Ardan MacGully was born in Ulster, Ireland in the year 1082 to a family of peasant farmers. He grew up pushing a plow and hunting in the nearby forests to survive year after year and pay the heavy tithe to the Pope. Unlike most of the malnourished Irish populace, Ardan grew to an impressive height and was very strong from the constant labor. Surprisingly, due to not knowing anything else but this simple existence, he was rather content. This contentment was shattered though after a bad harvest and the potatoes not growing. His father threw him out of the house in a ceremonious manner. Soon, the little coin he was given had ran low and he was destitute.

To survive, he became a monk at a monastery in solitude with other wise priests. It was there that he learned how to read, write, speak Latin, Greek, and even French. As his strength of mind grew, impressively his heart and physical strength remained as well. The head priest saw this and saw more for Ardan rather than just a simple monastery life. So Father Williams, as was his name, wrote a letter to the Master of the Holy Order. This letter was requesting that Ardan were to become a Knight Templar. This request was accepted and Ardan found himself at sixteen a Crusader. He now had a horse, knew the Order's secrets, wore armor and even a sword.

Though all this glamour came with a price. He was sent on a ship to the Holy Lands to conquer Jerusalem in a bloody conquest. Many a friend he lost on the field of combat and many lives did his own blade take as he fought valiantly. Many noticed this and he was given notoriety as a master swordsman and a terror on the battle field. To enforce this reputation that brought terror on the field that Ardan fought on. Instead of wearing the red cross and scarlet regalia normal Templar knights wore, he was given a black coat of arms with a white cross instead. Earning him the title of, "Dark Champion."

Everyone across the Holy Lands and Europe knew Ardan's name, even some more malevolent of forces knew of him. One in particular was a creature known as a vampire, Kassim Mujahadin. An Arabian vampire that saw use in inspiring such terror in his own enemies by making the Dark Champion his own. One night, Ardan was riding on a patrol in the deserts with five other knights with him. They were ambushed by an enemy they couldn't even see because he was moving too fast. Ardan was knocked off his horse and Kassim turned him into a vampire there.

Through Kassim, Ardan learned how to hunt and survive. For centuries the two stayed together as partners, until the day Ardan took his revenge and left Kassim to be torn apart by werewolves in Romania. Then Ardan left on his way and became his own master. He still kept his Templar armor and possessions hidden away in a secret place for him to one day return to during the world's ending and be the dark champion once more. Though that would be a long ways away according to the sacred text, so he left it there. (Some conspiracy theories about the Illuminati and the Free Masons just might be true.)

Ardan then traveled the world, visiting the places he has never seen. Japan, China, Russia, and when it was somewhat settled, America. When he first came to America in 1762, he came as an Irish bartender under guise. Bringing with him his family secret recipe for making whiskey. However, an untrustworthy business partner named Jack Daniels stole the recipe and the legal rights to the brewery he had successfully started. Making a quick swipe, he managed to steal about half of the company's initial fortune back and went about his way traveling America for about three hundred years.

He was never in the same place twice, from Arizona to Louisiana to Florida. Eventually though, he settled down in the small town of Forks, Washington. More... Intriguing adventures happened there.
