A forum for the answering of questions would probably work out easier than a single person responsible for everything. |

Alterra is amazing, as are its member states. However, there are a few ideas I had that could improve it. I think that there should be some sort of welcome to Alterra history lesson for potential new recruits, and some sort of citizenship test that must be passed before gaining a spot on the map. Maybe not yet, bet as we get more members the volume of history we will have will be so overwhelming that most people will just ignore a lot of it. We could even have multiple people working on the issue so as to make sure that it doesn't cause issues. I also feel that a lot of the appeal of Alterra is being able to write your own history. While having premade states would make things much less of a hassle, I think that they should be more of a guideline than a rigid frame. Furthermore, it is my opinion that we will need many more volunteers to fill administrative roles as the amount of material we have to work with increases. |

We are definitely going to need a better Welcome to Alterra that helps new people. Our history is really getting complicated. There's a "help write the faq" thread in the University so please post anything on that that you think new people should know. I hope to use that as the basic for the welcome doc since I think it's just too big a job for one person to write. Once we have that then we can make some requirements for picking a spot on the map. Maybe: 1) Read the doc. 2) Post your basic ideas for your nation for the community to read and comment on. 3) Then pick out a spot on the map once you have some feedback on that. Something like that. And yeah, I was just thinking about administrative stuff today. Alterra is about three times the size it was when I added the three moderators... |

Well, the history is still in a kind of flux, due to the fact that a lot of nations still have to come up with one in relation to neighbors that they dont have yet. I'm one of those. lol |

lol yeah I got lucky, my location made it so I only had to deal with a few other country's histories until the world war. Although, when ppl claim the area around me, it gonna get complicated... heh btw Sky, I think i fixed my history to correspond with yours, if you wanna check and make sure you can(obviously ^o)) EDIT I'd be willing to help new recruits set themselves up(for now, once we get more ppl i'll need help with that), but I'd need to catch up on Alterran history a li'l more first. The entire continent of Xia will be a mess whenever we get more neighbors. There is no overshadowing ancestor culture and very few of us border one another. |

To help with history and relations, we might want to start thinking about the Alterran Age of Imperialism and who had power where. Or do we want to wait until the map is pretty much filled before forcing that aspect of history on incoming players? |

It'll cause a lot more shifting of history to suddenly have an imperialistic power when there wasn't one before. It's probably better to do so now and have incoming countries shift their histories. |

Hopefully I'll have a rough updated history of Neolantia up by the weekend. After talking to some of my fellow Zephyrians I'm making some changes. The empire is going to be focused on Zephyria and mostly ignore the Old World except for my misadventure in Retwinsore. It's a commercial empire focused on getting resources to feed our industry and trade with Hesperia. Basically we have a two pronged strategy. If the locals are weak we conquer and colonize. If they're stronger we set up trade relations and trade guns and other modern technology for resources. More to come... If you're a Zephyrian and you either need a former colonial overlord or an arms merchant let me know. |
