It was a beautiful day over Brevis Village, sun shining and not a cloud in sight. Truly perfect days for all hell to break lose in the Park. Enix walked through the entrance gate, Sandasu trailing behind him. The two stood in the gate, looking over the green fields that spanned in front of them, bustling with trainers to beat down or get beat down by. Enix pulled out two Pokeballs and expanded them, releasing the inhabitants- Kotori and Kuraneko. The Pidgey and Purrloin appeared from the red glow and stretched out.

Enix continued down the path in front of him, looking around and scanning for any potential opponents. He sighed. "All of these people and Pokemon here, and I can't find another trainer I want to fight. I need to practice before I face Spike." The first gym was located in this town, and Enix felt he needed to start building his fame up. All of the trainers that he may have wanted to fight were already battling it out against each other or tending to wounds from another fight.

Kotori flew over head, also looking around at the other Pokémon. A Fearow flew overhead, glaring at the much smaller Tiny Bird Pokémon, as if to say, “Get out of here, kid.” Korori just glared back and kept flying. Kuraneko and Sand walked along side Enix, looking at the park and at other Pokemon's battle prowess. All of the Pokemon seemed happy enough to find a good battle.

Enix continued to look around for a trainer that would battle him and spotteda guy that looked like a trainer; headband, backpack, and a Pikachu hoodie. "Hey!" Enix said. The man turned around as Enix walked up to him. "Would you be interested in a Pokemon battle?" Enix asked, the two grounded Pokemon poking from around his legs, Kotori landing nearby. "The man looked at Enix and said, "Sorry, man. I'm just here to study for college. Buuut... I can get my friends over here to watch. I haven't seen a good match-up since I was in high school."

(Que.... Yuki!)

"I'll battle you."

If the two males were to turn in the direction of the voice, then it would have been revealed that a young woman, no older than the male college student, had challenged Enix to a battle. She didn't look like much, a bit on the petite side for a woman, and appeared to have just gotten out of class due to her carrying a book-bag instead of a purse. Her eyes were a confident hazel, her hair a short, sandy blonde hair, and overall, the young adult appeared ready to provide a challenge.

To accent the idea that she wasn't a push over, on her book-bag was one badge, and it was shaped as a paw.

"Please don't go easy on me just because I'm a girl," requested the female college student as she reached into her bag to search for one of her Poke Balls. When she found one, the woman pulled it out, apparently putting no thought into what Pokemon she wanted to use in battle. "I'm Reina, by the way."

After she introduced herself, Reina then enlarged her Poke Ball to summon a Carnivine. The Pokemon took one look around before its gaze stopped on Enix, and it grinned at the sight. Was it to be used in battle? That was an exciting idea, though the Pokemon wouldn't complain if Enix turned its trainer down.

"Speaking of friends," announced the man wearing the Pikachu hoodie, "she's one of them." At that, Reina flashed a smile at her friend who, upon seeing this, grinned back at her. It was clear there were no feelings beyond friendship between the two, but they still seemed pretty close. "If you can beat her, then I'll be impressed."

Enix turned around at the sound of another voice to find a young woman. She was small, but she seemed willing to battle him. "You'll battle me?" Then his eyes fell on the shiny pin on her bag. Once the glare moved on, he saw that it was a badge. Of the Gym variety. "Wow. A Badge. You must be pretty good to get one of those. I'm going for my first one soon." With that she released her first Pokemon- a Carnivine.

"What is that?" Enix whispered as he pulled out his PokeDex. The mechanical voice rang out, "It attracts prey with its sweet-smelling saliva, then chomps down. It takes a whole day to eat prey." Enix closed the device and looked over to Kotori. "Kotori. He may be bigger than you, but you have a type advantage. Are you up for it?" The Tiny Bird looked up at Enix, eyes intense and ready to go. "Ok, you're up."

The Pidgey fluttered its wings and flew over to the field that would turn to a battlefield. He faced the woman who introduced herself as Reina. "I'm Enix, it's a pleasure. So, standard no-items battle, two Pokemon each, until both are unable to battle sound good to you? I'll let you go first. I was the one who wanted to battle." The youth called out. He turned to the other student. "Do you want to act as ref? And how impressed?"

(Sooo, how does evolution work? I mean, after this battle, Kotori will ave enough to evolve. Same for Sand. -didn't think of that-)

When Enix noticed the badge on her bag, Reina's smile faded a bit. "Actually, I just got lucky." At the thought of her first gym battle, the woman couldn't help but shake her head, for it really was a close call on her part. She knew the gym would be a challenge, and to be honest, she didn't expect to win. It was a lucky critical hit that won her the match, and she knew it.

If she was to get stronger, then she would have to battle hard against Enix so she could challenge another gym in the future.

Reina's train of thought was quickly interrupted when Enix sent a Pidgey to the battlefield. She had the disadvantage when it came to typing, but she was confident she would surprise Enix with a fierce battle. "Sounds good to me; Karn, Ingrain." Reina was sure it would be fine to disable her Pokemon's ability, Levitate, since this was a Pidgey she was up against.

As the Grass-type touched the ground to dig in its roots, Reina flashed an encouraging smile to Enix as her friend answered the trainer's question.

"Well, not terribly impressed, but still impressed. Reina's all about putting herself against the odds, and usually she comes out on top." The guy grinned at his friend when he noticed how the girl was firmly shaking her head, as if to deny everything he had just said. "Whatever she says about her, don't believe it. She never gives herself enough credit!"

((When you feel the Pokemon is ready to evolve, be it during or after the battle, you describe the evolution. "Pidgey's body started to glow white before it suddenly grew in size. When the light faded away, the Pokemon revealed itself as a Pidgeotto instead of a Pidgey." Something like that.))

CRAP! Wrong button! WIP!

Enix shot a smile at the other guy. "Gotcha'." He looked at Reina. "It was probably more than luck. You have to be pretty good to face any trainer, let alone a Gym Leader." It couldn't be easy to beat one of Aerei's finest. He then turned to the Carnivine, it's roots tearing through the ground. Assessing the battlefield, the other trainer called out a move to the Grass-type. 'Let's get this party started.'

'Ingrain. he thought, 'That'll keep it pinned to the ground. Is that a handicap, or a strategy? I'll keep on my guard.' "Kotori!" he called out,"Take off and try a Quick Attack! See exactly how strong it is! Look out for any counter attacks and back off ASAP!" The Pidgey nodded and flew skyward, a small cloud of dust following her, not much, though. She's not that big of a Pokemon, after all. Building up speed, the Tiny Bird jetted down toward the Carnivine, wind shooting off behind, yet still on guard.

Reina shook her head firmly as she replayed the gym battle in her head. "It was luck, but I won't rely on luck forever!" Here, the young woman waited to see what the Pidgey would be instructed to do, and a confident smile touched her lips as she watched. Pidgeys were small and weak, but they were naturally faster than the average Carnivine, even with Quick Attack.

Thankfully though, her Pokemon was trained, therefore it was about on par with Kotori's Quick Attack speed, maybe a bit slower. "Get ready to use Sweet Scent!" Her choice of attack was quite unusual, for the typical Swallow had nothing to do with the opponent. It was soon revealed what she meant however, for as the Pidgey approached, Carnivine lurched towards it with a gaping mouth.

If this was to be successful, then Karn would have exuded an enticing Sweet Scented saliva from its mouth that would have temporarily attracted the Tiny Bird. If the bird was caught, then Karn would have performed a quick Crunch before letting the bird out so the battle could continue. However, if the trap was to fail, then Karn would have been given no other choice than to accept the Quick Attack and try a different tactic.

Enix watched as his Bird Pokemon flew toward the Carnivine as it turned its head, giving out the noxious scent that, for some odd reason, attracted Kotori. As the Pidgey dived toward the Bug Catcher Pokemon, its mouth stretched wide open, ready to engulf the much smaller Pokemon. The Tiny Bird's eyes were fixed down the Grass-type's throat, and she continued to fly until the last possible split second, then her eyes blinked for a moment longer than the standard blink. The Pidgey snapped open her eyes and veered off, but not quite in time. The Carnivine slammed it's jaws closed on Kotori's wing, crunching it before spitting her out, launching the Pokemon across the field into a nearby bush.

"Kotori!" Enix called out as the bird landed in the shrubbery. Not noticeable at first, the soon to be unmistakable glow of evolution began to be cast from the shrub. At first glance, an absolute moron would call out, "The Bush is evolving into a tree!" But, there weren't any said morons there, so that was not said. The glow became brighter, becoming unbearably bright, causing the trainers to look away.

Emergin from the light was Kotori, but the silhouette was larger, and not in the shape of a Pidgey. Enix pulled out his PokeDex, the machine flickering to life. Scanning Kotori, the 'Dex called out in it's mechanical voice, "Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokemon. Pidgeottto flies over its wide territory in search of prey, downing it with its highly developed claws." Enix stared in wonder. It was amazing that such a small Pokemon turned into this within a minute. He called out, "Kotori! Try another Quick Attack! Fake out last moment and pull of a Wing Attack," leaving the last part quiet enough for only the Bird Pokeon to hear.

Reina was glad that her strategy worked, if only barely, but her satisfaction was quickly replaced with studied focus as she realized something was different. When the bush started to glow from within, the girl had a feeling the battle had just become all the more difficult. Determined to see for herself if her concern was accurate, the girl kept her eyes focused on the light, though she did have to raise a hand and squint.

She refused to look away, and because of it, she quickly realized that she was correct about the matter. So Kotori had evolved from Pidgey to Pidgeotto; wonderful timing for Enix, but terrible for Reina. "Congrats on the evolution," Reina called out as she smiled at her opponent. "You must be proud."

Soon after this, the Pidgeotto was ordered to strike, and Reina frowned in concentration. Pidgeotto was much faster than Carnivine, and since Karn was firmly rooted to the ground, there was hardly a hop to escape any oncoming attacks. The pair would just have to find another way to react, and in that moment, an idea popped into Karn's mind.

Before Reina could give an order, the Carnivine lifted both of its vine-like arms, and then paused as his body started to glow a soft turquoise. Reina, realizing what this was, quickly approved of the attack by shouting out the command. "Leaf Tornado!" In response to that, the Pokemon began to rapidly swing its arms until a large tornado of wind started to form.

It would be then that Kotori's Quick Attack brought it close enough to strike with the Wing Attack. However, at the same time as the Wing Attack, if not shortly after, the Leaf Tornado would be unleashed with circles of light green energy swiftly spinning within it. Depending on where the Pidgeotto was at the time, the Leaf Tornado could potentially be placed right where Karn was rooted.

Whether or not the Leaf Tornado caught Kotori though, the bird's Wing Attack would still connect with Karn, causing the Pokemon to dig his roots further underground in hopes of regaining some energy.

||I'm finally back with an actual ability to post something that isn't absolute crap, now. So, Yuki- I officially declare a continuation of this thread.||

Kotori launched at the vine Pokemon, it's roots planted firmly in the ground meant only one thing; an indefinite hit. Enix watched as his newly evolved Pidgeotto raced at a breakneck speed across the field, wind was starting to visibly bend around the bird, her eyes squinting. His eyes flashed toward the Carnivine; and the wind starting to pick up around it. It looked like a Leaf Tornado- he had seen a few of those when he'd watch his friend's brother battle with his Victreebell.

"Kotori!" Enix called out, "Cover yourself, but try not to lose any speed!" The bird glanced in her trainer's general direction, and re-focused on the combo. Leaves her starting to whip around the Grass Pokemon, and Kotori shot into the vortex, leaves starting to cut the Pokemon's feathered body. She shot out of the top of the windstorm and quickly flipped around, aiming down at the Carnivine's head. Kotori's wing started to glow a light-grey color, signaling the flying-type move's effectiveness.

((Sorry, I've been gone for a long while;;;)

The Leaf Tornado had worked, but it still didn't stop the Pidgeotto from striking. Karn was in pain, but at least it wasn't a terrible amount still. It was clear that the Grass-type and his trainer would have to try harder if they were going to defeat the newly-evolved Pidgeotto. That was perfectly fine though; a challenge was the point of this match-up anyway.

"Stockpile!" Most people would find this to be an unusual choice, especially since this was a Carnivine on the battlefield, but Reina saw nothing wrong with the move. Karn didn't seem concerned either, as he hurriedly worked to gather energy to store away. This would be the time to attack, assuming Kotori was fast enough, and would probably be a grand opportunity for a critical hit.

It was all about the aim.

However, Karn and his trainer were quite wary, so surprise attacks wouldn't be as effective on them as, say, the average trainer. Although Reina was still a rookie as a trainer, she knew that moves took time to perform. Because of this, she had made it a point to teach her Carnivine to be ready to attack, even when building a defense.

"Stockpile for as long as you can!" If Enix was lucky, then the Normal-Flying type would get lucky. This match was still at its early stages, so there was no real way of knowing which side would win. It would be even more difficult for Kotori to win if Karn's defenses rose any more through the Stockpiles.

||Glad you're back. Now to fight through my bout of life issues. While posting. Sigh.||

Kotori soared through the air, behind the Carnivine after the attack, leaves trailing behind from the Leaf Tornado. Kotori glanced down at her body, noticing a couple of scratches here and there. That attack had done more than she thought. She looped around over the field, stopping above the ground, hovering in front of Enix and Sand.

"Nice one," called Enix, looking over the Bird Pokemon for wounds. "Are you good to keep battling?" he inquired, thinking that the newly evolved Pigeotto needed some time to rest. Shaking her head, Kotori squawked out "Otto," signifying that it was good. "Fine. Go in for a low Quick Attack, head for the vines." The Flying-Type darted forward, aiming it's attack.

'Maybe they'll expect a fake out, and block high,' Enix muttered. 'If he does that, I'll get a sure hit, and a lot of damage. But that's still a crazy strategy; Stockpile? Why would she even think of ordering that move?'
