Slostian Augustus

I have a new favorite forum person. And also, it seems that Slostian Independence Day coincides with Penguin Day; just goes to show you that Slostia is the best! |

Etat Libre d'Esprit

Was wondering, since so many nations were once part of the Etat Libre d'Esprit powerbase that they somehow share a common holiday? even Orchyre's nations should share common holidays aswell. ELE has New years day (1st January), those arent that important, but there are several religious holidays though. 3 January is the feast of Mater Lux, and the deity Lucinda is celebrated with the floating of millions of small paper bags with candles in them. 20 April is the feast of the Spirits, week long holiday celebrating the spirits of the forests and the spirits of the land (and no its my sis' birthday in RL, nothing to do with Hitler) 30 August, is the most important holiday in ELE's calender, it is a culmination of three diffrent events in one, firstly it is the day that the Grand Esprit came into existance (kinda like christmas), secondly it is the Paul Joubert's birthday, thirdly it's the day that Paul Joubert was crowned, and every single other ELE king has been crowned on the same day. 5 October is the festival and feast of Absolutio Patris, celebrated with the eating of fish and sailing in large bodies of water plus what is this "Thanks giving" that you guys keep on talking about? |

I imagine that essentially the feasts of Mater Lux and Absolutio Patris would be (near) universally followed, while the feast of the Spirits may be replaced by something on the same date but specific to that particular branch, and the 30th August is completely replaced with wherever else's national holiday fitting the same idea. |

Hmm... Feast of the Spirits almost coincides with Birth of the Nation/Traditional New Year (Apr 22-30), which is normal New Year's celebrations stretched over the course of a week; by this point in time, it's a little like Mardi Gras. Remembrance (15 Aug) also almost coincides with ELE's three, but this is probably more like Feast of the Spirits or Memorial Day. We also celebrate the equinoxes and solstices, which should be secular enough for everyone. |
