A little training along the way.; (Open)

Dove

Finally, she was on her way to become a Pokémon master. After getting a Pokémon - Her Turtwig - from the professor, and taking her time to nurse him back to health and making sure his shell was nice and moist, Dove decided it was time to head out. With her Turtwig adventuring at her side, she felt ready to take on the world. However... A few more Pokémon and some training would help... Turtwig was a Grass type, and Grass was good against water, ground, and rock... How hard could it be to find one of those out in the wild?

After walking for a considerable amount of time, Dove finally spotted something that her little Turtwig might stand a chance against. - An Azurill. The girl looked down to her Turtwig and he looked back up at her, seeming to sense her excitement at a battle. The little turtle stood and looked around for a trainer or pokemon, finally seeing the water mouse that his trainer had. "Tur?" The turtle asked curiously, walking along with his trainer as the got closer.

"Alright! Let's start this by surprise. I don't think it has noticed us, and if it does it might run into the water." She said as she leaned down and stroked the leaf on her Turtwigs head, trying to form a plan. She watched the Water type as it played with a low hanging leaf on a tree just outside of the small pond, her voice a bit unsure, which her pokemon picked up on, and nuzzled her leg for.

"I don't want you getting too hurt, okay? If you get too tired, come back. We don't have to win this one, we're just training." She spoke to her companion as she stood back up, her plan more or less formed.

"Get between it and the water so it can't run, and start off with a tackle if it doesn't notice you. Try and intimidate it with a growl if it does. I'll get closer once you start, don't worry." The Grass type nodded and confirmed with a "Twig!" before wandering over to the unsuspecting Azurill. The pokemon took no notice of the small turtle, and it was able to start off with a full body tackle which sent the now angry pokemon into a tumbling roll, Dove getting closer now that she wasn't scared of blowing their cover, her voice raised to tell her pokemon its next attack. "Quick, tackle it again before it gets its bearings!"

As the Turtwig ran towards the Azurill, the small blue pokemon opened its mouth and released a cloud of bubbles, a few popping with a sting upon her pokemon, and sending the little turtle back with a "Tur!" of anger that it got attacked. "It's okay, let's try another tackle!" She cried, wishing her turtle knew more attacks. I need to train him as much as I can... He doesn't even have any grass moves to help himself...

The turtle got back up and let out a growl that made the Azurill a bit hesitant, letting the Turtwig charge into it in another tackle which once again sent the pokadot pokemon rolling away due to its shape. It's using its shape as an advantage... By rolling, it doesn't take as much damage... We have to roll it in to something... "He's not getting hurt, we have to tackle him into something, back him up into a tree!" She cried to her tutwig as he was hit by another bubble attack, the turtle having a bit of ttrouble recovering, much to Dove's displeasure.

"Tur! Turtwig!" The turtle cried as he ran at the ball-like pokemon, a strong tackle pushing the ball further back, and closer into the tree line. The Azurill got up and waved its tail at the turtle, lowering his defence and his attention, only to be hit by another bubble cloud. Dove fisted her hands and thought of something to help, watching her determined pokemon struggle to stand.

"If you're tired, come back! We don't have to win!" The turtle looked to his trainer and stood up straighter, determined to prove himself. Just because he was sick for a while didn't mean he couldn't handle this! And to prove that, the turtle rushed forwards and bashed into the Water type over and over again until it hit the tree with great force, the Azurill crying out in anger. The turtwig let out a vicious growl and gave a final tackle which left the Azurill on its back, eyes spinning in its head after it hit the tree, down and out for the count. However, all the comotion attracted the Azurills family...

Dove grabbed her pokemons ball from her bag and quickly recalled her tired turtle, backing up as a hoard of Marill, Azurill, and Azumarill looked angerly at her. "Oh no..." Whe muttered under her breath before she began to run, pokeball still held firmly in her hand. "You... Pant. Did a good... Pant. Job, buddy." She spoke to the ball as she ran.

After about ten minutes of making her get away she stopped and doubled over with her hands on her knees, huffing and puffing for breath as he released her Turtwig. The pokemon looked to his trainer and nuzzled her leg, gaining a proud smile from the girl as she flopped onto her rear, sitting with her legs stretched out infront of her as she petted her turtle. "Great job, we'll have to teach you some grass moves though." She dug through her bag and took out a bottle of water, giving some to her Turtwig before taking a long sip herself.

"Well, I think we should rest up before we try that again." She said as she stood and dusted herself off, looking to her turtle. "Wanna rest in your ball?" The Grass type shook his head and jumped around happily, making dove realize that this little pokemon was full of energy. "Doesn't anything tire you out?"

"Tur! Twig twig!"

"Goodbye! I will be fine don't worry!!!" He called out to his parents as he left the small town, heading to the outskirts to start traveling and looking for pokemon to catch. He didn't know of anywhere he could get a pokemon near by and all the trainers wanted to trade for other pokemon rather then give them away. So he figured he would set off on his own and try to catch a wild pokemon, with pokeballs at the ready he traveled onward into the forest.

As Zyri traveled into the forest he noticed that it continued to get darker, glancing down at his watch he noticed it was only a little past 11 a.m. Wow... these trees sure make it seem way later then it is... good thing I don't mind the dark. I just wish I could find some pokemon... He hadn't seen a single pokemon since he left, and it wasn't making him feel hopeful but still he pressed on with determination to catch his first pokemon. Maybe I will see some Caterpie soon! They are bound to be in these woods somewhere. Or maybe even a Weedle or a Spinarak! His mind was buzzing with scenes on how his first pokemon encounter would go, making him even more excited and seemed to drain away all of his previous hopelessness on finding a pokemon. Though it did not fix the fact that his feet were starting to hurt from all the walking, so he decided to take a break under a tree.

He set his backpack down and leaned against the tree after sitting on the ground, looking out towards what looked like a small pond. He scanned the pond for any sign of pokemon but he could see none, though some of his view was cut off by trees and shrubs. Zyri reached into his pocket and pulled out his pokedex, letting out a small sigh as it showed he had seen 0 pokemon. "My dad said he had seen a Caterpie just the other day... How can I n--" A rustling bush just off to his left made him stop, his eyes quickly moved to where the sound had came from, moving to stand up with his pokedex in hand.

A small Oddish moved out of the bush, meandering slowly towards the pond, not even seeming to notice Zyri. Alright!!! A pokemon!!!! Just... what one? His heart was pounding and he quickly pointed his pokedex at it and it spoke to him in its computer voice. "Oddish, a grass type pokemon..." It went on to say more but Zyri wasn't paying attention anymore, he had put his pokedex in his pocket and reached for a pokeball. "Oddish! Your mine!!" He yelled with excitement as he threw the pokeball at the small pokemon. The Oddish was surprised by his yelling and jumped slightly, starting to run but it was too late.

It was consumed by a red light and pulled into the pokeball, which started to shake as Oddish tried to escape. It shook once... then twice... Cmon' be captured!!! Then it broke open and Oddish ran back into the brush. "NO!!!!! I ALMOST HAD IT!!!" He shook his head and shrugged, going to pick up the pokeball. "At least I found one! Next time its mine!"

And with a renewed vigor he set off towards the pond he had seen, hearing a commotion up ahead. Could it be a battle? He started to walk faster and soon saw a girl clutching a pokeball in one hand, running in a full sprint towards his direction. He was partially behind a tree as he watched her run and slump down onto the ground. He headed out towards her at a slow jog, calling out excitedly to her. "Hey you!!! Are you a trainer!?!?" Wow! Just saw a pokemon and now I'm gonna meet a trainer! What a good first day!

Dove

Dove was startled by a voice, jumping due to the fear that the Water pokemon were still after her, taking a relieved breath once she turned to where of came from and saw a dark haired boy. Her Turtwig growled unsurely and moved to step on one of his trainers feet for comfort, getting a warm laugh from her. She bent down to scoop her pokemon up, fixing her bag that hung at her side before she replied.

"Yeah, I'm a trainer." She kept it short and sweet, not going into any details, after all, he didn't need to know that she was just starting her adventure. "What about you?" She eyed him over and inwardly frowned, looking over his belt, and the six balls attatched. Maybe I should tell him I just started... After all, we did just battle, and he has six balls... If he challenges us, it could be bad. He seems nice enough, though. She thought to herself, shifting her turtle on her arms a bit as he wiggled to get more comfortable.

As she waited on his answer she pulled out a can of fruit from her bag while keeping her pokemon under an arm, soon setting him down, and soon after, the opened can. Ever since she'd introduced him to it when she was trying to get him to take his pills, the little Turtwig had fallen in love with the stuff. He gobbled and slurped it down as she crouched down and checked him over, making sure he wasn't badly injured from the Azurill. Her forest green eyes slowly rose back up to him, a polite but curious expression on her face.

"What kind of pokemon do you have if I may ask?" She looked him over once more to try and judge what kind of trainer he might be, thinking maybe a water type, mostly because she wanted her baby to have a chance if he did challenge her...

The turtle finished the can and looked up to his trainer for more, letting out a "Turtwig?" of question to get her attention, completely ignoring the man she was talking to. To his questioning sound she lowered her hand and stroked his shell, the Turtwig quieting and sitting contently as his trainer gave him affection.

He laughed some as the girl jumped, stopping a few feet away from her as her pokemon moved in front of her. "Hey you got a pokemon!" He then took out his pokedex and pointed at the unknown pokemon, soon hearing the pokedex inform him it was the grass type pokemon Turtwig. "Oh wow a Turtwig! I have never seen one before, did you just get him? I heard what sounded like a battle going on, was that you capturing him?" He nodded to her question and spoke excitedly to her, wishing he had a pokemon to challenge her to a battle with. "Yea! I'm a trainer as of this morning!" He smiled widely, beaming with happiness and excitement from being able to tell people he was now a trainer.

As she asked him what kind of pokemon he had he laughed a little and moved a hand up to scratch the back of his head. "I don't have any pokemon right now but I just saw an Oddish and I just about captured it but it got away from me unfortunatly..." He hung his head a little at the end of what he was saying, tilting his head some as she gave some peaches to Turtwig. Hmm, I wonder if I could lure in a pokemon with some fruit to try and capture it...

He shrugged it off and looked up to her again, noticing her light brown hair and green eyes, smiling some as she looked up to him as well. Zyri then moved to sit on the ground and watch the Turtwig by the girls feet after having looked to her for a moment, holding out a hand for the pokemon to sniff and check out if it wanted to. His other hand moved to his pocket to stow his pokedex, placing his hand in his lap after.

"Oh!!! I almost forgot! I'm Zyri Lomori! Whats your name?" He asked as he waited for the Turtwig to react to his hand, wondering where she had acquired such a pokemon. He's pretty cool looking, but I have a different pokemon in mind for my first capture... But I don't know exactly how I am going to accomplish it without a pokemon to weaken it...

Dove

The girl watched as he unpocketed a device she herself had, a pokedex, and scanned her pokemon, the turtle not even noticing as he devoured his fruit. Or all the questions the boy threw at his trainer. Dove just looked to him blankly as she had words vomited at her, hardly catching them all. Once he'd taken a break, she tried to answer them in order. Actually, nevermind in order, she just tried to answer what she could.

"No, I've had him for a few days now. We've just started I explore though." Had she not been questioned so much, the girl would of taken a moment to remember his days of recovery. "That's cool, guess you could say that I am, too. We just started our adventure, the battle you heard was us training against an Azurill." And getting chased by lots more... She thought, keeping that to herself however. Her pride was a valuable thing after all...

She listened to his tale, and was relieved that she wasn't going to have to battle her pokemon again, blinking in question as he spoke about almost catching an Oddish. I doubt that, especially without a pokemon... You can't just toss a ball and catch something. Dove watched as he got closer and sat down, the girl herself letting her weight fall back so that she was on her rear in the grass. The Turtwig looked at the hand and crawled into his trainers lap, cautiously sticking his head out to sniff at the hand, and trying not to leave her lap. The small turtle opened its mouth and snapped his jaws down on the boys hand gently, having smelt the fruit on it, while it was really just on his mouth.

"No! Bad!" Dove cried as she pulled her pokemon away, giving the turtle a frown and a shake of her head. The Turtwig looked at her in confusion, licking its mouth, and figuring out why he smelt the fruit. He gave a sheepish look and turned around to face the boy, giving a "Tur tur!" to say he was sorry, even though it couldn't of hurt.

"I'm sorry about that... He really likes his fruit... I hope he didn't hurt you?" She let her tone take on a questioning hum, stroking at the turtles shell. The boy introduced himself and she nodded, her lips parting to speak before she was inturupted by her pokemon, who thought he'd do the job instead.

"Tur turtwig twig tu! Twig twiur turtwig!" The pokemon spoke happily, looking up to the boy with a happy, open mouthed smile. Dove laughed and petted her pokemons head, her cheeks slightly flushed from his inturuption.

"I'm Dove, Dove knight, and this here is Sam. I got him from Professor Redwood, he was sick with some sort of cold I think. I've been letting him recover for the past few days." "Turtwig!" He chirped in acknowledgement, nuzzling the mans hand if he had kept it close.

"Can I ask why you don't have a pokemon? And what you're looking for?"

He watched her as she answered his multitude of questions, smiling some in amusement to his bombardment not that he thought back with how many he asked, not being able to help it however as he was excited. He nodded once she said she was training, wondering to himself if she had caught it or not. He figured not since she said she was training after all, so he didn't bother to ask.

His attention shifted back to the Turtwig as it neared his hand after sitting in the girls lap, smiling happily, hoping that it would like him. He gasped in suprise as the pokemon bit his hand, trying not to draw back until it let go of his hand. Gah! I don't think it likes me!!!! Once she pulled her pokemon back he turned his hand to inspect the bite, it wasn't too bad but it did sting a little and Turtwig had left a small mark on the skin. "Feisty that one is I guess!" He laughed some and nodded to her question, looking to the Turtwig as he spoke. "I know Turtwig didn't mean to do it, its alright."

He shifted a bit to get more comfortable on the ground, looking around a little before hearing the Turtwig start to speak. He laughed some and shifted his gaze back to the pokemon, amused by the conversation it was trying to have with him. "Well aren't you a talkative pokemon." He laughed a little more and then paid attention to what the girl was saying, petting Sam as he nuzzled his hand before moving his hand up, holding it out to Dove. "Nice to meet you Dove."

"Weeeeeellllll I don't have a pokemon because I just started adventuring today! And no one would let me have one of their pokemon unless I traded with them, which I obviously didn't have any! So I left today with high hopes of capturing one, but I failed earlier. It wasn't by much though, that Oddish was almost mine!" He smiled as he went over the scene in his head again, thinking more about the latter question. He looked out over the pond as he thought, seeing a few splashes from Magikarps before he remembered he had a list he had made awhile back.

He grabbed his backpack and rummaged around inside for a little bit until he pulled out the folded paper. Once open he looked over the list he had made, complete with pictures, about the pokemon he knew about. One was circled in red ink and he smiled and pointed to it and showed Dove. "Gastly!"

Dove

Dove frowned as she looked down to the mark on the mans hand, thinking over the things she had in her bag. Do potions work on people..? She let Sam sit in her lap as she watched the boy take interest in her pokemon, highly amused by the way the small turtle tried to get his story across. Yup, Sam was definitly something different. In a good way, of course.

She moved a bit to take a plastic bag out of her own shoulder bag, tossing the empty can of fruit into it until they hit the next place with a garbage. Sam looked to her as if she was bringing out more, making her laugh and shake her head. "You've had enough buddy." Once the bag was placed back in a pocket of her own she watched as the dark haired boy held a hand out to her, stretching her own out to shake his. Sam jumped up to try and join in, making Dove laugh as she released Zyri's hand. "Nice to meet you too!"

The girl brushed her bangs out of her face he leaned back on her hands, listening as the boy answered her question, a bit curious as to why he didn't get one from the professor. Then again, she caught him in a good mood... Maybe he had already tried, or maybe he really believed that he could just toss pokeballs at pokemon and that they'd be captured so easily. Either way, she didn't figure he was going to go too far without help. Help that maybe Sam and her could provide..

Her attention was stolen by the boy digging into his bag and pulling out a paper with a pokemon circled, the boys excitement seeming to pass on to Sam. "Tur twig! Twig twig!" The turtle replied with, looking up to his trainer like she should understand. Which she didn't. At all...

"Uh..." She mumbled as the Turtwig looked to her with determination, making the girl feel guilty for not knowing what he meant. She sighed inwardly and tries I figure it out, shaking her head, unknowing. The turtle "Tur!" 'd and moved back to face the boy, pointing with his nose to the pokemon circled. Still confused she tried to figure it out, trying to think of what he wanted until it clicked.

"You want to help him, Sam?"

The Turtwig jumped up in excitement and made the girl smile, then frown immediately after. There was no way her pokemon could win... Unless..

"Uh, Sam here wants to help, and I have no problem helping, too. It's up to you, but if you agree, we'd like some help in return." She stated with a smile, thinking of ways to teach her pokemon something other than tackle...

As the girl threw the can into the plastic bag he watched with an amused expression, shaking his head some as well. "He just seems to want more food, careful he might try to eat you!" He laughed softly after making a small biting gesture into the air, smiling to the way her pokemon acted during the hand shake.

He shook his head to get the hair out of his eyes while he explained his situation, holding the piece of paper happily and excitedly watching Sam, who had just become more energized. This little guy sure is excitable. The boy watched as she and her pokemon started to have a mini conversation, while it was only really Dove trying to figure out what Sam was saying, it still was an amusing little bit. Zyri put down the paper after Turtwig had pointed to it and Dove deciphered the puzzle, reaching into his bag to grab a granola bar to eat. He unwrapped the snack and threw the wrapper into his bag, munching on it quietly as she explained what she found out to him.

He nodded to her and quickly finished off his snack, swallowing the rest of it before speaking again. "Alright! I would love the help, of course I would help you in return somehow... So what kind of moves does Sam have?" He reached out and petted the pokemons head, squirming some in excitment before getting up from his seat and looking around. I wonder which way would be the best way to go...

Zyri grabbed the paper from the ground, as it was important and had a rough sketch of his pokemon team and favorite pokemon, and put it in his bag. He didn't wait long for Dove to answer his question, just waiting a few moments as he drank from his water bottle. He finally decided on a direction to go, jumping a few times excitedly and looking down to Dove with a huge grin. "Come on! Lets get going!!!" And with that he took off away from her towards a small trail he had seen, built up with a new energy from their plans of getting him a Gastly. I can't wait!!! This is going to be so much fun!!!!

He looked back over his shoulder as he jogged, checking to see if Dove had followed him or not. He slowed down to a walk as he got on the trail for her to catch up, not knowing where he was going but that didn't matter to him right now.

Dove

The girl cluckled, and the turtwig in her lap gave an offended expression, "Twig!" ing at the man in a huff. This simply made Dove laugh more, and shake her head with a large grin. Never a dull moment...

"When he was sick, I got him to take the pills by offering him a can of fruit, I don't think the professor gave them anything but pokefood. He's really into it, loves his fruit..." The small turtle bounced from her lap energetically and wandered around a bit, clearly bored with their conversation after getting petted by the man. He sniffed at some trees and played with some branches, amusing himself. Hm, he could use a friend, maybe I'll think about catching another pokemon...

As he spoke about moves, Dove frowned and started to close her bag, putting her pokeballs in an outside pocket that zipped up. After making sure she was ready to go, she stood and called over Sam, who happily walked at her side. "Turtwig!"

"Well, Sam only knows Tackle, and Growl... I was going to train him more and help him learn some grass moves, maybe bite, too. That might be how you can help. I'm-" She stopped as she noticed the boy much ahead, sighing and quickening her pace to catch up. "So, if you want a ghastly, you'll want a haunted place. And a pokemon with type moves... How does one even teach moves...?" She spoke mostly to herself, Sam walking a bit ahead of them. Somehow. For a small turtle, Sam was fast.

"Tur! Turtwig." Sam spoke up and Dove looked at him confusedly, figuring after that he agreed about what she had said, though he didn't know how to learn the moves, he'd try his hardest for his trainer. Maybe he could learn one on his own, and surprise her...

He listened to her as she spoke until she paused to catch up, noticing a complete change in subject however. He started to speak softly, scratching his head as he walked. "hmm... Well I don't exactly know how I can help you with training him right now, considering I do not have a pokemon, but if you think of any way just let me know!" The boy looked down to the turtle as it spoke, shrugging some as he had no idea what it said.

His attention soon turned to the surrounding forest, thinking back to what he had heard from his friends about anything that could of been haunted. Hmmm... I don't remember anything about a haunted... Oh wait!!! A thought finally occurred to him about past talks with friends while camping. They could be just stories but he could never tell when they were really faking a story or not.

"I think I have heard about an old abandoned house in these woods somewhere!" He had stopped at a fork in the road and turned toward Dove, a wide grin on his face. "I'm almost positive it is here in these woods, my friends have told me stories about it a few times." He paused in his explanation and turned to look down both of the paths they had as options, not knowing which one to take. "I... I just don't know which way to go..."

He looked down towards Sam and smiled some, speaking to the turtle directly. "What do you think Sam? Which way should we go?" He watched him with an amused expression, waiting for the turtle to choose a path and walk down it.
