The fiery haired girl slouched in her seat, a look of disinterested boredom coating her features as she fiddled absently with a pencil. Somewhere, in the distance, a teacher droned on, his voice nothing but a faint irritation at the edge of Zaira's mind. She wasn't sure exactly what he was saying; some scientific instructions that she wouldn't care to hear, she presumed. The pencil slid from the grip of her fingers, rolling across the sleek table's surface and clinking softly into one of the glass beakers that sat before her. Propping her head up on one arm, Zaira began flicking her pencil across the table, letting it hit the beaker and slide back to her. She was far more interested in her little game with the pencil than she was with the teacher's directions, and it was a moment before she noticed the absence of his droning voice at the back of her mind. Dragging herself out of a deep stupor, the girl glanced up, a frown creasing her features as she noted that he was no longer there.

Just... gone. Vanished. No longer there. Her eyes flickered over to the dry-erase board, the words that halted mid-sentence, the uncapped pen that rolled along the tiles lining the floor. For a moment, she wondered if he had left the room to get something, but chased the assumption away. He had certainly disappeared. She sat very still, as if she were expecting him to pop back in at any moment and begin reprimanding her for straying away from her studies. But there was nothing - only shocked looks and stunned silence, silence so heavy the air buzzed with it and it pushed in hard around her, as if it had a physical weight. She cast a glance around, letting her eyes take in confused and disoriented looks - and missing classmates. Several of the older students seemed to have vanished with their teacher, pencils rolling off desks and dropping to the floor.

It wasn't possible. It just wasn't.

Military- History! Oh Alexander loved it! It was his faviorite class of the day. It glances down at his paper to take notes, and the teacher drones on, "And Napoleon Bonaparte made a brillant move and crossed the alps with his army! This allowed him to lead a surprise attack on the Austrian force, and destroy it." ALexander wrote all of this down with a feverish rush. He paused for the teacher to continue, but there is nothing, but silence. Alexander looked up and seen the piece of chalk, which the teacher was writing with, drop to the floor. There is no teacher. The rest of the class started to laugh as if the teacher would reappear and this was all a joke. But the teacher did not show back up. Nothing.... just gone....
Alexander smiled at this. Everything was about to change, oh he could just feel it! He prepared to take advatange of the situation, and conquer.

Math... Ugh.. In math there were way too many problems to solve, too many red herrings for answers. Ka'lanu leaned back in his seat, feeling the hard, curved seat hold his back snugly. The fingers played with a pen, turning it 'round and 'round about the paper before him. The circles overlapped each other, going deeper and deeper in a seemingly never ending cycle of twists and turns. The teacher's words barely computed in his brain, the words were just there, filling the silence of the classroom. But occasionally Ka'lanu could make out a word his fellow classmates would exchange.

Then, in just a moment, a second.. They were all... Gone. Just like that. There was a sudden and eerie silence, it seemed to have a physical weight as it laid over the room. The cobalt blues rose, taking in the now silenced classroom. Pens and pencils rolled off desks, words left half-written on papers. The desks were now empty, yet just a second ago his classmates had been sitting there. Then, there was the teacher. Ka'lanu looked to the front of the room, seeing a empty space there. The equation on the board wasn't even completed, the number eight was drawn, yet it never finished its loop. The students the teacher who'd been there a moment ago were now gone.

Gone. Just like that, not a trace left behind.... This wasn't happening, it must have been a nightmare.

That same moment....

A pair of hazel eyes blinked, eyebrows furrowing and pink lips pursing in a tight line. Just... Just a moment ago the teacher had been talking her head off, the old and gnarled fingers pointing to various sections of map pulled over the whiteboard. Now only the map was there, no teacher speaking. It sent a hard shudder down Selene's spine, though she didn't know why. Slowly, she swiveled in her seat, peering to her classmates. It was then she realized one strange thing. Not only had the teacher disappeared, but so had some of her older classmates. Just.... Vanished..

Saphine let out a soft gasp as her teacher disappeared. They were supposed to be going over the book Romeo and Juiet in Literature, and the teacher had just been going on until no one but Saph cared to listen.Reading was her favorite thing to do,and the teacher just vanished into thin air.She felt a heavy crushing weight on her. Some of the kids were getting up and inspecting where the teacher had just been, most scared to step where the teacher had stood as if a trap door were there.Saphine stood up and shakily walked to the spot. She swallowed hard and jumped in the place right where her teacher had stood, and opened her eyes when nothing had happened.Other students laughed and giggled.

Cenne sighed, his feet dragging as he carelessly did a layup and got it in the net once again, his coach barking at him to do more until he perfects it.He thought of a bird and how they sing, then suddenly,Cenne's own bird stopped singing. He looked over and only a clipboard and a whistle lay where his coach had just stood. He looked around the gym at the other students and almost all were frozen and staring at the same spot he had just looked at.

Alexander got out of his chair and went outside the classroom. He looked into class after class and it was all the same. Everybody over the age of 17 has disappeared. He smiles and heads toward the office, a plan already formulating in his head.

Saphine's eyes began to water and she balled her hands into fists,"Shut up! This isn't funny! You stupid immature children cant get through your thick skulls that this isn't a joke!"she yelled angrily and every one of the laughing classmates stopped laughing a d giggling.

Cenne panted and he slowly walked up,picking up the whistle and looking around, taking in everyone's faces.

Ka'lanu's eyebrows knit together as he leaned up in his seat, glancing about the room. In this classroom it was silent, a few stray voices muttering upon themselves. Under his skin the stomach seemed to tighten with rising fear, nerves becoming jumpy. He'd heard the teacher talking, then the old teacher's words had suddenly stopped.

No one spoke, what could they say? It wasn't funny and it wasn't something someone could suddenly just react to. It was too alien, too.... Unheard of. He spun in his chair, glancing at a few of his classmates, seeing the worry on their shocked faces. Slowly, he stood, wondering if it were just his classroom that people were suddenly becoming Houdinis.

A palm pressed to his temple, feeling the burning skin under it. He almost sighed, having fought off this growing fever for what seemed like days. The last thing he needed was a fever when things were disappearing. Unsteadily, his hand gripped the seat of his chair, needing it to keep him up. He breathed in slow, fighting off the shaking in his limbs. Despite the warm toasting of his skin.

Regaining just a hint of composure, he looked to the class, seeing some of the others had stood also. His full lips pressed into a thin line, cobalt eyes turning back to the door. Somewhere deep inside he wished it would open and a worried and hysterical teacher would pop her head in. But no one opened the door.

Alexander moves quickly. He know he has little time to take advantage of the situation. He bursts into the front office and heads toward the microphone. Alexander picked it up and spoke confidently, but with sympanthy, "Attention. Attention. Everybody head toward the gym, so we can figure out, what the hell has happened. Please report to the gym."
He then realized he forgot to press the damn button. (He thought, FAIL) VHe pressed it this time and spoke again.

The legs of Zaira's chair scraped loudly against the tiles beneath as she eased herself out of her seat, approaching the front of the room with tentative steps. The tapping of her sneakers echoed deafeningly through the stunned silence of the classroom, every sound amplified by the tension that buzzed in the air. Pausing by where their teacher had previously been, Zaira knelt down to retrieve the discarded marker, casually capping it and placing it back on its tray, as if it nothing had happened. She swallowed, almost painfully, curling her quivering fingers into fists to cease the tremors that ran through her bones.

Hold it together, Zaire, she chided herself, drawing in a shuddering breath. Surely, there was a logical explanation for it all?

Casting one glance at her mute classmates, Zaira burst through the door, letting it rock on its hinges and slam loudly into the neighboring wall. The sound resonated throughout the halls, painfully loud in such heavy silence. She was still expecting some teacher to pop out of a door and give her detention for leaving class and causing such a disturbance, but no chastising met her ears. Jumping at the crackling of the intercom, she glanced around, seeming to deflate at the realization that the blaring voice was that of a student, not a teacher announcing that it was all a mistake, a joke.

The soles of her sneakers gave a single squeak as she took off running down the hall, preferring to ignore the student's announcement to congregate in the gym. She needed to check the neighboring classrooms before students began surging towards the auditorium. Yanking the door open, the girl lurched into what she believed to be a senior math class, jerking to a stop as she let her eyes settle over the students before asking a single, apparent question.

"You, too?"

The boy's hands were curled around the steering wheel as he coasted along the highway, glancing up at the boarding school that loomed off to one side. Kids at his high school often told stories about the disturbed kids that stayed there, and Link just avoided the place altogether. His gaze quickly switched onto the road as his mother's voice met his ears. He blinked, a yawn escaping him as he turned to look at her. "Huh?" He'd been sick for the past few days, and he was still feeling drowsy, out of it. He rubbed at his eyes, the side of his face pressed against cool glass.

The woman chuckled slightly, her eyes focusing intently on the road ahead of her. "I just want you to-"

Her voice cut off abruptly. Link, turning back to his window as he blinked bleariness away from his eyes, frowned. "Want me to- Mom?" He turned back to his mother, only to realize that she was missing. He blinked rapidly again, as if clearing his vision would make her return. "Mom?" The seat remained empty, his mother gone.

And then the hurtling car crashed into those before it.

His seat belt snapped hard against his chest, cutting painfully into his skin. His head rocked forward, his brow smashing painfully into the dashboard with the recollection that his mother had never turned the passenger air bag back on. Blood trickled down the side of his face from the gash that had opened along his forehead, letting crimson fluid drip into his eyes. A sharp cry escaped him, only to be drowned out by the sound of metal screeching against metal.

Saphine bit her lip and began shakily feeling her wayto the gym,her nerves racked.Being a smart girl, she always could figure most of the hardest problems and this one just made no sense. She leaned against the wall and used them for support as most kids bumped, pushed, and hurried past her.Everything seemed to be moving faster than it was, while Saph was caught in the crowd as she tried to slow down and think. She walked with the crowd, towards the gym.She flipped her blondehair out of her eyes and glanced around at the kids faces, absorbing everything.

Cenne sucked in a deep breath and joined his scared classmates, gently comforting a girl in his glass, whom the gym teacher had been her father. She was pouring out tears, mumbling about how he would never play pranks, and he was always the serious type.Cenne just shushed her and stroked her hair gently, his arms wrapped firmly and protectively around her,"Evrything's alright,we'll figure out everything." he said in a quiet tone.

Ka'lanu had felt hope flutter in his heart, but just as quickly as it was born did it die a gruesome death. He was almost angered to see the girl in the doorway. Yet, at hearing her words he felt a cold grip wrap itself around him You, too?... So this wasn't all some hoax, it was for real after all.

He glanced back at the classmates, they were all murmuring among themselves, too worried to speak up. He looked down to the girl, cobalt orbs settling on her face. He assumed she was experiencing the same thing, the disappearances. He gave a brisk nod before saying, "Yeah." His eyes slowly strayed to the spot where the teacher had stood.

None of this made sense, what exactly had happened? He wanted to know, or it would eat him alive. He sighed, rubbing his temple still and feeling a collection of sweat on his skin now. Strands of black to his skin, lips pressing into a thin line. Now was not the time for a fever to attack... Not this one anyone, the fevers were getting worse and worse.. He gritted his teeth, looking back to the girl now.

Saphine took a deep breath as she was pushed into the disaster that was the gym.She could hear some sobs of desperate kids, others still laughing and enjoying the joke. She took a seat in a corner and curled up into a sitting fetal position, her arms protecting her head as she tried to calm herself, having an anxiety attack.

Cenne held tight to the girl in his arms, not wanting to be separated from her.In his own way,he was panicking. Before,he would've just glanced at this girl in his gym class in the hall and do nothing more. But with all these mixed emotions of strange kids,he wanted to hold on to the saddened and most familiar one.He didn't want to let go of the safety that he felt with her, when everyone else suddenly felt dangerous.

Alexander reaches the stage, in the gym. He turns on the microphone and gives a very sympathetic look to the crowd. All while thinking, "This my time. They will be so shocked, it will give me my chance."

People bumped and shuffled past Ka'lanu, hitting his shoulders and pushing him aside. It irritated him. Couldn't they wait a damn minute? Apparently not. Hoping to avoid being pushed again, he quickly moved his way to the side. He knew where everyone would be running off to. But he didn't see the point.

First off, they were all in the same exact boat: What's going on? What're we gonna do? Why this, why that? W-H-Y? Young Ka'lanu very much doubted anyone had a logical answer that they hadn't assumed themselves. Any assumptions by now would have probably been made to soothe themselves. He nearly scoffed.

See, whining and whimpering around didn't help anyone, it merely made you weak and a target... But even with this set in stone in his mind, Ka'lanu just couldn't shake the feeling of fear gnawing at the edges of his very being. Something was definitely off, he could feel it. But here was the question: Go to the gym, or not?

A pair of wide hazel eyes peeked into the gym, pink lips parted ever so slightly. There's... So many people, she thought, uncertain. With thin, shaking fingers, she clasped her skirt, fingers in a tight fist. She'd heard the announcement to come to the gym, but she was no very unsure if she really wanted to enter the gym and meet all these worried kids.

Taking a deep breath into her chest, she stepped into the busy gym, quickly lost among the noise. She tall, pale figure stood out against most of the kids. She skin seemed paler than usual because of the raven-black wavy hair that was barely restrained in a ponytail. She tugged the restraint out, letting her hair fall on back and shoulders. The ponytail was popped onto her fingers, her fingers busying themselves by tangling themselves into the rubber ring.

Hurriedly, she moved away from all the people, away from the throng. Thin fingers going raw from playing with the ponytail that squeezed her skin. The fingers moved feverishly as she sat down at a bench in the bottom stands, her skirt pulled tight and bellowing just below her knees now. Bottom lip captive between her teeth, the skin turning white from the force of her bite.

Alexander smiled at the way these fools acted. "Oh! I'm so scared! Who's going to feed me? Who's going to teach me? Wah, Blah, Blah, Blah," he thought and laughed to himself. But seeing as a good chunk of the school's population turned up, he thought he might begin.
Alexander turned the microphone to his mouth and began. "My fellow students of Coates Acadmey. Something terrible has happened here. It seems all of the older students and teachers have disappeared. Just gone. Nothing. I'll be the first to tell you. I have no answers about this. I do not know why this happened. And frankly, I don't care. What I do care about, is how we are going to deal with this. We need to come up, with some sort of government, so we can organize all of this, to make sure we don't fall into chaos. I nominate myself, Alexander Havok, as leader. Any objections?" He looked at the crowd and smiled.

Saphine took deep breaths and calmed herself, getting through the attack and standing to her feet. She had heard the boy,but was still in so much shock, she didn't know what to say.

Cenne wrinkled his nose at the kid,and pulled the girl in his arms out of the group of kids.He could see that she needed air, needed space too.The fartherhe got away from there, the safer he felt.
