General Board Rules:
Three warnings in a short amount of time equals a suspension or being banned depending on how seriously you abused the rules.

The rules about signatures are:
Don't edit text size.
Don't have stupid amounts of text in it.
Don't have very large images.
Don’t have “inappropriate” images in them, this means explicit and/or otherwise sexually provocative images.

Insulting and abusing another member via PM or in a topic will not be tolerated. If you have received abuse via a PM you report it by via a PM to a Global Mod or Admin. Insulting a RP character with your own character IC is allowed as long as it is purely IC.

PM an admin and ask before advertising your site, then say in the topic that they have approved it. If you lie and say that it’s been approved when you haven’t asked or it wasn’t approved then you will be warned.

Cursing is allowed but don't be doing it all the time.

Try not to double post, it is allowed if you are role playing alone or it has been a long time since you last replied.

Only one account per person if you are found to have more than one account then you will be warned.

Signature Size:
We also have a limit on signature size this time round. Many people enjoy the interactive benefits of a fancy signature image, which we fully encourage. However, we require that the signatures be no larger than 500x400 pixels, so make sure that your signature size stays within those limits. Otherwise, one of the members of the administration will remove your signature. Repeated offence will result in the offender receiving warnings.

If you're not satisfied with the decision taken by a member of the administration, then post a sober request in the suggestions forum. In addition to this rule, rude behaviour, and threats in the form of accusations, and biases directed at the administration, will be treated very seriously, and if you cannot back them up, you've pretty much alienated your self: such behaviour will not be tolerated too long. Penalties for such violations and perversions will be unique, severe even, and not fixed, which is why we recommend that members remain humble and well-versed when addressing potential accusations in the direction of the administration.

Role-playing style, and rules regarding writing:
We just have one simple request in this department. That request would be that members try their level best to be as lucid as possible in the content they type. Try making sense of what you're writing.

Additionally, we require that members also try to observe the laws of modern english, and the rules of syntax and grammar. Spell properly, and try to make sure you don't completely slaughter the grammar. We're not stern about this rule, but we do expect members to at least try running their posts through a 'spell check' on any reasonable word processing programme/software.

RPG Rules and Information:
This forum is a mecha-anime rpg, if you would like more information on what this concept is then the best place to browse would be http://www.mahq.net/.

The first thing to do is create a character profile using the Character Template and post it in the Character Profiles section and wait for it to be approved.

When you join a team go to that team’s mobile suit request thread located in their HQ and ask for one of the available suits. Don't use a mobile suit until given permission from the Commander of your group.

You cannot “leak” information about what your team is planning to do to another a member of the opposite team, if you do you will be warned.

No switching sides (If you really want to PM me about it).

There is NO hp, ammo, fuel or anything like that in combat. A basic example of a move in battle would be:
"I fire my machine gun at bob"
"I doge most of the bullets and take minimal damage and then return fire with my beam rifle" so it is very simple
If after 48 hours you haven’t responded to the attack it hits and you take direct damage and the attacker gets to attack again (Normally the attacker can't attack again until the defender has responded to the first attack).

The allowed “moves” (attack, dodge etc.) is roughly two attacks/moves per turn. For example if one turn you perform three it will be allowed as long as you do not continuously perform three moves. Moves such as talking to a team mate obviously don’t count towards the limit.

Keep in mind the functions and armaments of the mobile suit you’re piloting make sure you only do things that are possible with that suit. For example don’t say you throw a grenade if you’re suit isn’t equipped with them.

If someone fires at you, you cannot just ignore it you must acknowledge it.

God moding is not allowed eg. "I doge your attack with no damage at all and fire my beam rifle totally destroying your mobile suit then proceed to destroy the other mobile suits close by”. If it’s accidental and a one off you will be let off but continuous god moding will result in a warning.

About taking hits and the infamous ‘minimum damage’ policy:
'Minimum Damage' is something that's amazingly hard to define. Especially in Gundam, where the ratio between real physics and fantasy physics are always changing from series to series.

Therefore, it really comes down to the following rule of thumb regarding minimum damage: if you get hit, you lose something. Armor, limb function, your character's dreadlocks, whatever. If a weapon hits you, your mobile suit loses something that has an effect on your performance in the rest of the fight.

It doesn't have to be serious, even just losing bits of armor is acceptable - but until the 'official' stance on minimum damage is sorted out do everybody a favor and take some sort of damage every time you get hit. If you do it - you might find your opponent more willing to play fair and take bigger hits too.

Phase-Shift Armor

People need to remember that suits with energy batteries do not operate for an entire battle. Intensive combat drains the battery, quickly! However, this is an RPG, so while we're not going to require you to count the number of turns till your battery runs out of power, we do have certain restrictions in place on units that have PS armor.

Any PS-equipped mobile suit or Gundam that happens to use more than two different types of weapons (aka four beam cannons, its CIWS, and a beam rifle or even a melee weapon) will overload the suit's energy battery and shut down the unit's PS armor, making the unit vulnerable to conventional weapons.

In addition, firing any single weapon more times than the appropriate limit listed in the Weapons Guide (which will be edited with such information tommorrow) will also overload the battery, resulting in the deactivation of the PS armor for the duration of the battle. Only mobile suits with a deuterion beam energy supply system can recharge a suit's battery. A PS-equipped unit that lacks this system cannot recharge its battery, and thus will have to withdraw eventually. The only exception to this rule is mobile suits that can use packs - switching packs is considering supplimenting the energy battery, restoring the suit's power.

Note that swapping packs can only be done during a 'lull' in battle.

Restoring Phase Shift Armor

Attempting to use the deuterion beam energy system mid-battle is dangerous. Namely because it takes two turns to complete the recharge (one to bring the battery back to full output, the other to get the Phase Shift armor online again). During the recharge, the recharging mobile suit canot maneuver, break the beam, or fire weapons. A recharging mobile suit, consequently, is extremely vulnerable, and must be protected while it is recharging.

Non Playable Characters:
In the biggest departure from the old rules, NPCs now no longer are pathetic weaklings who even in mass hordes of 100 or more can never land a scratch upon an enemy. Yes, I exaggerate, but it is still true.

Each NPC can now harm players - but do not get carried away with the thought. Characters are still generally supposed to be better than NPCs - especially nameless grunt soldiers. However, with this rule, if you're staring down 10 NPC suits, while your PC may still be able to walk away from the fight - his suit will not be in too good of a condition.

Thus, in combat with NPCs, take into consideration that they CAN hurt you. It's doubtful that they could KILL you - but be fair about it and take some minor damage at least from NPC encounters - especially if you're outnumbered.

[NPC Combat Rules]

Reducing the Numbers

There shall be a maximum limit of 15 NPCs to any one player. The only exception to this is the faction leaders, who generally command any NPC forces who are brought to any given battle.

The 15 NPC limit, as proposed, would include the player's ship, and any pilots on board. It would not, however, include the ship's crew and any applicable NPCs. But I don't want to start dividing NPC pilots into 'elite', 'skilled' or 'cannon fodder' status. That just simply gets redundant after a while.

Note:
Sometimes, administration or senior members will summon Plot-based NPCs. These will be special characters, who can set crucial plot events in motion, and player characters CANNOT fight them or god-mode against them as they would a standard NPC.

These NPCs for all intents and purposes are to be treated as PCs under the administration's control. They control the character, its fate, and its life/death. Lucky for you though - these kinds of characters don't come around very often.

Methods of communication during battles:
- In battle if you wish to say something OOC (Out of character) put OOC as a paranthesis before it and IC (In Character) when you resume role playing.
Eg: “OOC: This is a good battle!
IC: I then return fire with my beam rifle.”

- You may also press the code button instead.
This can be achieved by simply pressing the 'Code' button in the post window, before your message, and then typing “[/CODE]” at the end of the message.

Regarding Death:
A character cannot die unless the player who owns the character wishes to kill off their respective character. Characters should leave a battle when their suit is badly damaged. Note: No matter how much the technical junkies will whine about this, we cannot change this rule. We believe in providing a healthy gaming environment, but not to degrees of senseless obsession. Therefore, a character cannot, and will not die until and unless the designated player should desire to do so his/herself.

The same law applies to NPCs owned by PCs.

Land Capture Rules

Land battles are where military forces from one faction engage the military forces of another faction in an attempt to conquer the other guy's territory. Otherwise known as invading. Here's how they work:

Land battles begin when one pilot announces his attack. For example, let's say somebody wanted to attack the Sanc Kingdom. A player would announce the attack like so:

Quote:

Bob lands his GM in the outskirts of the Sanc Kingdom. Several other Neo Zeon units landed behind him, ready to take the territory away from the Earthnoids. He lines up his pistol at a target, belts out a war cry, and opens fire - beginning the attack.

You don't have to be so long-winded. Basically as long as you mention your character desires to take over the territory and you post in the appropriate land forum you can make your post as long or as short as you want it.

However, that's only the first step. Once you declare your attack, your opponents have 48 hours to respond to the attack. If 48 hours pass and no defenders appear congradulations! You've won the territory for your nation. But if the enemy sends out its pilots to meet you - the battle begins.

Most territories have a few sub-forums - these are specific locations within the target territory. For your faction to claim total victory - ALL of these locations must be taken from the enemy. The only time this does not apply is when the enemy does not defend their land in the 48 hour window. If nobody defends the territory - you win the entire thing, and do not have to wait an additional 48 hours to capture each sub-forum as well.

Each land battle has a page limit of ten pages per battle. It does not matter how many posts are made or by how many people (or if they're OOC or IC posts) - once the tenth page is filled, the battle is considered to be in a 'lull'. Thus, keep OOC flamefests out of the battle topic - otherwise you might find the topic filled up with OOC debates - and whatever advantage you had before completely vanished. As when the 'lull' comes along - your enemy can bring in reinforcements, repair mobile suits, and etc.

A 'lull' period is a time when all PC characters withdraw, and if their faction leaders have not decided to call off the attack - repair, rearm, and get ready to continue battle. 'Lull's are the ONLY time in which reinforcements sent in from another battlefield may be allowed to enter it. Attempting to enter the battlefield while the fight is ongoing is not permitted - so woe be to those who attack alone - it'll be 150 long, long posts until somebody can come along and support you.

If you brought NPC forces along with you - then the 'lull' is the period in the battle when NPC forces continue the fight. Under the control of faction leaders, these NPCs will not attack the 'resting' PCs. A 'lull' lasts for a 24 hour period, then if nobody's called off the attack the battle begins for another ten-page (or 150 post) bout.

The battle will continue in the fashion of 'Attack -> Lull -> Attack' until one side conquers all sub-lands, or one side gives up and lets the other guys win. However - if you retreat from a battle you cannot return there until the current battle is over. Furthermore, if your mobile suit was destroyed in the previous bout of fighting, you CANNOT use the 'lull' period to get another mobile suit. Once you're out, you're out.

Once the battle for a piece of land has ended it cannot be attacked again for 48 hours.

ETHICS OF THE GAME: An important subject matter.

In character and Out Of Character policy-
Remember this, you maybe enemies inside the game, but out of character, you're all on the same board, members of the same community, and you should not resort to cheap methods OUT OF CHARACTER, causing the other side to suffer.

This means:
Don't give away passwords upon defecting to another faction. It is wrong, it would throw the game into chaos. We will find out about such deceptions, and serious penalties will be imposed. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you be ethical, and not cheat.

Confidentiality Rule-Also, in the past, we have had people in strong positions, abuse their powers. From here on forth, the administration will try to remain as professional as possible. This doesn't mean that you type in formal English, because that is utter non-sense and pish. This is about internal professionalism, that is:

- When a member approaches a mod or a watcher in person either through PM or through IM. The Mod/Watcher in question, is to automatically assume that the conversation is in confidence, until and unless otherwise stated by the member who initiated the conversation, such conversation should NOT be shared publicly for exposure or personal amusement. In the past, we've had so called members of the administration, chit-chat personally with other members, only to distribute the logs of the conversations on the forum or amongst their friends for good laughs. Such unprofessional and unethical conduct will not be tolerated, as the mods/watchers in question, will be immediately stripped of their powers, if not worse.

Important Notice regarding the rules:
- Rules, policies and board atmosphere, are subject to change at any time/moment, without prior notice.
- When and if the mods feel that a new technicality, rule, or alteration of a rule must be enforced they can do so, and the rules will immediately follow-up with the given change. This is put in place because rules cannot always cover every single anomaly and potential scenario; neither can they counteract and/or deal with unexpected issues on this board, which is why the rules would actually extend beyond the text here, and into the actual observation and custom rulings of the mods. Therefore, -do not- challenge the rulings without good reason of doing so.

-TREAT THESE AS A HISTORICAL TEXT: NOT THE FINAL DOCTRINE-
