Does anyone know anything about raids and defensive alliances? I don't. Right now our WA Delegate doesn't have control of the RMB so as far as I understand it the only consequence of a raid would be that Retwinsore would be temporarily deposed as WA Delegate. Is that correct? Even if that's right maybe we should join some kind of alliance. I'd rather not have the RMB pooped up with raider chatter if someone targets us. |

You can take away all controls from the delegate if you like and then yes, all that would happen would be a temporary seize of control. I get the impression that raiders (in a trend now) target the smaller regions with no/dead founders, change the RMB, lock the region down, and then keep it as a trophy. Other than that, the only real defender alliance I know about is 10000 Islands and I've heard good and bad about them. |

Back when I was a part of Pacific Army, raiders' only goal is to screw over other people. Typically they'd hold on to a region for a few days, spam the the civil HQ and leave a couple days later. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the WA delegate still has the power to eject members, right? The best way to repel raiders is to have as many people endorse the WA candidate as possible so raiders can't set up a puppet with more endorsements. I took the liberty of researching defender alliances. Back in the day we could have joined the ADN, but they're long gone. The best one I came across is the Founderless Region Alliance. Here's their forum and NSwiki page. |

We aren't a founder-less region, so we don't really have to worry about this stuff. |

KK based on my experience going back to before Regional Founders, when there were only Delegates, here are some suggestions for Regional security. First of all, the best form of security is an active Founder. A Founder who logs in every 60 days isn't worth being in the region with, unless the Delegate has over 100 endo's, though I've seen raids with well over 100 endos. Second, the Delegate should be bared from the Regional Controls. As an example of why I make these recommendations, may I relate some NS history. SalusaSecondus, the Game Admin, had his Region, The Cuckoos Egg, raided by Lone Wolves United. They held the Region for over a week before SS logged back into his nation and sent the lot to Kandarin's BBQ. No one was deleted as he thought that it was a joke on him and the raiders were polite and well mannered. Raiders fall into several categories. There are the n00bs who act like a bunch 10 yo's, the Blitzkrieg raiders who attack, hold the region for a day or two and then depart, and then there are those who try to destroy a Region. I remember when Todd McCloud's Region, Foxrite, did that to San Francisco Bay Area and the refounded it as a puppet. XKI purports themselves as a Defender, but I have seen them invade peaceful Regions and destroy them. I was in one. The ADN was basically torn apart and killed by the micromanagement and politics of Pope Hope of Nasicournia as was the Defender Coalition by the former raider Gothicville who changed sides and names, the EAA basically went on life support and eventually expired. Pacific Defenders was starting to make a comeback recently, but with the former Den member Leilas, going under the name of Caras Way, I was always skeptical of their intent. The FRA was originally founded by Northern Chittowa and Dipes of the old Global Right Alliance. Sedgestan is not as pure as the driven snow as he would like everyone to believe. |

Okay, sounds like we're reasonably safe then so I won't worry about. I just noticed that Islandia (the old region that the original Alterrans came from) got raided and it got me thinking about it. Islandia is basically dead though, so I suppose that's what made them a target. |

To raiders, inactive Regions are low-hanging fruit. |
