the clearing as Liz walked into it. "I'll be starting out with my Ledian, just to see what you're made of." She said, winking. Liz smiled. She really liked these people. Too bad she'd have to beat them all. She nodded. "Great, I'll just use my Heracross! Bug pokemon against Bug pokemon." She called out, winking back. She realized the obvious type advantages and disadvantages, but since when had that ever stopped her? Especially with Cross. Lydia stood behind Liz, crossing her arms and smiling. She was interested in how this would turn out. All three of them were pretty strong, but seeing as Liz had a gym badge, as she'd said on her way to the clearing, she may just beat them. Liz walked over to hang her satchel onto a tree, using a walking stick John had made for her, then took out Cross's pokeball. She walked back to stand opposite of Sarah, John standing behind his sister, and nodded. "Alright, whenever you're ready!" She called, throwing Cross's ball spinning into the air. Fluffy, the only other pokemon out, yipped, sitting beside Liz with dancing eyes. She'd use him last. Cross emerged in a flash of white light in front of Liz, right as Sarah let out her Ledian. Lydia and Sarah's eyes both widened. A green Heracross? You didn't see that every day. Both bug pokemon eyed each other, buzzing and hovering a few feet over the ground. Sarah nodded. "Alright, I'll start then!" She called out. "Ledian! Light Screen, then Supersonic!" The Ledian buzzed, zooming forward and emitting a soft white glow as it used Light Screen, creating a small screen around it before flapping its wings super hard to create confusing sound waves that would hopefully affect Cross. Liz grimaced. "Cross! Before the sound waves get to you, fly to the side and lash out with an Aerial Ace! Then back up and use Night Slash!" She called out, leaning on the walking stick for support. She sent a grateful smile at John. He nodded in return. Cross zoomed out of the way and buzzed in annoyance as the sound waves moved past him. He smirked. Did that bug really think he'd be fooled by that? He shook his head, zipping into the air until he was right behind the Ledian. Shocked, the small Five Star pokemon turned just as he lashed out with Aerial Ace, sending the poor thing to the ground, grimacing in pain. Cross then sent a Night Slash at him, which he wasn't expecting, and he cried out in pain. Liz grimaced. She shook her head, sending an apologetic look Sarah's way. Sarah's eyes widened in shock and she blushed. Liz smiled softly. She must have forgotten that Heracross could learn flying moves as well. In fact, it was odd that they didn't have a Heracross. They must be everywhere in the deep forest. Sarah blinked, shaking her head. "It's ok, Ledian! You can do it! It was just one attack. Show them who's boss! Thunder Punch!" She commanded. Liz nodded, smiling wider. There we go, that was a good attack. The Ledian smirked as he buzzed back into the air, fist raised and crackling with electricity. Cross narrowed his eyes, backing away slightly and bracing himself. The Ledian shot forth with blinding speed and slammed his little fist into Cross's chest, sending him flying back into a boulder. He grimaced, getting back up and shaking himself. That little bug packed a punch! Well, he'd just pack a harder one. Thanks to his extremely hard exoskeleton, Cross easily recovered from being slammed into a rock, but how would the Ledian hold up, he wondered. He turned to Liz as he kept a watch on the Ledian from the corner of his eye. Liz smiled proudly and lifted her head high. "Cross, Horn Attack!" She called out, eyes shining in anticipation. Lydia watched her with amusement. Liz really got worked up during battles, didn't she? Cross buzzed in acknowledgement and surged forward, slamming with full speed into the Ledian, whose eyes widened as he tried to move out of the way. Luckily, Cross was trained so well on the bug that he moved along with him and his horn jammed into its body, sending it flying back with enough force to make it go at least a couple yards. He then made a wide turn and flew back, out of the range of another attack. Sarah's eyes widened again as her Ledian slammed into a tree, frowning in pain. Sarah looked over at Liz. That trainer was strong! Sarah frowned in determination, eyeing her pokemon as it struggled to get up from the force of the attack. She shook her head. This wasn't over yet! Cross flew back a ways, waiting for the Ledian to get up. Liz looked from one pokemon to the other, assessing her options. She glanced over at Sarah, giving her an apologetic smiled, which Sarah waved off with a smile, mouthing 'just you wait'. Liz blinked in surprise. What other pokemon was she using? Ledian struggled up, eyeing the Heracross with distaste. Cross frowned. He didn't want to make an enemy, they were just having a battle. He'd have to apologize later. "Ledian! Agility, then Double Edge!" Sarah shouted out, nodding her head and smiling. Liz smiled as well, glad to have a good first trainer to battle. That was one strong Ledian she had! Ledian shot forward suddenly, though it looked like it was stumbling slightly in flight, and nailed Cross with a Double Edge, sending him flipping backwards while he was still buzzing around confidently from the last attack. He then landed on the ground, winded. The Ledian stumbled to the ground as well from the recoil, almost out of fuel. He then straightened up and glared at Cross, who grimaced and leaped onto his feet, flying at the Ledian with a renewed energy to slam him to the ground with Counter before Liz could issue an order; however the Ledian was on guard and dodged right in time, slamming another Thunder Punch into Cross's back. Cross cried out, stumbling in flight and spinning, nailing the Ledian with an Aerial Ace which sent it sinking towards the ground. Normally, his Counter attack would have 100% accuracy, but for some strange astronomical reason, it didn't. Maybe the legend Tsunamine...was playing a trick on Liz? Nah....Either way, Ledian was almost down for the count, and Cross smiled, turning and giving a thumbs-up to Liz, who smiled back. She then sighed. "Come on, buddy! Let's finish this with style!" She called out as the Ledian held its hands up, panting. Sarah's lips curved down into a worried frown and she held a hand up to stop Liz as she rushed out to her Ledian, picking it up and cradling it in her arms. "Um, Liz, I think that's enough for him, f-for now." She said quickly, kissing him on the forehead and returning him. "You win this round!" She added sincerely. "Your Heracross is the most amazing fighter I have yet seen. I can't wait to see how your next pokemon will be against mine. Ready for round two?" she asked, pocketing her pokeball and getting out another. Liz smiled, nodding her head and beaming at Cross before returning him. "I understand. You can't push pokemon too hard, or they will get worn out. You did great, and I bet this next round will be a bit more challenging." She replied. "I'm ready for round two." She added, turning and semi-walking/leaning over to the tree to replace her pokeball, and get out the next while Sarah returned to her previous position. Liz caught Lydia's eye, and she winked at Liz, giving her a thumbs-up. Liz chuckled, smiling back, then turned and nodded at John, who gave her a less-enthusiastic thumbs-up. Liz shook her head, smiling wider, then turned to Sarah. "You ready for this next one?" She called out. Sarah nodded, throwing her pokeball into the air as Liz followed suit. Both pokemon simultaneously appeared in flashes of light on opposite sides of the field. Sarah's Persian, and Liz's Swellow, Flutter. She smiled mischievously. Sure, it was bird against cat, but this was no ordinary bird. This was her best, fastest fighter, next to Fluffy. She wasn't going down easily. Both pokemon got into position. Flutter's eyes gleamed as she stared down the Persian, and then she chuckled and grinned at Liz. Of course Liz would pick her for this. The Persian looked at Flutter with an expression of pure amusement. She almost laughed out loud. Liz thought a wimpy bird could beat her? Please. Sarah eyed Liz with confusion, but shook her head and smiled widely. "Odd choice, but I'm up for it!" She exclaimed, tucking a stray bit of hair behind her ear. Liz turned to wink at Lydia, which made her giggle. Liz then put a hand on her hip and whistled lightly. Flutter turned to eye her with loyalty, waiting for her first command. Sarah took in the bird pokemon with awe, once again amazed by the beautiful, rare colors of the pokemon. The other two were also amazed, though it only showed in Lydia's sparkling eyes. Liz glanced briefly at Sarah to make sure it was ok to begin the battle, and when Sarah nodded the affirmative and her cat got ready to pounce, Liz nodded back. "Flutter! Up in the air, then spin and dive!" She said, speaking in a slight code so that it wouldn't be easy to pick up on what they were doing, though Flutter knew what to do completely. Sarah, in an act of confusion, simply shouted out for her Persian to use Fury Swipes, so just as the cat wiggled her tail and pounced, Flutter shot up into the air quicker than the cat could blink. The Swellow then spun in midair, gaining momentum before flying around quickly with an Agility, then, as she felt her speed rising rapidly, she dove down with blinding speed and struck out with her talons in an Air Slash attack, all of it happening too quickly for the Persian to move out of the way after stumbling around from its Fury Swipes mess up, plus its speed was much less than Flutter's by now. The result of this was the Perisan getting a face-full of Swellow talons and yowling, sprawling backwards before baring her teeth and pouncing with another Fury Swipes attack. The first two swipes caught Flutter in the face, which truthfully caught her off guard with the sharp claws, though it did little damage before she shot back up into the air, quickly getting out of the range of the Persian's claws. Hopefully, if Flutter stayed away from those claws and avoided long range attacks, they'd have this battle won in no time. Or at least that's what Liz thought, but though Sarah was shocked by the current results, she did have a trick up her sleeve. She just needed the Swellow to get in the right position. "Woo! Good going Liz!" Lydia shouted, winking at Sarah as John lightly clapped, smirking. Liz, though confused, wasn't phased, and so she just smiled back and continued to focus on the battle. She wasn't too confident yet, for she had indeed been anticipating this to be a harder battle. She looked up at Flutter as she flew swiftly in the air, maintaining her speed. Liz almost couldn't track her. The Persian paced on the ground, eyes keen on Flutter the feline awaited her prey to come down. Honestly, Sarah wasn't sure how fair it was that Liz's pokemon could hang out in the sky and strike periodically until her pokemon was down, but yet again, she could tell Liz's pokemon was strong, plus Sarah was smart enough that she knew she'd find a way to hinder the bird pokemon soon enough. Flutter swooped in the air, awaiting Liz's next command, when suddenly, after an almost imperceptible nod from her trainer, the Persian yowled, leaping into the air and emitting a flash of lightning from the red gem on her forehead with Thunderbolt. Because the attack was a complete and utter surprise, both Liz and Flutter were taken off guard, and Flutter shrieked out in immense pain, fluttering weakly to the ground as electricity racked through her hollow bones. Liz stumbled back a bit, stunned. She blinked at Sarah. "Y...you taught your Persian how to use Thunderbolt?" She asked softly, and Sarah smiled, eyes sparkling as the Persian slowly stalked around Flutter as she struggled to get upright. That attack had been a critical hit, leveling the playing field in Sarah's favor. Sarah nodded. "I taught her the TM a few months back when I won it in a battle with another trainer." She explained, smiling almost innocently, eyes wide and pretty, making it look as though she was less of a threat than she was. Liz smirked, she had a good tactic, there. Sarah probably played that card well. "Now, let's finish our battle." Still slightly stunned, Liz shook her head, smiling at this new bit of information. Sarah had taken the element of surprise to a whole new level. She took a deep breath and called out to her pokemon as both John and Lydia chuckled on the sidelines. "Flutter! It's ok baby, it was just one attack! If you dodge the rest and stay cautious, we can still win this!" Liz called out encouragingly, leaning on her crutch as she shifted her weight a bit, stretching and winking at Lydia. This wasn't over yet. Lydia chuckled, skipping over to her brother and pretending to present him with a dramatic gesture, as if to say 'he's next'. This made Liz laugh, but she shook her head and focused back onto the battle. Flutter nodded at Liz's encouragement, her eyes still shining as she shook her feathers and cawed at the Persian before taking off into the air again to continue the temporarily paused battle. The Persian stuck her tongue out at the weakened Flutter, once again trying to leap at the bullet of a bird, but the Swellow just lifted her head haughtily and swooped speedily in circles, gaining momentum with yet another Agility. She was almost at max speed. She needed as much speed as she could muster in this battle, if she was going to avoid those Thunderbolts. Sure, they had super high accuracy, but...Flutter could try something creative. The Persian bristled her fur, leaping onto her hind legs and flashing her claws in the sunlight that was peaking through the clouds, her eyes wild with anger. She Screeched, causing Flutter to shiver slightly, then in an act of annoyance, she dove down with an Aerial Ace, striking the cat in her muzzle and sending her on her back, where Flutter aimed a second slash to her open stomach. The Persian yowled, flipping back over and hitting Flutter square in the wing with a Power Gem, sending Flutter buckling backwards in pain as the super effective attack sapped her energy. The Persian grinned in triumph, shooting a haughty smile at Liz, which gave Flutter the perfect opportunity to dart forward in a last attempt at victory with Quick Attack, hitting the snooty cat in the side with her sharp beak and sending it flying back into a tree. The Persian struggled up as Flutter panted, wincing as she tested her injured wing. Both pokemon stared each other down, waiting for who would deal the next, or last, attack. Both seemed too proud to back down, though they both looked exhausted. They both turned as one to look at their respective trainers. Liz smiled lovingly at her feathered friend, realizing that she shouldn't push her any longer, because she was hurt. Liz took Flutter's pokeball and held it up. Flutter glanced at the Persian, who's matted fur and panting gave signs that she was worn out as well, and nodded to Liz. Liz returned her pokemon just as Sarah made the same decision. They both nodded to each other, eyes shining. John and Lydia exchanged a glance, and Lydia piped up. "It's a tie!" She cried happily, beaming at Liz. "But, Liz still won the first battle, so I say she's the winner!" Liz smiled, and Sarah walked over, pocketing her Persian's pokeball and offering her hand. "Good job, Liz. You're a great opponent!" She said, smiling genuinely. "I'm glad I got to battle you. Just know that my brother won't go easy on you just because you're pretty!" She giggled, winking. Edited by Lizard, Nov 26 2012, 03:38 PM.

Liz tilted her head, confused as a blush spread across her face. She shook her head, rolling her eyes as she suddenly thought about Sonny. A smile graced her lips, and she realized that he'd be having a great time if he were here with her. Oh well, she'd have to find him after she beat her next gym battle. John, not having heard this, stretched as he took his sister's spot across the field, seeming to yawn as he waited for Liz to go get her next pokemon. Liz smirked, already feeling she'd enjoy this battle. She exchanged a knowing glance with Lydia and stumbled on her bad knee over to the tree. She replaced Flutter's ball and went ahead and got both of the pokemon she'd be battling with. Walking back and forth was annoying. Seeing Liz struggle, Sarah walked up, reaching for Liz's bag. "Want me to stand beside you and hold this for you?" She asked, concerned. Liz smiled softly. "Only if you want to." She said, replacing one of the balls and holding the other in her hand. Sarah nodded. "Of course!" Lydia moved to stand beside her brother, and Sarah stood behind Liz as she took her place, leaning on the walking stick once more while Sarah held her bag. Liz tossed her pokeball into the air. In a flash of light her pokemon emerged. Skidder materialized on Liz's shoulder, smiling happily as she saw rainclouds appearing above. She blinked at Liz, then at John. A battle? This looks fun! The small Surskit scuttled down Liz and onto the grass, blinking up at John as he let out his pokemon. John held in a laugh as he saw the pokemon that Liz had picked. This will be easy. he thought. But then again, he didn't know Liz. He took out his first pokeball, smirking and brushing his shaggy brown hair out of his face as he mimicked Liz, tossing the pokeball into the air, out of which a snarling Houndoom materialized. Skidder cowered slightly into the grass, glancing at Liz and earning a smile of encouragement. "You can do it!" Liz said happily, eyeing the Houndoom with amusement rather than fear. Sure, Skidder was part bug, but it was going to rain soon, and that meant a boost in her advantages, for she was a water pokemon as well. Of course, his pokemon was fully evolved and most likely very experienced, but these are minor details. Liz and Skidder both took a deep breath, and the battle commenced. Right as it began to pour. Skidder's eyes lit up in excitement. As the rain began to come down in torrents, the Houndoom rushed forward, breaking through the sheets of rain like a curtain. Thankfully, the rain upped Skidder's speed considerably, allowing her to dart out of the way just as he bounded nearly on top of her, readying a Fire Fang. The flames licked unnaturally in the air, reflecting in Skidder's beady eyes as the Houndoom bared its teeth, growling as it got soaked through with the rain. It seemed that his attacks would be slightly hindered as well, but that meant nothing if the big firey dog clamped its jaws around her small body. As it was, she really only knew about three attacks so far, but they were pretty effective. She hoped. "Bubble!" Liz ordered, smiling through the rain. Her knee protested with the cold water, but Liz didn't care. It could deal. Sarah moved to hang Liz's bag back under the dryer canopy of the tree, and then she moved back near Liz. She smiled. "Didn't want your stuff to get wet." She explained. Liz nodded, turning to smile at her before watching the battle once more. With the Houndoom's muzzle dangerously close as it turned on her, Skidder sent a small torrent of bubbles at its muzzle, which made it scamper back pretty ridiculously, sneezing and rubbing at its nose, which gave Skidder the opportunity to rush at it with a Quick Attack without Liz's command. Liz furrowed her eyebrows, but said nothing. Though Skidder managed to hit the Houndoom, it spun around and smacked the small Surskit to the ground with its muzzle and Howled, aiming a Bite for its little leg. When Skidder fell to the ground, the howl made her freeze momentarily, which unfortunately offered the opportunity for the Bite to land a hit. Skidder squealed out in pain, making Liz frown slightly. Had it been a good idea to throw her new little buddy into such a tough battle so early? Probably not. "Smog!" John ordered before Liz could tell Skidder anything, and just as Liz was about to yell for Skidder to move, the Houndoom loomed over Skidder, blocking her semi-crippled self by standing over her and opening his mouth wide, emitting an ominously dark, purple gas which swirled into the air, surrounding the little water skidder. Liz grimaced, shaking her head and returning Skidder. "I'm sorry." She called out, sighing deeply, sad that her friend had begun to be beaten in her favorite weather, but if she'd been poisoned that would have been the end of it. The rain still beat down hard. "Skidder's not quite ready for battle yet. I overestimated it." She apologized. John just nodded and returned his snarling, gas-leaking Houndoom, pocketing the pokeball. Lydia frowned. "Awww, that was no fun." She pouted, rolling her eyes. "Well, the next battle had better be funner!" She said, as if that was a word. Liz chuckled, sadly limping over to the tree before Sarah could move and replaced Skidder's pokeball, grabbing another. "You first." She called out, turning to walk slowly back to her place, her knee sending a spike of pain through her leg, which she winced at, unable to ignore. Sarah noticed and stepped over with concern, but Liz shook her head. She stood back in place and smiled at John through the heavy downpour, everyone once again soaked to the bone. John nodded back, grabbing his other pokeball and throwing it into the air. A cute Buizel appeared in midair, hovering happily with his tail before flipping and landing onto the grass, waving at Liz, who giggled and waved back. This one would be fun. John smiled shortly, and turned to wink at Lydia, who giggled despite the cold seeping into her skin. Liz threw her pokeball into the air and Acorn emerged, stumbling out and hopping up, waving at the Buizel with his foot, leaning just so that he didn't tumble backwards. Everyone in the field giggled, including his opponent. Liz shook her head, motioning to John to go first. John smirked, winking at his Buizel, who winked back, seemingly not phased at all by his type disadvantage. "Sonic Boom, then retaliate with Water Gun!" John called out to his Buizel through the rain. Right as Liz heard the words 'sonic' and 'boom', she cried out to Acorn. "Harden! Ready for impact!" Acorn's skin shined silver for a split second before a stream of sound waved buffeted him and made him skid a few inches back before the Water Gun followed it up and sent him flying back into the grass. More annoyed than hurt, Acorn leaped up, shaking off water in vain. His chest puffed out and his eyes narrowed. The Buizel was holding in laughter, smiling a goofy grin. Acorn's anger grew, giving him more adrenaline as he became in tune with the nature around him, small hands forming a small glowing orb as he shot a small wave of three canon-like Seed Bombs at the Buizel, hitting him square on the head and knocking the grin off of his face. Now it was Liz's turn to chuckle at the shocked and annoyed look on John's face as his Buizel stumbled around, dazed. Taking this opportunity, Liz called out. "Acorn, I know you haven't done it much, but Nature Power!" Just as the Buizel began to shake the headache away, Acorn narrowed his eyes further and took a deep breath, glowing slightly green around the edges as he became in tune with his surroundings, sending a weak but effective Mud Bomb splatting into his opponents face as his tiny feet splashed in the puddles around him as he laughed. This was just a funny, funny battle, wasn't it? Lydia and Sarah couldn't keep from giggling at John's flabbergasted face as his Buizel whimpered, flicking mud from himself as the rain made the mud seep sloppily down his body. Now increasingly pissed off, he turned to Acorn and glared, no more humor in his demeanor. In a flash, the Buizel zipped through the watery grass, smacking Acorn on the side of the head hard with a Quick Attack, sending him flying back and splashing straight into another, muddier, puddle. Disgruntled, but still not too harmed, Acorn flopped and struggled out of the puddle half as deep as himself, looking like a big brown, muddy blob before the rain washed him off. Liz and John now smirked, shaking their heads. Now back in their respective positions, Acorn and the Buizel faced off again, the Seedot only slightly panting as he regained his composure while the Buizel was huffing, sporting a frown. Acorn began to shake slightly as he readied a Bide, and the Buizel's tail began to spin. Acorn frowned, closing his eyes and anticipating the next attack. Suddenly, glaring at John, the Buizel huffed and turned around, crossing his arms and refusing to battle further. Liz chuckled, returning Acorn as she saw the outcome of this semi-battle. She shook her head and hobbled over to the tree to grab her things and place all of her pokeballs into her bag, wincing once more with the pain in her knee as her foot slipped in the mud. Sarah rushed forward to help Liz as John returned his stubborn Buizel, rolling his eyes. Lydia huffed again but shrugged as lightning flashed overhead. "Well, guys." She said. "Looks like we'd better head inside for the night and rest up. Liz looks like she's in pain, and I'm soaked." She said, wiping water-soaked hair out of her face before crossing her arms, semi-identically to the Buizel's. Everyone nodded in agreement and headed back toward the cabin, Liz leaning on Sarah as Lydia and John flanked them on both sides. John smiled apologetically. "Sorry about Buizel, he can be stubborn when he doesn't get his way..." John said in his soft, gruff voice. Liz merely smiled in between her grimaces of pain. "It's ok, Acorn was being a little bit too cocky anyway. Also, Lydia, are you still up for battling tomorrow?" She asked her friend. Lydia beamed, nodding excitedly at Liz as the cabin came into view. "Of course!" Liz smiled, and they all trudged up to the cabin, where they'd all rest and dry off. They'd return to the clearing the next day. ----------------------------------- Without them knowing, a small Elektrike, the one who hadn't attacked Liz before, had been eagerly watching Liz battle, becoming interested in how confident she was, and how nice she seemed to be towards her pokemon. The little guy admired that, for his own leader of the pack was mean and bossy. Because of that, he'd ran away. Now, as he watched Liz struggle up the stairs, he vowed to meet her and see himself how she would act as a friend. He was also mad that his so called friends has harmed her. He wanted to be as far away from them as possible.... Edited by Lizard, Nov 26 2012, 03:52 PM.

The next morning, Liz woke up yet again in a much similar fashion as she had the previous day. She sat up, her pokemon bolting upright around her, and stretched, her arm and legs aching but bearable. But of course, she was still sitting. As all of her pokemon leaped off of the bed or crawled onto Liz's back (Skidder), she patted them on the head and then returned all of them apart from Skidder and Fluffy. Having done this, she ran her fingers through her hair and yawned, looking around to see that the others had already woken up and were now in another room. The night before, the quartet had turned in early, having been worn out by all of the rain and battling. Beforehand, though, Lydia had hinted that, after she and Liz battled, Liz would be getting some kind of stone. This intrigued her as she sipped on her tea. She was more eager than ever to battle the girl. Having heard this and finished her tea, however, she had soon fallen asleep curled up with her pokemon. Liz slowly got up, yawning again and ignoring the stabbing pain in her leg. She wobbled on her feet painfully before grasping onto her nearby walking stick. Then she stumbling-ly made her way out of the room, grabbing her satchel off of the bed and slinging it over her shoulder. She slid into her running shoes and adjusted herself, and then, with Fluffy padding beside her, she walked into the main room. As she walked down the hallway, she thought through her battle tactics for her last few battles with Lydia. She also wondered just what she'd be receiving once she won. She figured that she'd use Cross, Acorn, and Fluffy for these last battles. She wanted to test out Fluffy with the Absol, since she'd been trying to train her Espeon against dark types lately, to strengthen him. Plus she figured it'd be a really neat battle, if Fluffy succeeded. So with that, Liz walked into the main room. John was lounging on the floor beside his Houndoom, who was puffing out little flames and going cross-eyed watching them. Liz chuckled. Lydia looked up from the computer, pausing with her fingers hovering over the keys as she smiled at her friend. Her Drifblim was hovering beside her, and her Absol was curled at her feet. Sarah wasn't in the room, so Liz figured she was making breakfast. Sure enough, Sarah came in moments later with her arms full of food. She slowly sat the dishes onto the floor and then sat down herself. Everyone dropped what they were doing and gathered around. Liz, because she was still crippled, simply borrowed Lydia's computer chair and dragged it over. Inside the plates and bowls was a steaming array of breakfast food, from eggs, bacon, and toast, to heaping plates of pokemon treats, mainly poffins and berries. Liz and the others let out all of their pokemon and together they had a grand feast. Liz pocketed some leftovers for later. Once they were finished, John went with Sarah to clean up the dishes and everyone returned their pokemon. Liz stretched, careful of her legs and sore arm, and smiled at Lydia. "Ready to battle?" She asked, her eyes gleaming. Lydia giggled, winking. "Yep!" ------------------------------------ The small Elektrike had been sleeping in the bushes near the cabin, and he awoke upon hearing the door open and the trainers talking. It seemed as though they were battling once again. Humans must battle a lot...this intrigued him. As the trainers walked down the path towards a clearing, the small canine pokemon followed behind. Once they arrived at the clearing, he hid in the bushes. After the battle, he planned to approach Liz. -------------------------- Sarah and John settled down on the grass as Lydia and Liz took their respective places in the clearing. Both girls were beaming as they took their positions. Lydia placed her hands on her hips and winked again. "Ok! So, we're going to have a three on three battle. I'm using my Altaria, Absol, and Nidorina. If you beat at least two, you get your prize!" She called out. Liz nodded. "Ok! Let's get this battle started, then!" She called out enthusiastically, throwing her first pokemon into the air. As the ball landed, Acorn emerged in a flash of light. Lydia winked. "Good choice! Now let's see if your little ball of energy can keep his cool with my Nidorina!" She replied, letting her pokemon onto the playing field. The Nidorina smirked haughtily, waving her claws mockingly at Acorn. The small Seedot puffed up, glaring. "Let the battle begin!" Sarah cried, smiling widely. And so it began. |

The battle began, and Liz was confident that this time her little Acorn would carry through and win the fight. Sure he had a type disadvantage, and he was a little rusty, but once again, Liz didn't care about these minor things. Acorn had spirit. So, as the Nidorina narrowed her eyes and readied herself to attack, Acorn puffed his chest out more with pride and, after a nod from Liz, he released his first attack. After a short amount of time glowing green and emitting a small orb of light, Seed Bomb erupted from his tiny hands and struck the Nidorina, but only on the arm, for she'd moved out of the way, thus only receiving the smallest amount of damage. The Poison Pin pokemon chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. She was going to battle this? This was going to be the easiest battle she'd had. In retrospect, the Nidorina had only been in two battles since her trainer had captured her, and so was not incredibly experienced. She'd keep that to herself, though. Either way, in light of the laughable situation, the Nidorina calmly waited for her trainer's orders, not really grasping the concept of independence. Lydia got ready to begin the battle, amused as well by Liz's choice of pokemon. "Nidorina! Poison Sting!" She commanded. "Harden!" Liz shouted as she heard Lydia's command. Acorn nodded, hardening his skin with a metallic gleam as his opponent let loose a stream of poisoned darts. Acorn moved out of the way, avoiding most, and was only hit by a few. The ones that struck him stung, but none penetrated enough to send poison into his system. Liz let out a sigh of relief. "Ok, Acorn! Good job! Now use Bide!" Acorn nodded, closing his eyes and focusing on absorbing the attacks he'd soon receive. "Double Kick!" Lydia shouted, still underestimating Liz. "Then try another wave of Poison Stings!" The Nidorina nodded, rushing forward before spinning and slamming her feet into Acorn with full force, sending him flying back into a tree, where he lay shaking and grimacing as he waited for his turn. The Nidorina then let loose a wave of Poison Stings once more, which made Acorn cry out in pain as one sent poison through his little body. Liz grimaced as well. Acorn then released his energy, rushing at the Nidorina and hitting her with full force, sending her back into the grass, grunting. She then got back up, however, and growled. Acorn grimaced as the poison coursed through his body and he quickly used Growth to raise his chances ever so slightly of winning. Liz and Lydia both spoke at once with their commands. "Nature Power! Come on, you've got it by now." She encouraged, and "Ok girl, we've got the Seedot handicapped with poison, now let's weaken her again with another Double Kick!" she commanded. Liz smirked. If this Nature Power worked, she wouldn't be the only handicapped one. The Nidorina rushed forward once more with a Double Kick, but as she did Acorn emitted another green glow, and hundreds of yellow spores appeared in a cloud above the Nidorina, slowing her in her tracks as the Nature Power turned into Stun Spore in the tall grass. Liz smiled at Lydia, who pretended to glare at Liz. Liz chuckled, as did their spectators. The small Elektrike was still observing from his hiding place, and smiled to himself. She had some good tactics... As the Nidorina slowed she showed complete and utter annoyance on her face, and Acorn smirked. He then proceeded in using another Seed Bomb attack without Liz's command and pelted the Nidorina with a few slightly explosive seeds. The Nidorina grimaced as each hit her, sapping away bits and pieces of her energy. They weren't very effective, but since she was unable to move for the time being, they were chipping away at her health, and her nerves. Suddenly, as Acorn was preparing another attack, the Nidorina lashed out with Fury Swipes as the paralysis gave way for a few seconds. Acorn, caught off guard, cried out and backed away, panting as the Fury Swipes took some of his energy away, followed by another sickening wave of poison. Acorn grew weary, facing off the Nidorina with mud caked on his face. His energy was growing thin, and he'd soon be too tired to battle. His body shivered slightly as he contracted more poison. It was time to release another Bide, one of his last attacks before he was through. As he awaited the Nidorina to move again before she was completely immobilized, he began to feel tingly. He ignored it and pegged it as the poison messing with him. The Nidorina let out another wave of Posion Stings, and Liz held her breath. Lydia looked slightly frustrated. Acorn stood firm and took the hits, his little teeth clenched as he staggered, pain stabbing through his body as he wracked up damage. Building up the energy from the repeated blows he had taken, Acorn shook, then took off like a bullet towards the Nidorina. In the middle of his mad rush, Acorn began to emit a bright white glow, and right as he began to barrel into the Nidorina, he began to change shape. Instead of finishing his bide attack, he leaped into the air and spun, a new glint in his eye as he let loose a gust of leaves straight at his opponents face, then followed through with a Pound as he emerged in his new form, a Nuzleaf. Liz's mouth opened in shock, and she stumbled a bit. "Well I'll be..." Lydia commented as her Nidorina stumbled back, then fell to the ground, unconscious. Both trainers just stood there, slightly dumbfounded, as Acorn crossed his arms and smiled triumphantly. Liz would have tackled him with a hug, but she didn't want to feel the agony of her fractured leg, plus he looked tired and weak despite his grin. Lydia being the first to move, she quickly returned her pokemon and cleared her throat. "Well, looks like it's time for the next round!" She said, pulling out her next pokemon as Liz returned Acorn, still stupefied. John and Sarah chuckled at Liz's expression, and then they winked at Lydia. "I think she's got you beat on the cool pokemon scale, sis." John kidded. Lydia stuck her tongue out at him. Liz, now recovered from her slight bought of shock, grabbed her next pokemon. Lydia did the same. Edited by Lizard, Nov 27 2012, 01:55 PM.

As Liz reached for Cross's ball, she paused. Lydia had released a beautiful Altaria, and though she was amazed by its beauty, that's not why she paused. Cross was 4x weakened by flying type attacks, and Altaria was resistant to both fighting and bug types. Cross would be a bad choice for this fight. But then she realized that Altaria mainly had Normal and Ghost attacks, so if Cross avoided all flying attacks, he'd be good. Having realized this, Liz decided she would still use her Heracross. Releasing Cross, he emerged in all of his green buzzing glory, and Lydia winked. "Good choice. This should be an interesting battle." She commented. Liz nodded, winking back. Sarah giggled. Cross buzzed at Liz, giving her a thumbs-up as he turned to the Altaria. The Humming pokemon lifted her head haughtily, smirking as she sized Cross up. This battle would be fun. And so the second battle commenced. "Horn Attack!" Liz commanded, wanting to start the fight off with a bang. Cross nodded, "Cross!" He darted forward, head bent down as he neared his victim. At the last minute, however, the Altaria let loose a loud, startling caw, which stopped Cross in his tracks with an Astonish and made him flinch. The Altaria used this opportunity to use Take Down and slam into Cross, sending him backwards, but only doing an average amount of damage due to his hard exoskeleton. It seemed as though this pokemon liked to fight without much command. This could be both a good thing and a bad thing in Liz's eyes. She'd just have to see which overruled. The Altaria grimaced slightly with recoil. Cross, still keeping his cool, flicked his eyes at Liz, who smiled and mouthed 'Chip Away'. Cross spun and flew at the Altaria again, careful not to be astonished again. "Sing!" Lydia called out as she saw Cross approaching. The Altaria opened her mouth to let soothing notes flow, but her song was cut short into a squawk as she was struck multiple times by Cross, stumbling in flight. She then used Round, singing loudly and damaging Cross's ears. He retaliated with Aerial Ace and struck the Altaria's wing, which made her stumble, opening a place for him to use Fury Attack and lash out a few times before flying back as she retaliated in fury with Dragon Claw, sliding her talons across Cross's face and making him cry out. It seems Lydia had taught her pretty bird some new tricks. Cross flew away quickly, pain shooting across his face as he stumbled slightly in flight from not paying attention. As this happened, the angered Altaria began to Sing again. Not being on guard, Cross began to smile at the pretty music and grow drowsy. Liz facepalmed, Lydia smirked. "Snap out of it, buddy!" Liz called out, snapping Cross from his trance for a small minute while he focused on his trainer, but his eyes began to droop again and he began to descend to the ground. Liz clenched her teeth. "Finish this with a Peck, sweety!" Lydia called out, jumping up and down in excitement. Altaria's eyes gleamed and she shot forward, striking Cross on the back with a hard Peck and sending him to the ground, unconscious, though whether from sleep or being knocked out Liz couldn't tell. She returned her pokemon with a sad smile. "Good job, buddy!" Lydia whooped and hollered, causing the Elektrike to flinch where he hid. Liz heard a rustle in the bushes but disregarded it. Lydia tackled her Altaria and snuggled it as it cooed before returning her with shining eyes. Sarah and John smiled, clapping. "Good job Lydia! One more battle to go! Liz, win this one and you've won the tournament! You can't lose!" Liz nodded, determined. "I won't lose, don't worry." she winked. The Elektrike liked her spirit. |

It was time for the last battle, and Liz couldn't wait. It was time for Fluffy to shine! He was used to dark pokemon now, so she knew that he'd do well against Lydia's Absol. She couldn't wait to get that stone... Lydia smiled proudly, tossing her last pokeball up in the air with an air of confidence. "I sure hope you can win this, but really, even if you win I'll give you a prize." She winked. "This is fun. It's been so long since I've battled anyone but my siblings!" She exclaimed, laughing. "Well, let's let the final round begin!" So with that both trainers released their pokemon. Absol emerged, raising his head and howling as Fluffy appeared, legs spread apart and eyes keen and determined as he got into his battling stance, nodding at Absol. However this battle ended, Fluffy would always respect that Absol for saving his trainer. But that wouldn't stop him from battling as hard as he could. Absol knew that, too. Liz and Lydia nodded to eachother, holding a silent understanding that this battle was really for their pokemon, and they both silently agreed to let their pokemon battle on their own. Both trainers had spent the most time training these pokemon, and trusted them fully. They would, however, pitch in if needed. Let the battles begin. Fluffy leaped forward, using Quick Attack which he'd follow up with an Iron Tail. He sped around the Absol, appearing and reappearing, but Absol kept his eyes trained closely on Fluffy and he could barely find and opening. Finally, after a long wait, Fluffy found his opening and leaped into the air, quickly slamming down with an Iron Tail. This struck the Absol, but he quickly darted away as though unfazed by the attack. Fluffy turned, eyes narrowed and trained on his opponent. Fluffy knew that his Psychic attacks wouldn't be of use here, so he relied on his Psychic ability to help him anticipate attacks and stay alert. He'd have to rely primarily on speed and his normal attacks for this battle. He used Morning Sun to give him energy. The sun came out and began to shine brightly. Fluffy soaked it in, smiling at the Absol. Suddenly, as if not caring, the Absol simply used his own Quick Attack, but Fluffy was on guard, parring with his own. The two zipped across the field, testing eachother in a deadly dance as they both looked for openings with their speed. Fluffy, having the advantage of his ability, anticipated the attacks, but the Absol eventually found an opening and struck Fluffy with his Quick Attack. Fluffy stumbled back a bit, swishing his tail and glaring, and let loose a Swift attack from the red gem on his forehead. About thirty little stars erupted from his head, flying at the Absol quicker than he could move away. They hit him in the side, knocking him back as he grimaced with each small, piercing hit. He growled, narrowing his eyes at Fluffy, who held his head up. The two pokemon circled eachother, facing off once more like feral lions guarding their territory. Liz, Lydia, John, and Sarah all watched intently. |

(to be added at the end :'D felt like writing it -goes back to work on the rest-) Liz hugged Lydia goodbye, wrapping her arms around her shoulders in a tight embrace. "Thank you so much. You don't know how grateful I am. I could have died back there. You are truly a cherished friend." She pulled back, smiling genuinely. "If you ever need my help, just call." Lydia nodded her head vigorously. "Will do. And same goes for you." She replied, winking. Liz then waved to the others and turned to leave, her new Electrike standing proudly by her side. Now it was time to finally challenge her next gym. It was time to continue her journey to become the best trainer there ever was, and to someday be a gym leader herself. Could she do it? Only time would tell.... |
