Have fun in the sun Lad... I'm just up the road from you! Drop by if you feel the need... or just get a wild hair! You & my mum-in-law should enjoy each other's accents for a while. |

She's from Southampton... the Broads. Was a lil girl during WW2 when her dad was a fireman in London. Interesting tales but her fave is a german pilot flying low, waving at her a moment before her mom rushed out to scoop her up... and the RAF swept in. She's pretty sure, in hindsight, that the guy didn't live. Knew he wasn't gonna avoid the RAF and wanted to remember something aside from fighting before the end. I dunno, I've done some research and based on her memories about the time & season... its very likely the guy actually did make it. Very few fighters got shot down during that period and none in her area... of course we'll never know. But its interesting nonetheless. Where you at in Florida? |

Like I said, from what i can find its very possible the guy wasn't shot down that day. But yeah, her version is kinda sad. |

Boca Raton near Ft Lauderdale... I was in that area last weekend for a convention... it'd take several hours of driving to get here. Have to to I-75 then North just into Georgia... I encourage you to enjoy your vacation. Down & back with a few hours at Megacon was a full daytrip... not sure that meeting a RVI would be worth the gas, time or risks involved... 'cause let's admit right up front, we don't bloody know each other so there is some inherent risk involved. Do the beach thing, do the whatever it is you came to do... maybe cruise through and hit Disney or Universal. The place is theme park central... Kennedy isn't all that out of the way from there. Weather's nice... enjoy it! |

Githa: I lived in San Antonio for five years. But mainly spoke some Tejano spanish there since I lived in a Hispanic-German neighborhood. By the way: Its 70 degrees and cloudy here in Germany. Cant wait to the summer when its 100-110 degrees with 100% humidity. |

Kennedy is *insert high pitched voice and hand waving here* Awesome! Pity you weren't here for the launch a bit back... I've been watching launches every chance i got since Apollo 17... several up close, many ohmygod many from my home... its less impressive. Just a spark & contrail if the day is clear enough. Challenger was 'interesting'... we were watching through telescopes from a school... we didn't know what happened for a moment but -that- wasn't what it was supposed to look like. One mad rush for a radio and then the TV came out from the lab... Edit: Ani, where the Hades are you in Germany? When I lived there we were greatful for 3-5 days of nice 70-80 degree weather in August... but that was in Aschaffenburg. It never once got hot while I was there.
