Royal signifies exactly what it is; it is an Army, formed for the protection of the nation, a nation headed by the Royal Family. The Monarch, as head of the Royal Family, is de jure Head of the Armed forces. Therefore, the Army is formed in the name of the sovereign, for the protection of the nation. |
