All we had to do was pull that lever. What? No, you had to push the butt-AAAAAAAUGH!! Heh heh heh. I know we're probably about to die, but that was so totally worth it. |

I just finished Portal 2 last night. I don't think I like the direction the story took, particularly since a certain character stopped talking about halfway through the game. (Damn, spoilers don't work as nicely here as other places.) You're right about it being like Bioshock in certain areas and I think that ended up frustrating me. I'm not sure if it was my TV or my eyes, but I had a problem spying where I could place portals. I still like the game though and the fleshing out the background got. I missed some of the elements of the first game, but I think that this turned out fairly well considering I don't think the developers believed Portal was going to be a success and didn't anticipate a sequel. Personal preference: I did not like the gels. They were a nifty idea the first time I played with them, but they got old quickly and in some cases I found it nearly impossible to cover the areas I knew needed (and were meant) to be covered. Still, there's only so many different puzzles you can make with just portals and cubes, so it added a nice dimension - just one I didn't happen to like. Love the characters and atmosphere and that's pretty much why I played the first one. I definitely recommend it! |

I thought the gels were a nice touch, but am glad they're limited to a certain part of the game. I played it on the PC and I didn't have any trouble seeing places to put portals. Maybe it doesn't work as well on a tv set? |

Possibly. I didn't have this problem in the behind the scenes areas of the first Portal either and I had the PC version. I think the bouncy gel made me the angriest because I'm not exactly the most precise at aiming and if you don't hit it right you can bounce off a cliff... BTW, LOVING the co-op! I liked painting the rooms completely with the gels. But then again, I'm insane. |

I don't know, I've just never found it to be all that strategic. It's mostly a who can click the fastest kinda game. Then again, I'm a fan of 4X games, and not so much a fan of RTS's, so that's probably why I feel that way. |

Fair enough, I've encountered the same problem when I first started, it was always to see who could get the biggest thing the fastest, but then I quit the practice league and tried out the Zerg which basically forced me to adapt to any counters as quick as i could and utilize choke points as well as ambushes, and if anyone built a bunch of big guys I had the right thing to beat it with! |
